Chapter 19- Wild as the Wind.

“Know what?” James Potter said to himself, leaning back in his chair. “I have always wondered the point of exams…like we spend a whole seven years building up to a few exams…those few hours determines our whole future and I personally-“

“James?” Lily interrupted.

James stopped staring at the ceiling to look at her, quill poised above her book and a not at all pleased look on her face. “Mmmmm?” He murmured with a cheeky grin.

“I'm trying to read this.” She whispered.

James smiled sheepishly. “Sorry. Guess I’m not the best study partner. But I am right, aren’t I?”

Lily sighed. “How is it you have time to think about all that but you can't concentrate on charms for more than a minute?”

James shrugged. “It’s charms. I can't help it if my mind wanders. Where do you think the others are?”

“Aren’t you at all concerned about the exams?”

James shrugged again. “They are too far away to worry.”

“James! They’re only two weeks away!”

James nodded “That’s right. Two whole weeks! So you wanna go do something else?”

Lily shook her head. “You are amazing you know that?”

“Why thank you.”

“You have the attention span of a three year old.” Lily said swatting him with a piece of rolled up parchment.

“I’ve heard worse compliments.”

Lily could only shake her head again as she picked up her quill to finish her sentence. With a sigh James followed suit.

Less than a minute later he dropped his quill again. “You know what I just realised?”

Lily looked up at him knowing this would not be school related.

“Throughout this whole year you still haven’t been to Hogsmeade with me.” He said triumphantly.

Lily frowned. “I haven’t?”

“Nope.” James said with a shake of his head. “Not once.”

“Interesting. Sooo… does that mean you are asking?” Lily said coyly.

“Do you want me to?” James answered back.

Lily grinned.

“Should I take that as a yes?” James said matching her grin. Lily didn’t answer but leaned closer, an expectant look on her face.

James smirked. “Lily Evans, I am asking one last time, pleading with you. Begging you! For the love of Merlin, please! – Come to Hogsmeade with me?”

Lily laughed. “What would you actually do if I said no?”

“Cry.” James said with a straight face. “What do you say?”

“Yes. Just because it is the last Hogsmeade ever.” She told him shuffling her papers around.

James grinned. “That’s good enough for me!” He cried jumping up on the table. “Attention everyone. I would like to announce – “

“James Potter! Sit down!” Lily commanded.

“ – that,” James continued, “today is one for the history books. Lily Evans has finally – Finally! Said yes!” He concluded raising both hands in the air.

People in the common room looked from him standing on the table to Lily, who was shaking with laughter and currently turning a nice red colour, and burst into applause.

James seeing as it was his moment of glory took a bow. Then another and finally jumped off the table to randomly shake hands and hug his fellow Gryffindor’s.

Lily sat and waited patiently for him to return, in the mean time taking down about half a page of notes from her charms book. He sat down with a satisfied sigh, beaming at her. Leaning forward he kissed her noisily on the cheek before sitting back in his chair.

“So where were we?”

“Page Seventy three.” Lily answered still shaking her head in amusement as James settled back down to study.

The perfect way to cast the patronus charm, Lily read before she heard James sigh. She looked up to see him staring at her, his head resting on one hand.

“What?” Lily asked. James looked startled for a moment. “Why are you staring at me?”

“You’re beautiful, you know that?”

Lily smiled. “Charms.” She said pointedly.

“Right, charms.

Less than a minute later she looked up to see James in exactly the same position as before. “James.” She whined playfully. “This isn’t helping me get any work done.”

“I’m sorry. I can't help it! You are by far more interesting than charms. “You are fascinating to watch work.”

Lily shot him a weird look before returning once more to her homework.

(A/N adapted from Bon Jovi’s song ‘You Had Me From Hello.’)
“As you think, you twirl your hair, absentmindedly
You're insecure about the way you are
But you can't do nothing wrong

To me you look so beautiful when you concentrate like that
Its half past eight its getting late
Yet I know you want to stay.

