A/N: This chapter may have an OC Hermione. I don’t know how someone that has just lost their memory will act, so I have no experience with this type of situation. So don’t kill me if Hermione doesn’t match that category and is being very laid back for someone that doesn’t have their memory.

Chapter 16: Secrets?

“Hermione?” Draco asked quietly. Realizing that she really didn’t have a clue on who she was he continued, “Your name is Hermione Granger and I’m Draco Malfoy.” Saying their full names to see if there was any sign of recognition.

“Where am I and why are you here, in the same bed as me? …. Are…are…are we together?” Hermione continued to ask.

“We’re at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry….”

“A magic school?” Hermione interrupted before putting a hand to her forehead. “Okay, I can believe that. Just had a few flashes that can let me believe that. Please continue.”

Draco brightened up at the idea of Hermione getting her memory back quickly. “No, we aren’t a couple,” Draco said sadly, which didn’t go unnoticed by Hermione, “but we are in the same bed because I’m using Veela magic to heal you. Which is why you can’t let go of my hand.” Draco added, having to have had to grip Hermione’s hand tighter when she tried to pull it away.

“Why would I need to be healed? I feel fine. Veela? You wouldn’t mind explaining would you?”

“I wouldn’t mind at all. I’m glad that you feel fine, but you did need to be healed. I found you on the steps in front of the Great Hall. You were unconscious and had a cut on your forehead. I brought you here to the Hospital wing and let Madame Pomfrey have a look at you. She said you needed a blood transfusion, that how I came to be using Veela magic to heal you. You’ve been in a coma-like sleep for a week now.”

“A week? And you still haven’t explained to me this whole Veela thing. And we do have time before I’m completely healed. By the way how long will that take?”

“About two more hours,” Draco said with a small chuckle.

“What are you laughing at?”

“You.”

“Me?”

“Yes, you.”

‘Why?”

“Because, even without your memory you still want to know everything, just like your old self. Actually you were the one that taught me everything, other than the simple facts that everyone knows, about Veela's.”

“Oh, I see why you would laugh. But please explain.”

“Ok, ok. Where should I start? Veela's are magical creatures but it is possible for a witch or wizard to become one if there is Veela blood within the family. For there to be Veela blood in the family it can happen in two ways. Someone can marry a pure Veela, who have the ability to make themselves look human. Or marry a half-Veela, like me, who is human but can change into the bird-like creature that Veela's are depending on our emotions. Mostly when we feel anger we change.”

“Other than changing forms, we also have heightened senses. I just found out we had healing powers, I did this mostly on instinct. Also, we are destined to have a mate. We have been described as beautiful possessive procreating maniacs.”

“Wow, that amazing. Have you found your mate, yet?” Hermione asked happily, looking just like a 6 year old on Christmas morning.

“Yes, I have,” Draco said sadly.

“What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy that you found her/him if they are your destined?”

“I’m happy don’t get me wrong. I love her very much, I would do anything for her,” Draco said, completely not paying attention to the fact that he never told her that his mate could be a guy.

“Then, what’s wrong?” Hermione asked. Draco noticed the change in her voice but didn’t want to believe that it was jealousy.

“Well, last time I spoke to her she hated me.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah. You can let go now, but we still need to see Madame Pomfrey before we go. Then I’ll show you where your room is, okay?”

“Okay.”

To say that Madame Pomfrey almost had to be taken to St. Mungos when she saw them would be an understatement. After she checked Hermione she let Hermione leave without complaint. Of course, Madame Pomfrey would have never done that without forcing her patient to another day of rest under her watchful eye, but one look at Draco made her change her mind. The walk to the heads common room was relatively quiet. Hermione was in awe of the room and as Draco was going to show Hermione her bedroom, they heard a crash. Then another crash, a yell and then another crash. Just then Blaise came out of his room, looking bewildered before all three walked towards Ginny’s room.

Before knocking on the door, Draco turned towards Hermione, “Hermione, this is Blaise. You two are very close friends. Blaise, Hermione doesn’t remember anything, so don’t do anything crazy.” Draco said. Hermione gave Blaise a small smile, while Blaise nodded at Draco.

“Why are you telling him not to do anything crazy? What does that mean?” Hermione asked, stopping Draco from opening the door.

