The next day in the Great Hall, Harry told Ron and Hermione everything that had happened, in the Forbidden forest. They were both impressed at how Harry had put his rivalry with Draco Malfoy aside for the girl, but also annoyed that it had to be Malfoy.

The news of Emma’s return to Hogwarts wasn’t a happy one. She was still in the hospital wing and had severe shock and if anyone talked to her she would burst into hysterics. She couldn’t seem to tell anyone what had attacked her, and it seemed a great struggle for her to stop crying. “I’m afraid the poor girl’s losing her mind. If this behaviour doesn’t improve she’ll have to be sent off to St Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries” Madam Pomfrey said sadly to the staff and students. Many of the Hufflepuff’s were saddened by this news.

Harry decided that today he would relax, just to have a day where he didn’t have to worry about anything. This was what Ron and Hermione were planning to do as well. “Listen if you two need me I’ll be in the library doing some homework” Hermione said happily to the two of them.

Ron gave Hermione a baffled look. “You’re doing homework? That’s your idea of relaxing? Doing homework!” he said. Hermione gave him a stern look.

“Yes it actually is Ron! You may not think much of homework, but I do” she answered. She was soon walking out of the Great Hall with her head held high, and a proud look on her face. Harry couldn’t help but laugh, the look on Ron’s face was comical.

“Listen I’m going outside in the grounds for a bit of fresh air” he said quietly. Harry said bye to him, and watched him walk out as well. He decided that he’d go read one of his Quidditch books, and got up to leave the Great Hall. Later when he was reading his book in the empty common room, he couldn’t help but feel happy that for one day everything was going to be alright.

Hermione sat happily doing her Charms homework. For once the Library was empty; she could concentrate without having other students talking to her, or making any noise. “Excuse me are you Hermione Granger?” came a voice.

Hermione rolled her eyes and sighed, she should have known it was too good to be true. “Yes I am. Who are you?” she asked. Hermione stifled a scream when she looked up. Cedric Diggory was standing by her table smiling at her.“WHO ARE YOU?” she shouted. Hermione instantly jumped out of her chair and backed against one of the bookcases. Cedric’s smiled wavered.

“I’m Cedric Diggory” he said.

“NO YOU’RE NOT, YOU’RE DEAD! YOU DIED MONTHS AGO!’ Hermione shouted again.

Cedric’s face became very calm, and he smiled once again, a look of understanding on his face. “You don’t have to worry about me, I’ve been sent to give you a message” he said. He then sat down in the chair opposite to Hermione’s. She looked warily at Cedric and sat down. “You’re right I am dead, but I really have come to give you a message” he said.

“How’d you know my name? We never talked?” she asked.

“I’ve heard of how great a witch you are” he replied. Hermione couldn’t help but blush at his remark. “That’s why it hurts me to have to tell you my news” Cedric said sadly. Hermione looked up at him alarmed.

Meanwhile Ron was walking in the grounds. He was quite annoyed by how Hermione had spoken to him in the Great Hall. Ron didn’t let this bother him much; she would probably be alright with him when he got back to Hogwarts. Ron suddenly noticed a small blonde haired, second year boy walking up to him. The boy walked up to Ron and smiled at him. “Your Harry Potter’s friend aren’t you?” he asked. The boy looked questioningly at him, waiting for an answer. Ron nodded his head, and then looked at the boy more carefully.

“You’re a Gryffindor aren’t you?” asked Ron. The boy nodded his head in a fashion quite like Collin Creevey.

“Yep, my names Stuart Morgan, I started school last year” he said happily.

“Harry and I have never seen you around” Ron said. Stuart shook his head sadly.

“No, no one seems to see me at all, started to happen after Christmas” he said. Ron looked sympathetically at Stuart.

“Why, did anything bad happen at Christmas?” he asked. Stuart stopped walking and gave Ron a very serious look.

“You sure you want me to tell you?” he asked Ron.

Harry was still in the Gryffindor common room, and was bored stiff. He had been reading for an hour, and was desperate to find Ron or Hermione. He got up and chucked the book down on the chair and went to leave. But before he could even reach the portrait hole, he was thrown backwards onto the floor. Harry stumbled up, and grabbed his wand. He ran to the portrait hole, and was again thrown backwards. Harry couldn’t attack anything, because he couldn’t see anything to attack.

