Ch. # Chapter Title Word Count Reviews
1 Prologue: The Girl In The Woods

The pain was getting worse, to the point of incapacitating her. The girl coughed up some more blood onto the forest floor, and then shakily wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. She balked at the horrid scent and whimpered a little, feeling utterly helpless. She hadn’t felt like this since…since… Well, she hadn’t felt like this in a long time.

It was incredibly frustrating.

2 Chapter One: Kira

James struck up a conversation about Quiddich with Sirius while Peter listened in rapture. Remus toned out their discussion, having no interest in the sport and desperately trying to get through his book.

No one seemed to notice as a girl weaved her way through the pandemonium, heading towards the Gryffindor table. She was almost knocked over a few times by some rowdy students, but she managed to recover and continue slinking along. She finally made it, although she looked slightly harassed. Sighing with relief, she plopped down next to Remus.

3 Chapter Two: Lily's Confrontation

Sirius put up a hand to stop her. “Whoa, whoa, whoa, back it up. Those plants are native to where exactly?” Kira blinked.

“Canada,” she repeated, taking care to pronounce it clearly.

“Canada…” Sirius raised his eyebrows and stared at the new girl, telepathically communicating his confusion.

Kira blinked again. “You… You seriously don’t know what Canada is?”

4 Chapter Three: Rainbow

Just as Sirius was about to reply, an indignant look on his face, the marauders discussion was suddenly cut short on account of Kira having walked in through the classroom door.

“I’m sorry, Professor,” she said, shifting her bag to a more comfortable position on her  shoulder and wincing. The marauders were all shocked at how pale she was. It made her long black hair stick out more than ever against her white complexion, making her look somewhat like a corpse. You know, if you wanted to be all pessimistic.

5 Chapter Four: The Traveling Four

“I…” Kira felt herself begin to hyperventilate and she had to calm herself down. The marauders eyes bored into her like drills, and she winced inwardly.

Then, she slowly lifted her left hand and closed her eyes, feeling strangely calm.

But then again, it was always calm before a storm.

6 Chapter Five: Full Moon

After an exciting day of classes (sarcasm), Remus was exhausted. And now he was nervous because Kira kept shooting him worried glances whenever she thought he wasn’t looking. That girl wasn’t too good at being discrete.

“Hey, Moony. Cheer up. You’ll get a good night’s sleep tonight and be fine for tomorrow,” Sirius said, patting Remus on the back.

“Yeah,” James agreed, swallowing a mouthful of Shepherd’s Pie, “just spiffy.”

7 Chapter Six: Professor Hart

“It’s fine, it’s fine,” James dismissed her apology with a nonchalant wave of his hand, “Completely understandable. Now, what I’m worried about is how to get these here killer worms to not eat my arm off…”

8 Chapter Seven: Puzzle pt. One

Remus spun around to look at her face-on, his amber eyes flashing. His arm jerked away from hers as he did this.

“How did you know what I was thinking?” Remus asked quietly, his eyes boring into Kira's.

Kira looked around frantically, momentarily disorientated by the mass of people surging in the common room.

Now was not the time for politeness.

9 Chapter Eight: Puzzle pt. Two

Remus Lupin felt something click in his mind. Two puzzle pieces had snapped together.

He didn’t know what it meant yet, but he sure as hell was going to find out.

How had they known?

There was no way they could have tracked them… Maybe one of the others had been caught and forced to give information- no, that was impossible. They were too well trained.

Trained to die rather than give up information.

10 Chapter Nine: Tactics

‘We know you’re out there.’

He and his brother had been stupid and cocky. He only hoped that their slip didn’t cost them their lives...

“Ah, well, about that. Umm…” Kira looked around nervously, icy blue eyes looking for a way to distract the boys from the current conversation. She found nothing and resigned to her inability to stall the marauders any longer.

“We’ll come into your dormitory at midnight.”

11 Chapter Ten: Our Mark

“This,” Kira said quietly, her eyes closing briefly and taking a slow breath, “Is what I have on my right arm.”

“Dammit,” the man mumbled angrily. He pushed his hair back behind his ear absently, not even thinking about the action.

“Dammit,” he repeated, gritting his teeth.

“Hello there, Ren,” said the sinister looking man.

“I'm going to kill you."
