Now, on with my story. Its my first one, so be sure to tell me what you think .

Lily Evans was loved by many. She was, perhaps, loved the most, however, by a certain trouble prone boy with untidy black hair and glasses.

Yes, James Potter was absolutly smitten with her, despite that fact that she rejected him every time he asked her out and did her best to insult him. He really could have cared less. He had like her since their second year at Hogwarts.

Most girls in Hogwarts would have killed to get asked out by James Potter, so why didn't Lily? What was so bad about the handsome, smart, god-like quidditch player everybody else seemed to love?

Lily was standing in front of the portrait of the fat lady, the entrance to Gryfinndor tower. She was a beautiful girl with huge green eyes that shone when she was happy and turned, if possible, a more intense green when she was mad. Her red hair was her best feature, many would say, what with its lustrious color and the way it always seemed to do exactly what she wanted it to. She was 5'6, just the right height for a girl of seventeen. Currently, she was trying to remember the password to the tower.

Great, it's only been two months and I can't even remember the password.

She decided to wait until someone came along and told her the password so she could get inside. To her horror, that person was James.

"Hey, Lily." He said grinning in that lopsided way he always did. It usually made girls faint at his feet, but not Lily. It just made her roll her eyes. "Will you go out with me?" There it was again, that lopsided grin and the look of hope in his eyes he got everytime he asked her.

"No." She said curtly. She turned away from him him and tried to think what the password might be.

"Will you go out with me if I tell you the new password?" James asked walking up to her. Lily bit back a nasty response and instead settled for,

"No, Potter. I will not go out with you if you tell me the password. I will never go out with you, why can't you understand that?"

"I dunno. Why do you hate me?" He asked in reply. That stopped Lily in her tracks. She spun around to face him.

"Hate you? I don't hate you. No matter how much I want to, I can't hate you. I definately dislike you, but I could never hate you." He nodded his head knowingly, though she doubted he did.

"Good, I've still got a chance then." She smacked her hand against her forehead and shook her head. He was hopeless.

When she took her hand away from her face and looked up, she did a double take. Sirius, Remus and Peter were standing there as if they had been all along.

"Hey Prongs." Sirius greeted his friend.

"Hey Padfoot," James began. "You're good with women arent you?" Lily snorted. If by, 'good with women' he meant date 'em and ditch 'em soon after, then he was right. Sirius was known to have a different girlfriend every other week. The part that really bothered Lily was, no one seemed to care. Not even any of Sirius's past girlfriends who worshipped him as though he had never broken their hearts.

"Yes," Sirius began slowly. "Why?"

"I need your help in getting Evans to go out with me." James replied innocently. Lily frowned.

"You guys know I can hear you, right?" Lily said, tapping her foot. Sirius looked at her as though he had never quite seen anything like her.

"I will definately have a think and get back to you on that one, Prongs. It'll have to be different from anything else we've tried yet, none of that has worked. Not even the stuff Moony came up with. I will definately think of something." Sirius said, stroking his chin for lack of a beard.

"I can still hear you." Lily said. James smiled and shook his head as though adressing a small child and turned back to Sirius.

"I hope so. Nothing I try works. Watch," He turned back to Lily. "Evans, will you go out with me?"

"I do happen to have a name you know. And no, I won't. Have you even bothered to listen to what I have said in the past when you ask me out?" Lily was just about ready to bash her head against the wall in frustration.

"See. Nothing." James said. Lily was about to reply very nastily indeed when she smiled instead. Her best friend Pheobe was coming towards them, looking as frustrated as Lily felt. Pheobe had her arms full of books, which she dropped when she reached Lily.

"What is going on here?" She asked, frowning at the mess of books on the floor. Lily bent down to help her pick the books up, not answering. Not like she even needed to. Lily and Pheobe had been friends since they sat togather on the Hogwarts Express in their first year. Pheobe knew what a crush James had on her friend. It was then that Lily remembered the password. "Lily, do you remem-"

"Pickled Toad" Lily practically shouted at the portrait. She wanted to get away from James and his possy fast.

