The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black
Where a party is held at the Black House, and where eleven-year-old James Potter meets interesting people.
Of the diplomatic virtues of a flying broomstick
Where Mrs Black, Regulus, a Quidditch game and a ghoul all help Sirius and James to discover how much they share, and where "Mischief managed" is heard for the very first time.
Where another kind is discovered: not-so-pure-blood greasy monkeys
James and Sirius are introduced to a greasy monkey; there is a fight in a corridor, involving the said monkey, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius and James, but it was the trunk’s entire fault; and a strange boy is all alone in the very last compartment of the train.
Where we begin to wonder about Remus' problem
There’s just one more monster at Hogwarts this year; the Sorting Hat is threatened with being set in fire and silenced for good; we have a first glimpse of a certain redhead; and Remus decides he can’t afford friends.
Of the different uses of parchment planes and Levitation Spells
James and Sirius are working on shattering the image of perfect students they acquired (much against their will); Peter sees spiders on the ceiling; Lily Evans is dancing in the air; and Remus is just… Remus.
Of snowball fights, death by soap bubbles and family obligations
The four friends kick the – ahem – most noble part of the Slytherins’ anatomy; James is complimented on his aim by a very unexpected someone; calm and quiet Remus has two outbursts in the same day; and there are many letters exchanged during the holidays.
Of condors, wandering at night and moon-gazing
A condor crosses the Atlantic Ocean; James receives two presents; Sirius wonders how one person can attract so much trouble; and Remus gazes at the moon.
Of monsters, vicious trees, socks and metaphors
James and Sirius spend extra time in the library; James fights with a tree; Remus isn’t a monster; Peter has run out socks; and Dumbledore shouldn’t use woolly metaphors to convince Professor McGonagall.
Of fantastic stories, scales and reunion
Remus spends the night in the cellar; James is tortured every day between 3 and 4.30; Mrs. Potter talks through a mirror; and Sirius is glued to his brother.
Of muffins, crazy ideas and butterflies
Peter points out he isn't an animal - and nor are James and Sirius; Sirius says goodbye; eardrums in oil painting are very difficult to mend; and Mrs. Potter dances like a twelve-year-old.
Of Nosebleeds, Mischievous Mirrors and Disastrous Trips
James makes a particularly nasty encounter on the platform; Lily Evans is stuck in the bathroom; nobody ever bother to ask Peter; and on the whole, it's a rather disastrous beginning for a second year at Hogwarts.
Of Broom Cupboards, Fights and Apple Pies
Sirius has left his self-confidence in the carriage; Remus has a panic fit; Peter has an extremely developed sense of smell and James loves éclairs—though éclairs obviously don't love him.
Of Disturbed Stomachs, Green Hair and Ballet
Sirius wonders what strange potions James was fed in the Hospital Wing; James has hairdresser written across his forehead; and a Chaser acts like a hen with an egg.
