From the pre-quill "Poetry"
The castle loomed nearer and lightning streaked across the sky, lighting the wet castle and grounds up. The lightning made him jump, and he felt again as if he were going to cry. What if his father were mean to him? What if his father sent him away?
The Headmaster let the boy think for a few moments in silence, before he said gently, “We had a clover here once. Her name was Kaden. She was in Ravenclaw house. That was 12 years ago.”
A New Home
Professor McGonagall nodded. “Yes, I remember. She was a beautiful young child. She always did well in my class…except the day she turned a table leg into a rabbit on accident of course.” Benjamin’s eyes grew wide. “Can you teach me to do that?”
“Where are we going?” “Hogsmead,” Severus said simply. “Oh.” The night before he hadn’t gotten a good look at the wizarding village. He had seen a few buildings and the train station, but through the rain it was hard to see anything else.
“Has the Headmaster spoken to you?” Severus asked. Ollivander shook his head as he descended the ladder with several long, thin boxes in hand. “No no, of course not. Not in an age.”
The Meaning of a Name
“You don’t want me to be like you?” “No,” he shook his head. “I do not.”
The Sorting (Year one begins)
“Well then, what do you want most?” Benjamin thought. I want friends, and I want to learn everything I can. I want to be liked. (YEAR ONE BEGINS)
"You remember this: Clancy Tynan gets the last laugh. When you least expect it, I’ll have my fun.
"Do you think sticking up for somebody is the right thing to do if you feel they have been falsely accused?” Benjamin nodded and Severus continued, “Then do not feel ashamed for doing what you did."
Bane took off again, and they finally came to a large, heavy wooden door. “It’s locked,” Bane said quickly, rattling the handle and trying to push on it.
"Considering that you are an easy child to deal with…” he paused, rethinking his sentence, “seeing that you stayed out of trouble for the most part this last term, and your grades have remained high, I believe you deserve it.”
Professor MacGowan (Year Two Begins)
“I don’t like you. You lied to me. How do I know you’re not lying to me right now?”
Little Benny Snape
“Don’t talk ethics to me!” MacGowan said. “Or maybe you think I’m lying?”
Rules of War
Pomfrey hurried over with a large bucket, which she placed in Ben’s lap once Severus lifted his son into a sitting position. “It may be the only way dear,” she said in what was supposed to be a comforting tone. If you can’t tell us what happened, you’ll have to have out with it in liquid form.”
The Apple and the Tree
“You know… I was wrong about you Benjamin.” Benjamin looked up, surprised.
Home Again (Year Three Begins)
“Maybe…” Benjamin’s interest was peaked, and he suddenly wanted to know everything about Knocturn alley and why his friend had been in there. “Your parents let you go in?” he asked.
Games and Girls
“What are you looking at?” Bane asked him. Darius’ head snapped back to them, and his cheeks began to tint red.
Dueling masters wouldn’t say no to a good fight would they?
