Woes of the Minister of Magic
A disaster averted throws the Wizarding World into chaos, and now the Minister needs to pass a teeny proposal that could have giant effects. Once again it is Kingsley Shacklebolt who saves the day.
Playing Model UN
“I didn’t come here to play model UN with the children,” a cranky leader grumbled to his liaison. “You said that national security was at stake, but all I see is a bunch of sods in suits and freaks in long black floppy robes!”
Dangerous Alliances and Memos
An executive calls for a secret meeting with Lucius, who unexpectedly finds himself with an asset even the Dark Lord would love him for. Meanwhile, Scrimgeour has to deal with the repercussions of his new order and an unexpected resignation.
Escaping (Mostly) Unscathed
“We always have reason to distrust others,” Voldemort hissed. “I cannot continue to trust you any longer. Your judgment has been lacking as of late. Your insubordination will not be tolerated. Do you understand me?”
Complications at the Ministry
Kingsley has a run-in with department head Pius Thicknesse, who is wondering about the hoards of angry liaisons who have invaded the Ministry. Then he realizes that Thicknesse may be planning more than he is letting on, endangering the new order and the Ministry itself.
Straight into the Hands of the Enemy
“Ten thousand? An order for ten thousand alarms?!” Erickson’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline. Racing around his desk, he ran to the doorway in which she stood. Impatiently he snatched the memo out of her hand.
Of Cowards and Fools
“And if you want Voldemort dead, you should listen to me! You can’t hide here forever, Minister! Cowards who hide get trapped in the end by their own cowardice.” He huffed and made towards the door once more. “We should strike while we have the advantage of time, not sit here awaiting our doom with smiles on our faces!”
Delivery and Response
An unexpected owl that arrives at the Malfoy Manor puts Voldemort in a good mood. Meanwhile, the Minister’s long-awaited statement is finally delivered. How will an average wizarding family—the Weasleys—respond?
Ignoring the gasping sob that tore itself from the young man’s throat, the Dark Lord pressed on. His high voice escalated mercilessly. “If they do not come of their own accord, they will be coerced or deceived. At this hour tomorrow, they must be here. I will keep you all under my scrutiny for 24 hours a day. Remember, you are an outsider here, Mr. Erickson, and I will treat you as one.”
A Rift in the Making
In the Ministry, voices speak tauntingly of something forbidden. Just what it is, nobody (with the exception of two sneaks) knows, but it's pretty obvious that the whispers are heralding in a rift in the making.
“I don’t think I’m quite cottoning on, mate,” Ron told Harry, his normally pale face as white as a sheet. “You want to go into Malfoy Manor—inside the house—and attack You-Know-Who in his own lair?”
The Plight of the Ericksons
The Erickson family is welcomed at Malfoy Manor.
Persuasion and Invasion
“Stick to the plan, but don’t forget what our main objective is,” Tonks said. “If you have a chance to kill Voldemort, Merlin knows you’d better take it.”
The sparkling form of the Dark Mark sprang forth from his wand, hissed once at the crowd, and then slithered away through the walls.
Battle of the Backups/Battle of Wills
Fred was the first to see them coming.
Battle of Malfoy Manor
“ARRRRRAGGHGHGHH!” Kingsley’s bellow ripped through the air and his legs quivered. He fell to his knees. “REMUS!”
Complications in the Muggle World
Rowle witnesses a hit and the Prophet hits the stands.
