I do not own H.P if I did I would not be putting this on here, I would be getting it published. The plot belongs to me, the rest belongs to J.K they are her characters, there are no oc’s, I have just put R.A.B across how I want him to be put across ok
He Apparated on the doorstep of number twelve Grimmauld Place. He rang the doorbell and the door opened immediately.
"You're five minutes late, what...?"
"It doesn't matter, I'm here now."
"But what's all this about?"
"NOT out here!"
"Right yes, come in," said the woman quickly "Your Father's waiting in the kitchen."
He closed the door behind himself and followed his mother down into the basement kitchen. His Father was sitting at the table. The house elf Kreacher was taking plates out of the dresser and setting the table, he was muttering to himself.
"Come back at last, Kreacher wonders what he wants; his owl wasn’t very explicit..."
"Don't we all Kreacher," snapped the man "Now stop muttering and get on with the job!" His mother sat down next to his father who said "What is it son, what's wrong? Your owl didn't explain what you wanted."
He sat down opposite his father. "I didn't want to give anything away in case it was intercepted, I didn't want to put you in danger..." He took a deep breath. "I..." He looked into his father’s old wrinkled face and at the piercing blue eyes both he and his brother had inherited. "I need you to hide something for me..."
He stood up
"You're not staying?" Asked his mother disappointedly.
"I would if I could you know that, but it's too dangerous, if Voldemort suspects..." His mother gasped and his father slammed his fist on the table "I'm not scared, of him or his name and I never will be."
"I know son and you must do what you think is best, but does it have to be this way?"
"You know it does Dad, he can't carry on doing this. I can't stop him completely, but I can help."
"But why son, why you?"
"Because I'm the only one who can!" With that he turned on his heel and stalked out of the kitchen door up the stairs and into the hallway.
"Son!" He turned to see his father coming up the stairs "I'll hide it, till you come back for it."
"I might not come back!"
"Even if you don't I'll hide it till I die."
"Thanks Dad, I knew I could count on you." He embraced his father briefly, and then turned to walk out of the door. Once outside he dissaparated immediately
He wasn't looking where he was going, well not really, he was too busy reading and re-reading a piece of parchment
From traitor to traitor, I ask for your help. Meet me outside Gringotts in inconspicuous dress.
I'm counting on you
He didn't know what to think, he didn't exactly like Severus, but what choice did he have? Severus knew he was a traitor.
Snape was waiting for him in an alley to the right of the snowy white building.
"You decided to come then?"
"Clearly. My curiosity got the better of me."
"You might want to know that an auror has been tipped off, he is now checking forearms."
"So why do you need my help?"
"I told the auror in exchange for my not being arrested."
"I need you to tell the Dark lord that Crabbe or Goyle were careless and showed someone one the mark by accident."
"Do it or he'll find out that both of us are traitors."
"Luckily we can both do occlumency!"
"Thankyou." said Snape quickly almost as though he didn't want to say it.
"You owe me!"
Snape dissapparated and he was left standing alone. He turned on his heel and walked back down Diagon Alley.
"Who let this slip?"
"Crabbe and Goyle are careless, apparently one of their sleeves slipped and showed the victim the dark mark. Then a load of Aurors raided the place before they could kill the victim, they had to apparate or they would have been caught and then the aurors would know anyway."
"You have done well to find this out. Bring Crabbe and Goyle to me!"
He apparated at once, his heart pounding at he thought of what he had just done.
He was ready for the excursion, he had stolen blood from a donor van and had a large bottle of water in his pocket, and he knew what he was up against. He hadn't been scared before and he wasn't scared now. The replacement was in his pocket with a note inside it.
I know I will be Dead long before you read this
but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret.
I have stolen the real horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can.
I face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more.
The smell of sea air hit him full in the face and he breathed in the fresh salty air. He walked over to the cave entrance peered cautiously inside.
"Known Magic." He whispered and entered
He knew where the next doorway was, he took out the bag of blood and split it with the knife provided. He made his way round the lake and pulled up the boat, he climbed in and it travelled slowly over the lake to the small island. He studied the stone basin for a while, then conjured a glass goblet out of thin air and dipped it into the liquid, he was just about to drink it when he stooped thought, and poured it away. The liquid returned to the basin.
He had an idea, he tapped his hand with his wand and muttered something. His hand was covered in what looked like molten glass, he dipped his hand into the potion and picked up the locket, then put the replacement in its place. He turned and left the way he came.
He was back outside the door to his parents house. He rang the doorbell, his Father opened it.
"Come in Quick!"
He entered and his father shut the door behind him.
"Here take it! I'll be back in two days to destroy it."
"What if you don't come back?"
"Open it destroy whatever is inside, no matter what it is it must be destroyed. Then seal it shut, Forever."
"I will Son, Good luck" The old man was nearly in tears, his son had done the most selfless thing in the world, he had given his life in the fight against Voldemort and he could not be more proud of him. They embraced passionately, not knowing if they would ever see each other again. He turned and exited leaving his father to hide and possibly destroy the locket.
He may not have been scared before, but he was scared now, in fact, he wasn't just scared, he was petrified. He had been on the run for over 24 hours, he was amazed he had survived that long, he had evaded three death eaters already, he knew it wasn't long before Voldemort himself came looking for him.
Maybe I will get to see my Dad, one last time holding back tears he ran on I will be back Dad, I will.
He spun round Snape was standing there, wand pointing at his heart.
"Go on then Severus, kill me!"
"You must have known, that in doing what you did..."
"That I would die? Of course I knew."
"Very well then. Arvada..."
The spells hit in mid-air and the two wands started to vibrate...
The golden cage was reverberating with the sound of a Dragon shrieking and roaring with all its might. Several beads of light were sliding up and down the golden thread connecting the wands. Both pairs of eyes were fixed on the beads trying to force them towards the other mans wand.
The beads were two inches away from snapes wands tip. He was sweating with the effort of trying to stop them, and make them go the other way. One inch half and inch. The bead was sucked into the wand.
Screaming issued from Snapes wand. Then the form of a man blossomed out of the tip of the wand and rose facing Snape then turned.
"Yes I'm dead."
"She's alive and safe, but you're not! Get as far away from here as you can."
More figures were blossoming out Snapes wand.
"Go now! and remember, I love you."
"I... I..." he swallowed "I'm sorry, Goodbye" and with that he broke the thread of Golden light and spun on the spot ... CRACK!
He ran, and ,ran, and ran, he ran till he couldn't run anymore, he spun on the spot and dissapparated.
He ran again, running, running, running.
Panting, panting, panting.
Pounding, pounding, pounding.
"I thought you would come here eventually and I was right wasn't I?"
He spun around and came face to face with the man who had sent the death eaters after him.
"Yes I did"
"Call it Dark Lords Intuition."
"Never again will I call you that you murderer!"
"And you'll be another one on the list."
"Who said I was going to be on the list."
"I did, unless you'd care to tell me where my horcrux is."
"Go and join your father then, you can't say you weren't given a choice." Voldemort raised his wand and screamed into the night " ARVADA KEDAVRA! "
He could se his mother in his mind, adding two death dates to the family tree. His brother, sitting at home, alone. Not knowing that he had died in the fight to stop Voldemort, thinking he had got scared about what he was being asked to do and chickened out. Then he saw the reason he was dead, the locket sitting in the cabinet behind his mother, dust settling upon it's shiny surface as though it was and old family relic from a forgotten past.
As he crossed over to join his father he hoped that someone, would finish what he had started.
