Ch. # Chapter Title Word Count Reviews
1 Chapter 1: Starting Over; All The Way

Hermione, likewise, was feeling rather nostalgic. She was still a little bit anxious about acting as a completely different person; she had written and studied her profile the previous night, making sure that her surname had a little bit of history that she could relate to. She had also written Harry’s and Ron’s profiles; it helped her feel more in control.

If there was anything about Hermione that she couldn’t hide under the false appearance of Blair Meriadoc, it was her need for control.

2 Chapter 2: Unrequited Affection

Hermione started; apparently, someone had entered the compartment during her reverie.

The ever-smirking Draco Malfoy stood in the doorway, giving Hermione the once-over.

3 Chapter 3: Moonlit Magic

“Well, he isn’t. He’s a damn sneak!” Malfoy drew his wand, and Nate likewise drew his, standing. “You’ll pay for poking around where you don’t belong!” He sent a silent curse flying at Nate.

“Protego!” Nate deflected the curse with the Shielding Charm. “Expelliarmus!”

Damn it! Thought Blair. The moron! I can’t believe he just did that!

Malfoy had also noted Nate’s choice of spell; he narrowed his eyes. “Who are you?”

4 Chapter 4: Animagi

Professor McGonagall continued even though there were whispers floating around the room as people daydreamed about being Animagi.

“However, an Animagus must be registered….”

Blair looked over at Nate, already knowing what he was thinking. Sure enough, he sat fascinated as well, drinking in McGonagall’s words.

Malfoy caught her eye. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” He whispered.

“What are you thinking?” Whispered Blair.

“We’ve got to become Animagi."

5 Chapter 5: Progressions

Harry’s eyes snapped open; he looked this time into Peter Farr’s bright blue eyes rather then Snape’s cold, bottomless pair.

“You were thrashing about under your covers. Nightmares?”

Harry crammed his glasses onto his face. “Yeah,” he mumbled. “I had a nightmare about, er, werewolves. Sorry for waking you up.”

6 Chapter 6: Sparks of Rebellion

Ginny’s philosophy was that Hogwarts could never turn Dark until the students deemed it so. That was why the fight against the Slytherins loyal to Voldemort was essential. Voldemort, who was rumored to be out of the country recruiting for his Dark forces, must be ignorant of the fact that his plans to educate young witches and wizards in the Dark Arts and encourage them to become thusly would not come true. Not if Ginny could help it.

7 Chapter 7: Violent Fury

“So this is his idea of revenge. I suppose I’m partly to blame, although I don’t see how he took so much offense to it.”

“What’d you say, Ginny?” Ron moaned.

“I said that he was too pathetic to hurt first-years or something. And I asked him if is father had disfigured him, because he hid his right hand in his pocket and was cursing me with his left.” Ginny pressed lightly on her right cheekbone and grimaced.

“Surely that wouldn’t earn you a possible death warrant?"

8 Chapter 8: Specialus Revelio

Hermione paced around the room. “He revealed Harry’s scar… you saw him on the floor when we left. And… hell, he legilimized me!” She began to shake with panic. “That’s why he said that… that he had known me longer than I thought he did.”

“When did this happen?” Asked Ron, voice breaking. “I’m going to go get McGonagall. She’ll let us use the Floo or something.”

Hermione sank to the floor, pale as snow. “What’s he going to do now?”

9 Chapter 9: A New Order Member

“Will you quit your life as servant of the Dark Lord and turn away from the Dark Arts?”

“I will.”

A final flame, this time blazing white, would delicately around the clasped hands.

10 Chapter 10: Something Wicked

Voldemort took the hard-backed chair. “So, Severus, how does Hogwarts stand?”

“I still have not been able to remove some of the spells that may encumber the… progress you have in mind.”

Voldemort stared around himself. “I trust that you are working hard. Does the Order confide any secrets of the Potter boy’s location?”

Snape’s eyes hardened. “No. Dumbledore’s foolish trust in me clearly has not rubbed off onto the rest of the Order. They do not trust me with certain secrets.”

11 Chapter 11: Playing With Fire

“…You foul git!” She said loudly. “You can’t just leave me to sit alone in Three Broomsticks. Where are you going that I can’t come with you?”

Malfoy pried her hands off of his sleeve, looking rather frustrated. “You wouldn’t want to come anyway, Arabelle. I just have to do something… private. I know you feel left out, but…”

Arabelle slapped him suddenly. Her violet eyes were on fire. “Don’t tell me how I feel. You’re going to go the same way as your father."

