Lily was standing in front of the mirror in the bedroom that she shared with her husband. She was wearing an elegant evening gown. It was a strapless dress that dipped into her cleavage slightly. Right below the breast line there were some rhinestones, after which the gown flowed down to the ground. The top was solid black in color, below the breast line was mostly black, with a hint of blue on the under layers. The layers were edged on the front of the dress to create a slight v-opening around her feet, which showed her black heels.

Her hair was curled and half up, so that there were just a few tresses that were down.

“James are you almost ready, you take longer to get ready then I do.” Lily called out.

“Well I have to look good enough to be seen with my gorgeous wife.” James said as he walked out of the bathroom in his black tuxedo. The only part that was white, was his dress shirt.

“I think that you look amazing in that tuxedo.” Lily said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He placed his on her waist.

“You outshine me.” James said as he captured her lips.

“So why would your parents throw a New Years Ball in which the guest all dress as muggles?” Lily asked.

“Because of my mum, her step-mum is a muggle, she knew nothing about the magical world until she married my papa. Anyway they threw a muggle ball because that way her family could attend, and it was a tradition that my parents continued. Besides my mum likes to dress up in ball gowns rather than robes that she grew up in.” James said. “Sometimes I wonder if she wasn’t born to the wrong group. She seldom uses magic and enjoys muggle activities.”

“There is nothing wrong with that Mr. Potter.” Lily said as she pointed her finger into his chest.

“I never said there is, in fact the love of my life just happens to be muggle and there is nothing that I would change about her.” James said.

“Alright sexy man, we need to get downstairs because the guests are going to be here in just a few minutes.” Lily said. “So come on.”

“Actually before we go downstairs I have a present for you. You need to close your eyes for a minute.”

“Like I trust you to not something when my eyes are closed.” Lily said.

“So little faith in your own husband.” James said with mock hurt.

“More like I know my husband, remember I know that you are one of the biggest pranksters our school has seen in years.” Lily said.

“For once would you trust me?” James asked.

Lily shut her eyes and heard movement going on around her, which made her nervous. “James what are you up to?”

“Who knows what that boy is up to at any given time?” A female voice stated.

Lily opened her eyes wide to find a woman that looked the same age as Lily and James. She was wearing a blood red dress, went all the way to the floor where it pooled slightly. It was long sleeve that had a slight flair at the hands, and while the front was boat necked across the front the back was open almost to the butt. She had her chestnut, wavy hair pulled up, with a few strands framing her face.

“Hello, can I help you?” Lily asked.

“No I was just looking for James before all the festivities start. We usually meet in his room before the parties around here start.” The woman said. “What are you doing up here?”

“This is my bedroom.” Lily said.

“Funny this looks like James’s room.” The woman said as she walked into the bedroom, looking around to double check. “In fact I know that this is the room that he has had since he was a little boy. I remember many late nights spent in this room…”

“He no longer has the room to himself, as of the beginning of the summer he has a permanent roommate.” Lily said as she moved into the bathroom for body spray. “So how long exactly have you known my husband?”

“I don’t even know who you are, so how do you expect me to know your husband?”

“Funny, you know how to get to his room, but you don’t know him?” Lily asked.

James walked to the door, which Lily saw. She walked over to her husband, placed her index fingers on the inside the waistline of his tuxedo pants and pulled him close to her. She wrapped her hands around his neck and pulled herself up to capture his lips. He wrapped his arms around her waist to pull her deeper into the kiss.

He rested his head on the top of hers. “And I haven’t even given you your gift yet.”

“Don’t be so thrilled, I believe that was more for me than you.” The woman said.

“Actually that was for my husband.” Lily said. “I didn’t want you confused on who my husband is. She claimed to not know who my husband was, so I decided to help her figure it out. Somehow she knew how to get to our room, but couldn’t figure out who I was married to.”

“So this little demonstration was to stake your claim.” James said with a smile as he looked down at his wife.

“You could say that. I figured I have gotten into heated arguments over you, so this time I was going to have you as part of the argument from the start. I thought maybe the person might believe me that I was your wife if you were around during the introduction.” Lily said. “If nothing else you are around when I tell someone that you are off the market.”

“Oh you haven’t had to do that too often.” James said.

“No, just your entire fan club at Hogwarts and believe me there are more girls that you thought in that group.” Lily said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

“I got to say James I like her a lot.” The girl said.

