Chapter 6- Sweets and Confessions Author’s Note: There has been a lot of development with this story! There has always been a plot but now the plot is even BIGGER! I have no idea how long this story is going to be but hopefully not too long. You will also see that I have made a lot of changes to the story. I changed chapter five’s name because I didn’t like it very much. I don’t like ‘Robes’ either but I can’t think of anything else. I was going to use ‘Dances’ but Hermione only danced once in that chapter. Let me know what you think the name should be by reviewing! I changed the summary too because it didn’t fit very well with the larger plot. Let me tell you this: there is going to be a lot more action than intended and a lot more Voldemort. ;) Like I said, I made a lot of changes to the story, just small ones. I hate stories that are grammatically incorrect and have spelling errors so I made a lot of corrections. But please let me know if you see any mistakes! I would advise you to read Chapter 3- Secrets and Confessions if you read it before June 20, 2005, as I made a correction. Well, not a correction but I added something. And honestly not to give anything away, but it is a BIG something. You will all probably figure out what I am talking about and completely figure everything out but I just couldn’t leave you all hanging! And if you don’t feel like searching and rereading that entire chapter, take a look at Draco’s memory! Now I will get to see who reads my Author’s Notes and who doesn’t…. Keep Reading! Disclaimer: Do we really need to do this? None of it is mine except for the ever forming plot. So sorry these disclaimers are getting quite boring! ************************************************************************ Sweets and Confessions Re-cap- Hermione graciously thanked the elves and opened the large door. She waved good-bye to the elves and closed the door. She was rearranging the basket and pitcher in her hands when she was suddenly knocked down by a large, solid figure. For the second time that day, Hermione let out a frustrated moan and looked up to see what had caused her to become to irritated. The food lay forgotten, sprawled out on the floor. The pumpkin juice was spilling from the pitcher; seeping into the cracks of the floor. Hermione emitted an audible gasp as she crawled to the human being. It was Malfoy. And he was bleeding and in pain. ************************************ Lucius Malfoy was in the study at the Malfoy Manor. The Death Eater sat at the oversized desk, intently reading a letter that had just arrived by owl. “I regret to inform you that…” Lucius shrieked in fury at what he read. He was so incensed that his screams could be heard a mile away. Lucius’s platinum blonde hair was sticking up on end from his uncontrollable rage. Malfoy Senior hastily took out a quill and parchment and with great speed he began writing a threatening letter to a man whose life might be in jeopardy: Tom R. Ruvikk. Despite the situation, Lucius smiled to himself. He knew the chaos that would be unraveling many miles away. Hermione let out a terrified squeak as she looked at the man in front of her. Draco Malfoy’s face was contorted in pain. He groaned and clenched his right side whilst moving his robes, allowing his stomach to be seen. And that was when Hermione saw it. Underneath his robes there was a deep gash in Malfoy’s stomach; it seemed like blood was pouring from the wound. The Slytherin’s black robes were wet with blood and appeared to be darker, if that was possible. The infamous silver and green tie that hung around his neck had a tinge of pink to it. There was blood everywhere. “Oh Merlin,” Hermione whispered in shock. Malfoy groaned in pain as he turned on his side and he immediately assumed the fetal position. He regretted this at once; the pain increased. Hermione crawled over to where Malfoy’s head laid. Fearfully, she looked at his face that was distorted in agony. “Malfoy?” Draco gave no response, just a moan. “Malfoy.” Hermione said more firmly this time, trying to get his attention. He still paid no attention to Hermione. Hermione was getting desperate. She needed to know what was going on. “Malfoy!” Hermione yelled this time. Malfoy still seemed to not hear anything; he was beginning to twitch. Well, desperate times calls for desperate measures. Hermione reasoned with herself. Hermione inched herself so she was directly above the boy and peered down into his face. She noticed tears were starting to leak from his eyes. Hermione mustered all of her strength, pulled back her hand and slapped Malfoy hard across that face. Malfoy suddenly seemed to come back to reality. Hermione realized that the state that Malfoy was in was because of immense pain. Malfoy started to slip away again. Hermione let out a sigh of frustration. Hermione continually muttered “Malfoy” but to no avail. Until she finally said, “Draco,” was he coherent. Malfoy grabbed violently onto the front of Hermione’s robes, emitting a soft gasp from the witch. Draco Malfoy eyes were focused on the dark coffee brown ones of Hermione Granger. Hermione could see fear and utter pain deep inside the gray eyes of her arch enemy. Pleadingly and almost desperately Malfoy uttered, “Help me,” before collapsing onto the floor. Hermione tried to awaken Malfoy but to no avail. What am I supposed to do? I can’t just leave him here in the middle of the corridor! Maybe Madam Pomfrey… Hermione’s thoughts of the Hospital Wing were almost immediately squashed; it