A/N: Number 11, hope you’re all right with this story so far, sorry if I’ve disappointed you. And this isn’t going to be a quartet anymore, it’s a five part, it’s cause I have so many ideas in my head that I have to write them down! Anyway… on with the story, enjoy!

Chapter 11: Predicaments And Solutions

No, they didn’t have sex!

It was just a lot of kissing and expressing feelings and having fun under the sheets. They slept in each other’s arms and woke up in each other’s arms. And even when they got ready for the day ahead, it was total chaos!

They had five minutes to get down to the Hall and announce the plan of action, for Draco had tickled it out of Hermione the night before.

They ran down the corridors; holding hands, taking secret passage-ways to save time, the school hadn’t yet come into the open. This meant they could share a last minute kiss before the faces did show.

Hermione had a distinct feeling that this wasn’t the truth, but she felt that his kisses said his feelings out loud.

I don't want to be second best
Don't want to stand in line
Don't want to fall behind
Don't want to get caught out
Don't want to do without

Draco felt that she didn’t trust him. He wanted to tell her so badly that this was what made him feel so high, and his feelings for her were true. He kissed her again and then made their way into the Hall to prepare; still hand in hand.

And the lesson I must learn
Is that I've got to wait my turn

As the whole school entered the Great Hall, Hermione noticed that Harry was leading the whole procession, with Ron and Ginny by his side; Neville and Luna behind them.

“So what is to happen then?” Ginny asked in a shout.

“Here, I have a list,” Hermione began. “A list of people who I think are worthy of this situation we are in, and are probably willing to help everyone.”

“No classes will be held today, but years one to four will begin classes tomorrow. Years five onwards will be prone to revising in their common rooms owing to the fact they’re skilled enough to do so,” Draco explained.

“Will this list of people stay behind so we can talk about this situation,” Hermione began. “Harry Potter…” Harry stepped forward, a confused expression etched on to his face. “… Ginny Weasley and Ron Weasley,” she gulped then handed Draco the list.

“Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, Lavender Brown, Pansy Parkinson and Blaise Zabini,” he finished the list. A lot of muttering was embellished throughout the Hall, he cast nervous glances at the people’s names, hoping against all hope that their plan will work.

“Everyone else is dismissed,” Hermione called out. She quickly steadied herself by grabbing Draco’s hand as she saw the approaching people.

“Hurry up Granger, we haven’t got all day?” Pansy spat. Ginny giggled, but Draco cast them both disapproving stares.

Looks like I got to be hot and cold
I got to be taught and told
Got to be good as gold

“As the teachers are ill, we need substitutes ‘cause I feel that we can’t just toss the classes to one side and just have fun,” Hermione explained.

“I dunno, fun sounds like fun to me,” Blaise said with a wide grin. Everyone laughed at this, apart from Hermione who slapped Draco round the head so that he’d come back into the real world, hopefully.

“The younger students need help with their lessons, so here,” Draco threw them each a piece of parchment which a timetable had been written upon.

“What’re these for?” Harry asked, as his confused look expanded when he looked down at the schedule.

“Your classes, for each day of the week,” Hermione explained. “On the back you’ll find your night patrols, along with someone else.”

“Classes?” Ron gasped.

“Yep!” Draco expressed. “All of you are now Hogwarts Professors!”

“What?!” All of them yelled.

But perfectly honestly
I think it would be good for me
Coz it's a hindrance to my health
I'm a stranger to myself

“Draco and I,” began Hermione. “Are in charge; seen as we’re Head Boy and Girl, and we teach as well, but we need your help!”

“We looked through marks and grades and just picked the right people,” Draco explained.

“But Blaise and I aren’t teachers, we’re supervisors!” Pansy complained.

“In case of magic being used in the corridors and trouble amongst students. I hear Blaise makes good use of his First Aid skills,” Hermione winked his way and he blushed slightly.

“But we can’t do all this,” Lavender said. “What about our exams and study times?”

“You’ll find free lessons dotted about the place. You’re only teaching four year groups,” Hermione answered.

“So what lessons are we teaching then?” Ginny asked.

“Hmm,” Hermione ran her finger down the list. “I’m teaching Charms and Draco’s Potions.”

“Goody!” Ron cheered. “At least that one is out of the way!”

“You’re teaching Care of Magical Creatures, Ron,” Hermione said loudly.

“Oh fuck!”