12 Chapter 12: Little Riddle

Zabini swallowed some Pumpkin Juice. “Draco’s Aunt Bellatrix just had-”

Malfoy whacked him upside the head. “Shut up,” he hissed.

Blaise looked rather affronted as he rubbed the side of his head. “Why don’t you want me to say? Blair won’t tell anyone from the Order. It’s hardly that important anyway.”

Blair gave Malfoy a deadly look. “Tell me.” It was amusing to watch him squirm. Little did he know, she already knew what happened at Malfoy manor. She just wanted some details.

13 Chapter 13: Ultimatum

Hermione looked slightly unnerved at the thought of it. “But we have to plan it, Malfoy. We can’t just leave the school without an idea of what we’re doing!”

She stopped walking, and he turned to face her. “Maybe I should tell you everything,” she said.

“Yeah, that would be nice,” said Malfoy, eyes rolling skyward. He leaned against the wall of the corridor. “Hit me.”

14 Chapter 14: Number Twelve

McGonagall tossed a hasty handful of Floo powder into the fire and looked to Harry.

“We’re going to Sirius’ place,” he supplied.

“Are you sure that is wise?” She asked. “There could very well be Death Eaters there now.”

Harry nodded. “I know.”

15 Chapter 15: Nightmares

“What happened?” Malfoy’s voice was surprisingly urgent.

Harry steadied himself against the wall. “Malfoy, Voldemort attacked the Grangers.” Desperation, panic, and sorrow were all evident in his voice. “Hermione… I’ve got to tell Hermione; her Dad’s dead, Voldemort killed him.” His voice broke at his last words.

16 Chapter 16: Friend and Foe

“Hello, stranger,” she said jokingly. “Guess you’re sort of getting used to me being here.”

Malfoy nodded. So now she was joking? “Why aren’t you upset?” He blurted.

Still clutching her new book, she looked up at him, frowning. “I am.”

“But you don’t show a thing. You don’t cry; your eyes don’t even water. And you don’t seem angry. It’s like you….”

17 Chapter 17: Discovery

Hermione glared at Ron, who was suddenly overly interested in his breakfast. “How you can you be so indifferent?” She snapped sharply. “It’s as if you don’t care!” She stood up abruptly, knocking her chair over loudly, scooped up the book, and stormed out of the kitchen.

Malfoy sighed heavily and righted Hermione’s chair. “Get off your bum, Weasley,” he said, stalking out of the room after her.

Ron threw his remaining toast at Malfoy, but it missed. Grumbling, Ron followed him out.

18 Chapter 18: The Other Secret

Ron banged his fist on the table, making Malfoy, Harry, and Hermione all jump in comical surprise. “How dare you suggest that Hermione’s got Dark relatives?”

“It’s the truth, Weasley. The lineage fits perfectly. And when it comes down to it, haven’t we all got Dark relatives?” Malfoy growled. “When you decide to grow up, why don’t you join us?”

19 Chapter 19: Depart

Hermione stared after him incredulously. Then she looked at Harry. "He found out we were leaving, didn't he?"

The sharp sound of metal on tile sounded from the kitchens.

Harry nodded from his place in the corner. Hermione groaned and followed Ron's path down the stairs.

20 Chapter 20: Barrier

Malfoy and Hermione turned the corner and were stopped suddenly by a large group of people. The sight was completely contradictory to what they had seen so far of Diagon Alley.

But rather than a crowd of cheerful, socializing shoppers, the people were all silent and solemn, looking worried and stressed. Two witches that looked to be barely older than Malfoy and Hermione seemed to be on the verge of tears.

21 Chapter 21: Widespread

Concentrating, Ron raised his wand and pointed it at the center of the yard. He closed his eyes for a moment, opened them, then said calmly but firmly, “Specialus Revelio.”

Nothing happened. “Try again,” said Harry, but Ron wasn’t looking at him. Ron was gazing at the yard in horror and fascination. Harry looked at the point Ron seemed to be focused on and saw… nothing. “Ron, what is it?”

22 Chapter 22: Convergence

Bellatrix strayed off of the set path and began to fight her way through the thickets of briars and ivy, still holding her daughter.

Several yards in, she stopped abruptly, and pivoted to her left to a dead tree. Blackened perhaps by a bolt of lightning, the tree appeared as a jagged, otherworldly landmark to Harry. For he finally realized where he was.
