Weeks had passed since Dom and I had been sucked into the world of Harry Potter. Now it was the early days of October and winter was finally making its presence known. The days had grown colder and luckily we had one weekend to finally go shopping for our own clothes. Dom and I had been scared we'd find over the top 70's style's, but luckily there was things that appealed to us and with the use of our handy Magical Beauty book and a touch of our own 21st century twists. We made it our own, and still fitted in.

We had also given up hope that we were brought to this decade for an actual reason. Unfortunately it dawned on us that we were only here – just because. It may have sounded a tad selfish, but we both understood the situation. Regardless of the reason we were sent back in time, we were truly grateful. As we kept reminding ourselves it was real life, not a fanfiction.

Dom and I also had our very first fight. Yup, our very first. When I had confronted her about her getting into bad things with Regulus and the crew in Slytherin. I just wanted to warn her again on what to expect if she got in too deep, but she blew me off and said she didn't want to hear it and she could handle it.

[FLASHBACK]

“Dom, what were you guys up too?”

Dom sighed, she was the type of person who didn't like confrontations. Especially from me. “Sophie, it's nothing to worry about, I've got it under control, and it was only a meeting about us keeping our spot in this school.”

“Is that really it, Dom? Because I don't think so.” I said sternly, folding my arms crossly.

“Sophie, stop acting like my mother!” Dom snapped. “I know what I'm doing!”

“Yeah, I'm sure you do, but we know what can happen, but they are trying to manipulate you, trick you so they can get you to do things, which I know you'll regret! I know not all Slytherin's are bad, but most are! They are working for Voldemort, Yomee!”

“Cut it out, Sophie! I would never work for the tool!”

“You probably already are, and don't even know it!” I cried. “I'm worried, Dom!”

Dom huffed. “Well don't be, who is the one who always came to your rescue when we were in school and you got picked on, huh? ME, so I think I can handle it!”

“This is different Dom, magic is involved now – Dom please, you've read the books-”

“WE are in the books! We can change things, Yomee!”

I shook my head, tears finally escaping my eyes. “No, we can't, I've already asked Dumbledore, even though we are here and we changed things just a little, in the future things are still going to go exactly how they are meant too.”

“You went to see Dumbledore without me!” Dom exclaimed, her cheeks pink with rage. “What happened about sticking together and telling each other everything!”

“YEAH!” I cried. “EXACTLY! WHAT HAPPENED TO US STICKING TOGETHER AND TELLING EACH OTHER EVERYTHING!”

Dom fell silent, her chest heaving.

“AND DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME THAT THERE ARE THINGS I SHOULDN'T KNOW!” I screamed, my tears cooling the heat of my cheeks. “I should know, everything!”

Doms shook her head, her eyes finally glistening over with tears. “Fuck, this is so fucked up!”

And with that she turned on her heel and left, and I burst into tears.

[FLASHBACK END]

I was so scared, I needed Dom, and I was scared that if the Slytherin house was making her not want to be friends with me anymore – I just didn't know what to do. We ended up not really talking for three days. It was Regulus again, who had to get us to make up.

When we did, I decided it was best to finally talk about our family and make sure we did whenever we felt it was necessary.

In my spare time, I would think about my family. I missed them with my entire being, but my hope of ever seeing them again, was wearing thin. I hoped and prayed that they knew how much I loved them and for them to forgive me. They were in my heart, therefore I knew I'd be in theirs. Dom and I talked about them every so often. And it helped to reflect on memories, just so we'd remember them, and to keep our feet firmly on the ground. Even though Hogwarts was gradually becoming my home. And I was truly afraid that the portal was going to come back any day now, so I tried to live my days as if it were to be my last, just to be safe.

Things had certainly been exciting, but now we were completely settled in. However there were still people who didn't accept us, but I ignored them, we had lost our nicknames and people didn't really take notice of our differences anymore. School work had gotten much easier now that we understood everything, to an extent. Although there was so much more we had to learn about magic, we were getting there and were passing on an average level and our essays made more sense. I felt I could breathe much easier now, especially because Dom and I had so much undying support and our ever growing friendships kept us grounded. Regulus – like Dom, grew to be one of the best things that had happened to me. He gave us an outlook on life I'd never thought to interpret. I was growing to love him as a brother more than a friend. I was so happy that we were bringing out the good in Regulus; just to see him smile made me so happy.

