A/N: All right, so I had some trouble with this chapter. Actually it was easy to write the first time, but they told me I couldn't describe torture and that was a big part in this chapter. I hope I did a good job at fixing it and I hope you all enjoy!~Goddess Faith
Chapter Nineteen: Saving Her Guys
The plan worked perfectly! Fred did a great job at distracting the nurses and Hermione zipped in and out, grabbing several charts. She ran until she reached the elevator and only looked at the charts when the doors were closed and she was sure she was alone.
“Draco Malfoy… Aiden Lawless…” She muttered as she scanned through the charts, looking for any sign of their names. “Come on!” She pleaded, not having a back up plan.
Finally on the last chart on the last page she found them both.
“Floor -1?” She questioned as she looked at it again, knowing it must be a mistake. Could their be a -1 floor? Was it the basement?
She looked up at the buttons on the elevator, examining them carefully. What could this be talking about? It only had 1-60. No floor above or below. This had to be a typo, right? For some strange reason, Hermione got the feeling that it wasn’t. Maybe there really was a -1 floor. The elevator dinged and the doors opened revealing a very upset looking nurse.
“Is everything all right?” Hermione questioned, folding the charts in her arms.
“Um… yeah…” The nurse nodded, hitting the floor button she was going on. She then looked at Hermione’s arms. “Where did you get those charts?”
“Um… I am an… intern!” Hermione came up with it. “I am suppose to deliver these to Healer Samules on floor -1.”
“Are you?” The nurse sounded as if she wasn’t for sure if she believed Hermione.
“Yes, ma’am, I am. I know she usually doesn’t work on that floor, but this was an emergency and she really needs these charts…” Hermione sighed, trying to act dumb. “Problem is I wasn’t listening and I have no idea how to get there.”
“What is your name, kid?” The woman asked, folding her arms.
“Pansy Parkinson.” Hermione said the first name that came to her mind. She knew if she was going to make this work she couldn’t use her own name.
“I swear if I get in trouble for this I am coming after you.” The nurse rolled her eyes and then turned to the buttons. She slid a trap door open that revealed three buttons. One was green, one was purple, and the last was brown. She hit the purple one twice, then the green one, the brown on four times, and then hit the purple one last time. As soon as she did this the elevator jolted and it felt as if the cord holding it had snapped as they started hurling down. Hermione wanted to scream, but the nurse looked calm, so she didn’t.
They finally stopped, knocking Hermione off her feet. The nurse offered her hand and pulled Hermione up. She didn’t let go at first.
“Be very careful down here. It is very dangerous!” She warned as the door beeped and opened. The warning shook Hermione a bit and she was confused. Should she go? Of course! Her best friend and boyfriend were down here somewhere! Hermione nodded to the nurse as she stepped out of the elevator.
Hermione was expecting to see a normal hall, just like the rest of the floors. So imagine her shock when she stepped into darkness. For a second Hermione was scared, but remembered she had other senses to rely on. She closed her eyes as she felt a rush of moist air surround her and she stretched her arms out to feel that the walls near her were narrow. She listened closely to hear something that surprised her. Screams of pain echoed from all around her. Hermione bit her lip as her eyes opened again.
This time she could see a bit more. Her eyes were adjusted enough to see that the hall was fairly lit by a lantern here or there. As she began to walk, she took out her wand. This made her feel a tad bit better about the situation. The screams of pain never died down and it made Hermione winch every time. What was going on?
She came to an iron door and she looked at it for awhile. It was now that she wished she had Harry and Ron there for backup. Harry was fearless when it came to stuff like this. She should have known he wouldn’t help her save two Slytherins. She didn’t blame him either.
She shook her head, knowing she was only trying to distract herself from the task at hand. She sighed as she forced open the very heavy door. Hermione jumped back as a very bright light exploded her eyes. She shielded her eyes as she tried to get them to adjust.
Once they did she kind of wished they never had. There was a long hall, just like in the room before, but in this hall there were cages that lined the walls. She looked around and saw that there were people in the cages. A moment of pity came over her as she thought about how she would save them all. Then they got a whiff of her. Then it didn’t take two seconds until they were pushed up against the cages.
