Chapter 2- Dreams and Confessions Author’s Note: Welcome back! I hope you enjoy this chapter! When I was mentally planning this chapter I thought that it would explain a lot but then I noticed that it is basically a filler chapter. So I decided to change it around a bit so I hope you all like it! Again, it would be greatly appreciated if you could review! I like having input so I know whether or not my story is going well. And I do listen to comments and let me know if you want something to happen because I might just add it! If you want the characters to do something just make a comment! Oh yeah, tell me what you think about how Hermione loves to dance. It is going to play a pretty big part in my story so let me know how you feel about it! All right I’m rambling so I will let you go! Have Fun! (Really quick Author’s Note: Do you want a re-cap from the last chapter?) Disclaimer: Let’s see what I own…not that many things. I don’t even own my bed let alone Harry Potter! But I do own a nice set of Varsity numbers and a letter! ;) ************************************************************************ Dreams and Confessions Hermione was helped to her feet by Professor Dumbledore when they arrived in the kitchen of the Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore led her to the table and conjured two nice squashy armchairs, and two mugs of delicious, hot butterbeer. They both sat down and took a sip out of their mugs. Hermione was reminiscing about what had just happened and Dumbledore seemed deep in thought. Just as Hermione was about to speak, Dumbledore said, “You do not need to explain anything to me Miss Granger. I have already been informed of what happened.” Hermione was speechless. “How would you know? Wait, who told you? How did they find out?” Hermione said this all in one breath. Dumbledore then said, “I don’t think I am qualified to answer these questions. I will, however, be here to answer anything else that you wish to know. Tonks will be picking up your things at your house. It will be safer for you if you don't go back to your house. We cannot stay here because of everyone's comings and goings. We will all be leaving for Hogwarts in about an hour.” Hermione was confused. “Professor what do you mean 'we will all'? " “Including you and I, the two Weasley’s still left at Hogwarts, and Ha—“ He was cut short when the kitchen door suddenly burst open. Harry looked around frantically and when he spotted Hermione he ran over to her and enveloped her in a tight hug. “Hermione are you alright? Did that bastard hurt you? I was so afraid what he would do after he tied you up and---“ Harry was interrupted when Hermione said, “Wait it was you? You saw what happened? How did y- How did you?” “I think we should go sit down.” Harry said with anticipation. Harry then led Hermione off to a small sitting room and they sat down on a moth eaten couch. “I dreamt it Hermione. I saw what was happening. It was like what had happened in 5th year with Mr. Wealsey accept I wasn’t the attacker, I promise you that.” Hermione nodded her head and Harry wrapped her in an embrace. “Harry I—“ Harry nodded his head to reassure her to continue. “Did you see who it was?” Hermione wiped a fallen tear from her eye when she said this. “Oh I’m sorry Mione. I wasn’t able to catch a look at his face.” Harry said while looking into her sad eyes. “That’s alright Harry but thank you for alerting Professor Dumbledore for me. How did you tell him by the way?” “As soon as I woke up I sent Hedwig with a note to Dumbledore right away and I told her to go above the speed limit too.” Harry said with a chuckle while trying to lighten the mood. “About quarter past Tonks Apparated at the Dursley’s and we flooed back here.” “Well I praise Merlin for you having odd-Seer-like-dreams.” Hermione proclaimed in a mock-tone of voice as she looked up to the sky with her hands clasped together. “But if you excuse me, I have to use the bathroom.” Hermione said as she stood up. Hermione walked down the hall to the dimly lit bathroom. She stumbled here and there because she couldn’t control her trembling body. Hermione barely made it to the bathroom without breaking down. She closed the door and stood with her back to it. Hermione allowed all of the memories flash past her. Her mother’s lifeless body and the bloody orchid were clear in her mind. Hermione slid down and sat up against the door as she let a wave of sobs splash over her. There was an emptiness inside of her heart. It had belonged to her mother and father. She now felt so alone. Hermione let it all out but not before putting a Silencing Charm around the