Draco paced back and forth in the Common Room. What were these new feelings he was feeling for Hermione? Was he starting to actually care for her? He supposed he never hated HER, just her heritage. He was born and raised to hate and be superior to mudbloods like Granger. He was lead to believe purebloods were everything! That’s probably why he hated Granger. Or, at least, that’s what he was told...

I was born to hate mudbloods, like Granger. But, Granger’s not Granger. Granger is Turner. Turner is pureblood. So, is it OK to start accepting my feelings towards Hermione? Draco thought.

Hermione sat on a rock under the large tree by the lake. Her knees were pulled to her chest and her head was in her arms. Her tears flowed freely now, wanting to break free for so long. Hermione had reached an all time low. Her parents were dead. She had no family. Nowhere to live. Nobody to love and nobody to love her. Her friends were distant, and Hermione was alone. She had nothing and nobody. She was starting to get a headache from all her crying. She stood up to go back to the castle. Hermione’s legs turned to Jell-O and the world around her was engulfed by darkness as she fell to the hard ground.

After sending an owl to his father, Draco decided to go find, and talk to, Hermione. He descended the stairs from his room to the common room, only to find it empty. Hermione wasn’t back yet. It had been almost two hours since Draco had seen her last. Something wasn’t right. He looked at the pictures about the mantle. Portrait Draco was having a nervous breakdown, while Portrait Hermione was sleeping. Draco let out a sigh of relief.

“Good. She’s getting some rest.” Draco said to himself. He headed towards Hermione’s room. The door was open, so he decided to walk in. Draco thought he would find Hermione, but the bed was made, untouched by the sleeping form of the woman he had hoped to see. Draco raced out of her room and back into the common room.

Think Draco! If you were Hermione, where would you be?! he thought frantically. He paced for a while then stopped.

“The Lake!” He shouted. “But wait... it’s raining. Why would Hermio...” Draco grabbed his coat and raced out of the Head Common Room. Pushing past students and teachers, he ran to the entrance of the castle. Draco pushed to doors open and ran outside. The cold rain plastered his platinum blonde hair to his pale forehead.

“Hermione!?” He shouted as he ran to the lake. When Draco was about twenty yards away from the edge of the waters, his strides became longer as he ran faster, his arms pumping at his sides. He came to a stop and threw himself on the ground. He carefully cradled Hermione’s wet, unconscious body in his arms.

“Hermione? Hermione wake up. Merlin wake up!” He said frantically as he gently shook her body.

“Draco?” Hermione whispered.

“Shh. Yes, it’s me. I’m taking you inside before you freeze.” He said lifting himself off the ground, as well as Hermione’s small body. He quickly made his way up to the castle with Hermione pulled close to his chest. He softly whispered the password to the common room and hurried inside, all the while avoiding the concerned and skeptical glances of their fellow students.

When inside, Draco carried Hermione up the stairs. Since Draco could not remember the password to her room, he took Hermione up to his room. Draco gently set her on his bed. He walked into his closet, and came out with a large t-shirt and some flannel pajama bottoms. Draco walked over to the bed, and sat them down next to Hermione. As he was nearing the door, he heard Hermione’s soft voice.

“Would you mind helping me Draco? Please?” She said as she furiously blushed. Draco turned around and gave her a caring smiled before walking over to the side of the bed.

“Arms up.” Draco quietly commanded. Hermione lifted her arms above her head. With trembling hands, Draco slowly peeled off her damp t-shirt, exposing her flat abs. He quickly slipped the oversized t-shirt over Hermione’s head. She smiled at the fact that Draco was a gentleman, and decent, and didn’t gape at her chest like others may have. The touch of Draco’s calloused hands upon her stomach made her blush. He slowly unbuttoned her pants as he slid them off Hermione’s long, skinny legs. Hermione looked up, and the ice blue eyes of Draco met her chocolate brown eyes. They never broke their eye contact, and Hermione had the pajama pants on no sooner than her wet ones had come off. Draco got up off the bed, and sat by the fireplace in him bedroom. It was a Saturday afternoon, so there were no classes. He had just started a book when Hermione spoke.

“Erm... Draco?” She asked shakily. He looked up from his book.

“Yes?” Hermione started crying. Draco stood up and walked over to the edge of the bed, sitting next to Hermione.

“What’s wrong?” He whispered.

Hermione sobbed, “Everything is falling apart!”

“Hermione...” Draco started. He looked down and saw Hermione’s smalls arms wrapped around him.

“Can you just hold me?” She whispered. Draco sighed as her wrapped his strong, protective arms around Hermione’s small body. Soon, her sobs stopped and the Head Boy and Girl fell asleep in each other’s arms.