“Lily, I would like to introduce you to Sotoria James. Tory, this is my wife Lily Potter.” James said. “Tory and I were essentially raised together, she grew up across the street from us. She was a year ahead of me in school which is why you haven’t met her before now. She has been at school for healer training and her school runs on a different schedule than Hogwarts which is why you are just meeting her for the first time.”

“Do you prefer Sotoria or Tory?” Lily asked as she held out a hand.

“Tory please, so how did the great Potter end up with a wife?” She asked.

“He was completely drunk out of his mind.” Lily provided for her.

“Which explains why I didn’t get an invitation to a wedding,” she took a seat on their bed. “I had thought if you got married I would at least an invitation.”

“Don’t worry when we get remarried you will be invited.” James said. “We are planning to get married in front of our friends and family later on this year.”

“Hey I think you forgot about me.” A voice came from the other side of the door.

James moved out of the way to reveal Mackenzie standing in the hallway. She was dressed in a strapless emerald green dress that was floor length. Her hair was flowing down her back in curls.

Lily rushed over to her best friend and gave her a huge hug.

“It is great to see you Kenzie, I have missed you so much.” Lily said.

“I have missed you too.” Mackenzie said.

“Surprise.” James said from where he was leaning against the door jam. “This was the surprise I had for you.”

“Mackenzie it is good to see you again.” Tory said from inside the bedroom.

“It has been a while Tory.” Mackenzie said from her location, with her arms still around her best friend.

Lily released her friend and turned to her husband, she had a huge smile on her face. She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Thank you so much for making this happen, you are the most amazing husband.”

“It was no problem. I only have one request for tonight, since I figure you are going to be spending most of your night with Mac, which I expect. I want at least two dances from you tonight, the first one is at the start of the dancing, the other one I will find you for.”

“I think that I can handle to be in your arms for two dances.” Lily said. “Thank you so much, I really to appreciate you doing this for me, this is the sweetest thing that you have done for me.”

“I am glad to do it.” James said. “Mac, take care of my wife this evening she means the world to me. It has been a while since we have spent an evening apart.

“The guest are starting to arrive, mum would like all of us at least downstairs to start mingling. May I escort you ladies to the ball?” James asked. He put his elbow out for his wife, which she took.

Together the group went down to the living room where people were gathering for pre-dinner conversation.

There were waiters throughout the room some were carrying trays with hors d'oeuvres and others with trays of wines. James took four flutes off of the tray as it came near the group and passed them out.

“You, James Potter, are just trying to get lucky.” Lily said as she took her flute from him.

“I already am lucky, I got you as my wife.” James said.

“Dude, that was corny.” Sirius said as he came up behind James. He was in a black tuxedo, with a white dress shirt and a crimson cummerbund. Slightly behind him was Remus, in a black suit, with a black bow tie.

“Wow Remus you look great.” Lily said as she walked over to the man and gave him a hug.

“Lily you are breath-taking. Mac, Tory it is good to see you both, and looking amazing.” Remus said.

“What about me?” Sirius complained.

“Sirius you are looking okay tonight.” Lily said as she put her arm around his shoulders.

“What? Lily Potter you are just an evil woman.” Sirius said with mock hurt.

“Yes, but you love me anyways.” Lily said with a smile.

Sirius gave her a kiss on her cheek.

“You just remember buddy, who she sleeps with at the end of the night.” James said as he pulled his wife to his side.

“Remember I am not a ragdoll, so stop pulling me around.” Lily said. She walked over to Mackenzie and looped her arm through hers. “Kenzie and I are going to be away from the testosterone, see you boys again when it is time for dinner.”

James stood watching as his wife walked away with her best friend. There was a sparkle in her eye that hadn’t been there in a long time. She looked back at her husband and gave him a slight smile.

When she was across the room and out of his line of sight, James walked over to Sirius and patted him on the back. “Thank you for getting Mac here, you can already see the change in Lily. She needed her best friend. I have another favor to ask of you. Do you think that you could create another set of mirrors for the girls?”

“Sure not a problem, they are a snap.” Sirius said with a smile.

“Boys I think that we have the old Lily back, at least right now, we will see how it holds when we go back to school.” James said.

“Wait, why would she need to be back to her old self.”

The boys went into the events that had been going on school.

A/N:  Sorry it took so long to get this chapter out, I was going to post it last weekend, however I was almost finished with the chapter and realized it was not going in the direction and so had to start the chapter over.  I hope that you enjoy it, I will do my best to get the next chapter out.  However we are at the point in the story where I don't have the chapters already completed.
