Did I mention that I absolutely hate detention? You would think that since I hate it so much I would try to avoid it, but what can I say something about getting in trouble is amazing. You know the rush? Well I guess its not the getting in trouble part, it’s the part of what you do that gets you in trouble. You could say I’m a troublemaker, a jokester. The only thing I don’t like about it… is the fact that I spend countless hours in detention and nine times out of ten I spend them with the infamous Marauders.

Now, I don’t have a problem with most of them, it’s only one of them I truly have a problem with and his name is Sirius Black. It’s like this, there was one experience I’ve had with him that makes me destined to hate him forever. I’m not going to talk about it, because I just can’t.

So here I sit, in the trophy room with James Potter and Sirius Black. There giggling, yes giggling, in the corner polishing one trophy over and over again as they’re bent over some old piece of parchment.

I sucked in a breath as I moved to another trophy, I lost count of the number I polished a while ago. I had to polish a whole darn row of them. And let me tell you, this row is extremely long.

I glanced over at them again, and seeing that they were still on the same trophy I yelled over, "I will not do all your work!"

"If you can’t do the crime, then don’t do the time." Sirius said back in a sweet voice as him and James turned to look at me.

"Black, I swear, if you don’t come over here right now and pol –"

"Quinn, you’re friends with Lissa Smith right?" Sirius said interrupting my tirade.

"Uh," I said thrown off. "Yeah, why?"

"She’s that brunette smart girl, right?" I furrowed my brow confused why he was asking.

"Yeah, why?"

"Just curious." He said turning his back to me once more. Sirius looked at me for a second, then looked back to what they were working on, or whatever they were doing.

Confused, I simply turned back to my work and continued. I polished about three trophies before I realized that they were still not helping. Deciding that telling them wasn’t working, I decided to use force.

As quietly ass I could I crept up behind them and was just about to grab James Potter’s ear when I saw it. I stopped dead in my tracks. They were looking at that old parchment, only it wasn’t blank like I usually saw it, instead it was a map of the castle and on it little dots were moving with names floating above them.

"What the?" I started to say, but James whirled around.

"Haley!" He collided with me and pushed me back slightly as Sirius pulled out his wand and tapped it while muttering something, then suddenly everything vanished off the paper.

"What was that?" I said gasping slightly because he had knocked the wind out of me.

"It was nothing."

"If it was nothing," I said planting my hands on my hips, "then why hide it?"

"I’m not hiding anything." He said glancing back at Sirius who was stuffing the paper into his pocket.

"I’m not stupid. Now let me see." I said holding me hand out.

James and Sirius exchanged glances, then they both shrugged and Sirius pulled the parchment out of his pocket and placed it into my hand.

I pulled it open only to see blankness. I wasn’t surprise, there was probably a charm on it. I pulled out my wand just because. I tapped it thoughtfully.

"Hmm…" I said scratching my head with the tip of my wand before placing it back onto the yellow paper. "So, how do I make the map come back?"

"You can’t." Sirius said with a smirk. "Only we can." James jabbed Sirius in the ribs with his elbow and whispered something frantically that I didn’t bother paying any attention to.

"I know there’s a map, so don’t blame him for letting me know." I said rolling my eyes. "For the record, you’re not very sneaky about the whole thing. It’s pretty suspicious hiding in a corner laughing about Merlin knows what over a piece f parchment that is supposedly blank."

"We have a smart one here, don’t we?" Sirius said, and I made a face at him.

"Just show me how it works."

"And why in the right mind would we do that, Quinn?"

"Well, Black, I can do a favor for Mr. Potter here."

"How about you do a favor for me instead?" Sirius said wiggling his eyes suggestively.

"How about not. And that’s not what I’m talking about. I happen to share a dorm," I now looked at James who was watching me expectantly, "with Lily Evans." His whole body seemed to shift at the sound of her name. He straightened, a small smile touched his lips, and his eyes twinkled slightly. "And I could put in a good word for a certain someone."

"For me!" James said practically jumping up and down looking like a child, "For me! Give me the paper!"

"No!" Sirius said almost tackling James as he reached for the mysterious parchment in my outstretched hand. "Don’t be weak!"

