The Perfect Plan
I’m becoming so evil, Hermione thought, giggling to herself. I’m a vengeful, evil little girl, aren’t I? I’m actually laughing at another person’s fears. Even if the other person is Malfoy, I still shouldn’t be plotting against him…
Highly Private Classes
“Ah, good evening,” said Dumbledore. “Which one of you can tell me where we stopped last week?”
The Diary Entry
But something on the open page had caught his eye. He instantly realized that the diary had fallen open at a different page when he threw it. He very slowly took a step towards it, not wanting to touch it now that he realized it was Hermione’s diary, and searched for the word he had glimpsed when he was shaking his head... There it was: Draco Malfoy.
Things Left Unsaid
The sun was setting beautifully between the distant mountains when Hermione reached the lake. She positioned herself in direct view of the main entrance of Hogwarts castle, yet quite a distance away from it, not wanting to seem too obvious. Then she waited.
O Ginny What Have You Done
“You’re going to go crying to your precious Harry Potter? Cuz, you know, that would break the Vow and you would drop dead on the spot. Not to mention it would put his life in danger more than it already is,” said the boy.
"So... you were saying? ...I’m the son of a death eater, my aunt is Bellatrix Lestrange, and me being nice to you is creepy... Oh, also, I think you said ‘This is weird’ when I kissed you,” Malfoy said with a sparkle of amusement in his eye. He then tilted his face closer to hers.
The Witch & The Wardrobe
“Why else would she keep this letter, Ron? It must mean she has feelings for…” Hermione's voice trailed away as she turned to Harry with pity-filled eyes.
A plan was in action. Professor McGonagall, having received the grave news about Mrs Weasley, hurried off to inform the Order – but not before leaving Harry, Ron and Hermione a set of stern instructions.
To Be or Not To Be
Hermione was fidgeting badly. Harry surreptitiously watched her from the corner of his eye; he was counting the number of times she grabbed her curls and tugged at them with obvious frustration, or nibbled at her thumb nail, or bit on the inside of her cheek. He planned to ask her what was wrong as soon as the total of nervous movements hit twenty.
Lions Do Roar
“HARRY POTTER! What is the meaning of this? Why are there three unconscious students lying on the floor in my wing?!” Madam Pomfrey shrieked at Harry and Ginny. Harry hastily tried to get his feet but they refused to hold him up, and he felt an extreme rush of blood to the head. He spoke with effort. “I’ll explain… everything… just give me… a moment…"
Malfoy held Harry’s gaze and nodded imperceptibly after a moment. The nod – combined with Malfoy’s expression – spoke volumes in Harry’s eyes. Thanks, Potter. You’re alright.
“I have an idea,” Malfoy said suddenly, and he told it to them quickly. They all agreed grudgingly, and the conversation ended ten minutes later; that’s all the time it took them to establish who was going, what to do if they got caught, and the fact that they were to leave the very next morning.
"Are you alright?” Harry asked Ginny gently, taking her hand.
The Last Night
Hermione studied Harry’s face. She could tell that he felt vulnerable and insecure, and on some level he was truly scared. She herself was terrified, not for herself but for the people she loved. “I don’t know, Harry. I don’t think anybody knows what’s a good idea anymore – we just do what we feel we have to do."
Into the Real World
To make up for lost time (I hadn't updated for, what, 2 months??) I'm posting chapters 16 and 17 together, which i had ready for a while now. I'll start 18 soon so there shouldn't be another long wait... This chapter (in which Harry and the others finally leave, and we get a glimpse of enemies ecoming true friends, love being openly declared, and some light-vs-dark action) is dedicated to everybody who's stuck around so far, even as I started my new job and allowed it pull me away from our beloved HP world.
Ginny stood frozen to the spot, not knowing what to do. She glanced towards the thing in the wall, which was glinting and gleaming brighter than ever now. Without thinking, she took out her wand and aimed at it. “Accio horcrux.”
“It’s only keeping me out,” he said to Ginny, who was much closer to the marked tombstone than he was. “It’s not affecting you.”
Ginny leant further over the banister, trying to get a clear view of the hallway directly opposite the front door, which is where the commotion was coming from. She could see more than twenty figures hooded and cloaked figures that she was sure weren’t members of the Order.
Arrival and Departure
Harry looked up and saw that he turned a corner onto a well-lit street. It wasn’t so late at night that all the houses were dark, but also wasn’t still early enough for there to be many people outside. He gazed idly from pretty house to pretty house as he continued to wonder where Voldemort would be. Grimmauld Place would be a good place to run into some death eaters. They would take Harry to their master.
Princeton makes an unexpected visit that reunites them.
Now that they had a plan – one final mission to lure Voldemort out of his lair and end his reign of terror – they were practically forcing themselves to forget about the Dark Lord ...
