A/N: Well I had some extra time on my hands and I have been really anxious to write this story! I have had some many ideas flood my head in the past couple of days it is hard to straighten them all out. I might update The Dance before this one again, though.

Chapter Ten: Fred’s Secret

Hermione woke up in an empty bed. She assumed Aiden might have went out or something, maybe he would come back. She looked over at the clock to see it was nine thirty. She let out a sleepy yawn as she got up, planning on going to the bathroom. As she passed through the living room she noticed Fred sitting on the couch.

“Fred…” She started as she took a detour. “Are you all right?”

Fred looked up at Hermione and it looked like he hadn’t slept for days. Hermione gasped and sat down in an arm chair close to him.

“I…” Fred began. His voice sounded weak and she wondered what was going on.

“Where is George?” Hermione requested.

“He went to work.” Fred replied, sounding a bit stronger. “I think we need to talk.”

“All right…” Hermione urged him to go on, wanting to know what was happening.

“Hermione…” Fred looked up. “I have been trying to find a way to tell you this. Something happened while you were gone.”

“What do you mean?” Hermione questioned. She expected him to tell her that he met someone or something.

“Voldemort came to our shop. George is at work, yes, but it isn’t there. We are relocating.” Fred went on. “You better make yourself comfortable, because the story I have to tell you is going to be a long one.”

Hermione nodded, got up and headed toward the bathroom. No way was he listening to a long story on a full blatter. As she finished washing her hands she felt something breathe down her neck. She turned around and ran into Aiden.

“Hi,” She smiled a little. She was getting used to his pop up visits.

“Hey,” he looked a bit grim.

“Are you all right? You look a bit sick…”

“I am fine, it is just the smell in this house.” Aiden continued. “I just wanted to tell you I am sorry that I didn’t stay last night. I won’t see you until you arrive back at Hogwarts tonight. Your things are packed though, I made sure of it. So spend the few hours you have with these friends of yours and I will see you when you get back.” Aiden gave her a brief hug and then was gone before Hermione could say a word. She shook her head, not thinking anything of it.

“All right, sorry. Go ahead with your story.” Hermione instructed as she sat back down in the arm chair.

“It was the Friday after you returned to school.” Fred went on. “Lupin came by. He was asking a lot of weird questions, that at the time, George and I didn’t think anything about.”

“What kind of questions?” Hermione questioned, wondering what on Earth Fred and George could tell Remus that would be any help.

“Seeing people. He asked if we saw anyone out of the ordinary or looked suspicious.” Fred went on. “We just thought he was looking out for us. We never knew he was trying to warn us.”

“Warn you?” Hermione question.

“Please save questions for the end.” Fred requested before he went on. Hermione nodded and urged him to go on. “Yes, warn. After he left that night, George and I didn’t think anything of it. We just thought he might be looking for someone for the Order, you know? We were kind of bummed we couldn’t be of any help, but we didn’t think we were in any actual danger.

The next day we had three people call in sick, so George and I went into work. We really didn’t mind, seeing as we love our shop. Anyway, we didn’t get much business that day. A few regulars here and there, but that was about it. That was until around noon. Come to think of it, it was exactly noon… This person in a black hood on came in. He didn’t look around, just came right up to where I was standing. I asked him if there was anything he needed that I could help with, but he didn’t answer to that question. ‘Fred Weasley?” is all he asked. I stupidly tell him that yeah, that is me. He takes off his hood to reveal he is this old man. He tell me his name is Simon Haze and he is a very important person. He then went on to tell me I needed to meet him in the clearing at Hogwarts in the woods at midnight. I laughed, thinking he was joking. He told me that if I didn’t show consequences would be drastic. That they needed my help. At that time I had no idea who they were. So naturally I told him he was crazy. He didn’t say anything. He turned and walked out of the shop.

That night around eleven I began to wonder if I should go. I hadn’t told Geroge about the man in the shop yet. It did bug me though. I ended up not going. I went to bed instead, thinking that it was just some prank.

Well, that night I was woken up by a horrible scream coming from George’s room. Around his bed were four werewolves. I didn’t know what to do, so I went for my wand and started shooting curses. They yelped and ran, but not before taking a bite off of George. My best guess is to why they did it, is that they thought it was me. But George was changed into one of them. Now every full moon he goes with them. He won’t tell me where he is going and he won’t tell me who the others are. It scares me Hermione, because this has really changed him. Not for the better either… I think Voldemort might be behind this. I think he is trying to get more werewolves and he is going to control them. It scares me to think that George is one of them, but I can’t stop him. I am useless against a werewolf.”

“Werewolf? George?” Hermione questioned. You have got to be kidding me! She added to herself. It was a little much to take. First vampires and now werewolves? What was next, fairies? She sighed and shook her head. At least Fred hadn’t been turned… or had he? “George hasn’t bitten you… has he?”

“No,” Fred shook his head and reached down his shirt to pull out his silver necklace. “He has tried, but this pendant keeps him away.”

“You shouldn’t live here with him if you think he is working for evil.” Hermione informed Fred.

“Yeah, and that is the part I wanted to tell you.” Fred took in a deep breath. “I might be coming back to Hogwarts.”

“You what?”

