Prologue - Snow
“Fine.” She paused for a moment, trying to find the right words. She decided to keep it simple. “I think we should break up.”
“No professor,” Peter murmured, but the damage was done: Victoria couldn’t get rid of the traitorous lump in her throat, and the fact that she was about to cry was, indeed, proof of her ridiculously pathetic feelings.
Eight girls in a library
Unable to take it anymore, Victoria said, “This is ridiculous. Fine, we might’ve dated the same guy, but that’s no reason for us to get together and do whatever the hell we’re supposed to be doing in this club!” She tried to smile, so that she wouldn’t seem too rude.
“Will you please tell James that I need to talk to him?” she asked politely. “It’s quite important.”
According to Isabelle Hodge, Roxanne was Sirius’ next victim.
Of vicious teenagers and tiny professors
“If you two will try to get Isabelle,” Victoria said to Hannah and Norah, “Mary and I’ll get Charlotte. Won’t we?” she asked the quirky blonde, but Mary had already joined Maryellen hiding behind the bookshelves.
She’d be able to express herself better if she wasn’t so affected by his presence. She felt her cheeks heat up, and she averted her gaze. Playing absentmindedly with a loose thread on her sweater, she said softly, “So what do you say? I know I’m two years too late, but I think we ought to try.”