was close to midnight. Madam Pomfrey would be asleep. Hermione wracked her brain trying to think of what to do. She concluded on one thing, Dumbledore “Mobilicorpus” was muttered by Hermione and Malfoy was lifted into the air. Hermione started climbing the staircases with Malfoy carefully in tow. The interesting pair arrived at the Headmaster’s office; directly across was Head’s Common Room. Hermione looked at it longingly and thought, What I would give to be asleep right now. The Gryffindor was bewildered as to what to do next. She stood staring at the large sculpture which was staring back at her. She quietly began muttering to herself. “A password….password. It could be anything!” Hermione said in distress. Then, deep in her thoughts, Hermione recalled a forgotten conversation she had had with Harry one day. ”The password is always a sweet. It’s usually always a wizarding treat but once it was ‘lemon drop.’” This didn’t help Hermione much. Oh, great. That lowers it down to about a million different candies. Hermione started naming sweets. She had to start somewhere. “Sugar quills!” The gargoyle looked at her, amused. “Pumpkin Pastries!” “Chocolate Frogs!” “Toothflossing Stringmints!” Hermione yelled in aggravation. She mentally reviewed Honeyduke’s inventory. “Acid Pops!” “Oh, I don’t know! Ice Mice for Merlin’s sake!” The gargoyle sprung to the side and allowed her long awaited entrance. “Ice Mice?” But Hermione was brought back to the situation at hand when she heard a moan from Malfoy. Hermione looked from Malfoy to the spiral staircase and plunged ahead. She carefully guided Malfoy onto the stairs and waited as they began to move upward. As Hermione stepped off the staircase she urgently began yelling. Before Hermione was even able to reach the large, wooden door Professor Dumbledore stepped through the magnificent door with a look of concern and worry. “Professor, Malfoy, he was-I do-“ “Ms. Granger.” “He asked for help and I didn’t know what to do.” “Ms. Granger,” Dumbledore said more firmly this time. “I was going to go to the Hospital Wing but then-“ Hermione was cut off when she heard another moan coming from Malfoy. Hermione looked at the pained expression on his face in fear. No one really deserved this much pain no matter what they did or who they are. “Professor, what happened?” Hermione looked at the Headmaster with a trace of a tear in her eye. Dumbledore looked at Malfoy and sighed anxiously. He motioned to Hermione to relinquish her hold on the young man and she did as she was told. Dumbledore supported Malfoy with his wand. Dumbledore finally looked into Hermione’s eyes. “Ms. Granger, I really appreciate you bringing Mr. Malfoy to me, as I am sure he will be just as appreciative too,” Dumbledore took a somber glance at Malfoy and continued, “I am not quite sure what has happened to Mr. Malfoy or why this is happening but it has occurred before.” Dumbledore paused and looked at Hermione’s confused face and said, “Mr. Malfoy was involved in an incident in which he was affected in unidentified ways that we have yet to learn the effects of. But I am afraid we are witnessing these unknown effects now,” Dumbledore finished in a sigh and watched as Hermione’s eyes widened in confusion. “I am afraid it is not my decision to tell you what we are aware of and what we aren’t. That is, up to Mr. Malfoy and I am sorry to say he is incapable of deciding at the moment. But there is no need to panic or worry; Mr. Malfoy will recuperate and be fine in no time.” Dumbledore added at seeing Hermione’s uneasy face. “Now, Ms. Granger, if you will excuse me I need to make sure that the Head Boy is tended too. But please, take a lemon drop.” Hermione nodded mutely and followed the Professor out of his office. Hermione did not notice she was going down the stairs into the corridor until she heard the footsteps of Professor Dumbledore echoing off the ceiling. Even if Hermione wanted to get another word out of Dumbledore, she couldn’t. He was walking so fast that it could rival Snape’s when he was in a towering mood. Hermione didn’t even notice where she was going until she nearly bumped into the other stone gargoyle. Hermione mentally shook herself and said, “Amor Vincit Omnia” and the entrance to the common room appeared. Albus Dumbledore arrived in the Hospital Wing a short while later. He strode over to a standard white bed and lowered Draco Malfoy onto the white pristine sheets that would soon be tinged pink. Surprisingly, Poppy Pomfrey was not in her chambers but in the Hospital Wing. “Albus, what happened?” Madam Pomfrey said as she strode over to the occupied bed. “I am afraid,” Dumbledore said with a grave expression, “that it has happened again.” Poppy’s eyes widened in shock. “Why? How is this happening?” Dumbledore hated to admit it but did so anyway. “I can not answer that question as of yet. Hopefully we will have some answers soon.” Hermione stepped into the Head’s common room and swept over to the Head Girl’s room. “Virtus” was spoken and she walked into her room. Hermione put a pair of pajamas on and laid down in her new bed. Hermione mulled over the days events in her head. Her thoughts drifted from her parents all the way to Draco Malfoy. Hermione disliked how cryptic Dumbledore was and just wished he would give her a straight answer. She would just have to wait for Malfoy to get better until she could question him. As Hermione envisioned her parents and thought of the masked man, she fell into a fitful slumber.
