I woke up and felt a sharp pain in my ribs and head and scrunched up my nose. I opened my eyes and looked down at myself, I was wearing a hospital gown and was lying in a bed. I blinked my eyes open a bit more and realized I was in the hospital wing.

I looked around and couldn't see much as there were curtains around my bed, but I was surprised to see both James and Sirius asleep in chairs next to my bed.

I thought back to what had happened... I was on the way to seeing the boys and I was attacked... I remember feeling almost drunk, so out of control. And what they were going to do to me...

I felt tears begin to pour down my cheeks and brushed them away with my hand, my ribs hurting as I raised my arm.

I heard footsteps approaching and Madame Pomfrey stopped as she was walking past me, looking at me and smiling.

"Oh good, you're awake. Are you in pain dear? I'll get you a potion and then we can talk about what happened." Madame Pomfrey said as she adjusted my bed sheets automatically. Then she left as quickly as she appeared.

Her voice seemed to wake Sirius slightly, and he yawned before sluggishly opening his eyes. When he saw I was awake he was about to yell excitedly but I put my finger over my mouth in a hush motion and pointed at James. He scooted his chair closer to me.

"Thank Merlin you're okay. We were so worried, I've gotta tell all the others."

"The others?" I asked quietly.

"Yeah, the only reason they're not here is because Madame Pomfrey wouldn't let them. James wouldn't leave and I wouldn't leave James, so here we are. Even Snivellus came to see you... you should've seen James' face when he tried to come in." He chuckled.

"What happened Sirius?"

"Well...once we'd found you I ran and found Madame Pomfrey and we returned and James was still with you. He was bawling... I'd never seen him so upset."

"James cried?" I said, shocked.

"Yeah, he was so upset. We all were, we didn't know what had happened but we heard your scream."

I shuddered, remembering the scream and the pain that had caused it.

"As soon as Madame Pomfrey had you I went and told the others. I literally had to scream up the stairs to the girls because I can't go in the girls dormitories. I tried, magically enchanted. We all tried to come in but Dumbledore himself told us to go back to bed."

"Dumbledore was here?"

"Yeah, that's when we knew it was serious but we still don't know what happened." He looked at me, waiting for me to explain and I looked away.

Sirius remained quiet and James let out a sigh, his eyes fluttering open. He put on his glasses and looked at us, smiling when he saw I was awake.

"Lily, are you okay?" He said as he moved his chair closer to the two of us.

"I'm fine. Thank you for being here." I said as Madame Pomfrey came with a potion. I didn't ask what it was before downing it and immediately felt a rush of coolness to my ribs and head and I relaxed back into the bed.

"Thank you, Madame Pomfrey."

"Were you in pain?" James asked and I nodded.

"Lily, what happened?" Sirius said again, and I sat up in bed. I would have to tell them at some point.

"They came out of nowhere. They pinned me to a wall and I banged my head, then they managed to get me on the floor. I couldn't tell who they were, I tried to scream but they covered my mouth. They were trying to," I stopped and breathed slowly.

I could feel the tears coming and tried to blink them back. I felt James' hands take mine and I continued, " they were trying to take my clothes off. I was squirming around to try and stop them, and when I wouldn't they used the Cruciatus curse on me."

Sirius swore under his breath and I looked up to see James' face red. Both of them were mad as hell.

"That's when I screamed, and then you two found me." I said. Sirius stood up, pacing around the bed.

"We're going to find out who did this Lily, and beat the crap out of them. They were clearly Slytherins, they were hanging out around their common room." Sirius said whilst James remained silent.

"What time is it?" I asked slowly.

"5'o clock in the afternoon. You were out for a while." James said quietly. Sirius looked at him and started to walk away.

"I'll go get Madame Pomfrey, she should know what happened." He said, leaving James and I alone. James moved closer to me and I took his hands again.

"I'm so sorry Lily, this was all my fault. If you hadn't come to find us, if I hadn't told you to come..." James started.

