Lily and James go to read their baby son Harry a bedtime story, but are sick of the same old fairytales. They decide to tell him the story of how they met and fell in love instead, but disagree on the details. Even though Harry has fallen asleep by this time anyway, they agree to tell each other their story truthfully, to see what they each really thought of their final two years at Hogwarts.
“Prongs, stop staring at Lily and move,” snapped Sirius. James had been looking through the carriage window at Lily for nearly five minutes now.
Revenge and Underpants
"Those Guys Are So Dead."
A Small Difference of Opinion
“Snape did what to you after potions last week!?!” exploded James, jumping to his feet so fast that his plate fell off the table and broke with a crash on the floor. Snape, who had just walked in the hall, turned and abruptly left again.
Lunchtime was another haze of “Lily, please go out with me”, the more commanding “Go out with me Evans” and, Lily’s personal favourite, the “Come on Lily, how can you resist this?” which was followed by the usual ‘sexy’ dance.
Staying with Lily
“You could just have sex with James,” mocked Jenni.
Funerals and Words of Consolation
“Lily it’s not your fault,” James said sorrowfully, “Look I got to go check on Remus… I’ve never seen him like this before.”
Letters, Smirking and Cleanliness
Lily quickly showered and got dressed. After fixing her hair she walked into the Common Room and screamed.
If James changes, it changes everything.
“Who can take a sunrise? Sprinkle it in dew. Cover it in chocolate and a miracle or two? The Candyman!” Sirius began to sing – loudly. Remus joined in for the chorus, “Oh the Candyman can! The Candyman can ‘cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good!”
Love letters and heart-aches
Lily decided this was not the time to break her friend’s innocence on the matter of Sirius Black (as far as Lily was concerned, it was the last fragment of innocence she had left), and just nodded.
Talking is a basic skill that no-one seems to be able to use
On the wall in irreversible ink was scrawled ‘Padfoot loves McKenzie P.S Marauders Rule’.
Lily needs a Hero - but a Heroine will suffice
Remus snapped his book shut and got to his feet. He yelled, “You don’t understand do you? Maybe one day when you’re mature enough to actually love someone, you’ll begin to understand what I feel!”
“Lily, you look… beautiful,” said Hunter in awe.
“Oh yeah,” smiled James, eyes still closed, “That was stupid of me. I love Lily.”
In which there is Quidditch
“Well we’ve got a Quidditch Game starting,” Jenni glanced at her watch, “Five minutes ago…”
Candles on a Lake
“It was me!” shouted Lauren from across the lake, “I told Hunter he should break up with you!”
The Competition Begins
“Ok Sirius, we’ve got mini-muffins and two broomsticks – screw the rest, we’re off to Mexico!” yelled Jenni, running out and taking Sirius after her.
The First Clue
“They’re all going to the wrong place,” smiled Lily, “We don’t need to go to Italy at all. We need to find out who that wizard was – to the library!”
Through fire and ice - The Second Clue
“I can’t sleep,” he muttered, “I keep getting this bad feeling about this whole thing.”
The Third Clue
“I’ve got it, I’ve got it!” grinned Remus, rushing up to Lily and Lauren, “Quick, let’s get out of here!”
Of Mice and Men
“Voldemort,” Lauren finished for him, almost in a whisper, “And the Slytherins are for all we know still ahead of us!”
“Ouch,” he frowned, his dignity hurt, “And I love you too sweetie.” He turned to Remus, “You too sweetie,” he added with a wink.
Christmas Eve and Alex's Return
“We’ve won, we’ve won!” yelled Jenni, racing up the drive to Hogwarts castle.
Love and Lies
Lily gets a wonderful Christmas gift from James, but just as everything seems to be going perfectly, things take a turn for the worse...
James put his hand on the handle and had begun to open the door...
“No change,” Sirius told Jenni, Lauren and Peter who were all still waiting outside the ward Remus was in, “The healer is expecting the results back any minute.”
A Heartfelt Engagement
“No you don’t!” James exclaimed, surprised by the stupidity of her statement, “How can you possibly know what I’m going through?”
Egypt Part One
“Scared much?” Lauren asked him with an evil grin.
Egypt: Part Two
“Stop it Lauren, please listen to me this time. We both know it, why can’t you let us be together?” asked Mikey.
Where Time and Power Meet
“Do you think anyone is there yet?” asked Lily, speaking for the first time since they’d entered the staircase.
The Secrets Revealed
“On your way to Dumbledore eh?” laughed James, “I knew it! You do have the amulet! I knew it. Who else would be trusted with it?”
A Bad Morning
“Oh come on Lily, I’m just sick of wasting time like this,” James complained, “You know that I still like you, and you like me too. I’ve seen you watching me.”
Valentine's Day Again
James looked at her seriously, “Because we’re not supposed to move on Lily. I love you, and I really mean that. I’ll never be over you.”
“You can do it,” Jenni assured her, “He loves you.”
“Who’d want to kidnap Wormtail?” laughed James, “Unless he is with Katie of course. Maybe she didn’t let him go this time.”
The Quidditch Final
James woke up with a new sense of purpose. The Quidditch Cup final would be in two days – his last quidditch match ever at Hogwarts.
A Disturbance in the Great Hall
“I’m going to ask Lily to marry me,” James grinned. Sirius’ hand jumped with his surprise, and the tower exploded. Once they’d reattached Remus’ eyebrows, Sirius and Remus began to question him.
She was engaged. She could do whatever the hell she wanted!
“There’s an 80% chance McGonagall is going to kill you on sight,” Lily informed her.
