“HERMIONE!” Mr. Granger yelled angrily.
Hermione cautiously went downstairs. “Y-yeah, dad?” She stuttered.
“WHY DIDN’T YOU WASH THE DISHES?”
“I-I didn’t know I h-had to,” Hermione replied nervously.
His face turned into a smile. “I’m just joking with you, Hermione.”
Hermione let out a sigh of relief and smiled. “Dad, don’t ever scare me like that!”
“Ah, I thought it would be fun,” Mr. Granger said. “Come on. Give me a hug,” He put his arms out. Hermione walked to him and hugged him.
“I’m gwoing to go to bed. I’m going back to Hogwarts tomorrow,”
“Okay, run along now!”
“Good night, dad,” Hermione said as she went upstairs.
Hermione woke up.
She brushed her teeth, took a shower, and put on a long, light blue shirt, dark blue jeans, and a silver belt hung loosely around her hips. She wore her hair in a ponytail with strands of her hanging on the side of her face.
She went downstairs and found her mum putting breakfast on the table, and found her dad reading the newspaper.
“Good morning!” Hermione said.
Mr. Granger put down his newspaper. “Good morning, Hermione!”
“Good morning, Hermione dear! Oh, breakfast is ready!” Mrs. Granger said.
Mr. Granger put his newspaper on a table in the living room and went into the kitchen and sat down. Hermione sat down and put some pancakes, bacon, and sausage onto her plate and started eating.
After breakfast was over, Hermione started helping her mum with the dishes. Mrs. Granger washed, Hermione dried. They soon finished.
“Okay, well, I’m going to go upstairs and see if I packed everything,” Hermione was on her way to her room, when she found a note on the floor by the stairs. She picked it up.
‘I shouldn’t be doing this, but this handwriting looks so familiar, and it’s not mum or dad’s…’ Hermione thought. She read the letter.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Granger,
You may not know me, but I have heard from Hermione Granger that Mr. Granger gets a little…mad when Hermione does the littlest things…even if they Hermione Granger did do them by mistake. I would like to ask you to lighten up. Mr. Granger, try to control yourself when you get mad. And Mrs. Granger, please try to calm Mr. Granger down when he can’t. Thank you.
She folded the letter and put it in her pocket. ‘That handwriting looks so familiar.’
Hermione walked upstairs and made sure she packed everything.
Then, she noticed the letter from Malfoy on her desk. She went over to get it and read it again.
‘Wait…’ She took out the letter from her pocket and held one letter in one hand and the other letter in the other. She compared the handwriting. ‘MALFOY?!’
“Bye mum!” Hermione hugged her mum. “Bye dad!” Hermione hugged her dad. “Bye Carly!” She hugged Carly. “I love all of you!”
When she arrived at Hogwarts, she went to the Gryffindor common room and into the girls’ dormitory to put her stuff down. Then, she went back into the Gryffindor common room and saw Harry, Ron, and Ginny come in.
“Harry! Ron! Ginny!” Hermione yelled when she saw them.
“Hermione!” They all said and went up to hug her.
“Oh, I missed you guys! Even though I was only gone for four days,”
“We missed you too, Hermione,” Ginny said.
“So, what happened while I was gone?”
“Not much, really. We had lots of fun annoying Malfoy, though,” Ginny answered.
“Oh yeah. Malfoy sent me a letter,” Hermione said.
“Really?” Harry asked.
“Why?” Ron asked surprised.
“Are you serious?” Ginny said.
“Yes, because he had no one to talk to. I wrote him back. He said that Zabini is being an ass, Parkinson is just how she usually is, and Crabbe and Goyle…well, yeah,” Hermione explained.
“Very interesting,” Ginny said.
“If he does anything to you, come straight to us right away!” Harry and Ron said at the same time.
Hermione and Ginny laughed.
“You guys are becoming more like each other everyday,” Hermione said. “I’ll see you guys later. I’m just going to go for a walk or something.”
“M’kay. See you later,” Ginny said.
“See ya,” Harry and Ron said.
Hermione walked out of the portrait hole, and went down the Grand Staircase.
‘Malfoy, Malfoy, where are you?…’ Hermione wondered. Then, she found him walking into the library. ‘There.’ She walked over to him and grabbed his arm.
Malfoy looked at Hermione. “What?”
“Talk to me. Now,” Hermione demanded.
“About what?” He asked confused.
“Let’s go outside,” She pulled him and they both went outside.
“Now what the hell do you want?”
“You sent a letter to my mum and dad?” Hermione asked.
“Uh…why would I send a letter to your…mum and dad?”
Hermione gave him that ‘I-know-you’re-lying look.’
“Okay, so I might have. So?”
“I dunno. Felt like it. Was bored. I do whatever I want to do, so don’t question it. So, shouldn’t you be happy that your dad has lightened up?”
“Uh, yeah! I’m actually really happy,” Hermione said. “But out of all people, you’re the one who made it happen. Why?”
