                                                                                                               JOCYLYNN’S POV

The days seemed to go by like a blur. My days surrounded my friend, homework, and reading. Soon it was October 20th. Scorpius got me a book called The Ways Of A Broomstick and Albus got me chocolate frogs.

However, Scorpius had quidditch practice and Albus had detention with Professor Flitwick. So I headed to the library by myself.

When I got to the library, it was empty except for the librarian. I sat down at a table and pulled out my mom’s letter.

Dear Lynn,

Happy birthday. I hope you are doing well and getting your schoolwork done on time. Your father got a promotion and is very happy because of it. (He has almost become unbearable, always bragging.)

I trust that you have made friends this year. If not, well, what’s another friendless year?

Speaking of friends, Lilian is moving. She let us know so we could tell you. She will be going to New York, which your father believes to be in America. She does wish you a happy birthday though.

Also, you cannot come home for Christmas this year. Your father and I are going to see Thomas and Claire as they are expecting. (Plus you know that your father has not been to his brothers in years and Thomas personally invited him.)

Please do write back. We have not heard from you since you got there.

With love,

P.S. Anything your mother says about me is wrong. Happy Birthday, Lynn.

It was quite a nice letter, but I didn’t know how to respond. Which was why I came to the library. Books always help me think.

“Hi, do you mind if we sit here?” someone asked, tearing me from my thoughts. I looked up. Rose and Dominique Weasley. “Sure,” I replied cheerily.

“I’m Dom, this is Rose, your Jocylynn, right?” Dominique, Dom, said. “Yeah, you can call me Lynn. It’s the name I use,” I replied, smiling.

“Ugh, I have so much work to do,” Dom complained. “That is because you put it all off until last minute,” Rose said opening her book. “I am only here for some light reading.” I laughed. They both looked at me and said, “What?”

“Shhhhhh,” Madame Pince said. “Sorry,” I told her. “Anyway, I laughed because she said light and that book is, like, 400 plus pages,” I said.

“That’s how you know it’s her,” Dom said, smiling.

          “Is it now?” I asked.

“Yeah,” Dom said. We both laughed.

“What’s that?” said Rose, stealing my parchment. She quickly read it, looked up, and said, “Happy birthday.”

“It’s your birthday?” Dom asked. “Yeah,” I replied. “Huh,” Dom said. She took out a parchment and wrote on it for a minute and then said, “I’ll be right back.”

“Where’s she going?” I asked, turning to Rose. “I don’t know,” she replied. “Hmm. What are you reading?” I pointed at her book. “The Guide To Mysterious Incidents,” she replied.

“Hi, guys. I just had to give that to James. By the way, Lynn, are you going to go with him to Hogsmeade?” Dom asked as she returned.

“Yeah, I just don’t know what to wear,” I replied. “Wear that hoodie, definitely,” Rose said. “Yeah,” Dom agreed. “Why?” I asked. “Because it’s the exact color of your eyes,” Rose said. “Oh. I wear it a lot because green is my favorite color,” I said.

“I’ll send you one of my jeans, they’re Just-Right jeans so they’ll fit even though you’re taller than me,” Dom said. I nodded. “And do you have a peach-colored shirt?” Dom asked. I shook my head. “Okay, I’ll buy you one because it will look amazing on you,” Dom said.

“Okay, now that you have planned her whole outfit, can you get to work?” Rose asked Dom. “Fine,” Dom said, rolling her eyes. I smiled.

“Well, I’m sorry but I have to go. Albus will be out of detention by now. Bye,” I said, waving as I walked out the library doors.

                                                                                                                   DOMINIQUE’S POV

As soon as Lynn left, Rose took out a parchment and began writing. She was quiet for a time, so I figured I would do some of the reading I had to do. But as soon as I pulled out my book, she put the parchment in front of my face and said, “Read this.”

  • -Likes to be called Lynn

  • -Favorite color is green

  • -Birthday is October 20 th

  • -Is friends with Albus

  • -Is friends with Scorpius

  • -Has no fashion sense (much like Dom)

  • -Has a sense of humor

“That’s what we know about her,” Rose said. “Take that out, right now!” I said, pointing at the ‘(much like Dom). “Fine,” she said, waving her wand. It disappeared.

                                                                                                                      JAMES’S POV

I was in the middle of doing homework when Dom came up and handed me a parchment. It read…

Lynn’s birthday is today. Get her something and tell Fred.

“FRED!” I yelled. “What?” he asked coming up behind me. “Today is Lynn’s birthday.”

“Okay, so we need to get her something, I’ve got it!” He ran off. I thought about it for a few minutes and then thought of the perfect thing.

                                                                                                                    JOCYLYNN’S POV

When I got back to the common room, Albus was waiting for me. “Hi, this came for you,” he said, handing me two packages.

I opened the biggest one first.

I realize it’s your birthday so, Happy Birthday.

Here are three boxes of Bertie Bott’s Every

Flavor Beans. I hope that you enjoy.

I sighed and opened the next one.

Happy Birthday, Darling.

P.S. Are you going with me to Hogsmeade?

I opened it and it was a beautiful necklace with a heart pendant made of Jade.

                                                                                                                       ALBUS’S POV

“And when Lynn opened it, her face lit up with joy,” I said. “Oh no. What if she actually likes him?” Scorpius asked. We were sitting on his bed in our dormitory. “Well, she could. But if you would just tell her you like her, we wouldn’t be in this situation.” He sighed. “Good night,” he said as he got ready for bed.