“At least you only get to teach two years, look at all the free lessons you have!” Ginny complained.

“Lavender, you will be doing Divination, seems a lot of people took it this year,” Hermione said glumly, however, Lavender cheered and started dancing around the place. Hermione continued: “Gin, you’re teaching Transfiguration and Neville; Herbology.”

It had been weeks since Ginny had heard Hermione say her name to her face, her heart fluttered. “Luna, you’ll be doing Astronomy,” Hermione said. Luna smiled weakly and kept on staring at the floor. Her eyes looked blank and her face was white with patches of green in her cheeks.

“And Harry…”

“Defence Against the Dark Arts, right?” Harry interrupted.

Hermione nodded. “Best man for the job!” Draco spoke up. Harry smiled up at Draco.

“So what’s happened to the teachers then?” Lavender asked.

“We don’t know,” Draco lied. “They’re just really ill.”

“Speaking of ill… Blaise, Pansy, could you go up to the Hospital Wing and help Madam Pomfrey, she looks like she’s coming down with something,” Hermione instructed. They nodded and left in hushed conversation.

“Right, is everyone all right with these arrangements?” Draco questioned. Everyone nodded.

“First night patrol is Harry and me,” Hermione explained. “Oh yeah, of course, we’re able to use the staff room. You’re free to go now.” She watched as everyone else left and then she began to walk out of the Hall, but Draco caught up with her.

“Are you OK?” He asked nervously, taking her hand in his as they walked back to their common room.

“Do you think I should tell them about you and me?”

“What about you and me?”

“That…” She never considered them as a couple, what if Draco took it the wrong way if she thought they were. She looked into his blue eyes which, for their warmness made her shiver with fear.

Draco understood. “Do you fancy me?” Or maybe not!

“Why do you ask? Do you fancy me?”

“Me, fancy you? Ha! What a joke!” He laughed mirthlessly.

Hermione felt hurt; mind you, she thought it wouldn’t be true for them to be together. But he felt special towards her. “What would you do if I said, I do like you?” She pondered.

“Go high! Run around screaming!” He began to run around the corridor, waving his hands and screaming out loud.

Hermione laughed at his “high”. “For someone who doesn’t fancy me, you sure act like you do!”

“You’re so modest, ‘Mione!” he took her hand again and carried on walking. They didn’t realise that their hands were becoming quite warm, and sparks flied every time they looked into each other’s eyes.

Hermione rummaged through her trunk before she realised that she needed to be on patrol duty with Harry.

She found it; deep throughout all her clothes, the little crimson book she had taken out of the library, which was know overdue by so many days.

“Aren’t you supposed to be on night patrol with Potter?” Draco called from the bathroom as the hot water swam around his body.

“I’m going now,” she called back. She pocketed the little red book inside her robes, said a cheery bye to Draco and set off to meet Harry.

She walked slowly around the corridors, on the look out for her friend, but her eyes were now occupied on the book in her hands.

It was titled: “True Emotions and True Understandings”. Underneath the gold writing it said: “All you need to know about the true feelings of love.”

She sighed as she turned every page, quickly glancing at How to brew Love Potions and Knowing if his Heart is True and… there it was… page thirty-three: The Broken Heart Scar. The page title was: When Two Become One”. It was beautifully written, she nearly cried at some of the words.

“Hey Hermione!” Harry jumped out from behind a wall, making her jump out of her skin and drop the book.

“My God, Harry! You scared me!” She bent down to pick up the book but Harry got it first.

I don't have to raise my voice
Don't have to be underhand
Just got to understand
That it's gonna be up and down

He closed it to look at the title, he sniggered loudly. “What’re you reading this crap for?” He asked.

“Light reading,” she answered quickly.

“The last time you did a bit of “light reading”, we ended up being entangled in Devil’s Snare and playing real-live Wizard’s Chess. Tell me, now?”

It's gonna be lost and found
And I can't take to the sky
Before I like it on the ground

She snatched the book from him, but he caught her left hand. She screamed at the searing pain in her palm, and Harry noticed this and let go. She cradled her hand. “You’ve screamed like that before,” Harry said. “When your wand…”

“My wand hasn’t been working for weeks, and I kinda know why,” she explained and turned over her hand to show him her palm.

The scar was beating calmly as it tried to erode the pain away. It felt like her own heart, but that was beating away faster under her breast. Harry gasped. “Who did this to you?”

