Ch. # Chapter Title Word Count Reviews
1 Chapter one - Best Friends Forever

He then turned to look at me, his hazel eyes twinkling amusedly. “Good morning sunshine.”

I could see the golden spots in them so clearly.

“Oh yeah, I’m practically the ray of light.” I rolled my eyes to him.

“You will always be to me.” He smiled warmly.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, was what I had to go through every day!

2 Chapter two - The Other Side of the Coin

“You’re still staring,” I pointed out.

“I know, just give me a moment,” the grin danced on his lips, his eyes didn't move.

“Oh lord,” I rolled my eyes.

And did a mental happy dance.

3 Chapter three - A Birthday Surprise

“Another proof of your oldness,” I sneered.

He threw a piece of bacon at me.

4 Chapter four - Good Behaviour

“What?” I almost laughed at her accusation, still plotting the easiest way to knock her out. Luckily she seemed to be thick. It might help cushion her fall after I pushed her out the window for looking at me like that. Some people just had no manners these days.

“Has the bludger really hit you that hard, or have you always been so slow?” She scowled at me.

The blond bimbo was calling me dense?

5 Chapter five - Great First Impression

Was this guy serious? I fought hard so I wouldn’t just burst into laughter.

“I’m sorry, but what on earth gave you the impression that I was even slightly interested?” I questioned.

6 Chapter six - Erase Those Thoughts

“Stop freaking her out, Jen.” She chuckled. “You don’t say stuff like that to Gwen or James. They panic and act weird. Look at her!”
“I wasn’t meaning to. I was just curious.” Jen’s brow furrowed.
That’s right!
Wait; what?
I spun my head towards Vic, the confusion practically shining from my face. She sighed and started to explain.

7 Chapter seven - New Year's Resolution

James pulled away instantly, bewilderment evident on his face.
“What was that?” he asked slowly.
I opened my mouth to make some witty reply, but shut it again quickly as I felt the panic rising in my chest. I wanted to desperately to run and hide, to clear my head, if only for a moment. But his hands were still around my waist, and it made it impossible to escape.
“It… It tickled.” I swallowed nervously.

8 Chapter eight - Cue the awkward silence

The room was quickly filled with mutterings and conversations on napkins, but the atmosphere between James and me was still awkward. He was still standing in the same spot, looking rather puzzled, a light pink colour still visible on his cheeks. I wanted to say something, but didn’t know how I could work on fixing it.
Oh Godric, this won’t end well.
He’ll bring up the subject later; I know it.
Because things weren’t damned well hard enough for me already…

9 Chapter nine – Wrong in every single way

“Something else is bothering you too, what is it?” I said in a hushed voice.
Once again he jerked his head into my direction, like just realising I was there too.
“It’s nothing,” he mumbled again.
“Please don’t lie. I’ve known you forever, I can see it even from the way you’re holding your broom. You, my friend, do not grasp the handle that tight normally.”

10 Chapter ten - Just Fine

His voice gave me courage and finally I managed to open my eyes all the way, only to see…
I blinked, but everything still stayed white. I lost count how many times I blinked during the next moments, but eventually the other colours started to show up too.

11 Chapter eleven – The Tingling Feeling

“Do the Healer’s normally feed their patients?” I questioned as I tried to shift into a more comfortable position.
“No,” he admitted with a chuckle. “But your team's manager requested the royal treatment.”
“Aah,” I nodded as I let him feed me some warm soup, trying not to let my disappointment show.
“I’m only kidding. Of course I’m happy to help, that’s what neighbours are for, right?”

12 Chapter twelve – The Ugly Sticks

I glared at the hideous things on my lap. There was no way I was going to use them! Never in a million years.
“You can support your weight with those and be able to walk. You can go home if it works.”
Actually I think there’s a muggle saying or something that you should try everything once, so maybe I was too harsh to judge the pieces of metal…

13 Chapter thirteen - No Surprise

“You staying here tonight?” I questioned, still eyeing at the bag.
“Huh?” he commented, finally lifting his gaze from the magazine. “Oh, yeah. You said I could, and I really didn’t want to stay there,” he continued, nodding towards his apartment.
I tried to conjure a comforting smile on my lips. “That bad?”

14 Chapter fourteen - Pure Perfection

“Hi,” I said with a small smile after opening the door and getting the first glimpse of the handsome man.
“You look beautiful,” he said, a huge smile lighting his face. I prayed that my knees weren’t making too much noise for him to notice as they knocked together at the sight of his smile.
Honestly, it should be illegal to make one feel this way with just a grin.

