Why am I blushing just because his arm is resting against mine in this cramped compartment of the train to Hogwarts? Well it's simple really. I love him... well as much one could love someone who doesn't love her back. Really, it all started about seven years ago in our first year.

I was walking down the corridor hurrying to my class hopelessly lost, and I bumped into him. I dropped my books, and he dropped his, and that was it. I looked into his gray eyes, and the rest was history. Pathetic isn't it? Well, I'm sorry, but that's how it happened. Of course I'm not exactly sure why I fell for him at that moment, because he gave me one of the fiercest glares I've ever recieved and called me filth because 'his books were now dirty from touching the floor', but nevertheless, I fell for him quite hard.

After that I didn't see him for a while. Okay, so that's a lie, I stared at him shamelessly in all my classes, but I didn't talk to him for a while. He did seem to soften after befriending James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, but I was still a little weary to approach him. Finally I gained the courage and sat near him at dinner one day. No seriously, there were only two people between us! That was a huge milestone for me. I was excited for about a week after that until I realized that he had no clue that I had even been there.

After all that, I decided I would try to get his attention and have him approach me. So I started wearing a little make-up until I decided that I looked like a clown. So then I just started to smile at him if he looked at me. That seemed to work. And to my excitement he finally began to talk to me, and once I stopped babbling like an idiot we found out we had a lot in common, and that's how I got to where I am now... best friends with Sirius Black. At least that's what he sees us as... sadly.

"And then she fell and I half-caught her." James proclaimed.

"That's great, man." Sirius said in that wonderful voice of his that never failed to make me smile.

"Of course then she smacked me for touching her, but that's beside the point." James said sitting back aginast the seat he was sharing with Remus and his girlfriend Rice. I was sharing a seat with Peter and Sirius. I was squished between the window and Sirius, but that was fine... Sirius can lean against me anytime.

"Amber." Sirius said nudging me with his arm. I looked at him smiling.

"Today-" The compartment door slid open and there stood Clarise with her low-cut  shirt, platinum blonde hair, and a skirt that was barely more then a piece of cloth. Sirius practically jumped out of his seat. "Clarise! Hey, I was just going to come looking for you." He got up and quickly hurried over to her. As soon as he was close enough she jumped on top of him almost forcing him to sit in Rice's lap as she snogged him senseless right there.

I quickly looked away and out the window. A long time ago, I'd learned to deal with this. It usually helped if I didn't look, but it still hurt. I mean, I know that Sirius doesn't return my feelings, but does he seriously need to snog every stinking girl he sees? Besides me, of course. I assumed they had parted because I heard hard breathing and the sound of the compartmemt door sliding open and closed then a slam that probably meant that either a.) Clarise had pinned Sirius against the wall or b.) the other way around.

"Wow, that Clarise girl is an animal!" Remus chuckled. "I give them three days until Sirius' moved on." I looked back into the compartment, and sighed slightly thankful that he didn't think this master of public-displays wasn't going to last.

I rested my head against the window and the train's gentle motion caused me to nod off.

When I woke up I found Sirius sitting beside me (to my delight), Peter on the opposite seat, Rice, Remus, and James gone. Peter was pigging out of a chocolate frog, and Sirius was flipping absentmindedly through the pages of a Quidditch magazine.

Sirius looked up as I shifted in my seat yawning. He smiled at me and I was thankful it was hard to see when I blushed because my skin was tanned. I smiled back at him and stretched. Sleeping on trains equals uncomfortable.

"Hello, sleepy-head." Sirius said. His hair was slightly disheveled and I could smell that faint scent of perfume on him. My heart ached slightly. "Your brother was looking for you." He began reading his magazine again.

"Really? When?" I said sitting up straighter.

"I saw him in the hall like a half an hour ago."

"Thanks." I said getting up and walking out into the corridor. I walked up and down the train almost three times until I finally found him. I slipped into the compartment and rolled my eyes at seeing a brunette girl perched on his lap giggling. He whispered something in her ear and she blushed. "Nathan." I said patiently waiting for him to give me his attention.

He looked up at me. "Oh, hey, Am." He said not all embarassed to have his sister see him with a girl looking like she was about to give him a lap dance on his knees.

"Were you looking for me?" I asked wanting to get out of there. I didn't need to see my brother following his player-like ways.

"Oh, yeah, right." He began to stand patting the girl's bottom slightly to get her to move off of him as he stood. The grl gave me a glare but I shrugged at her as Nathan reached up to get his trunk.

Pulling it down he opened it, shuffled through it, and pulled out a pair of school robes.

"I think these are yours." He said handing them to me. "Mum, gave them to me by mistake." I examined them and nodded.

"Yep, thanks."

"No problem. I'll see you at school." He said polietely shooing me out of the compartment.

"See you." I said shutting the door behind me, and heading back to my compartment.