“Not who, but what. You can blame this piece of wood.” She tossed him the wand which she had lost trust in for over four months.

“Is that what happened when…?”

“Yes! But I think I understand it now. But I was hoping the other half would belong to someone other than…”

And I need to be patient
And I need to be brave
Need to discover
How I need to behave

“You mean, a guy has the other half, and you’re destined to be together?” He guessed. She shivered slightly at his approach. She still feared about how he knew such things when only half of the information was given.

She nodded. “But I don’t know how to tell him, he doesn’t like me in that way, but we seem really close.”

“Do you like this other guy?” Harry asked.

“Half of me does, but half of me doesn’t. Look, I’ll sort this all out, we need to start patrolling.” They began to walk, in pure silence. They walked for a couple of minutes, listening to the whistling wind with harsh hearing.

Then… “Does he know you have the other half?” Harry asked.

And I'll find out the answers
When I know what to ask
But I speak a different language
And everybody's speaking too fast

“Yeah. We’ve talked about it, but I said I’d read upon it then tell him what I find out. Anyway, what about you and Ginny, you guys still together?”

Harry’s face dropped. Hermione sensed his apprehension of not to tell her what had happened. “What’s wrong?” She asked, taking his hand; he relaxed slightly.

“I don’t think it’s working out between me and Gin. ‘Cause she’s not friends with you, it just doesn’t seem right. She even asked me to not go patrolling with you, how possessive is that?!”

“She cares for you. Like Ron cared for…” sShe stopped suddenly at the guilt that coursed through her veins.

“And like Neville cares for Luna? Please! She’s been edgy with him for days now!”

“Why? What’s wrong with her?”

“Dunno. She’s been ill, stress I think…”

“Doesn’t sound like Luna,” Hermione interrupted.

“I think I shouldn’t go out with Ginny anymore,” Harry continued.

“Why though? I see you guys when you’re together, you’re just, perfect. No matter how much I dislike Gin, I feel happy for her,” she explained.

“I’ve had feelings for someone else for sometime now, I’m confused, I don’t know what to do!”

“Calm down, Harry! You just need to think about this. Ginny is the girl you love most of all, right?”

“Yeah,” his confused look had appeared again.

“Do you love this other person?”

Harry looked at her strangely. Why didn’t she say girl? Did she suspect him of being gay or bisexual? “I’m confused,” said Harry. “About my feelings for this person. Yeah, I will think…”

They heard fast approaching footsteps. They whipped out their wands and scanned the surrounding area, looking for the rule breaker.

“It sounds like two of them,” Harry guessed. Hermione’s ears picked up the voices of the people. What seemed like a man, and a girl, they seemed to be in a hurry and out of breath.

“Lumos!” They both yelled. The wand-light shone upon two people coming round the corner. One with flaming red hair and the other, darkest of all blacks. It was Ginny, quickly followed by a harassed-looking Snape.

“What’re you two doing, wondering the corridors at night?” Snape questioned with an evil smirk.

“Patrolling,” Hermione smirked back. “Weren’t you listening to the speech Draco and I made, Severus?” Harry and Ginny gawped at her. But Harry kept his eyes on Snape with utter astonishment and utter loathing as to why he was still alive.

“Anyway,” Hermione continued. “what’re you doing out of bed?” She rounded on Ginny.

“I came looking for Harry,” she replied in truth. “But I received a letter from Luna, it’s important you two follow me… now!”

“What’s wrong with her?” Harry asked, still not taking his eyes off of Snape.

“I dunno, but she’s in the Hospital…”

“Why are you with her?” Hermione interrupted to ask Snape.

“Wanted to know why she was in such a hurry,” he answered.

Well I must be my own master
I've got to run a little faster
I need to know I'll last if a little

“Come on!” Ginny beckoned. Hermione and Harry followed, leaving Snape to patrol; to both Hermione’s and his dismay. They hurriedly ran up corridors to the Hospital Wing. When they reached it, they noticed that all the beds were empty.

Madam Pomfrey was comforting a shivering Luna, who had been crying for what seemed like hours. The matron, whom still looked quite ill, left when she saw them all at the door. They all rushed over to Luna’s side.

“Luna, hunny, what’s wrong?” Ginny asked sympathetically.

The blonde-haired girl looked up. Her eyes were bloodshot, her hair dishevelled and her skin was ghostly white. She wiped away her tears and gulped back her nervousness, to tell them that:

“I’m pregnant!” She said.
