Faye stood and stared at her house. No warm, yellow light was coming from the windows. It looked cold and dark inside. The pale light of the dimmed street lamp shone on her wet and tear stained face as her broken features studied the surroundings. Summer flowers were still in bloom in the flower beds and the sweet scent encircled her. Faye closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