Sitting here, I’m watching you
Like I have a thousand times
Thinking back it took one breath
One word to change my life

The first time I saw you it felt like nothing else
If I never told you I just want you to know
You had me from hello

When you walk into a crowded room it's like we're all alone
Other people may try to kidnap my attention
You just smile and steal the show

When you came to me and took my hand
And we were dancing slow
To have you in my arms was right, and to whisper way down low…

From the first time I saw you it felt like nothing else
If I never told you I just want you to know
You had me from hello ”

Lily looked up sharply. “Did you say something?”

James shook his head. “Nah, nothing really.” He said with a smile. “Why? Are you trying to distract me?”

As the date for the final Hogsmeade trip approached, the excitement around Hogwarts grew. Most students saw it as a much needed break from revision for exams and as the final trip it was the seventh years nostalgic duty to go.

The six Gryffindor’s made their way slowly down the road to Hogsmeade, they had, of course, paired off but were still walking as a group.

“Well don’t I just feel like the… seventh wheel,” came a cheerful voice from behind them. They all turned to see Wren grinning from ear to ear at her little joke.

“Wrennie!” Sirius exclaimed, rushing over to give her a hug, “I haven’t seen you in ages! What’s been going on kiddo?”

“Oh, you know the normal. Finding everything out about you guys from the grapevine… although in your cases,” Wren pointed at James and Lily as they continued walking, “I knew it would happen eventually.”

“And all thanks to me, isn’t that right Prongsie?” Sirius said putting his arm around James and smiling. James nodded and rolled his eyes.

“Hang on, wait! Sirius it wasn’t all you!” Remus stated. Wren looked from Sirius to Remus then back to Sirius.

“What?" Wren asked.

Holly cleared her throat, “Let’s make this simple – no Sirius, you are not doing the explaining,” she added when Sirius opened his mouth to protest against Holly explaining. Holly ignored him plunging into the twisted tale which Sirius still took full credit for. “Then Sirius – “

“Being the genius I am – “

“Shh! Anyway, Sirius managed to somehow convince Lily to t – “

“Reverse psychology, Holly. I do believe it’s called reverse psychology.”

“Quit interrupting,” Holly playfully swatted Sirius on the arm. “Well this is the end result of Sirius’ so called ‘reverse psychology’.” Holly finished gesturing to James and Lily. James put his arm around a slightly blushing Lily, squeezing her close to him.

“That’s so cute!” Wren squealed, just as they entered Hogsmeade, “Well, I’m meeting some friends at the Three Broomsticks. So I guess I’ll see you all later. Bye!”

“Bye!” They called as they continued to walk.

“So, where do we want t – “

“Well, well, well, what do we have here? Evans finally gave in! Wow, I’m shocked!” Ruby was rudely interrupted by the appearance of Miranda.

“Can’t you just leave us be?” Holly asked, glaring at Miranda. Miranda smiled her sickly sweet smile at Holly before turning to James and Lily.

“I give it a week.” With that she sauntered away down the main street of Hogsmeade.

“She has got to be the biggest bitch ever! I cant stand her.” Holly was fuming, Sirius grabbed her hand to try to calm her down.

“Let’s go get a butterbeer shall we?” Sirius suggested. All six of them made their way to the Three Broomsticks, where they found a booth.

“What can I get you, dears?”

“Rosmerta, my dear,” James began, taking Madame Rosmerta’s hand, “We’ll have the usual.”

Madame Rosmerta took her hand back, “So that’s a butterbeer each and a shot of fire whiskey each for you two gentlemen,” she said pointing at James and Sirius, who nodded enthusiastically.

“Fire whiskey?” Lily glanced over at James questioningly after Madame Rosmerta had gone to get their order, he just smirked and kissed her on the cheek. Their drinks came about a minute later.

The girls watched as James and Sirius clinked their shots, then drank them. Remus, who was used to this by now just shook his head, “Just ‘cause you’re of age…”

Sirius was half way through his butterbeer when he hit himself on the forehead, “Shit! I, err… I’ll be right back… in like ten minutes. I have to go pick something up. See you.” With out another word, he was out the door.

“What was that about?” Holly asked, but received blank looks.

“What is he doing?”

