“Absorbed in books, as always Teddy Bear,” she giggled, using her old nickname for him.
“It was one of Uncle George’s new inventions,” he shrugged. “He told me to test it on someone and I thought you would be a good subject.”
“What do you want?” she muttered, trying not to look at him.
“Are you all right?” George asked, waving a hand in front of her face. Victoire blinked a few times, focusing on what just happened.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” she shrieked, scooting a bit farther away from him as if he was contaminated with werewolf germs or something.
“I should…go,” Victoire murmured. “Wouldn’t want him to come back. Well, um, thank you.” Thank you?
“Sorry ‘bout the mess,” Teddy muttered, kicking a stack of papers aside.
“I think you should go,” Victoire muttered to Teddy. He nodded and frowned slightly. Teddy knew as well as she did that this wasn’t going to go over well.
“Why did you lie to them?” Ginny asked, once her niece was through telling her story. Victoire only shrugged. Why had she lied to them in the first place? Oh yeah. Nervousness.
As much she liked surprises, it’d be nice to know where she was going at least.
