I knew that I had to do this, and I knew in my heart that I could, it was a matter of actually doing it.
The Gates of Hell
"...You’ll have to blindly trust me Granger."
There was a flash of green light, even through my closed eyelids, and then… nothing.
“Take care of that rose.” He said, pointing to the one on my food tray. It’s… special.”
“Granger, stop. Demanding and begging for anything isn’t an attractive quality in anyone, least of all you."
"Granger, you don't know me at all. Just stay out of my business."
“I know that deep down, you are far better than you give yourself credit for. If someone doesn’t teach you a lesson, you’ll never learn on your own.”
The door creaked open and Narcissa Malfoy stepped in the room, giving me a small smile.
"What did she say about me?" He asked, this time looking me in the eyes.
I went into sensory overload as we stepped out onto the porch and the doors shut behind us, realizing this was the first time I’d stepped outside since I’d come here. I took a deep breath and shut my eyes, taking in the fresh air.
She took a deep breath and launched into the story.
There was a rush of wind as a train pulled up to the platform. He grabbed my hand and pulled me up.
Squealing brakes. Only one more stop. My breath was coming in shallow rasps now.
"You aren't the only one who can use Polyjuice, love." He said, smiling at me.
“Yes.” He said, his voice a whisper.
Crookshanks meowed from behind me and I smiled at him, making my way over to the bags to retrieve his food and water dishes, wondering all the while how I’d messed up so badly.
I wanted to break something. I wanted to yell and kick and scream and somehow release all this pain that had taken up residence in my heart.
“Don’t you worry, I have no intentions of hurting you,” she said, as if reading my mind. “I’m afraid that would rather defeat the purpose.”
Trying to empty my mind and block my thoughts of everything, Hermione especially, was far more difficult than I could have imagined.
I was hoping that tonight would make things better between us… it had to. I had just a few short hours to make sure that everything would be perfect
Was my heart ready for this?
“It’s a surprise,” he said, his smile more radiant than I’d ever seen.
A Taste of Home
I couldn’t help but gasp as I turned around. The wall was gone and instead, there was a large room. Not just a room, but a library.
“Ugh, you really are insufferable sometimes, you know that?” I asked and stood up from the table. He stood up, looking concerned.
He froze for a moment and I could tell he was in shock. I’d managed to do it again, I had the worst timing.
“I’ve always admired you, Hermione.”