Then the book which he had been reading was flung on the ground next to him, and opened up to a random page. On the page there was a picture of a Quidditch team flying around. The moving picture showed the players with blood on them falling off their brooms. Harry backed away and pointed his wand at it. The pages began to turn again, and this time came to a page with a snake on it. Its eyes gleamed evilly up at Harry’s. He couldn’t explain, but Harry already knew the words to say to the snake. “Reveal” he shouted. He felt a huge force pound him against the wall. “Reveal!” he shouted again. His back was crushed against the wall. Harry knew that it would only take a few more blows to break his ribs.

He lifted his arm and roared, using all his strength “REVEAL!” Much to him relief this worked. A green light spread across the room, and Harry felt his surroundings ease. He looked up near the fire place, and saw a man standing there. The man had black messy hair, and round glasses, it was Harry’s father James Potter. Harry stared at his father shocked beyond belief. “Dad?” he whispered.

“Harry I need to tell you something important” said James. His voice sounded far away. “Harry a person close to you in your life will try to kill you. It’ll be up to you to decide whether that person lives or not” echoed James.

Harry shook his head in disbelief. “No, it can’t be true” he whispered.

“It is. A friend will try to kill you Harry, and Dumbledore won’t be there to help you” said James. The green light started disappearing and James Potter’s body started to fade.

“No wait!” shouted Harry. But in a couple of minutes the room was back to normal, with no sign of James Potter.

Hermione stared at Cedric Diggory, panic rising in her. “Do you remember what happened on the Hogwarts Express?” questioned Cedric Diggory.

“What about it?” Hermione said rather sharply. A twisted evil smile crept up on Cedric’s face.

“A little incident happened on the train” he said. Hermione nodded her head.

“How do you know about that?” she asked. Cedric’s eyes never left Hermione’s.

“I think you already know” he smiled. Hermione felt her spine tingle.

”Dementors fear and flee it” she whispered. Cedric nodded his head.

“Not it, we” he smiled. Hermione tried to get out of her chair but couldn’t. It felt like two invisible hands were holding her down.

“Do you people honestly think that I’m the only master? There are two more, very close friends of mine. I’ve been walking this earth for years and years, and now Wizards and Muggles times have come. By the time we’re done, nearly everyone will be dead” laughed Cedric.

“Where are the other two?” hissed Hermione. She looked desperately round the library.

Cedric gave a loud laugh, “they’re not here. To be honest I don’t know where they are at the moment”. Cedric then got up and walked up to Hermione.

“My message to you Miss Granger is you and friends better watch your backs. You all killed a faithful servant of ours, and I promise you will pay. We’ll make sure of that. We’ll kill you, Weasley, Longbottom and Potter last” he smirked. He raised his hand and swiped Hermione’s arm, making a long bloody cut. Hermione screamed in pain, but was then whacked across the head. She blacked out instantly.

”When it came to the Christmas holidays, me and my mates decided to go home. Most of my stay at my house was fun, until I went out with my muggle mates. We were walking in our local forest when we were attacked. When I woke up all my muggle mates were gone, I couldn’t find them. Then I went back to Hogwarts, and still no one sees me” Stuart said miserably. Ron nodded his head sympathetically feeling sorry fro Stuart.

“Who’s that girl you and Potter always hang around with?” Stuart asked.

“Hermione Granger, why do you want to know?” Ron said half-heartedly. Stuart was quiet for a minute.

“She was the one who attacked me” he answered. Ron turned around shocked.

“What do you mean she attacked you?” he yelled.

“She attacked me. I remember, that’s why I came to talk to you. I came to warn you about her, about everyone. I was walking with my mates when she came, did some spell on me- really painful actually” said Stuart. Ron was about to run away, but Stuart grabbed his arm.
”Remember what I said; be careful about who your friends are, or who you meet. Don’t always trust everyone like me, because in the end it’ll kill you” he laughed. Ron stared horrified as he saw blood seep from a hole, where Stuart’s heart should have been. Stuart gave a friendly grin to Ron, and then vanished into thin air. Ron sank to his knees, in disbelief.

Harry was still lying against the wall; he had his head buried in his hands. He didn’t want to believe what had just happened, but he knew what his Father had told him was true. Harry couldn’t move all; he could do was sit there and think about what his Father had just told him.

When Hermione woke up Cedric was gone. She had a pounding headache, and her arm stung badly. She got shakily to her feet, and felt a great rush in her stomach. She ran to the Girls Bathroom on the second floor, and was violently sick. Afterwards all she could do was cry.

To Harry, Ron and Hermione, it seemed like this was only the beginning of a very bad nightmare.
