God broke the mold,
When he made this one I know
She's breathtaking but so much more
She walks in the room, your loves closed
Making you never want to breathe again.

Sirius’ breath stopped. Suddenly, the whole world tuned out, became dim and blurry. All that he saw shining and clearly was the red haired girl passing the corridor. She had the most wonderful emerald eyes that anyone could ever possess. She was beauty, a wonder. She outshone every girl in the school.

She was Lily Evans.

Why did he get fireworks inside his body every time she passed? How come she gave him the butterflies every time she smiled warmly at him? How come every time she shook his hand, her touch sent static up his spine?

He was in love. To be more specific, he was in love with her.

Lily Evans. The girl with flaming red hair and emerald green eyes.

Her boyfriend has got so much dough
So much ice his neck and wrist froze
Is he faithful to her? Hell no
But she chose to be with him, shorty

Tell me is the money worth your soul
Tell me what's the reason that you hold on
When you know that dude has a whole wall of 'em just like you

“Damn,” he usually thought while trying to sleep. “Damn him and his precious money! Damn love! Why is it Lily I need to love? Why?”

He’d think about it, cursing, and then came another thought, seeped through his brain. “Why does she like him?”

Nightfall. Sirius crept out of the castle and walked to Great Lake. He sat down near the shore, took his shoes and socks off, and dipped his feet into the cool water. He let out of sigh of relief, letting out all the frustration inside him. But it didn’t last.

Of course it wouldn’t. He was out here to think about it, and it kept coming back to him. Finally he stood up hastily, cutting his feet slightly on the rocks. “Damn you James Potter, damn you!” he screamed furiously into the wind of night.

The darkness made no reply. It merely remained still, watching him, and consuming him into its depth. He crumpled to the ground, buried his face in his hands, and began to sob. He was just another extra in life, a person whose part was merely to pass by. He was nothing to beautiful, red haired, green eyed Lily Evans.

Lily Evans.

The name rang in his head.

Lily Evans.

The red haired girl.

Lily Evans.

Beautiful emerald green eyes.

And girl you're just way too fine
Got be treated as one of a kind
Girl use your mind
Don’t be just another dime

“Damn her,” Sirius muttered. “Damn her for being so damn beautiful. Damn her for not seeing that James has a bunch of pretties like you. He ain’t faithful.”

Sirius realized it wasn’t only anger that he felt. It was pity. Pity for money blinded Lily Evans. Her financial problems were not so good, being that she and her family had recently been evicted from their home. She was desperate, he realized, getting up again.

Because

I can't take
Seeing you with him
'Cuz I know exactly what you'll be,
In his gallery
It's just not fair
And it's tearing me apart
You're just another priceless work of art
In his gallery

The next day. It was hard for him to face James in the eye, hard to talk in a comfortable manner. Remus was too busy for me, and Peter wasn’t even an option, adding on that he’s been acting strange lately. Nope, he was on his own, trying to clear her eyes to see that she was just one of the many beauties James was going out with. She was just another girl in his collection.

“Is anything wrong Sirius?” James asked with concern as he put down his forkful of eggs. “You don’t look so well.”

“Of course I don’t you stupid bastard,” Sirius snarled silently in his mind. “You cheatin’ on her is something that I can just let go?”

Sirius just shook his head, picked up some bacon, and chewed on it dully. He tasted nothing, for he was too busy thinking. Finally he just got up, muttered goodbye, and exited the Great Hall. Not watching where he was going though, he bumped straight into her.

Lily Evans.

‘Damn it,’ he thought as he rubbed his sore head. But his heart was sorer than his head, he knew.

“Hello,” he muttered in a low voice, unable to look her in the eye.

Lily smiled and replied, “Hey Sirius. Sorry for bumping into you, I just didn’t watch where I was going!”

“Nah, it was me,” he mumbled. “Are you okay?”