15 Chapter fifteen - Decisions

“He told you?” I felt stunned. I had not expected James to take such a big step yet.
“Well no, not really. I guessed.” Freddy shrugged, surprising me even more.
“You – guessed?” I repeated his words slowly, trying to make sure I had heard and understood him correctly.
“Well it was quite obvious,” he replied, a small grin on his lips.

16 Chapter sixteen - Out of Luck

But it wasn’t fine. It most definitely wasn’t even anything close. It was the most horrible thing ever, but for completely different reasons that I had expected.
The horde of reporters attacked us the moment the door opened. There were a lot more of them that I had anticipated, at least ten times more. I thought it was a bit odd as the cameras flashed in front of our faces. Sure, they hadn’t really seen us for a while, but I still didn’t think there would’ve been so many of them.

17 Chapter seventeen - Outburst

“I know, I know! I’m an idiot, you don’t have to tell me about it!” James shouted back.
“You got that right!”
James dropped his gaze to the floor and didn’t say anything to that. Ginny was breathing in and out furiously, trying to organize her thoughts and rubbing her temples with her fingertips while her son waited patiently for the next angry outburst.

18 Chapter eighteen - Euphoria

He was laughing as he let go of me and his eyes were twinkling joyfully. That, combined with how good he was looking today, had my thoughts wandering down the wrong track again – I don’t think there had ever been a moment when I had wanted to kiss him more. But luckily there was a cough coming from the doorway, interrupting us. My euphoria was so strong at that moment, who knows what I would’ve done.

19 Chapter nineteen - Confessions

Rosie’s eyes widened and the mug stopped on her lips as she was taken by surprise. My mouth twitched amusedly as I realised if I had spoken a few seconds later, I might now be covered with a spurt of coffee, judging by the look on her face.  I bet she never could have guessed this was the subject I wanted to talk about.

20 Chapter twenty - A Warm Welcome

James stared back, the traces of his amusement still visible on his lips. “Oh come on. Don’t I get a hug?” he questioned, his left hand running through his messy, dark hair.

Merlin, I had missed that sight.

“I don’t know,” I replied stubbornly, shaking the thoughts out of my head and crossing my arms to keep myself firm.

21 Chapter twenty-one - Too Early to Tell

“Too early to tell,” I simply told Freddy.
“Interesting,” he responded.
“Isn’t it?” I replied, smirking. “You can tell that to James too. And tell him to stop interfering, everything is perfectly fine with Joshua and he’s treating me well.”
“What – pfft – I was just curious…” he tried, but I wasn’t buying it.

22 Chapter twenty-two - Flying Again

I rolled my eyes. He was just being paranoid. The press didn’t have access anywhere near our locker room. “What do you want to talk about then?” I asked as I kneeled down to secure the knee pad on my injured leg.
The straps were all tightly fastened, but I still touched every one of them, just to…
“About how smoking you look in your Quidditch gear,” James’s reply interrupted me and I yanked the strap harder than I intended.

23 Chapter twenty-three - Heaven. Or Hell.

”In here!” James said suddenly, grabbing me by my shoulders and pushing me sideways through a door he’d just opened.
I stumbled into a tiny broom closet. It was dusty and looked like it hadn’t been used in years, but more importantly it was so small that I barely had enough room to turn around in it. There was no way we could both fit in there. I spun around quickly to protest, but didn’t get the chance when James just stepped in, pushing me closer to the shelf and pulling the door shut after him.

24 Chapter twenty-four - The Broom Closet Incidence

“Oh, alright,” I heard James comment, nodding as he turned his eyes away from me and pressed the elevator button.

Seriously, how could I face Joshua now after the broom closet incident? How would he react if I told him? Should I tell him? Would I ever be able to act normal if I didn’t?

25 Chapter twenty-five – News

I couldn’t stop myself; I was feeling so relieved by these news and that smile on his face. I threw my arms around his neck and hugged him. And he did hug me back, and for a moment everything was back to normal.

But the reality found its way back too soon and the awkwardness returned with it. Things were still too unresolved, and no matter how badly I wanted, one hug couldn’t fix it.

26 Chapter twenty-six - An Apology

“It’s fine,” he said curtly, still talking to his book.

“No, it really isn’t. I just…” I started, but closed my mouth eventually when the words just wouldn’t come out.
The silence was stifling. He kept flipping through his book and I kept staring at the floor, trying to figure out how to continue this failure of an apology.