“Don’t question what I do,” Malfoy said. “So, can I go now?” He was about to turn around and go back inside when Hermione grabbed his arm again.
“Oh, come on. Why?”
“I just said why! Because I felt like it!”
Hermione let go of his arm and sighed. “Okay, okay.” ‘I think I know the reason why, I just want you to admit it.’ She mumbled to herself.
She looked up at him. “What?” Hermione asked.
“What did you just mumble to yourself about?”
Malfoy turned around and started walking back to the castle.
Hermione quickly walked ahead of him. “Well, who said that purebloods can’t like mudbloods?”
“What?!” He said surprised. Hermione turned around.
“Oh, come on, Malfoy,” She turned back around and started walking to the castle.
That’s it. She is now really annoying me… “Mudblood, just shut up, okay? Shut up!”
Hermione sighed. “Well, I guess being the bookworm was a whole lot easier to deal with.” She mumbled, hoping Malfoy didn’t hear.
Hermione walked inside followed by Malfoy. “Time to read a book, study, do homework, extra credit, and…help people with homework.” She said using her fingers. “Back…to the know-it-all mudblood.” She sighed. She took out a Potions book and started reading it. That’s the key to telling that she’s going to be helping people with homework today. Then, Parvati walked up to her.
‘What the - ?’ Malfoy thought.
“Hermione! Can you help me with my Potions homework? Snape gave is loads of it!”
“Sure,” Hermione replied. “Just meet me in the library in…five minutes.”
“Okay! Thanks so much, Hermione!”
“No problem,” Hermione smiled.
Parvati walked away. Hermione continued her way to the library, reading her Potions book while watching where she was going.
Somewhere behind Hermione…
“You still fancy her? I thought you were over liking Hermione, Ron!” Harry said.
“I say things I don’t mean, okay?”
“Well, she’s right there, so just ask her to help you with her homework or something and talk to her then,”
“All right,” He walked over to Hermione.
“Hey, Hermione, can you help me with my Herbology homework? I really don’t get it.“ Ron asked.
“Yeah, meet me in the library in 20 minutes,” Hermione said.
“Thanks,” He walked away.
Then, Malfoy walked up to her from behind her, grabbed her shoulder and turned her around. “What the hell are you doing?”
Hermione raised an eyebrow. “Going to the library, reading a Potions book, and about to help Parvati with her homework…” She explained. “And speaking of that, I have to go. Meeting her in two minutes.” She turned around and started to walk down. Then, she turned back around. “And, going back to the bookworm.” She turned back around and walked into the library, finding Parvati at a random table.
“Hey,” Hermione greeted. “What did you need help on?”
“Questions…2, 3, 6, 9, and…23,” Parvati replied.
“Okay, for question 2, all you need to do is…”
“Thanks Hermione! Oh! And by the way, I love your outfit! Come with me to Hogsmeade tomorrow to pick out some clothes?” Parvati asked.
“Uh, sure. I guess,” Hermione replied.
“Okay! Padma, Ginny, and Lavender are coming too, by the way,” Parvati added.
“Okay then. I’ll see you tomorrow,”
“At 3:30 in the common room tomorrow,”
“Okay, see you then,”
“Bye!” Parvati waved and walked out of the library.
Ron walked into the library and found Hermione getting her Herbology stuff out.
“Oh! Hey Ron!” Hermione greeted.
“H--hey Hermione,” Ron walked over to the table she was at and sat down next to her.
“Okay, so what did you need help with?” Hermione asked, all settled.
Ron took out his Herbology notebook and turned to the most recent page of his homework.
“Uh…well…” he kept on turning pages.
“Well, looks like you completed the homework…then how come you asked me to help you?”
“Uh…because…I just wanted to…talk,” Ron said unsurely.
“Well, we could’ve just talked in the common room or when we met or something. We could talk all the time. You’re my best friend, Ron. I’m here when you need to talk,” Hermione explained. “So…what’d you want to talk about?”
“Uh…look…I kind of…umm…like you?” Ron said slowly.
“Y-you do? You still do?” Hermione asked.
Hermione opened her mouth, but no words came out.
“Ron,” she said softly. “I-I’m sorry, but I…don’t,” Hermione said, squeezing her robe.
“Oh, yeah. That’s fine. I’ll just go and leave now then,” He stood up and started walking out.
“Wait, Ron,” She called out.
He turned back around. “Never mind, Hermione. Just…pretend that this conversation never happened.” He walked out of the library.
‘Oh great,’ Hermione thought. She gathered her books and walked out of the library, ignoring Malfoy who never took his eyes off her as she walked out. ‘Great. He’s like stalking me!’ Hermione sighed. ‘I think I’m just going to go to sleep.’ So, she walked up the Grand Staircase, into Gryffindor Tower, into the common room, to the girls’ dormitory, changed to her pajamas, and went to sleep.