And there was Matthew, who had been tutoring us and showing us everything there was to know about magic. And I was beginning to fall for him like there was no tomorrow. Words couldn't describe the feelings growing within me, Matthew was like my rock, I could lean on him and I knew he wouldn't crumble beneath me, his kind hearted smile and maturity always had me fluttering. Matthew was capturing a place in my heart that none of my previous crushes managed to capture. I had a lot of respect for Matthew, and I couldn't help but to get all giddy whenever I saw him or control my smiles or my butterflies when he touched me.

I wanted to ask him out, but I was unsure if he liked me and I was hesitant if our relationship was going to go futher, the portal would come back and take it all away.

And my dorm mates, Heather, Kim and Mary, even Lily, (sort of, she did talk to me now and again, which was a start of ridding her trust issue with me) became attached to me as much as I became attached to them. Their personalities complimented mine and I grew protective of them, they were my girls.

Even though you couldn't really call it friendship, I was also getting along with the Marauders on classmate and housemate terms. Sirius and I would talk here and there, but really nothing more than what we had for essays or homework, not intimate subjects. Also James and Kim were still very much a loved up couple, and Lily was making her move to ask Remus on a date for the Hogsmeade trip that was set to schedule in the next couple of days.

Dom and I also found a mother figure in Professor McGonagall, and a father figure in Professor Dumbledore, who called us to his office to talk to us. So we had plenty of advice and knew whenever there was trouble we had people to back us up.

I was in a place at the moment where I would freely reject the portal if it came back. My life was changing; I was sort of becoming a different person.

Potions was my favourite class now, and I didn't really have to rely on the notes that Dom and stolen from Snape anymore. I had become a member of Slug Club and speaking of Snape, I tried to become his friend, but it just wasn't going anywhere.

It seemed that even though I had mastered the other Potions from the previous class, Snape still thought I was useless. I guess he wasn't ever going to like me no matter how much I tried, so I gave up, his attitude finally was getting to me.

“Do not add the Pomegranate juice before the Salamander blood,” he said in his usual slow drawl.

I rolled my eyes. “Do you have to talk any slower?”

“Don't give me cheek, Adams; I am not in the mood.”

“Well neither am I,” I said, adding the Salamander as I stirred. “And besides I wouldn't be in Slug Club if I didn't know what I was doing.”

Snape smirked. “I was just making sure you understood.”

“I do, and you are my partner, not the teacher, let Slughorn do that job.” I muttered.

Snape growled and began roughly cutting the roots probably imagining that they were my face. I just rolled my eyes again and ignored him, happy that next week we were switching partners. Slughorn had reminded us that there would be a partner change every two weeks to keep everything fresh.

Tomorrow was the weekend and I was so thankful, as it had been a week full of stressful classes and many essays in which luckily with help, I managed to complete and have fun. Without the support Dom and I were receiving, I didn't know if we would have actually made it.

After classes were complete, Regulus took Dom and I for a stroll on the grounds, and he said he had a surprise for us.

“Imagine a white Christmas!” Dom was saying, as we walked around the castle our shoes crunching on a light white blanket of icy due that covered the ground. “Just how Christmas is meant to be!”

“And we can make snowmen and snow angels!” I said happily.

“That is so childish,” Regulus muttered.

“No it's not!” Dom disagreed. “Reg, every Christmas in Aussie is swimming in the pool to cool off, or staying inside an air conditioned house to avoid the heat. This Christmas I want to be in front of the fire sipping on hot Butterbeer, not sipping on lemonade sweating like a pig.”

I could picture us snuggling by the fire now. “Sounds perfect, another two months!”

Regulus smirked. “Okay, I see your point. Anyway, here you two go.”

He pulled out two pieces of parchment out of his pocket and handed them to us. Exchanging looks, Dom and I stood confused.

“What is it?” Dom asked as she unfolded hers, I followed.

“Just look.”

Opening it up, I saw it was the permission slips for Hogsmeade, and they had been signed. I gasped with surprise and happiness. “Reg!”

“You don't have to go through extremes to get to Hogsmeade now,” Regulus said with a small smile.

“Regulus!” Dom cried happily. “Thank you!”

“Did your parents sign them for us?” I asked.

Regulus nodded. “They'd do anything I request.”

