One Prank Too Far
McGonagall continued to teach class, but no one was listening. All minds were focused on one thing: The Marauders were no more.
The New Social Hierarchy
"You want me to die, don't you?" James spat. I stared at him coolly. "If I had wanted you to die, I would've performed the task to perfection."
A Multitude of Controversies
I placed my wand back into my robes and headed towards the castle. For the first time in my life, I walked away from a friend in need.
The Middleman's Land
“You’re not a Gryffindor, Pettigrew!” Snape shouted. “You’re a Slytherin by blood. There is no courage within you, only a twisted sense of loyalty and a thirst to prove yourself!”
An Outsider's Perspective
"Fine." I brushed a lock of hair away from my face. "You guys didn't really break up just becuase of a simple 'misunderstanding,' did you?"
Let the Drama Begin
I wiped my lips with the back of my hand. "No I didn't, Sirius. If you would notice, she kissed me, not the other way around."
James sighed and observed his quill. "It's just so natural for you to assume that I'm lying when something doesn't match up, right?" I favored him with a wry look. "Well you don't exactly have a very favorable reputation backing you up."
It happened in a heartbeat. I had lifted my wand, and in that second, the snake lashed out and sank its fangs into my left shoulder.
Repentance and Development
Kathryn's lips twisted into a wry grin. "Right. So much for being friends." I sighed and in an impulsive moment, reached out and grabbed her hand, ignoring the sparks that jolted through my arm. "Kathryn, listen to me."
They're not coming tonight, human, the monster laughed, the sound grating my nerves. They have left you and the dog here to die.
Dishing Out the Dirt
"You are such a filthy liar," I hissed, taking a step towards him. "You said you wouldn't lie when we made the pact! You gave me your bloody word."
Things So Hidden
"You're so bloody perfect, James," Sirius spat. "If you make a mistake, no one gives a damn because you're the Golden Boy! You're the James Potter!"
"To most of us, you have exactly what James has...maybe even more. You're popular, good-looking, and surprisingly enough, brilliant. What reason would you have to be jealous?"
They were undoubtedly exceptionally happier than they had been in a long time, and I knew that everything would be okay in the end.
At Long Last
The room suddenly went quiet. Peter sucked in a breath. Sirius's eyes were wide with disbelief but Remus was simply smiling. And through all this, all I could say was "Wow."