“Holly, we know as much as you… oh my god, he didn’t!” James cried, mouth agape. He, along with Lily, Remus, Ruby and Holly were watching as Sirius rode, that’s right, rode down the street towards them.

“Sirius, what in the name of Merlin is that contraption?” Remus cried as Lily and Ruby looked at Holly. She stood there not knowing what to say. She looked Sirius up and down as he revved the engine of his new motorbike, his face expressionless underneath the aviator shades he wore.

With a nod of his head he gestured for Holly to come closer. Aware that they were beginning to draw a crowd, Holly, with a glance back at her friends moved towards him her hand covering her mouth.

Sirius, never shy of attention, took no notice of the crowd as he whipped off the shades, ran his hand through his hair in true James Potter style and winked at her.

“Hey baby, wanna go for a ride.” He asked in a low voice.

Holly, giggling too much to answer, really didn’t need to be told twice. Taking his glasses from his hand she slipped them on before jumping on behind him and wrapping her arms around his waist. Sirius revved the bike and off they sped down the street, but not for long… sooner than Holly realised they were in the air, flying over Hogwarts.

Holly squealed. “This has to be illegal right?” She yelled over the sound of the engine. Sirius only laughed.

“You’re wild!” She screamed tightening her grip on him.

Sirius turned to grin at her. “Hold on.” He said as he turned midair and began the descent back to the ground.

They landed with a soft thump and a peal of laughter from Holly. Sirius jumped off the bike and Holly swung one leg around so she was facing him.

Flicking the collar of his jacket up he asked, “Do I look like a cool rider?” He whispered in the same low voice.

“I can’t believe you heard that conversation.” Holly laughed. Sirius smirked sliding the glasses from her face carefully and tucking one arm of them into the neck of his shirt.

Holly shook her head pulling him closer. “Say something!” She laughed. “Well?”

Sirius smirked. “Well what?” He said in a low voice his face inches away from hers.

Holly shivered. Sirius seeing this finally cracked a real smile. “You really do go for the dark and mysterious don’t you?”

Holly didn’t know what to say but could feel herself blushing. “So all this to make fun of me?”

“Can’t we think of it as more to impress you?”

Holly laughed again jumping off the bike to wrap her arms around his neck. “You are crazy.” Sirius grinned at her and in one swift motion unhooked her arms from his neck and turned her in a dip.

(A/N: All Shook Up, by Elvis Presley.)
“Oh well I bless my soul
What's wrong with me?” He said releasing her into a spin. With a giggle she sat back on the bike as he began to do the classic Elvis leg wobble.
”I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy tree
My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug
I'm in love,” He sang pointing at her.
”I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!”

Holly: ”My hands are shaky and my knees are weak
I can't seem to stand on my own two feet
Who do you thank when you have such luck?
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!”

“Please don't ask me what's on my mind” He sang pulling her back up as they began to (swing?) dance to their song, moves they both somehow knew.
”I'm a little mixed up, but I'm feelin' fine
When I'm near that girl that I love best
My heart beats so it scares me to death!”

She touched my hand what a chill I got
Your lips are like a volcano that's hot
I'm proud to say You’re my buttercup
I'm in love
I'm all shook up”

Holly giggled, joining in: “Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!”

Both: “My tongue gets tied when I try to speak
My insides shake like a leaf on a tree
There's only one cure for this body of mine
That's to have the girl(guy) that I love so fine!”

You touched my hand what a chill I got
Your lips are like a volcano that's hot
I'm proud to say You’re my buttercup
I'm in love
I'm all shook up
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!
Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!
I’m all shook up!”

Holly laughed as Sirius grabbed her around the waist and swung her in circle.

Just then their friends finally made it to the top of the hill, James in the lead. “Oh my God. That thing is amazing! Can I have a go?” He gasped doubling over to catch his breath.

Lily and Ruby followed Still shaking their heads. “I can't believe you actually went devil in a dark disguise for her!” Lily laughed.

“Oh yeah. He's as wild as the wind.” Holly said pushing him playfully.

“Just call me hell on wheels.” Sirius growled as the four of them laughed.

Remus and James looked at each other. “Huh?!”
