Chapter 1 - The Kidnapping
“Are you with the radicals?” Rose choked out, avoiding his soulless eyes.
“What a silly name,” he shook his head. “We are the Masters.”
Rose glared at his forehead, still avoiding his eyes. “You are master of nothing.” Admittedly, taunting the man who could kill her with one step wasn’t the best idea.
Chapter 2 - First Year
A white-haired boy, whom Rose recognized to be Scorpius Malfoy, was passing by and when he noticed the trio staring at him from the compartment, he gave them a sneer and then continued walking with an air of superiority.
Albus looked discouraged, “See? Slytherins are horrible.”
Chapter 3 - Second Year
"Maybe you should worry less about your hair products and more about expulsion!" Rose said without thinking.
Scorpius's eyes widened. "My—my hair?" He gave her a scrupulous look. "Seriously? That's the best you can do?"
"If your reputation is in the trash you should at least put a little effort into your looks. " She sneered, feeling momentarily triumphant.
Chapter 4 - Third Year
“Just don’t speak to each other.”
It should’ve been that simple. No talking meant no arguing. But for Rose and Scorpius it was never simple and he couldn’t imagine being in a room with her for hours and just not talking. They could fight with their eyes if they weren’t allowed to talk and there was no way they could be in the same room and not talk.
Chapter 5 - Forth Year
“Why can’t you see that she has it out for me? She hates me!”
Albus shoved his hands into his hair, “You both are out for each other! Please, for the love of Merlin, just take a break.” Albus was running out of energy. He couldn’t keep getting in the middle of Rose and Scorpius any longer. “If the two of you can’t stop fighting…”
“You’ll stop being friends with us?” Scorpius doubted that.
Chapter 6 - Fifth Year
“Well,” Hermione started, “what do you have to say for yourself?” She was just talking to Rose, but Mr. Malfoy gave Scorpius a look like that question was addressed to him as well.
Rose bit her lip, “It was just—” and that’s as far as Rose got before her mum exploded.
“Do you have any idea how much damage you’ve cause?” Her mum asked loudly, one step away from yelling.
Chapter 7 - Sept. Sixth Year
“I was impressed last year,” Al said, referring to the fact that Rose and Scorpius had been forced to play nice.
The truth was that Scorpius had been bored out of his mind last year.
“Yes, well I’m very impressive.” Scorpius drawled.
Chapter 8 - October
“I’m not drunk!” Rose hissed.
“You nearly hit yourself in the face just now,” he was speaking very slowly, as if he was speaking with a child.
“I did not!” She cried indignantly.
“I like your costume.”
“I’m not—wait, what?” Rose was thrown off by the sudden topic change.
Chapter 9 - November
“What do you want to talk about?” Rose asked condescendingly.
Scorpius looked sideways at her, “How about why you picked a fight with me last night?”
Chapter 10 - New Year's Eve
Scorpius hadn’t done a great job of keeping his feelings inside, he supposed. “I guess, I wish that Rose would have accepted me more… back when Al and I first became friends.
“I wouldn’t hold anyone accountable for their actions as an 11 year old.”
Scorpius smiled as he recalled saying something similar to Rose when she pointed out that he had been pompous and pretentious. “I don’t.”
Chapter 11 - February
“Can I ask you something?” Tanzy said quickly, like she hadn’t meant to blurt it out.
Rose hesitated, “Um… sure. I suppose.”
“Do you think Scorpius is a good person?”
Rose’s head nearly snapped off of her body with how quickly she looked at Tanzy.
Chapter 12 - March
James could feel his temper heating up, “I didn’t want you to get the wrong impression. I’m over my stupid obsession with Eliza.”
Penny shrugged again, “It’s not my business.”
“Can you drop the cool act for a minute?” James snapped. Penny jerked away from him. “I don’t feel like walking on eggshells around you anymore. We kissed.
Beginning of April
“Oh please, she’s totally over the whole Scorpius drama. Besides, he’s completely lost interest in their little feud now that he has a girlfriend.” Rose knew that Hayley was trying to be helpful, but her words only angered Rose.
It was like Scorpius had completely given up on challenging Rose and in turn Rose felt like she was slacking.
End of April
“Rose,” Scorpius gently turned her to face him. “You should go back to the Gryffindor common room and wait for her there.”
“Where are you going?” Rose asked nervously. Her voice still sounded scratchy and her eyes burned as she held back tears. She wasn’t going to cry in front of Malfoy.
Beginning of May
Rose breathed deeply and shot Scorpius a threatening smile. He returned it.
“On three. One… two… three.”
“Everte Statum!” “Incarcerous!” Rose and Scorpius whipped their wands, their spells clashing against each other.
Rose quickly recovered from the blast of their colliding spells.
End of May
In which the story climaxes.
The panic in his gut would not go away until Scorpius lay eyes on Rose.
And that’s how he found himself standing up and saying, “Professor, will you excuse me?”
Slughorn barely got a word out before Scorpius was out of his chair and shrugging his bag over his shoulder. “Of course, m’boy. But—but,” Slughorn stuttered, but Scorpius didn’t pay him any attention.
Ch. 18 - End of May
Rose couldn’t bring herself to look at her captor. So she just let her head fall back and stared up.
“Can you move?” He walked over to her until his feet were next to her face.
Chapter 19 - The Escape
“Ms. Weasley, if you can help me squeeze my hand.” Something slid against Rose’s fingers and then she squeezed and drifted back to sleep.
Rose woke up fully sometime later. Bright lights stared back at her and she winced. She tried to raise a hand to face to make sure it was still there. Her brain felt hazed over, like someone had hit her with a stupid stick. After glancing around she realized that she was in St. Mungo’s.
Chapter 20 - Summer
Rose wasn't entirely soothed, but her nerves settled down to a normal level throughout the remainder of the day and soon, the only pebble in her shoe was the unresolved situation between her and the boy she was supposed to loathe.