Guess that's the perks of being the favourite son. But I kept my thoughts silent, and just smiled, grateful that Regulus had thought about us. “Thanks, Reg.”

“No worries.”

We hugged him happily.

“Quidditch is also to be announced this week, I can't wait for that!” Regulus said, as we pulled away. “You two can finally see practice and maybe have a go on the brooms.”

“Ooh, I'll definitely try out if I'm good!” Dom exclaimed with joy.

“Me too! I'm so excited!”

Our stroll was cut short when thunder cracked and it began sprinkling. Then laughing happily, we rushed towards the castle to escape the rain.

Back inside, we went into the Great Hall to warm up and to enjoy a nice game of Exploding Snap, Matthew and Christy joined too.

And as I sat watching everyone I cared about laughing and gossiping. I realised there was nowhere else I'd rather be.

I couldn't sleep very well that night, because it was so cold so Heather cast the warming spell and we began talking. Lily, Mary and Kimberly were fast asleep, so we made sure to be quiet. Heather rolled over to face me; she bit her lip looking nervous. I stared at her, as she fought with herself and waited patiently for her to say something.

“Can I ask you something, Sophie?” She finally spoke, her voice a whisper.

“Sure, what's up?” I asked, with a subtle urge for her to spit it out.

“You and Dom … back where you came from, were you er, popular?”

I let out a chuckle, “Well, we had our group of friends, but I wouldn't consider us 'popular', just 'well known', sort of in the middle...people didn't fall at our feet like how people do with the Marauders, I don't know how to describe it.”

Heather nodded to herself, “Oh, ok, well the Marauder's want to be friends with you, that's saying something right?”

I huffed, “Only because Dom was sorted into Slytherin, other than that they didn't have any real interest in me. But they are nice really; I guess Sirius only began talking to me because I stood up to him.”

“You're right,” Heather agreed. “Can I ask something else?”

“Sure.”

“Are you and Dom, well to put it right have you and Dom done it?”

I lay there in shock for a second before answering. “N-no, well I haven't, Dom … er, yeah I'm sure she has, but not me. I make out with guys, but that's it! I wouldn't give away my virginity willy-nilly.”

Willy nilly. I thought. Smack me.

“Wow, I feel the same, unlike Kimberly and Mary; I do want to keep it for someone special. I overheard you and Dom talking about boys the other day and how they think of sex every seventeen seconds, is that true?”

I couldn't believe I was having this conversation right now; I wanted to pretend I fell asleep, but Heather seemed eager to know, didn't her parents ever talk to her about the birds and bees? I knew Hogwarts never had Sex Ed class, but seriously!

“That's what we read in mags like Cosmo and Cleo,” I replied. “But yeah, it seems they do, for example they could see something that triggers a thought, say squishy things could remind them of boobs or they can be like doing a spell, and suddenly think about sex, like: Winguardium Levi-sex...”

I had to cover my mouth to stifle my laughter, not to wake the other girls. Heather had her head shoved into her pillow her body shaking with laughter.

“Or one galleon plus one galleon equals...sex.” I choked out, Heather laughed harder into her pillow and I too had to shove my head into mine. Once we calmed down, I wiped away the tears of laughter that managed to escape.

“I wonder if any of the really mysterious guys think about it too,” Heather asked, more to herself.

“Probably, I wouldn't put it past them; I've caught Regulus taking a look down Dom's top once or twice before.”

“Really?”

“Yup, and trust me, Darren was checking you out.”

Heather giggled, “Yay! What part of me?”

I thought for a moment. “Your ass, definitely, trust me Heather, you've got junk in the trunk.”

“Never heard that one before,” Heather said. “I'm glad he looks though, I'm so glad you forced me to go out with him.”

“I'm glad I led you down the path of righteousness.”

We both slowly nodded off to sleep and the next morning Heather finally came to her senses and hinted to Darren that she would accept his feelings. So they were now officially a couple, and I was so happy for them.

Things were going smoothly, and I was happy and content.

“Potions, yiippieee!”

It was Monday afternoon and all my classes went well, including Transfiguration and DADA. Potions was by far my favourite, I couldn't believe I was naturally good at it.

“Calm down, Yomee!” Dom chuckled.

“We change partners today, and I'm so damn happy!” I cheered, as I did a little happy dance.

“Poor, Snape!”

