A/N – So 2 years later this story continues. I know, I know, worst writer ever. Please forgive me. For those interested, Ethan will be 2 next month and he’s absolutely amazing. I love him so much. And yes, he’s a future Harry Potter fan! Speaking of which, J.K. Rowling owns everything to do with Harry Potter. And without further ado, the next chapter. Please be kind, it’s been almost 2 years!

Winning Hermione
Chapter 18

If there was one wizard you didn’t want to piss off other than the dark Voldemort himself, it was Draco Malfoy. Powerful, smart, and conniving, Draco did not tolerate things that did not please him. Finding Hermione in Blaise Zabini’s arms this morning was definitely something that did not please him. After everyone quickly left Hermione’s bedroom, Draco was left alone with a stunned Hermione. It took every inch of normal saneness to not rip her to pieces.

“Draco, it’s not as bad as it looks,” was the only thing Hermione could think of to say.

“Well that’s great. So much better than ‘It’s not what it looks like’”, snarled Draco.

“I’m sorry,” Hermione whispered.

“Why? Why would you want someone like Zabini? You must know I can give you a thousand times what he has.”

“Don’t you understand, Draco? It’s not what someone has, it’s who they are!” Hermione yelled.

The red tint in Draco’s face should have warned Hermione she was treading in dangerous waters, “You have no idea who Blaise Zabini is. If you only knew half the…”

“Then what Draco? I might compare him to you?”

“You should be careful,” Draco responded back darkly.

“I’m not afraid of you,” Hermione said bravely raising her chin.

In that brief moment Draco crossed the room and placed himself at a very uncomfortable distance from Hermione. She tried to back away, but couldn’t get very far since she was still on the bed.

“You can’t scare someone into loving you,” she said softly.

“I don’t need them to love me,” Draco said quickly.

“That’s not who I thought you were.”

“Well there are lots of things you still have to learn about me, Hermione. And one of those is that I always have what I want.”

“You sound just like the spoiled brat you were at Hogwarts.”

Draco slammed his fists down on the bed on either side of Hermione, “You want to know the difference between now and Hogwarts? In Hogwarts there were rules and standards. And now, I’m in charge. I have the power. So you be careful, Hermione. You don’t want to cross me again.”

Suddenly there was a knock on the open door. Hermione sighed with relief as Draco quickly resumed standing. Angelina entered looking half stunned and half enraged. Still slightly afraid of Draco, she bravely suggested he let her talk to Hermione for a bit.

“Maybe you can talk some sense into her,” he grumbled as he left.

“Thanks,” Hermione said gratefully once Draco had left.

“Don’t thank me just yet,” Angelina said still peeved.

“What’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong? Really Hermione? You just upset most of the people who really actually care for you. And you want to know what’s wrong?”

“I don’t understand what the big deal is,” Hermione said exasperated.

“The big deal is that they all care for you. They’re tired of being toyed with. You need to make a decision,” Angelina said calmly.

Hermione was close to tears, “I know. I know, it’s so horrible.”

“Shhh,” Angelina said as she sat on the bed next to Hermione and put her arm around her, “it’s going to be ok. We just need to sort out your feelings.”

“Angelina, that’s not it. I know what my feelings are. I just can’t have them. That option is out.”

Angelina nodded, “George.”

Without answering Hermione buried her face into Angelina’s shoulder sobbing softly. Both girls were at a loss of what to do from here.

On the other hand, the boys knew exactly what to do. They were sitting around a table in heated discussion.

“This will end now. We will make Hermione choose and everyone can go on with their lives,” Fred said with a stern voice.

“What if she’s not ready?” George questioned.

“She’s ready,” Blaise said.

“Don’t sound so confident, Blaise,” Draco said, “or need I remind you…”

“No Draco,” Blaise turned to face him, “you needn’t remind me of anything. In fact, let me remind you of something. I’ve been your number one follower since Hogwarts. I’ve supported you every step of the way and will gladly serve you. But don’t you dare take Hermione away from me.”

Draco’s eyes lit up with passion, “I won’t have to. Why would she want you over me? The most powerful wizard here?”

Blaise was standing now, “I think I might have to contest that.”

“By all means,” Draco responded standing and bringing out his wand.

As the first curses flew at each other Hermione and Angelina entered. Hermione shrieked with fear as Draco and Blaise both were struck by each other’s curses. She yelled again as they both rose and lifted their wands to go again.

“Stop! Please stop!” Hermione shouted. Angelina was holding her arm as she was trying to run toward them.

“Hermione, be careful. Don’t get in the way!” Angelina pleaded.

But she wasn’t strong enough for the wild feelings inside Hermione. She pulled away from Angelina and headed straight for the dueling wizards.

A/N – So shortest chapter ever? Yes, but hopefully with the promise of another chapter soon!
