Even at such a young age Gabby knew of the depth of the situation, and she had been the one who had done this to her brother. Gabby sat with her parents outside Remus’ room as the healers worked, she cried for the mistake she had made, for what was going to be of Remus’ life, but also of the love her brother had for her. She knew then she didn’t deserve such love, but he most certainly deserved hers. Remus had taken the life of suffering to spare Gabby of it.
“What’s up with him?” Sirius asked James quietly as they walked behind Remus.
"...I want to be seen as…” she stopped, not being able to think of the word.
“You can stop doing that Padfoot,” Remus told Sirius quietly so the girls near them didn’t hear.
“Are you laughing at me?” she asked, becoming annoyed.
James inhaled and exhaled slowly, calming himself. “What I just saw was not nothing,” he said through gritted teeth.
