Really enjoyed reading this story, saw the banner and thought it looked interesting. It's really different from a lot of other stuff on here, it can be hard to find good Dumbledore stories. Is Boyle a real or fictional character? I couldn't remember if JK Rowling had ever mentioned him or not...I can definitely see Dumbledore as having a mad scientist past. This was very good, please keep writing it!

Review #2, by Lady Snape of Spinners End One

9th September 2011:
This was story was fascinating, extremely original and well-written, unique, intriguing, and above all, addicting! This is a breath of fresh air on HPFF; we need more stories like this, with original takes on characters we don't know too much about, like Flamel. What a bright light compared to all the usual girl-has-crush-on-popular-boy-and-suffers-alone drab on here. The quality of writing in this chapter is excellent; I could never use such descriptive language so adeptly! It's obvious that a lot of thought went into creating this chapter. I could definitely hear and see and smell the potions and chemicals bubbling and broiling. I really felt like I was in old London, I could practically hear horses clattering on cobblestone streets outside. The way the characters talk was particularly interesting; it makes the story very authentic. I really enjoyed what you chose to make of the characters personalities; Flamel was fascinating in his coldness. He almost reminded me of Snape in a way. I'd definitely like to see more of Boyle, I already have a crush on him, and I loved when he spoke Irish. I like how Dumbledore is real, and not Mr. Smiley Perfect. Like when he doesn't stand up for Mrs. Flamel, surely the Dumbledore in Harry's world would have, but this Dumbledore is obviously a completely different person. Write on, for the greater good!

Excellent vocabulary and descriptive adjectives. I agree, I can picture the small, cramped lab filled with chemicals and heat. Dirty Old London. I like the subtle way we are starting to learn more about Dumbledore's personality. Great start!

This was such a great read! I love reading about Dumbledore as a youth-as someone who isn't so high and mighty. As someone that is among men who are just as smart and even more assertive than the great Dumbledore. Love the hints of his interest in Master Boyle! Can't wait to see what develops in the lab! Also love the banner...what good actors to choose!

Review #5, by Queenie Shacklebolt One

WOW! This chapter was truly amazing!!! I really felt like I was reading a real book, something that has descriptions of old dirty, dreary London, like A Christmas Carol or something by Dickens or even Sweeney Todd! Great descriptions of the lab, I could really almost hear the equipment clanking around and hear the fire crackling. I imagine the room to be dark, hot, and stuffy because of the fire. I could almost hear the scratch of the quills and the parchment! I love the old English speak! I know I certainly wouldn't be able to pull that off, I don't know enough about the period! It's very interesting to read about all the potions and experiments that they're doing, especially since I don't know anything about this alchemy stuff. This whole idea is really fresh and different compared to the usual stuff (Dramione, oc blather etc.) that's on here. It's very interesting to imagine a young Dumbledore discovering his talents in London and finding himself. I'm assuming there's going to be a romance between Albus and Boyle. I mean "Robert" hee hee. He sounds HAWT. The whole Irish speaking thing = hot! Great job on turning the character of Flamel into something no one would've suspected! We just hear about him as Dumbledore's colleague, but making him cold and creepy adds thrill! I can't waaittt to read the next chapter! Oh and I love the banner! Is that Heath Ledger??