“Blaise is also a Veela, just turned about a week ago. His senses should have settled by now, but since these are his first few days without the potion he could lose control. If he loses control, he might scare you, which isn’t good seeing how you have no memory of who we really are. You might distance yourself. That might make it harder for you to remember.” Draco explained.

“Oh,” Hermione said, nodding her head seeing the truth in his statement.

“Can I hug her? It’s been a week since I last talked to her and I had no idea if she was ever going to get better.” Blaise said. Draco agreed, as long as Hermione would allow it. Looking at Hermione’s reluctant face, Blaise gave her his best puppy dog look. Hermione caved and agreed the separated when they heard another yell.

“What happened to Ginny?” Draco asked Blaise before opening the door. There stood Ginny throwing anything and everything at a wall, letting a frustrated sigh every time she threw something. Blaise walked over to her giving her a hug from behind pinning her arms to her side, saying soothing words to her. When she turned around she made a small noise of surprise, “Hermione!” she yelled before running over to give the girl a hug.

When they ended their hug, Blaise had to explain to Ginny what was wrong with Hermione because Ginny was confused at Hermione’s stiff behavior. Draco tried to bring the subject back to why Ginny had been so upset, but Ginny just brushed it off saying they would talk about it later. They all headed down to their first class which was potions. Hermione had to beg a lot because Draco and Blaise didn’t want to let her go to class. But in the end she won by saying that she needed it to get her memory back.

Potions had gone by without any accidents. Though, they did keep getting stared at by everyone. It wasn’t unusual for the Slytherins to be staring at Hermione with distaste, especially after she goes missing for a week. But Draco and Blaise became very alert when the Gryffindors were doing it too. Not just at him and Blaise, like usual, but at all four of them. But potions had gone by without any accidents, though the same can’t be said about after class.

“Drakey-poo, Zabini, why are you hanging out with them?” they heard pansy’s annoying voice calling them in the middle of the corridor.

“None of your damn business, Parkinson. Now go away,” Draco said.

“Come on now, Drakey-poo. You know you want me to stay. But if I leave it won’t be until you answer my question,” she said to Draco. “Hello mudblood, I see you’re back. I wish you would have died in the week that you were gone.” She continued now talking to Hermione.

“Parkinson, you will shut up and go if you know what’s good for you,” Blaise said. He and Draco were quickly losing control over their anger. Their claws had already grown.

Pansy just ignored him and continued, “Scared mudblood,” she said when she noticed that Hermione had subconsciously moved behind Draco.

Their eyes were glowing now. But before things with pansy could escalate any further, the Gryffindors walked by calling Hermione and Ginny, “Slytherin’s whores.” Blaise and Draco had grown out their fangs and their wings were about to come out, when thankfully an end was put to it when Dumbledore walked up to them.

Draco and Blaise had to be locked up in the common room twice. The first time, they escaped and started searching the school for Hermione and Ginny. Blaise went for Ginny who had transfiguration with Hufflepuff. While Draco went after Hermione who had charms with Ravenclaw. The two refused to leave the classroom, and the sight of two Slytherins with claws, fangs, and glowing eyes was enough to make anyone shut up. They didn’t grow out their wings because they didn’t want anyone to guess what creatures they were.

That was the reason why Dumbledore had to lock them up for a second time, with reinforced windows, which had been their escape route the first time. Though this time both Ginny and Hermione were with them. Dumbledore thought it would help them calm down since Draco and Blaise still wanted to go after the Gryffindors and Pansy.

After Draco and Blaise received a long scolding from Ginny, both Ginny and Hermione fell asleep, too tired from the days events. Draco and Blaise just watched them as if they were their hired body guards. A few hours later Ginny woke up and went for a walk while Draco took Hermione up to her room. Not even ten minutes later and Ginny ran back into the common room with tears streaming down her face while she ran towards her room. Then there was a scream from Hermione’s room. Blaise immediately went after Ginny while Draco ran to Hermione. When he walked in he noticed she was having nightmares.

Walking over to her he enveloped her in a hug. Rubbing her back and saying soothing words to her.

“Shhhhh, love. It was just a dream, love. Nothing more. Nothing is going to hurt you, love. I won’t let anyone hurt my mate.”

“Draco, I need to tell you something.”

A/N: I'm not going to give an reasons why it's so late, it'll just be another excuse. But just a few things to keep in mind before the next update; why is Ginny so upset and who was talking to Draco at the end and what do they have to tell him? Please review
