Over the next two weeks, Ron and Hermione had become used to a daily routine. Hermione read by the pond in the afternoons, with Ron watching her of course. He always blushed when she caught him staring at her. They also spent a lot of time with Harry and Ginny playing two-on-two quidditch. Sometimes George and Charlie would join in. Their nights were generally spent in the den by the fire. Ron would be sitting in his favorite arm chair and Hermione would come sit in his lap.

“Girls?! Could you please come help with supper? They’ll be here in an hour!” Mrs.Weasley cried one afternoon. Fred, Remus, and Tonks had been released from he hospital and she had planned a “welcome home” dinner. The two Lupins had been released a few days prior, but the Weasley matriarch wanted to have the dinner on the same day.

“Coming Mum!” Ginny yelled down the stairs before turning to Hermione. “So, how are things going with Ronald? Do I have to hex him yet? I did learn a new one that I would like to test on someone! Do you enjoy snogging? Ew, I don’t want to know that, so don’t answer that question,”

“Ginny! Don’t worry, everything is fine! Great actually,” Hermione said with a grin.

“What do you mean great? Oh Merlin! Hermione Granger! You haven‘t…” Ginny said as her eyes grew wide.

“No, Ginny, I have not, I assure you, done anything…that could result in a child. Damn, you’re just as perverted as Tonks!” the older witch exclaimed.

The two girls walked into the kitchen to find that the boys had already levitated the table outside. Mrs.Weasley then asked them to set the table.

As they set the table, they heard a small pop. “Remus! Tonks! Oh, and Teddy too!” Mrs.Weasley exclaimed, rushing out the door to embrace them in her usual bone-crushing hug. “Hi Tonks!” both girls screamed as they rushed over to the metamorphmagus.

“Wotcher girls,”she replied with a smile. “How’s everything going, Hermione?” she asked quietly as Ginny went to greet her old professor.

“Good. Can you believe we haven’t had a row since we were tracking down those horcuxes,” Hermione answered.

“That’s a record,” Tonks said in awe.

“Fred! Oh my! Welcome home dear!” they heard. The St. Mungo’s transport department had just apparated Fred home. “Well then,” Mrs.Weasley panted, “I guess it’s time to eat.”

Dinner was the usual. Remus, Harry, Charlie, and Ron were deep in discussion about the latest Quidditch news. Ginny, Tonks, and Hermione were howling in laughter at something more than likely said by Tonks. The Weasley elders, Bill, and Fleur were talking about the ministry. Fred and George were huddled closely together and talking in low voices, obviously planning something. “Boys, if you are planning anything you will both be in trouble,” Mrs. Weasley warned her twins. “And don’t think you’ll get away with it, Fred.”

“Mum, I won’t do anything bad. I’m a holey saint, remember,” George said with a grin, motioning to his missing ear.

“Stop joking about that ear, George Weasley,” Mrs.Weasley scolded,

When everyone had finished their dinner Ginny and Harry had taken Teddy off to play with him, considering he’s Harry’s godson. The adults were gathered in the living room talking and the mischievous twins were in their room, up to no good as usual. This left Ron and Hermione.
“Want to go for a walk?” Ron asked his girlfriend.

“Sure,” she said, reaching for his hand.

They walked for sometime before Hermione turned to Ron and said “I have something to tell you Ron.”

“Go ahead love, you can tell me anything.”’

“I’m going back to Hogwarts for my N.E.W.T.S . I would like you to back to, but that’s your choice to make,” she said.

Ron looked at her for a minute before saying, “Well, Hermione, I think you should go back to school if you want to. I mean, your education is important to you. But, I don’t think I’m going back. I’m probably going to help George with the shop until Fred is able to, and then I might join the Auror Department.” He looked away from her. He half expected her to cry, half expected her to scream at him for not wanting to finish his education.

She did neither. “That’s your choice. If that’s your dream, go with it. Follow your heart,” she said before place a soft kiss on his cheek.

“You know, I think it’s time we went on a proper date,” Ron said as they continued walking.

She was shocked at his sudden romantic side. “Well we have been a couple for two weeks now,” she said sweetly.

“Where would you like to go?” he asked her.

“Oh I know!“ he said before she could answer,“ How about that fancy muggle restaurant in London? You know-the one with the big name?” he gave her a puzzled, yet serious look.

‘Which one, Ron? There are quite a few,” she told him kindly, knowing that he wasn’t familiar with muggle anything.

“Something with chicken is all I know…it has the old man on the sign.” he answered her, seeming somewhat proud for remembering.

“Kentucky Fried Chicken?” Hermione grinned. Ron nodded. “Oh hun,” she chuckled, “that’s not a fancy restaurant. It is American fast food, very bad for the body.”

“Oh.” he said solemnly.

“Its OK, Ron. You don’t know muggle London,” she hugged him. “How about Crown Sterling?” she asked.

“That’s fine with me,” he said.

They arrived back to the Burrow as the sun was setting. Remus and Tonks were still there, Teddy sleeping in Tonks’ arms.

“I heard you are joining the auror department, Harry.” Tonks was saying as they entered the room.

“Yeah. Kingsley said that after what we had done, we wouldn’t have to complete out N.E.W.Ts and that we could go ahead and enter. We being Ron, Hermione and I.” Harry said, noticing that his two friends had just entered.

“Oh, so are you two joining too?” Tonks asked them.

“I will eventually, but as of now I’ll be helping George until Fred is able to work at the shop. Hermione is going back to Hogwarts for her seventh year. After that, I assume she’ll continue her work with S.P.E.W.” he answered, looking at Hermione.

“I don’t know yet Ron, I’ve been thinking about going into the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.” she said matter-of-factly.

“That sounds like a wonderful field of work for you, Hermione,” Remus added in.

The couple made their way into the kitchen for a bowl of pudding. Hermione summoned the chocolate pudding with the Accio incantation while Ron drabbed bowls and spoons. When they both had their snack, they sat across for each other. As usual, Ron watch his girlfriend. He loved to watch her. He didn’t know why, but he did.

Hermione was thinking to herself as she more played with her pudding than ate it. She was amazed that the past two weeks had gone about without a single row. She thought about how it had been about three weeks since the battle. About how she spent so long searching for horcruxes. However, she was happy the she and Ron had ended up together. But she still didn’t know exactly how that came to be. ‘Well then. Me and Ron. No, Ron and I. Use your proper grammar, Hermione. I started liking him in fifth year. I mean, I guess Istarted to like him in fifth year. Then in sixth year, he went out with that bimbo Lavender. When we were on that mission with Harry and he left and…”
“Hermione…what’s wrong? Are you ok?” Ron’s voice came from across the table. His hand was on hers, and she was crying.

“I was thinking about this past year, everything that happened,” she said, wiping her eyes.

“So when do you want to go to dinner?” he tried to change the subject.

“Friday?” she answered and asked at the same time.

“That’s good for me.” he said before kissing her hand.

They went back into the living room just as Remus, Tonks, and Teddy were leaving. They said their see-you-laters Ron told everyone that he was ready for bed. He and Hermione walked upstairs together, hand in hand. Ron kissed his love goodnight and made his way to his bedroom. He laid on his bed with a huge grin on his face.