walls. She didn’t want anyone to know that she was crying. Hermione decided to put on a brave face and not grow too emotional in front of others. She knew this would be very hard. Hermione let out a shriek and pounded her fists against the door. She continued to bawl on the floor and she would say quietly in between wails, “It’s not fair!” Hermione remained sobbing for another ten minutes. She wiped the tears from her eyes and went over to the sink and turned the cold water on. Hermione splashed her face with freezing cold water and then dried it off on her sleeve. Hermione looked at herself in the mirror. She thought she looked pathetic. Her hair disheveled, and her face a mess, she looked like she had been to Hell and back. Hermione then noticed that she was still in her pajamas. Because she was so exhausted she quickly dismissed it; she would more than likely go right to sleep when she arrived at Hogwarts. After quickly composing herself, Hermione walked out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. She saw Ron in there and was quickly swept up into a tight hug. “Mione, Harry told me what happened. Are you alright?” Ron asked with a worried look on his face. She sighed and looked Ron directly in the eye. “I’m alright Ron. Just exhausted and a little shocked. I just need to rest when we get to Hogwarts.” “Speaking of Hogwarts,” Dumbledore said as he walked into the kitchen with Harry and Ginny in tow, “it’s time to leave for the school. Your trunks and animals have all been transported to the school. We will go by Portkey. And we are due to leave in approximately 30 seconds. Just put a finger on the shoe and we will be departing shortly.” Dumbledore, Harry, and the two Weasley’s all placed a finger on the shoe and they felt a jerk around their stomach. The group landed in Dumbledore’s office. Well, only Hermione, Dumbledore, and Harry landed; Ron and Ginny were lying on the floor. They both stood up and dusted themselves off. Dumbledore began to speak, “Now Ms. Granger, since you have been chosen as Head Girl, you have your own special common room and sleeping corridors that you will be sharing with the Head Boy.” As Dumbledore was saying this he saw Harry and Ron exchange looks of concern. Harry looked inquiringly at him and mouthed to Dumbledore if he could speak with him. “I will lead you to your quarters right after I talk to Harry. Now if you will excuse us, I will be with you in a minute.” Dumbledore finished his sentence firmly. With that, Ron, Ginny, and Hermione all stepped outside. Dumbledore sat in his chair and looked at Harry questioningly. “Professor,” Harry said as he sat down in the chair in front of the Headmaster’s desk. “I am worried about Hermione. She has just suffered a great loss and she is going to live on her own?” “Under the circumstances I will allow you, Ron, and Ginny to visit her whenever she is up to it. But it has to be when Ms. Granger allows it. I don’t want her to feel overwhelmed with friends around her too.” Harry stood up and said, “I understand Professor Dumbledore. Thank you.” Harry began to walk towards the door but he suddenly stopped and turned around sharply. He quickly strode up to the Professor’s desk and said in a high-pitched voice, “Professor,” he paused and continued when Dumbledore nodded his head, “w-who is the Head Boy?” Dumbledore sighed and gave Harry a searching look. “I did not make you Head Boy because of the same reason why I did not make you a Gryffindor Prefect." He sighed again, stood up and walked to the window. “I know you will not be happy with my decision but this year’s Head Boy is Slytherin’s own Draco Malfoy.” Harry’s mouth dropped open in horror. How could Draco Malfoy be Head Boy? Dumbledore continued to speak. “Since you already know Harry, I would like it if you told Hermione who the Head Boy is. But I also have something else to tell you that concerns the Head Boy.” Harry braced himself for what was going to happen next. “Mr. Malfoy will be sharing the Head’s common rooms with Hermione,” Dumbledore was not very keen with what he was about to say, but he couldn’t prolong it and longer. “Mr. Malfoy has already arrived here, at Hogwarts, and will be staying before the term starts.” Dumbledore paused at this but kept going. “I want you all to be civil towards each other and keep your behavior in check.” “And Harry, Mr. Malfoy has changed. I don’t know if it was for the better or for the worse yet. So tread-lightly around him and don’t be foolish.” Dumbledore said warningly. He then stood up and went to the door with Harry in his footsteps, even more dumbstruck and bewildered than after the dream.