“Yeah. Remember, I didn’t finish my seventh year. The Order have been suspicious about Lupin for a while now and they think it is the perfect idea to have someone in there.” Fred explained to her.

“You are going to be at Hogwarts? With me?” Hermione kept on. All this was really shocking her.

“Yeah… what’s wrong? I thought you would be happy…” Fred’s face dropped a little bit.

“Fred, I am different at school. As you know I am a Slytherin. I won’t be able to even talk to you without getting disowned by all of them. Draco is already mad at me…”

“Wait… did you just say Draco? As in Draco Malfoy?” Fred asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Yes…”

“What have you gotten yourself into Hermione?” Fred shook his head.

“Nothing that I don’t need to be in.” Hermione replied. “As I was saying, we won’t even be able to smile at one another.”

“So be it, because I am not coming back for you. I am going to help the Order.” Fred informed her.

“Fred, I am serious. You have to act mad at me, just like Ron and Ginny. They aren’t acting, but that is just the example. Nobody in Slytherin can know.” Hermione said. Except for Aiden, she added to herself.

“So it isn’t true?” Fred requested.

“What?”

“That you found out you were really pureblood and you hate all muggle borns and blood traitors.” Fred replied.

“That is true.” Hermione nodded. “It is all true. I am pissed at my so called parents for lying to me and putting me through the hell of being a muggle growing up.”

“Why did you come back, then?” Fred’s eyes were advert. He wouldn’t look at her and that killed Hermione.

“I was invited.” Hermione went on.

“Yes, you were. I just don’t understand why you would want to be around us ‘blood traitors’.” Fred’s voice was dark and it scared Hermione a little bit.

“I should go. My train leaves soon. See you at school I guess.” Hermione got up and went to her room. Half of her expected him to stop her the other half wished he would have.

She didn’t see Fred again. It was just like the day she left for Hogwarts. It really did hurt her to know he wasn’t going to see her off. It killed her to know he would be at Hogwarts sometime soon. She had no idea what she was going to do. She felt like she needed to talk to someone, but who? Aiden? Could he really help her in a time like this? It was worth a shot. He was the only one who knew the truth about her.

“Come and play, Hermione…” A voice hissed through the night. “We won’t hurt you.”

Hermione’s vision was blurred. From what she could see she was in a forest of some kind. The forbidden forest, maybe? She tried to look around to who was talking. Then, all at once, she heard a lot of footsteps. Who all was here?

“Yeah, Hermione, come on… we won’t bite… much,” They kept taunting her. Hermione was confused. Were they vampires? What was she doing in a forest with vampires alone.

“Back off, Milachi,” A strong voice yelled and then she saw a blurry figure come in front of her.

“Brave boy, Aiden. Or perhaps foolish. Yes, defiantly foolish.” The hissing voice said again as she heard leaves scatter toward her. The figure that Hermione guessed was Aiden flew away from her.

Hermione jerked awake as the train came to a halt. She had fallen asleep? She took a deep breath as she went to get off of the train.

“Hermione!” Aiden’s voice boomed as he ran up to her, grasping her in a hug. This surprised Hermione for two reasons. One, she hadn’t been expecting anyone. Two, Aiden had went from enemy to friend so fast, it was shocking itself.

“Um.. Aiden…” Hermione muttered, hugging him back.

“Hi,” Aiden released her, looking at him. “Did you have a nice time?” He got her bag off of her shoulder. Hermione raised her eyebrow, not for sure about all of this.

“Yes… I guess…” Hermione replied. “Aiden, what are you doing here?”

“I came to pick you up. I didn’t think you needed to go all the way back to Hogwarts by yourself.” Aiden replied, his voice a little less happy.

“Oh, well thank you.” Hermione replied as the carriage came trotting up.

“My lady,” Aiden opened the door taking a bow. Hermione, for the first time that day, smiled as she got into the carriage.

Aiden climbed into the carried and sat on the opposite side of Hermione. They were silent for a minute and then Hermione decided she would speak.

“You know, I have been thinking.” Hermione informed him and Aiden looked at her, pushing for her to continue. “Well, the way I see it, we both need help.”

“Oh really?” Aiden asked raising his eyebrow.

“Yes,” Hermione replied nodding. “I need help with my senses and you need help with love.”

“Hermione,” Aiden let out a loud sigh. “It won’t work. I would hurt her in the snap of a finger.”

“Not necessarily. Let me help you.” Hermione nearly begged. “You have learned to be around people in school, you will be able to be with her.”

“It isn’t possible. I am around a lot of people at school, that is how I do it. I can’t be alone with her.”

“You are alone with me right now.” Hermione argued.

“Yes, you I’m not in love with you. You don’t get me excited.” Aiden let out another sigh and got ready to explain. “You see, you have heard of the phrase love can make people do crazy things? I don’t want to get so excited that I do something crazy, like kill her.”

“That is what I am going to help you with.” Hermione concluded. “Or help you realize, because I think you have the self control to keep yourself at bay right now, you just don’t give yourself enough credit.” Hermione watched Aiden’s face as he conflicted her proposal. “Do we have a deal?”

“Yeah,” Aiden nodded. “I don’t think you can help me much, but you defiantly need to work on your senses.”