“Hey sweetie, how about coming over her. Let me take a bite you.” One called and at first Hermione was confused until he smiled showing his long fangs. This scared Hermione, because she had never seen vampire fangs before. Aiden kept his hidden.
“Yeah, walk this way. Your blood sounds so good.” Another one on the other side of her said.
“Are you all vampires?” Hermione questioned rather stupidly. “That must have been what the nurse warned me about.” She whispered to herself.
Hermione began to walk quickly past them, trying to ignore the remarks and trying to find Aiden. Maybe they could get out of here and find Draco.
“AIDEN!” She yelled as she began to get scared.
“HERMIONE!” She heard someone shout back and then a loud scream of pain. She began to run toward it.
“AIDEN!” She yelled again, but didn’t get a response, just another scream.
She ran as fast as she could until she finally came to the cage where she saw Aiden laying on the ground and another guy standing over him. This guy let a whip fall to the ground as he jumped around in surprise when he heard Hermione.
“Stuplify!” Hermione yelled, stunning the person and running to the cage.
Aiden looked terrible. He had no shirt on, just a pair of dirty looking boxers and blood poured from his back. For a moment Hermione stood in shock, not knowing vampires could bleed. Then she realized how stupid it sounded right then and ran over to Aiden’s cage.
“Aiden!” She cried. “What is this place?”
“No time to explain. Can you break that lock?” Aiden pointed to a small lock. He leaned up against the cage bars for support. Hermione knew he must be exhausted.
“Yeah, but why can’t you just break it? You are super strong.” Hermione questioned and Aiden shook his head.
“Something else I will have to explain once we are out of here. Please, just break the lock. We have to get Draco and get out of here!” He started to sound annoyed and Hermione knew she better do as she was told.
“Bumbardos!” She yelled at the lock and it shattered to pieces. Aiden pushed open the cage and ran out, grabbing Hermione’s hand.
“Aiden! Where are we going?” She yelled, trying to keep up as he ran farther down the hall. No where near the door.
“They have Draco in the back. If we don’t get to him soon, they might just kill him!” He called back to her.
“Hermione, please, we will have time to talk later!” Aiden explained again. Hermione sighed.
After about a minute of running and snapping vampires, they came to another strong door. Aiden backed away from it and sighed.
“I can’t go through this door. Only you can, right now. I really hope Draco is still alive. This room will probably be very bright, just like this one. I am not sure what it holds, I can’t go in or I will be useless. You must go in and carry Draco out. If you can do that then I might be able to carry him out of here.” Aiden instructed her. Hermione wanted to ask questions, but knew better.
“I know I am scaring you and you have a million questions… yes I know you hate when I read your mind to.” He smiled a little, reminding her of Aiden. “Just trust me. Once we get out of here, everything will be all right. I promise.”
“I am going to hold you to that.” Hermione told him as she pushed open the door and ran in. Aiden was right, the room was very bright and also very small.
“Draco!” She yelled as she saw a very limp blonde boy laying in the center. She rushed over to him and rolled him over. He was unconscious. She bit her lip, wondering what was going on. She quickly grabbed his arm and started to drag him across the floor. She knew she wouldn’t be able to carry him. She wasn’t that strong.
She opened the door and drug him out. Aiden was quickly by her side after the door was closed. He knelt down over Draco and put him hand over his lower stomach and closed his eyes.
“He is alive, but barley. I know how to help, though, don’t worry.” Aiden picked Draco up, but struggled. Hermione wondered what had happened to his super strength. “Don’t worry, I will explain. I am going back to the little cave where we trained before. I need you to meet me there first thing in the morning. Go back to Hogwarts for tonight and make sure that you are not alone for one second. We will leave for a new hide out tomorrow. Again, don’t worry. This is only the start of the war you wanted to finish.” Aiden kissed the top of her hand and then in a flash he was gone, leaving Hermione in a room full of snapping vampires.
It took her no time to get back to the main lobby where she found Fred waiting for her. She was a tad bit surprise, considering that she had forgotten all about him being there.
“Did you find them?” Fred asked her as they walked out of the place.
“Um… yeah I did.” She nodded and bit her lip. “It was actually kind of emotional. You know… to see them so hurt.” She tried to lie. “I just want to go back to Hogwarts and get some sleep.”