"Padfoot, stop! I love Evans, I want her to love me back!" Then Sirius smacked him across the face. Wow, they were overreacting a bit about this map-type-thing.

"You know what, forget it." I said throwing the parchment on the ground not caring anymore. James was a friend of mine, not close, but still a friend, and I would rather him not get beat up. "Now, if you help me, I’ll put in a good word with Lily." I called over my shoulder. In the count of three James was beside me polishing up a storm.

I walked through the deserted corridors after detention was over, humming to myself. Now, don’t think I’m psycho, but I’m a dancer (surprising, right?) and when I hear music I tend to start dancing. And as I hummed I could of course hear the humming, and began to sway right there in the corridor, just before dropping my books and doing a full-blown twirl.

"Whoa! Watch out there!" Startled I let out a yelp, lost my balance and fell to the floor. Sirius chuckled, and walked over to pick up the books I had thrown on the floor.

"What do you want, Black?" I said as he handed my books back to me.

"I have come with a peace offering."

"A what?" I said confused. "What are you talking about?"

"Well, for about two years now, you have been biting my head off repeatedly for a reason I’m not quite sure of," some part of me ached, but only slightly, "and I have been searching for some way to clear things up, or make peace. And I think I have finally found it."

"You do, do you?" I said looking at him skeptically.

"Yes, I do, and here," he reached into his pocket and pulled out that piece of parchment, "it is!" he said triumphantly.

"The piece of paper, map thing that you and James practically got into a fist fight about?" I said taking it from him and looking it over; it was blank.

"Exactly!" He was a bit too excited and for some reason it bothered me. "Now, if you tilt it this way…" He said taking his wand out and tapping it muttering something inaudibly. Then ink spread across the page and revealed the same map and dots and names that I saw earlier. Only there were different names and the dots were in different places.

"So, what is it?" Then I saw my name standing beside a dot labeled ‘Sirius Black’. "Woah, does this show where people are and…" I took a few steps to the right, then the left and the dot moved with me, "Incredible." I said beginning to walk towards the Gryffindor common room.

Fascinated by the map I didn’t even notice when Sirius slung his arm across my shoulders. I watched the names, then something caught my attention. Emmy Williams, and Clarke Craft were in a corridor that no other people were in, and their dots were incredibly close.

I rolled my eyes, I would be hearing about that later.

"Interesting isn’t it?" Sirius said, I could feel his breath on my cheek and I realized how close he actually was. I shoved his arm from my shoulders and pushed him away. "Now I need that back." I looked up and noticed that the Fat Lady was in sight.

"Oh, uh, right." I said folding it and handing it back to him.

"So, are we good now?" Sirius asked. I said the password then turned to him.

"One secret revealed isn’t going to make me not hate you." The portrait swung open. "But I guess it’s a step." I said stepping through the portrait hole.

I woke up to the sound of the shower running, I looked over the room and saw that everyone except Lissa Smith were out of the beds and not in sight. On the bed beside me was an outfit - which sported the color of light blue - neatly spread across the covers. I cursed to myself as I pushed out of bed. That meant the Emmy was in the bathroom and she would take forever.

Emmy Williams was one of my best friends. Almost all guys were attracted to her. She was your usual blonde and blue eyed girl. You know the type of girl that has the ability to make guys weak at their knees just by looking at them. Her blonde hair went almost to her waist and had blonde almost white natural highlights.

I grabbed the brush I kept on my nightstand and quickly pulled it through my dark hair before pulling it into a sloppy bun. I threw the brush at Lissa’s feet and she mumbled something in her sleep before stirring and sitting upright. Weird thing about waking Lissa was she always sat up before she knew what was going on.

"What? What’s going on?" She said looking around quickly. When she saw me watching her, she groaned and fell back onto her back putting a pillow over her face. "Haley! It’s Saturday, can’t you let me sleep in once!"

"Sorry, Lissa, but come on. Emmy’s in the shower and I have no one to go to breakfast with."

"I’m not going to breakfast without showering first." Lissa said in a muffled voice through her pillow.