“Of course I am,” Lily said with a tone of cheerfulness and something he couldn’t figure out.

Her face looked strange. In fact…

“Have you been crying Evans?” he asked curiously.

“N-no,” Lily replied nervously. “Why would you think that? Now, shall we get back to the Great Hall?”

“Um, sure,” he said, shrugging his shoulders.

With dread, he followed her into the room, where friends greeted Lily with smiles and waves. She sat down next to James and began to spread a piece of bread with jelly as Sirius sat down across from them. Just then, another girl with dark wavy hair, attractive indeed, came over and slid between James and Lily. “Hello Potter,” she said in a sexy voice and began to message his back. “How are you? Wasn’t last night wonderful?”

Lily lowered her eyes and refused to look up as she roughly bit off a piece of the bread.

She's so confused
She knows she deserves more
Someone who will love and adore
But his money's hard to ignore
She really doesn't know what to do.

James merely smiled and said, “Dear, let’s not talk about it now, shall we? My dear Evans here is delicately emotional, see. It’ll upset her.”

Sirius gritted his teeth, and gripped his seat tightly so that he wouldn’t jump at him. What had his best friend turned into? In his first year, he was the carefree, nice guy who didn’t give a thought to money. What’s this now?

“Alright,” she sighed, getting up. “Just remember.”

She gave him a wink and walked away, shaking her hips so that James could stare and smile. Lily said in a strange voice, “I need to go,” grabbed her things and dashed out of the hall. Sirius got up and said, “I need to go to. See you,” and ran out the hall.

He found her crying outside, and Sirius came over to her. “Lily, are you okay?”

Lily smiled slightly as she immediately tried to hide her tears. “Funny, you asked me that before. We bumped into each other.”

“That was physically,” Sirius said. He gulped before saying, “Are you okay emotionally?”

“Sure I am,” Lily answered, turning around to face him. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Isn’t the answer obvious?” Sirius asked. “It’s James.”

“No it isn’t!” Lily said defensively. “He’s nice to me, why should I hate him?”

“He isn’t faithful,” Sirius replied quietly. “Why are you holding onto him? He doesn’t like you, he likes your beauty, that’s all.”

Girl it's just a matter of time
Before he finds another more fine
After he's done dulling your shine
You're out the door and he's through with you.

“No, you’re wrong!” she cried. “You’re lying! He’s wonderful! The girl just gave him a love potion, that’s all! Stop accusing him like that!”

“Evans, listen,” Sirius said pleadingly. “C’mon, are you telling me that his money is more important that love?”

Tell me is the money worth your soul
Tell me what's the reason that you hold on,
When you know that dude has a whole wall of 'em just like you
And girl you're just way too fine
Gotta be treated as one of a kind
Girl use your mind
Don't be just another dime.

“IT’S NOT THAT!” she shouted through tears. “LEAVE ME ALONE! IT’S NOT TRUE!”

She ran away, her cries becoming more distant until he couldn’t hear them anymore. Sirius sighed and leaned against the wall. It broke his heart to see her deny that it was James that caused her pain inside her heart.

He couldn’t bare it. James Potter was just an idiot, rich guy, a jerk. And he was using innocent Lily Evans.

He went back to the common room and sighed, deciding to skip first period. The potion’s master would be furious, but at the moment, it didn’t matter what anyone else felt. He was tired, and his patience was thinning. It was harder to hold back the monster of hatred inside him every time he saw Lily in pain because of James.

You're a masterpiece
I know that he
Can't appreciate your beauty
Don't let him cheapen you
He don't see you like I do
Beautiful not just for show
Time that someone let you know

She was beautiful. That was why James wanted her. She had beauty. That was all. She was the masterpiece of all the other girls in his collection. James wanted to show her off to everyone, and wanted to prove he was the hottest guy in the world.

Lily Evans.

Beautiful and wonderful.

I can't take
Seeing you with him
'Cuz I know exactly what you'll be
