“Babe,” his voice came up behind her.

Hermione turned in her chair smiled at the guy standing in just a pair of dark blue boxers, rubbing his eyes to try and get used to the light. He walked over and placed his hands on her shoulders which he gave a quick rub before he kissed the top of her head.

“You should be asleep,” Hermione said letting he hand run down the back of his leg.

2 Engagement Rings and Chocolate Milkshakes

“Choc Shake!” Lexi cried and gave Hermione a big kiss on the cheek, then child spied the ring, “pretty, like GinGins.”

“Yes just like Auntie Ginny’s,” Hermione laughed.

“I throw flowers?” Lexi asked, her big blue eyes staring up at Hermione, “like GinGin.”

“Yes, you can be a flower girl just like at Ginny’s, but not just yet.”

3 Lellow Like Lexi

“Oops, sorry Granger, then again maybe I’m not,” she had spat, giggling, “you always were second best, he even left you for me didn’t he.”

“What?” Hermione said twisting and glaring at the girl, her hand edging around her wand.

“We have him now,” Astoria said, her voice lowering into a deep threat, “and you are never getting him back.”

“So do you like your dress?” Ginny’s voice chipped in and snapped Hermione straight back to reality.

“Erm, well…” Hermione said a guilty look flashing over her face.

“You don’t like it,” Ginny cried, horror flashing across her own features.

“It’s not that,” Hermione said quickly, “I just haven’t seen it yet.”

5 The Gardens of Avalon

“I’m not going to lie,” Dean said as sat down on the bed and laced his shoes, “I am so glad that you women feel that I am too much of a man to get into things like this.”

“When truth be told you’re enough of a girl to know exactly what to do,” Hermione giggled.

“Hey I grew up with three sisters okay, it’s not my fault we used to play weddings instead of normal things that boys do.”

6 Draco Malfoy

It was truly just as beautiful as she remembered. The layout was as if someone had stuck three circles slightly overlapping themselves together and each circle was filled with a different set of flowers. In on there were roses, in one there were lilies and in one there was a big pond that was full of the most beautiful floating orchids. There were a few stone benches scattered around and fountains nested in beds of flowers.

“I read about you and Dean,” Draco said sadly, “congratulations.”

Hermione glared at him and crossed her arms, “you don’t sound very congratulatory.”

“I guess I never expected….

8 When in Doubt Call Your Mother

“I wasn’t supposed to be back, not yet, not for a long time,” his eyes darkened as he spoke the words and he looked past Hermione as if focusing on someone he was angry at, “but I read about Harry and Ginny’s wedding and that you would be the maid of honour and I…I had to see you.”

9 Home Comforts and Quidditch Training

“I’m a witch surely that counts for something?”

“Not when it comes to matters of the heart.”

“This isn’t a matter of the heart,” Hermione defended, “it isn’t a choice between Dean and Draco.”

10 Out Of The Ashes

“I hope you are hungry,” he said blushing a little, “I thought I would prepare something just in case. I’m not going to lie; it’s kept me company every night you haven’t turned up.”

He was talking too much; he was nervous and he could tell she was clocking onto it but she kept quiet, resting her chin on her knees.

“It’s just cheese and crackers,” he said pulling out a cheese board and a box of crackers, “and wine.”

11 A Question Of Friendship

“Malfoy must be lying,” Ginny said jumping up, “Harry wouldn’t keep this from you for three years.”

“He isn’t lying Ginny. He has been undercover for three years. He said he came back to see me, he still loves me only he found me with Dean.”

“He is lying!”

“Hermione, I’m sorry.”

“You have nothing to be sorry for Draco,” she said.

“I should have been there to protect them,” he said, “that was supposed to be my job but I didn’t do it. I came back to see you. It was selfish of me.”

“What on earth was that?” she cried.

“That,” Harry said, “was damage control, haven’t you seen the papers this morning?”
“I…what…no I haven’t,” Hermione replied as Ron chucked her a copy of the Daily Prophet and then Hermione understood.

“Hi,” she said, “look if this is about Lexi…”

“What, no, no nothing like that,” Ron replied quickly. He closed the door behind him and sat down in the chair opposite her desk, “no I wanted to make sure you are alright.”
