Harry Potter lay in his bed that night tossing and sleepless. He couldn’t believe less than 12 hours earlier he was going on a date with the most amazing girl he could ever know. Now, well, now he couldn’t believe how wrong it had gone. A Death Eater attack had broken up their special moments, Ginny was in St. Mungo’s, and one previously mentioned attacker had supposedly knew his date’s name and saved her from a curse. He was happy that Rose wasn’t injured, but none of it was making sense.

He had looked for Rose when he first returned but she had already went to bed. An unnerving conversation with Neville Longbottom had confirmed that.

"Hey Neville, have you seen Rose since you’ve gotten back?" Harry asked upon entering the common room.

"Um, she went up to bed about an hour ago actually," he stumbled over his words and was obviously very nervous about something.

"Something bothering you?" Harry inquired of him friend.

"I- I’m sorry Harry. I really don’t know if it’s me who should say anything. I mean it could be nothing. She was really upset when she came back though, crying and everything. I would have tried to talk to her but, um, but Draco Malfoy was with her and they were kind of," he made an odd arm gesture, "hugging in a way," he finished bluntly.

This had angered Harry more than he would have expected. It also seemed to make things, horrible things, click in Harry’s mind. The Malfoy’s were a notoriously evil family who supported the Dark Arts. And Rose, she had said her parents were very close to them. Would that mean Rose’s family supported Voldemort also? Did she know it all along? She was probably good friends with everyone who attacked them that day, she even probably knew it was going to happen. Maybe she is just plotting against Harry and a Death Eater herself-

He stopped himself. He was being extremely paranoid. He just needed some sleep and to talk to her in the morning. Everything was going to be okay and a large understanding. But even as he turned over and settled in he wasn’t completely sure his thoughts were true.

Sleep went by very quickly for Harry. He was up before any of the other boys he roomed with and he went downstairs to find exactly the girl who had been on his mind. She didn’t look like she had slept much longer than he had. She jumped when he approached her.

"Hi Rose," he whispered, his throat suddenly closing on him. She smiled up meekly at him. "How are you feeling?"

"Alright. How is your friend? Ginny right?"

"She’s going to be okay, it wasn’t anything too serious," a silence crept over them. "That must have all came as a pretty big shock to you, huh?"

"Yeah, it really did. I guess I just wasn’t aware how bad things were here. I mean Death Eaters showing up at any given moment.." she trailed off but something was going off inside of Harry.

"You know who they were then?"

"Oh, well I didn’t when it happened but Draco explained everything to me yesterday," she said in a small voice.

"Well he would be the expert," he spat bitterly.

"And what’s that supposed to mean?" Rose turned on him with fire in her eyes.

"It’s just the Malfoy’s are proven supporters of Voldemort. I wouldn’t be surprised if his dad was there yesterday. I’m not sure if you knew this or not but that’s the kind of person he is."

"Draco is nothing like that, and his family has never appeared that way either. You have no right to say this about them!"

"Rose, I’m not trying to offend you, or him. Those are just the facts. I’m sorry if you never realized it. I shouldn’t have doubted you. I really am so sorry. Yesterday was just a lot to take in for everyone, I just jumped to some really bad conclusions. I would never lie to you about this though," his eyes pleaded with her.

"I know, Harry. It’s just Draco was, and I guess still is, a very important friend to me and I’m not going to give that up." A voice in the back of her head was asking if that was all true about the Malfoy’s and if she could have been oblivious to it.

"I wish our date would have gone better."

"It was fine, really, it’s not like you sneezed in my face while trying to kiss me or anything," she smirked at him and they both laughed.

"Did that really happen to you?" he asked through gasping breath.

"Yeah, it was very messy," she crinkled her nose at the thought. They moved closer together on the cough and Harry draped his arm across her shoulders. She looked up at him and they were for the third time in 2 days inches apart.

"I don’t have to sneeze," he breathed and then their lips found each other. Their lips just brushed at first and a spark ignited in both of them. They moved even closer and deepened the kiss. He ran his hand through her long soft hair and felt as if he was in heaven. Her lips felt like his clouds. Then someone was coughing very loudly.

"Uh, mate, sorry to interrupt, but everyone is starting to come down and I figured I would warn you," Ron announced very uncomfortably as Rose’s face turned the color of his hair. When she turned to get up however he gave two thumbs up to Harry which Hermione gave him a light swat in his arm for. The two couples walked together talking as the best of friends, but stealing glances at their special someone until they reached the Great Hall for breakfast. Harry and Rose’s fingers kept becoming entwined and she was so wrapped up she didn’t notice the heartbroken platinum blonde who was trying to catch her eye.
