Ginny, Hermione and Grantham ran into the room and started shouting stunning spells at the Society members. It took the men members a few moments to realize what was happening and draw their wands. As they started cursing left and right, more people burst into the room. Bill, Fleur, Neville, Luna, George. The Order of the Phoenix. Some crumbled, unprepared for the attack. Others expertly avoided the curses and fired back.

The few Society members who managed to block the spells were in full combat mode. Harry ran towards Smith's stunned body, and removed his wand, releasing Ron and the others from their magical bonds. It was hell breaking loose.

Rose and Hermione were dueling, side by side, throwing stunning spells towards those advancing at them. Harry felt Ron tense up in his grip as a Killing Curse missed Rose by a few inches and the red head Auror let out a frightening yell as he ran forward, knocking the man who had fired the curse out cold with his elbow. Ron's face was pale white, glistening in sweat and bleeding from the fall he took while being held by Smith.

Ginny and Luna were cutting the bounds on the Aurors, looking over their shoulders and stunning men that were coming at them. All around the room people were fighting. Harry joined Bill and Fleur who were fighting back to back, Fleur holding on to her Stunned son-in-law with surprising force. Teddy had been caught in the cross fire between the Order and the Society and he had been Stunned. Fleur grabbed his waist and was holding him close, while Bill guarded her back. He wanted to pick the boy up himself, but his wife's shout made him think twice about it. Teddy was their child as much as Victoire, their only purpose now was to get him home safely.

Neville was making magical binds appear from the tip of his wand and restraining the stunned wizards. Once or twice George had joined him, but his idea of help was kicking the men in certain well aimed areas and muttering words that would make his mother throw a fit.

The members were outnumbered and fell easily. It was clearly visible that they had no proper duelling training and were overwhelmed by the fact that backup had come.

Grantham had alerted the Ministry and by the time the Aurors and Order members had finished restraining the people in the house, the place was swimming with workers, cataloging and taking into evidence anything they could find.

In the mass of people, Harry saw Rose staring at the glass case containing the Elder Wand. He went by her side and followed her gaze, looking at the wand that had cause so much trouble. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the long gash on her forehead and the bruises that would most likely be forming on her collarbone and shoulders.

“How did you figure it out?” he asked.

“I am Hermione Weasley’s daughter. We are highly logical.” she replied simply, making Harry smile. “So this is the Elder Wand, huh?”

“That’s the one. What do you think?”

“They could’ve gone with a more elegant pattern for the exterior design. What’s going to happen to it?”

“We’re taking it home. Then we’ll figure things out as we go along.”

A feast was waiting for the Aurors as they made their way back into the Burrow by dawn. Molly Weasley had been worried. By the looks of the place, she had not slept. Arthur was sitting with her in the kitchen, resting his arm on his walking stick and drinking a cup of tea. She greeted Harry and his team with a delighted shriek, sending the tired Aurors and her family members to wash up and eat. As usual, she fussed over Teddy, who had been revived by the Medi-Wizdards called on the scene. The man was sitting in the largest armchair, his feet propped up and a wet towel on his forehead.

Harry hugged his mother-in-law tightly and kissed her cheek. The relief he was feeling was too much to be put into words. They were all safe. Penelope had died but now there would be time to mourn her. His arm found Ginny's middle and he planted a kiss on her forehead.

“I came back to you,” he whispered in her ear.

“Lucky I thought to come and get you,” she joked and hugged him tightly.

“Lucky indeed. I love you!” Those in the room smiled and looked away as the Head Auror and his wife shared a tender kiss.

Breakfast was a jolly affair, with all of them eating, laughing and telling stories, trying not to dwell on the night’s events. When they were done, they took coffee in the sitting room. Rose however, caught Scorpius’ eye and motioned for him to join her outside.

She sat on the porch with her coffee as he sat by her.

“Rose, you’re such a reckless girl. What were you thinking?” he finally asked, looking at her with tired eyes.

“Once I knew it was a trap, I couldn’t just sit by. Brent sent a Patronus to the Ministry, Ginny took the cloak and we were off. He had the coordinates, after all. I got under the cloak because I’m the smallest. I waited for them to get in one room and sneaked in. They didn’t notice me. You know the rest. What happened to you?”

“I’m not really sure. We circled the grounds a couple of times and found no other building so we decided to head back. They came out of nowhere, knocked us out. We all came around in the study. Just in time to see you save the day.”

“You would’ve done the same for me.” Rose said softly and placed her head on his shoulder, feeling his arm circle her.

“Yes, that’s true,” he replied. “So, I suppose we’re going to have to talk now, right?”

Rose smiled and shoved him playfully.

“No, Scorpius. We don’t have to talk. Maybe we’ll just take it one day at a time.”

“What caused this sudden change of mind?” he asked jokingly.

“I got my big adventure. The one that changes everything. I learned that my Mum and Dad are human as well and can make mistakes. I learned that sometimes what you wanted was right in front of you and I learned to take a leap of faith.” she said and closed the distance between them.

His kisses were softer, more tender and she felt a new kind of intimacy, something that had nothing to do with infatuation or lust. But rather with affection. The kiss was interrupted by somebody clearing their throat.

“Rosie, Scorpius. Harry wants to see us all inside.” Ron said. Rose had to stop herself from giggling at the sight of her father’s face. She would never hear the end of it.

They found the rest of the house in the sitting room, in front of a blazing fire. Harry was holding the Elder Wand, twirling it around on his fingers. He looked up as the two entered the room.

“Rose. I wanted to ask you something.” he started and Rose could hear how tired he was from his voice.

“Anything, Harry.”

“Well, you realize of course, that even if we caught Smith tonight, there are more people out there, following the same foolish dream. We need to find them and put a stop to this Peverell Society once and for all.” Rose nodded and he continued. “So, I was wondering if you’d like to help. With the research and with tracking them down. I know that you have a life in Romania and you love what you do, but you could do it from England, and work on the Peverell case as well.”

Rose looked at her parents with wide eyes. Ron was wearing a huge grin and Hermione was smiling, looking from her husband to her daughter. She nodded, an almost imperceptible nod that was for Rose alone. She then looked at Scorpius. He too was looking at her, waiting for the answer with a tense look on his face.

“I’d love to come back! Thank you, uncle Harry!” she exclaimed and threw her arms around her uncle’s neck, hugging him tightly.

“You’re welcome, Rosie. We’re lucky to have you. Now, there’s one more thing we need to attend to before we can all go to bed.” he said and the room went silent once again. “This is the cause of all of this and it needs to be taken care of, once and for all.”

He stood, holding the Elder Wand and approached the fireplace. With one swift move, he broke it in two pieces and threw it in the flames. It cracked and smoked white, then the flames engulfed it and the Deathstick was no more.

He turned to face the shocked room, looking from Ron and Hermione, the two people he had shared the best and worst of his life with, to their daughter, to his wife and his family, to his friends.

“I should’ve done that thirty years ago.”

The End.