"Lis, come on! I need you!" I said going over to the side of her bed and tugging at her arm.

"Are you going to go to breakfast in a tank top and pajama pants that have frogs on them?" She said trying to make a point, but that wouldn’t work.

"Well, actually, I was going to wear my pink bunny slippers too."

"Ughhh!" Lissa groaned, but she rolled out of her bed and landed on the ground on all fours. "Give me a minute okay?" She crawled to her trunk and began to push through the clothes that were in it. She pulled out a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt with a hood. "Hair tie." She mumbled holding her hand out to me.

I always had at least three hair ties on my wrist at all times. Mainly because I hated when I had a bad hair day and didn’t realize it until I was sitting in class, and then I would want to fix it but had no way too. So I carried around a quick fix at all times. I handed her an orange one.

After she changed and tamed her brown hair she pulled her hood over her head and turned to me, "If Remus sees me like this, you will die." She hissed.

"Love you too." I said as I pulled her out of the dormitory and down the stairs into the common room.

Lissa Smith has been my friend since I was five. She was a bookworm, but also known by everyone. She was nice to most people, and outgoing. She wore pretty glasses that framed her chocolate brown eyes and looked nice with her brown hair. She also had a massive crush on Remus Lupin.

"Lis, it’s this way." I said grabbing her arm as she almost drowsily walked into a couch.

"I know, I know." She said walking behind me placing a hand on my shoulder. She wasn’t much of a morning person.

"Hales! Lissa! Wait up."

"Patrick," I said turning with a smile. Patrick Smith hurried towards me.

"Hi, Pat…" Lissa mumbled..

"Morning, sis. How are you?" Patrick said wrapping his arm over his twin sister’s shoulder.

"Great." She mumbled. "I hate mornings." She looked at the couch longingly, and I knew she wished that those two boys weren’t sitting on it so that she could go lie down. "Well, Haley. Looks like you have someone to go to breakfast with, so I’m going to go back to bed.

"Lissa –"

"No, no," She said waving a hand in front of my face, "Catch you later." She said before scurrying up the stairs.

"Looks like it’s just you and me then." Patrick said. He helped me through the portrait hole and we headed for the Great Hall.

Patrick was a great guy; nice, caring, and cute. He looked like Lissa (well if Lissa were a boy), which was sometimes creepy, but thankfully he had green eyes instead of brown, and didn’t wear glasses. Him and I had been good friends since Lissa and I had been. Both Lissa and Emmy thought that he had a crush on me, but I didn’t think so, we were just good friends, and he never led on. Plus, I could never see him like that.

"So… how was detention?" He asked putting an arm across my shoulders.

"It was… interesting. James and Black were there." I said rolling my eyes at the second name.

"Oh, well that sounds fun." Patrick said laughing slightly.

"They didn’t do their share of the work we had to do until I told James that I would –"

"Quinn!" Dear Merlin, no!

"Walk faster." I muttered as I pulled Patrick along.

"Haley, I need to talk to you!" I slowed slightly at the sound of James’ voice. I turned my head to see James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter (ah, the Marauders in their whole) were hurrying towards me. I saw a group of girls giggle as Sirius winked at one of them.

"Hales?" Patrick said. "You’re cutting off my circulation."

"Sorry," I said as I released the hand that was clutching his arm with enormous force. "I need to talk to James for a sec, do you mind?"

"No, I can wait."

"Thanks," I said. I walked over to James and stopped as we meet each other in the middle of the corridor. "Yes?"

"I would like to impress upon you that you can’t tell anyone of out little," he glanced around, "map."

"I won’t, I can keep your guys’ secret." James smiled.

"You know what, Haley? You are incredibly cool."

"Er, thanks. That it?"

"We’re throwing a party in the Room of Requirement tonight, and I would like to invite you."

I smiled, "I’ll work it into my schedule." When I saw him shift uncomfortably and open his mouth to say something I beat him to it, "And I’ll bring Lily." His smile was so big it almost took over his face.

"Thanks, Haley!" He hugged me tightly, and I could’ve sworn that I heard a girl sigh somewhere nearby. "Nice pajama’s by the way." He said pulling away.

"Thank you."
