Chapter two: Good news

Emily and her mother left home after five minutes. Emily’s mother drove and questions never ended in Emily’s head.

Emily and her mother finally arrived at a strange place. Rocks covered everywhere, there were no crops, no trees and no animals. There was no life at all. There was a cave.

Katie pointed at it, “Here!” she said as she walked towards it. Emily was going to object going there, but she didn’t. She just followed her mother. After walking long distances in the cave, they came to a blank wall ahead of them.

“Are you sure we’re in the right place?” asked Emily.

Her mother didn’t answer. She put her hand in her pocket and took out her wand. She muttered a spell. At first, nothing happened, but after a while, the wall vanished and a door stood in its place. Katie opened the door and walked in, “Come on, Emily” she called to her daughter from inside the room.

Emily entered the room although she was scared and confused at the same time. She wondered why they were here and what this strange place was. Was that a part of the magical world? She thought.

Professor McGonagall was in the room and an old man who Emily didn’t recognized. “Sit down, both of you.” said the old man.

Emily and her mother sat down and waited for the old man to speak.

“I’m Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts. We’d like to inform you that your daughter is going to Hogwarts” he looked at Emily who was staring him with a look of confusion.

“How is she going if she’s a squib?” asked Katie.

“Tell them, Minerva” said Dumbledore to McGonagall.

“It’s really weird, but she’s not” said McGonagall “She just changed to a witch mysteriously”

Emily and her mother stared at them.

“You may go” said Dumbledore “That’s what we wanted to tell you. We still don’t know how that happened, but it did. It’s never happened before. If we know anything, we’ll make sure to let you know. Please don’t tell anyone that she was a squib before. Changing a squib into a witch is against the law”.

“We won’t, don’t worry. Thank you” said Katie.

Emily and her mother left and the door changed to a wall again. On their way back home Emily felt confused but happy.

How could that happen? Could the wizard I met in my dreams do that? She asked herself.

By the time Emily arrived at her house, a letter was already on her room’s floor. She read it silently.

Albus Dumbledore
Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

she ran to her sister’s room in order to tell her the news.

She rushed into Aly’s room without knocking.

“Hey, haven’t you heard of knocking?” said Aly angrily.

“I’m going to Hogwarts, Alyson” said Emily happily.

“What? How?” asked Alyson.

“I don’t know, but I am”

“Congratulations” said Alyson happily as she hugged her sister “We’re going to the Diagon Alley next week to buy our school supplies. You’re coming?”

“Of course YES!!” replied Emily who couldn’t believe herself.

Due to the sudden change of her mood, she felt so tired, so she went to sleep. She met the same wizard she’s seen in her last dream.

“Now, you’ve got what you want?” he asked her.

“Yes, yes, Thank you” she replied to him.

She didn’t really like him although she’s never seen his face before.

“All you have to do now is do what I ask you for. That’s our deal.” He said coldly.

“I’ll do anything” she replied.

“All right then, see you there” he said.

“There where?” she asked but he’d disappeared and she woke up from her dream.

She was really confused about the wizard. She felt like she’d seen him
before. She sat on her bed and cleared her head.

Emily wondered why weird things were happening. Was her life going to change? What did that wizard want? Why did he appear in her dreams? Was she imagining things? Or was it true? Why was she a squib at first? And how did that suddenly change? Why does she feel that something horrible was going to happen?

Questions never stopped in her head for a whole week.
