'Draco saw himself standing on a platform next to a canopy bed, under a full moon. The curtains of the bed were blowing in the wind and the stone floor around the platform was covered in rose petals. Draco couldn’t see farther than that area because it was surrounded by mist, but he could tell that someone was walking towards where he was.

He saw Hermione walking out of the mist and walking towards him. After one look at her he felt like he needed to gasp for air. Her hair was done, and it fell around her back, because of the layers in her hair she had a few strands falling into her eyes. Giving her a mysterious look. She was wearing a strapless satin gown. It started off as a deep royal blue and by the time it reached the bottom it was black. The light of the moon making her skin glow.

As she got closer he held out his hand to help her up the steps of the platform. Just from the simple touch of her hand in his, he felt deep desire and became aroused. When she was standing next to him, they engaged in a passionate kiss. Draco held her close to him. When they separated he led her onto the bed. He slowly undressed her. He put his attention on the junction between her right thigh and pelvis.

By this time his canines had grown and he no longer had nails but claws. Using one of his claws and canines he did the marking process on the junction of her thigh.
When he pulled back he knew that the marking process was done and that she was now his. To a normal muggle or wizard eye it would seem like Hermione’s skin was unmarked. But to a vela or any other creature with their same eye sight would see it differently. They would see DMM entwined together right on the junction. DMM stood for Draco Malfoy’s Mate.'

Draco woke up with a start that had been the best dream. He was about to go to sleep when he realized it was 4:25 am, and they had decided to see Dumbledore at five. He got up and did a quick scourgify on his transfigured bed and on himself. He then walked towards Blaise’s bed and woke him up.

“Hey mate, how are you feeling?” Draco asked.

“Like I’m lying in a hospital bed after being hit by the Whomping Willow.”

“Don’t worry; it’ll pass after you take a hot shower.” Draco said before he took a seat on the edge of Blaise's bed. He was right next to Hermione and when he looked at her he fell into a trance like state. The moon was shinning on her, and he remembered how she glowed when it was shinning on her in his dream.

“Draco? Draco…. DRACO!”

“Uh, um… yes Blaise? And will you shut up she might wake up,” Draco said coming out his trance when he realized Blaise was calling him.

“I know about your current situation but must you drool on my bed?” Blaise said with an amused expression.

“I was not drooling.”

“You were about to. You looked like a kid about to get a piece of candy he had been waiting months to get.”

“Did not, now shut up and go get ready.”

Draco helped Blaise, and helped him make his way to the bathroom. When he went back to Blaise’s room he tried to find anything to do, to avoid looking at Hermione. All he could find to do was to change his transfigured bed back into an armchair and clean the room with a quick spell. When he was done he looked back over at Hermione and fell into another trance like state. He didn’t know how long he was like that but stopped when Blaise came back.

“You are starting to make me regret becoming a veela. I don’t want to be in a trance every time my mate is around.” Blaise said.

“It doesn’t happen 24/7 Blaise. Only when you reach a new stage.” Draco tried to explain.

“Oh really, what stages?”

“Well, when you first find out whom your mate is. And this one is happening now because I just had a dream about the marking process.” Draco said.

“Ok, whatever just wake her up.”

“Do I have to?” Draco whined, “She looks so peaceful. Why do we have to wake her up.”

“Stop acting like a baby and wake her up she’ll be more upset with you if you don’t.”

“Fine, I’ll do it,” Draco said before he went about the task of waking her up. This time it was much easier then when Blaise and Ginny had turned back to normal. By five. They were all ready to go. The walk to Dumbledore’s office was very quiet. The only sound you heard was the click of their heels.

“Good morning, Mr. Zabini, Mr. Malfoy and Ms. Granger.” Dumbledore said.

“Good morning, Professor, sorry to bother you at such a time.” The three said at the same time. Giving each other looks at how weird that was.

“No problem I figured I’d be getting an early visit from the three of you.” Dumbledore said. “And from the changes in Mr. Zabini’s appearance, he must have just under gone his Veela inheritance transformation. By the way happy birthday Mr. Zabini.”

“Thank you professor. And yes you are correct about the Veela thing.”

“There isn’t much I can help with, since I have never gone under the Veela transformation. The best I can do is give you the same information you would find in books. Professor Snape can give you potions to help you go through this process smoothly. But Mr. Malfoy can tell you how it feels and what effects the changes have on you.” Dumbledore said.

“WAIT! Draco you’re a Veela too?” Hermione asked in a sudden outburst.

“Um, yeah,” Draco replied; with a beet root face so unlike his familiar cool expression.

“And you didn’t think I should know?” she screamed at him.

“I…um…I didn’t….” Draco tried to explain in a very quite voice.

