Chapter 13 - Results, Nerves and News

The sun shone through Ginny and Hermione's dormitory, splitting the shadows like a knife. Ginny groaned and rolled over in her bed, digging her delicate face even further into the pillows. Hermione on the other hand was wide-awake. She had been for the last half an hour or so. One thought had been running through her head, and it wasn't the results of the talent show auditions like many other girls at this time. It was of her family. She couldn't believe that she had agreed to go to the Zabini Manor for the weekend. She had agreed without even knowing who was going to be there. For all she knew there could be Zabini junior, Ferret, Ferret's family and other friend of the family of whom she knew she wouldn't get along with. She couldn't help but think about it. She had asked Ginny to join her who reluctantly accepted. Sure, they were friends, but who would honestly happily give up their weekend to spend it with people you didn't know and would probably detest if you did? Well she had said yes, and that was the main thing.

Hermione rolled over onto her side and looked at her alarm clock. It was only 07:00. She had Potions first with the Slytherins and she was not looking forward to. Blaise and Malfoy were both in that class and she really couldn't handle the thought of having to face them. Stretching, she sat up in bed and looked around. It was Wednesday morning and her second day of being sixteen. She pulled herself out of bed and forced herself into the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her black ringlets fell around her slightly tanned face. In a way she wished she could have her old fuzzy hair back and her paler skin. Her new looks were a constant reminder of her new family.

By 07:30, Hermione was dressed in a pair of cut off jeans, a black and red rock t-shirt and black converse shoes. She looked at Ginny who still hadn't budged from her position in bed. Smiling slightly, Hermione left her dorm and made her way into the common room. Thankfully, no one else was there. She fell down on to one of the big red plush chairs and picked up her book 'Magic in America' that Harry had given her. She opened it and began to read. Fifteen minutes later, at a quarter to eight, she did not hear anybody enter the common room. She was so immersed in her book that everything else was a different world at that moment in time.

Blaise looked down at her, not quite sure what emotion he was feeling. Was it love, or hate, or just plain confusion? He really couldn't quite place it. He thanked God silently for she had not heard him enter. He wasn't ready for the awkward silences that were going to come when they did have to come to terms with the fact that they were now brother and sister. He silently made his way down the stairs and sat in one of the green plush chairs. Thankfully, Hermione had once again not heard him. Blaise would never understand how someone could fall so deep into reading. He looked closely at his sister's tanned skin, which was the exact shade of his own. It felt extremely weird to be looking at Hermione 'Granger' and comparing himself to her in a brotherly fashion. Shrugging his shoulders, he stood up quietly and made his way to the Great Hall for an early Breakfast. He could really do with something to settle his stomach.

In The Great Hall

To Blaise's surprise, there were quite a number of people in the Great Hall already. He had completely forgotten that today was the day when everyone found out about the Talent Show results. Many girls were gossiping excitedly about the acts that were lined up. Others looked sadly down at their cereal, obviously not having qualified. Blaise hadn't even bothered to look at the sheet saying who had gotten in and who hadn't. He sat down quietly at the Slytherin table, trying not to attract any attention. He just wanted to be left alone to process his thoughts. No such luck! Pansy Parkinson had spotted him like a predator waiting to pounce. He sighed as she walked up to him.

"Hey Blaise! What's up?" She asked cheerily as she plunked herself down beside him.

"Uh nothing much Pansy. Just thinking, yah know?" He said wearily. Pansy grinned enthusiastically.

"Whatcha thinking?"

"About stuff."

"What stuff?"

"Personal stuff.

"Aw come one, you can tell me."

"No I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because it's personal."

"So..."

"Pansy, will you leave me alone?" Blaise snapped. Pansy looked at him, clearly offended, stood up and stalked off. Blaise breathed a sigh of relief. She was so annoying. He would rather be locked in the same room as a mountain troll than have to spend five minutes alone with her.

In The Common Room

Hermione looked down at her watch. She had been reading for a half an hour now. It was eight-o clock. She placed her book down and sat back in the chair. She really didn't know what to do. She would need to speak to Zab-Blaise soon. She couldn't avoid him forever. Besides, it looked like she was about to be stuck with him next weekend. No doubt their parents would want them both there to 'bond' and heaven forbid, if Malfoy was there, she might just kill herself. Well, at least she would have Ginny there to cheer her up. A door creaked, and Hermione looked up to see a tired looking Malfoy emerge from his dorm. It seemed as though he had had a rough night. Little did she know it was actually because of her that he was in this tired state. He had had numerous nightmares about her being the long lost Zabini twin. He had been waking up every half an hour with them. Upon seeing him, Hermione stood up briskly and made her way for the common room door. She really did not want to be in his company now, of any time.

Walking down the corridor, Hermione's heart stopped when she saw the Talent Show results on the wall. She had forgotten all about them. She rushed forward to read the results. They were as follows.

Hermione squealed in delight as she read her name. Quickly she read the note beneath the results.

We have included a closing act due to the difficult choice of having to choose an opening act. Thank you.

Grinning from ear to ear, Hermione could not wait to tell Ginny the good news. Little did she know, she had some very shocking news waiting for her also.

EXTRA NOTE - As most of you know, I now have a list of people who get emailed every time I update a story. If you would also like to be a part of it, you may leave your email address in a review if-you-wish. Also, if you have already given me your email, please do not repost it. I get so confused with all the double emails.