"No, James don't say that. It's no ones fault apart from the people who did this. I'm fine now, thank God you and Sirius found me when you did or it could have been a lot worst. What were you doing when you found me?"

"We came to tell Slughorn we were done with our detention, he was supervising our detention and he forgot to take our wands so we finished pretty quickly. We were walking near the dungeons when we heard you scream." He stopped, trailing off.

"How bad a state was I in when you found me?"

"Pretty bad. You already had bruises all over and blood was coming from your head. You kept shaking, which is why Dumbledore was called immediately. They knew something was really wrong. How bad was the pain?" He asked quietly.

"Unbearable." I said. I looked up into his eyes, and there was pain in them.

"Thank you for being here."

"I won't leave until you ask me to." He said. Sirius walked back in with Madame Pomfrey who raised her eyebrows at James and I, causing us to seperate.

"Cruciatus curse? My word. Whoever would have done this?" She looked grave. "I must tell Professor Dumbledore. You'll be here for quite a while I'm afraid dear, the curse can leave soreness and pain for quite a while after the incident. Should I send for your parents?"

"I'll send them a letter, I'm fine and there's no need for them to get the train all the way down here." I said and she nodded.

"Madame Pomfrey, may I see my friends?" I asked and she agreed.

"I'll get them." Sirius said, smiling and running out of the Hospital Wing.

"No running, Mr. Black!" Madame Pomfrey yelled as she walked after him. James and I chuckled.

"What have I missed?" I asked.

"Well everyone was freaking out at Breakfast, the attack is all everyone could talk about. In Potions Slughorn actually choked up talking about it! He kept saying how awful it was. Tomorrow they've cancelled our lessons, the whole school is having a special Defense Against the Dark Arts seminar day so we can learn defensive spells. Dumbledore wants to make sure we're prepared, it seems."

"Wow. I can't believe everyone knows, I hope they stop talking about it by the time I get out of here."

"Snape came to see you. I wasn't sure you'd want him here."

"I would like to see him, we made up." I said, and turned my head as I heard a squeal from the top of the bed. I saw Meg, who had burst into tears. Remus held her, a frown on his face.

"Oh Lily!" Heather said, getting upset too. She rushed to my bed and hugged me tenderly, stroking my hair as she did.

"It's my fault, I shouldn't have let you go, I should've come with you!" Meg sobbed as she hugged me.

"It's not your fault, it's no ones fault!" I laughed as she wiped away the tears and snot from her nose. Next Peter came and hugged me and then Remus, both of them looking grave.

"I'm fine guys really, in fact I'd rather not talk about it. How have your days been?" I asked and they all looked around at each other, unsure what to say.

"Well, McGonagall refused to discontinue our detentions, can you believe it! I said, 'Miss it's not safe around the castle at night anymore', and she said 'Well then they can take place in my office before breakfast' can you believe it!" Sirius exclaimed and Madame Pomfrey hushed him from inside her office. We all looked around each other and laughed quietly.

We talked for the rest of the night, Meg had collected my work from all my classes and all of them had gotten together to complete it for me. By 10 o'clock Madame Pomfrey told them to leave as it was about to be past curfew.

"Please Madame Pomfrey, can I stay with Lily, just for tonight?" James begged as Peter was trying to drag him away.

"Absolutely not Mr. Potter! If I catch any of you here after hours then you will be immediately banned from visiting Miss Evans again!" Madame Pomfrey boomed.

"I'll see you in the morning after my detention, I'll bring breakfast!" James called as Madame Pomfrey pushed him out.

He did just that, and he came every lunchtime and after dinner every day for the rest of my time in the hospital wing.

Others came too, nearly everyone in my year from Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff came and wished me well. James would often bring two or three of them along with him but James was the only constant. The only time he didn't come was when he had Quidditch practice, and Meg and Remus and I would have what Remus dubbed a "girly chat".

"Sooo... have you two made it official yet?" Meg said as she unscrewed the flask containing butterbeer that she had smuggled in under her robe.