“No, don’t talk to me. I thought we were friends but obviously you couldn’t trust me.” Hermione yelled before she walked out of the room.

“Thanks a lot professor,” Draco said before he tried to attack Dumbledore. Thankfully Blaise was able to hold him back.

“Actually, you will see pretty soon that this will help.” Dumbledore said. He seemed so calm; he acted as if there wasn’t an angry Veela trying to kill him.

“Help? HELP! How is this supposed to help? My mate HATES me now. And it’s all because of you.” Draco yelled, struggling against Blaise. Thank Merlin that Draco wasn’t a full bonded Veela or else Dumbledore as well as Blaise would have been long gone.

“Professor, you should do something. I don’t think I can hold him much longer.” Blaise said.

“Very well,” Dumbledore said before he stood up. It took him three powerful sleeping spells to knock Draco out.

“Mr. Zabini, I will send a notice to all your teachers about your absence, as well as the Heads and Ms. Weasley’s absence. I will give you all the day off and also the potions that you should take will be in your room with instruction on when to take them,” Dumbledore said.

“Yes, sir,” Blaise said as he casted a levitating spell on Draco.

“Also, try not to bother Mr. Malfoy today. Best advice is to leave him in his room by himself. But do try to get Ms. Granger to speak with him. And if you must speak with him, do it through her,” Dumbledore said as he ushered Blaise out.

Blaise walked back to the common room and left Draco in his room, before he went to talk with Hermione and Ginny. He told them what Dumbledore had said and explained to Ginny about the whole Veela thing. They then agreed to go back to bed since it was too early in the morning for them to be up on their free day.

Draco awoke four hours later feeling a pain in his chest. He looked around his dark room and started to remember what had happened. All he kept hearing in his head was Hermione’s voice and words.

Don’t talk to me

You couldn’t trust me

Didn’t think I should know

Thought we were friends

Draco felt anger towards Dumbledore as well as feeling hurt that his mate now hated him. He decided to act out on his anger first. He jumped out of his bed and walked over to his dresser. He threw all of its contents out before he sent it crashing to the ground.

Blancia, the owl he had given Hermione, flew in threw the window and break in his curtains. She perched herself on his chair waiting for him to acknowledge her.

Draco walked right by her and threw a book at his mirror. Blancia took this as her queue to leave; she flew over his desk where there was a neatly wrapped package. She picked up the package and left.

Draco continued on with his rampage. He destroyed everything that was in sight. He even broke both of his brooms, His Nimbus 2001 and Firebolt, in half. When there was nothing left to destroy, he threw himself onto his bed. He started to cry having Hermione’s words running threw his mind and feelings of failing his mate. He started concentrating on Hermione to check out the telepathy connection between them and to see if she had forgiven him.

The connection was weak, but he was able to tell what her general thoughts were. And she still hated him. He buried his face into his pillow and let out another sob.

“Hermione, would you please go check on him?” Blaise asked. They were at lunch and Draco still hadn’t come down. “The spell must have worn off by know. And Ginny and I can’t get close to him, only you can.”

“Draco can take care of himself. If he needs something I’m sure he’ll get it himself.” Hermione replied.

“You can’t stay mad at him forever.” Ginny tried to reason with her.

“I can. Blaise didn’t have a problem telling me and I have known him for less time than I’ve known Draco,” Hermione said before she left the Great hall.

Draco had spent the whole day being miserable. He kept himself locked up in his room. He hadn’t eaten anything all day. This combined with being hit by three sleeping spells, trashing a whole room, and crying for hours had taken a toll on him.

He was exhausted. His head hurt from all the crying. His stomach was begging him for food. And he had scratches all over his hands and arms from the broken furniture.

He looked at his clock and saw that it was past curfew. “That’s good,” he thought, “no one will be able to see me in this state.

Hermione was walking by herself down the long corridor. It was 11:00 and she was doing her rounds. She let out a big sigh; she had so much to think about.

The smallest of her problems was the second gift from her admirer. He had given her a silver necklace with a dragon pendent. But there was no note accompanying it and she knew there was more to the necklace. But with out the note she wouldn’t be able to figure out what it is.

But her biggest and most current problem was Draco. She was having a battle with herself. One voice told her that telling someone you are a Veela is a big thing and maybe Draco wasn’t ready for that yet. While the other voice in her head was telling her that if Blaise could do it so could Draco.

By this time Hermione was walking down the stairs in front of the Great Hall. She wasn’t paying attention, so when she turned around she thought she saw a shadow by the entrance door. Then all went black….

Draco had just made it out of the common room. It had taken him half an hour just to make it to the door. He was starting to regret starting this trip. All of a sudden Draco felt fear and a pain in his chest. When he close his eyes he saw a blinding white light…..
