“Sirius, I need to go,” She giggled as she tried half-heartedly to pull away from me.
I kicked open the door and froze as soon as I saw the unconscious body that was sprawled across the wooden floor.
I was too scared to utter the counter curse and hear what my visitor had to say so I sat and stared at everything but the body sat in the centre of the room.
"Oh, did I mention I found a spell to make them move?"
“And all I’ve seen for the past year is a pathetic little girl who runs from both her problems and the people who love her!” Sirius hissed back and I was suddenly on my feet. Before I knew what I was even doing, I was stood in front of him and my hand was stinging from the slap I’d just given him.
I actually laughed. I seriously couldn’t help myself.
“It means that both James and Sirius are too injured to get in OR we have some unwelcome visitors on their way who have somehow managed to get Remus to send us a patronus.”
“What’s wrong?” J was looking at me with concern. I tried to pass it off as nothing but she wouldn’t have it. “You’ve got that little frown between your eyebrows that you only get when something upsets you and your jaw is so tense I’m worried you might not be able to open it again,” she giggled as she pulled the piece of parchment out of my hands. I watched her eyes scan the letter and froze when I saw the betrayal in her eyes.
Some mornings, I resented myself for looking into her head that day, for taking advantage of her vulnerable state to uncover what exactly she had been hiding from me for weeks.
