How to Smile
Lily Evans's last semester at Hogwarts was comprised of tragedy and grief. She lost her parents, then her boyfriend, and her will to live. She has dreamt about going home for six months but now that she has graduated, she realizes she would rather go anywhere than that dark, empty house that used to be home.
Lily falls to sleep on the back porch and in her dream, remembers the night her parents were murdered.
After James says goodnight to Lily, it is time for her to enter her childhood bedroom for the first time since the murder of her parents.
Lily has to face a night in her childhood bedroom all alone, but the memories overwhelm her so she seeks sympathy in James.
Despite everything that she feels for James, Lily realizes she is just holding him back and comes to the conclusion that she must cut all ties between them once and for all.
In his own way, Sirius tries to help James figure out what to do about Lily Evans.
She stopped in front of the mirror on her way to the front door, preparing to quickly finger-comb her hair. When she met the eyes of her reflection she clapped her hands to her face....
Dear James and Sirius,
Do You Realize?
Lily returns home after drinks with the Marauders at the Three Broomsticks, hurt that she isn't accompanied by one of them.