“He'll survive, seriously, I can tell why Lily ditched him, he's too far gone in his own little world, and he has trust issues.”

Dom smiled. “Well, James and I are talking. But if I have to touch something before him, he holds it like it's diseased or something. It's so bloody annoying!"

“Well, let's hope we get better partners, besides Mulciber and Avery,” I replied, as we arrived and lined up. Slughorn soon appeared to let us in and skipping in, we lined up for our change of partners. Snape didn't look too impressed that I was eager to change, I felt bad, but it was for the best, I didn't want to snap if he really got to me.

“Right, boys across from girls and two steps to the left!” Slughorn said with a clap of his hands.

We did as instructed and lining up across from Snape, I gave him a slight nod of thanks and he returned it, I smiled slightly and then moved two steps to the left and looking up I came face to face with my new Potions partner.

Sirius Black.

“Well, this is a surprise,” Sirius said with a wink.

“You got that right,” I chuckled.

“OH you've GOT to be kidding me!”

We spun around to see James paired up with yet, another Slytherin girl. Instead of looking as disappointed as Dom had, this girl looked rather happy, but was failing at hiding it.

“Yomee!”

I looked to see Dom, who was with Snape. I couldn't help but to laugh. Lily ended up with a Hufflepuff guy.

“Padfoot!” James whined. “Padfoot, I love you mate!”

“I'm not swapping, Prongs!” Sirius chuckled. “Definitely not swapping.”

I raised an eyebrow. “What?”

Sirius winked at me. “Nothing.”

“Okay students; go to your tables so we can begin the lesson!” Slughorn exclaimed, clapping his hands with haste. “Come on, come on!”

Grabbing my hand, Sirius dragged me over to a table third from the front, James and his partner took the table in front of us. Dom and Snape took the table behind us.

I looked at Sirius, who was looking at me.

“Right, class, time to begin the lesson! Today we will be learning the history of brewing, uh, turn to the back of your books for some quick notes!”

We all opened our books, but when I opened mine, I realised Snape's notes had gone. Looking over to Sirius, I saw a confused look on his face.

“I think you may have mine,” I said trying to sound light and unpanicky.

“What are all these notes?” He said, flipping through the pages.

“Uh, nothing!” I said, trying to grab it back, but Sirius took it out of reach.

“What is this, Sophie?”

“Mr Black, Miss Adams, is there a problem?” Slughorn asked, causing everyone to look at us.

“Erm, nothing sir, got our books messed up!” I said with a forced smile, finally grabbing my book from Sirius and giving his back.

“Uh, shit, Sophie!” I heard Dom mumble from behind me.

“Right, right, well pay attention!” Slughorn said, going back to his lecture.

“You've got a lot of explaining to do, this isn't over,” Sirius said with a wink. “After class, yeah?”

Great.

I gave a forced smile and wanted to hit myself.

So working with Sirius didn't turn out to be that bad after all. He was rather easy to work with and I didn't feel awkward at all, like I had been with Snape. Sirius said that he was all about being fair, so we did things together in the same manner, which I found less irritating and I could take my time without thinking I was doing wrong. He even helped me out and gave me tips on how to understand things I wasn't quite sure on. And whilst copying some notes off the board, Slughorn allowed us to talk and it was the first time Sirius and I talked about something other than school work. I was surprised to say the least when he brought up the subject about...

“Boyfriends?”

I looked up from my work with a raised eyebrow. “Boyfriends?”

“Yeah, how many boyfriends have you had?” Sirius asked in the most casual manner.

“Uhh, random, but okay,” I said, a little weirded out. “Um, well a couple.”

“A couple, both serious or just lust?”

I bit my lip to refrain from laughing. “What? Sirius, what the hell?”

Sirius chucked. “Oh, come on, you can tell me!”

I exhaled a breath I didn't know I was holding. “Uh, well one was sorta serious, and the other, well was more lust, if you could count having a proper boyfriend at four-years-old.”

“Uh, I see, cool,” Sirius said, as he wrote down a few more notes off the board. “How did you guys break up?”

“Well, he was kind of my brother's friend, so … yeah ...” I said slowly. “My brother, didn't really approve, and well it kind of fell apart.”

“Oh, sorry to hear about that.”

I shrugged. “Na, it's cool, I was thirteen, and looking back it was probably only a crush. What about you?”