"Made what official?" I asked as I took a swig.

"You and James, together!" She said excitedly and I gasped.

"James and I are not together! We're just friends."

"Come on Lily, I barely ever see him anymore because you're always together!" Remus said.

"Nothing has happened between us."

"Just tell him you want him and he'll kiss you again." Remus said and I choked on the butterbeer that I was mid-swallowing.

"You told him!" I said accusingly to Meg.

"I'm sorry, I've had one less girlfriend to speak to and it's been driving me crazy, I had to confide in someone!" She said, her hands in the air innocently. I sent her a glare but let it go.

"Well, I don't want to ruin anything between us. Beside, maybe he doesn't like me that way anymore!"

"He hasn't even looked at another girl since the attack. Sirius is loving it, he's getting all the splashback from James' rejects." Remus laughed.

"We'll see." I said, not wanting to speak of it any more.

I was in the hospital weeks for just under two weeks overall, and still Severus had not come to see me. We had made up after our argument, I wasn't sure why he hadn't come. I suspected James had something to do with it.

"Did you tell Severus not to come visit me?" I asked James during breakfast in the Hospital Wing one day. He stopped chewing his food and looked up at me, confused.

"No... I didn't know he hadn't visited, I just assumed he had done whilst I wasn't here."

"No, he hasn't come. Not once." I muttered, shoveling some toast into my mouth.

"Well he's an idiot if he doesn't want to see you." James announced and I shrugged.

Finally Madame Pomfrey gave me the okay to leave the hospital wing and re-join society. I was so excited I basically fell out of the bed and ran up to the common room in my pajamas.

I jumped onto Heather and Meg who were still in their beds that morning. We all laughed and jumped around the dormitory whilst we were getting ready that morning.

I waited for James in the common room before breakfast because I knew he would be heading to see me in the hospital wing. Once he saw me, outside of a hospital bed and back in my Hogwarts robes, he engulfed me in a hug and spun me around. He put me down and held me for a while, both of us smiling.

"Let's go to breakfast." He said, and we walked together to the Great Hall.

As I entered the room went silent, all heads turned to look at me. James tugged my hand and led me to the Gryffindor table. As I walked, some Slytherins booed me.

"Ignore them." James said as we sat down next to the others.

"Yeah they're all arseholes anyway." Peter said boldly.

"Shame." I heard a voice from behind us. Regulas Black was walking towards our table, and Sirius stood up as he approached.

"Shame you recovered so quickly, Mudblood, the boys and I were betting on three weeks minimum." Regulas said.

Before I could stop it, Sirius tried to swing at him but both of them were pulled apart. We looked to see Professor McGonagall standing a few feet away, looking angry.

"That's a detention for both of you. Regulus, you can have yours in my office, immediately. Sirius I will see you later tonight." She said, as she guided a smirking Regulus away from our table.

"Fowl little git." Sirius said as he sat down.

"I didn't realize people were mad about the attack." I said quietly.

"Not really Lily, it's just about that rumour going around." Remus began but was promptly elbowed in the stomach by Meg.

"What rumour?" I said. Remus looked at Meg apologetically and she sighed before facing me.

"Some people are questioning the...legitimacy of the attack." Meg said awkwardly.

"They're saying that you could have gotten away if you had wanted to... that you weren't really attacked and it was just a... threesome gone wrong." Heather finished quietly. I gasped and sat back in my chair, feeling James' hand on my back.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I said looking at James who was sending Remus a glare.

"I didn't want to worry you, it's ridiculous anyway."

"How dare they! I had no control whatsover, I was under the control of some kind of potion!" I exclaimed loudly.

"Potion?" Peter asked quietly.

"Yeah, didn't I tell you guys? When they attacked me they put a rag over my mouth with a potion in it. It made me all dizzy and disorientated, I think it was a Confusing Concoction of some kind and a powerful one at that!" I said angrily, and James stood up and left the table quickly.

"What's wrong with him?" Sirius asked me, and I shrugged. Was it something I said?