Sirius shrugged. “Mostly all lust, there was this one girl when I was eleven, but she was sorted into Slytherin.”

“Oh, right.”

“Now I just have flings, but lately I haven't really felt compelled to do anything, actually I feel rather lazy.”

“There, there,” I said, patting him gently on the shoulder. “You'll get your mojo back soon.”

Sirius groaned and I watched as he let his head fall onto his folded arms and mumbled a few unaudiable words.

“Uh, what was that?”

“I wanna...” He said a little louder.

“You wanna?”

“I wanna have sex!”

“WHAT!” My words came tumbling out of my mouth before I could hold them back. My cry echoed throughout the classroom, silencing everyone and causing them to turn in their seats to look at me. Professor Slughorn stood to his feet with panic written all over his face.

“Miss Adams, what is the matter?!” He stammered.

I sat there frozen for a second; I couldn't find any words to say.

“Uh, sorry sir, she's very shocked about this particular Potion that uses the heart of pig, you see, Adams here, is an animal lover, she just got a little spooked,” Sirius said. “Isn't that right, Soph?”

“Uh, uh, y-yes, that poor pig!” I said quickly.

“Wtf, Yomee, why would you care about some pi-”

I spun around and gave Dom 'the look' and Dom quickly came around. “Uh, yeah sir, major animal lover, vegetarian and all.”

“Is that so Adams? Quite hard to believe after I saw you devouring that pork chop at dinner last night,” Snape said in his slow drawl.

“What pork chop? Snape, stop lying,” Dom said, giving him a nudge.

“Okay, well next time, Miss Adams, please keep your disapproval at a lower volume, thank you!” Professor Slughorn said swiftly, as he took his seat. “Back to work please!”

I let out a breath, and gave Sirius, who was laughing beside me, the evil eyes. “Thanks, Sirius.”

“I didn't know you were going to react like that!”

“Well, I did, because what the hell!” I hissed. “You don't just spill the beans like that, I don't want to know.”

“Well it's true,” Sirius sighed. “I don't know what's going on, I don't want to do anything with any girl, because I want to have sex with someone else.”

“Why, have you been with every girl? I mean, I don't wanna know, and whoever you want it to be with, will mostly likely come around soon. Now please, can we talk about something else?!”

Sirius laughed. “Yeah, sorry.”

I rolled my eyes and went back to copying my notes, still a little shocked about our first conversation about something other than school work – sex - and in the middle of potions for that matter.

Potions was gonna get real interesting.

*** *** ***

I tried to escape after class, I really did, but not even Dom could keep Sirius away, and not only that, James wanted in also. Why, oh why, did we have to get our books mucked up.

“So what's with the notes, Sophie?” Sirius asked. “They changed the entire ingredients on some.”

“What notes, what's happening?” James asked, trailing behind.

“None of your business go away!”

“That's how you've been passing huh? Tell me!”

“Sirius, go away!”

“No!”

“Yes!”

“On three, we run …” Dom whispered to me. “THREE!”

Grabbing my arm, Dom and I bolted, pushing our way through the students.

“You aren't going to get away!” I heard Sirius' voice bellow, close behind.

I squealed trying not to laugh, as Dom and I zig zaged through students, passing Lily on the way.

“Hey! No running the in corridors!”

But we didn't listen and just as Sirius and James were catching up, luck just happened to come around the corner by the name of Matthew.

“MATT!” Dom cried.

He stopped and I threw myself at him, Matthew caught me and when he saw what the commotion was all about, he pulled Dom and me behind him, and I cheekily poked my tongue out at Sirius and James, who skipped to a halt in front of Matthew.

“What is going on?” Matthew asked.

“Just having a bit of fun mate, nothing to worry about,” Sirius said, standing up tall.

“Uh, right, well keep it for later,”

Sirius looked at me, and I smiled slightly. Sirius smiled slightly too.

“Fine, catch ya.”

“Naww! Come on Padfoot, I wanna know about the notes!”

“Later, Prongs, later.”

“Anyway, Sophie, I can't talk right now, but could you come meet me in the Transfiguration room at around 4:30?”

I raised an eyebrow. “Er, sure, Matt, both of us?”

Matthew shook his head. “Just you.”

I nodded and gave Dom a quick look. “Alright.”

“Cool, see you then.”

I nodded and smiling Matthew walked off, leaving me curious to what he wanted.