"Thanks." Pheobe said. Lily smiled.

"No problem." And they went through the portrait hole.

Lily's refusal had only made him want her more. But wait, was that why? Was that really what made him want her so much? Just because he couldn't have her? No. He wanted her so much more than because he couldn't have her. He would make her see.

Chapter 2: Say what?

Now, on with my story. Its my first one, so be sure to tell me what you think .

It had been a few minutes since the hall incident, and Lily and Pheobe were sitting at a table in the common room trying to finish some homework. Neither was having much succes as Pheobe was surrounded by little paper balls and Lily had her head in her hands. Lily sighed loudly, she was lost in thought. Pheobe stopped contemplating banging her head on the table and looked up at her friend.

"What is it?" She asked Lily, pushing a random paper ball onto the floor.

"I am just not going to get anymore of this done." Lily replied, stuffing her unfished runes homework into her bag.

"Me either. I can't believe the proffesor, giving us two whole rolls of parchment! And due next monday!"

"Could you help me?" A pretty girl asked, coming up behind them. It was one of their friends, Cassandra. Cassandra was tall and tanned. She had beautiful chocolate brown eyes and a winner smile. Her hair was down to her shoulders and it was black, the ends dyed cherry red. She was looking at Lily and Pheobe hopefully and held out her arithmancy paper. Pheobe took it and frowned.

"Divide, add and then um....multiply." She said, pointing to various points on the paper.

"Thanks. Hey, guys, are you coming to the quidditch match tommarow?"

"Yeah," Said Lily smiling. She was picturing the Gryffindor team, flying around the pitch, victorious. Then, she saw a single face. It belonged to James Potter. She was thinking how cute he was when he caught the snitch, that funny little grin plastered to his face.....then she caught herself. She shook her head in disgust. She looked quickly at her friends and was thankful they hadn't noticed her little episode. No, Pheobe and Cassandra were deeply immersed in an argument over quidditch. Lily took hold over her bag and rose from her seat. She heard the portrait door open and looked up. A mistake. She saw that James and his friends were walking through the door. Her hand jerked for some reason and she dropped her bag. This, her friends noticed, partly, because Lily was always so careful, and partly because her books were was her ink.

"Oy! Watch it!"

"Sorry!" Lily said, picking up her things, she hurried up to the dormitory.

Pheobe came into the dormitory a few minutes later to find Lily staring out the window. She smirked. Pheobe and Lily had been friends since they came to Hogwarts. She could practically read Lily's mind.

"Not dreaming about a certain trouble maker with messy hair I hope?" Pheobe asked trying to keep from saying anything else.

"No." Lily said quietly, then she got what her friend meant, or rather, who. "No!"

"Uh huh." Pheobe replied, smiling.

"I wasn't!" Lily insisted.

"Didn't say you were."

"Youre smiling." Lily said turning around.

"Is that a crime?"

"It is when youre planning something." Lily said, narrowing her eyes, but smiling as well.

"Me? Planning something?" Pheobe said innocently. Lily snorted. She doubted that Pheobe could be innocent if she tried.

"Alright, what? What is the mastermind planning?" Lily asked, grabbing a pillow.

"To get you to go out with James. You know you like him. Your in denial, thats what I think..." But Pheobe was cut off because a flying pillow hit her in the face. "Ok, thats it, this is war!" She cried, grabbing another pillow.

The next few minutes were occupied by flying pillows, feathers, and laughing girls. Cassandra came in the room. She was immediatly bombarded with a pillow.

"Hey!" Then she saw the mess that had settled over the usually neat room. Pillows were everywhere and feathers were strewn over the six beds belonging to the seventh year girls of Gryffindor. She smiled. "Guys." But they didn't hear. "Guys!" She raised her wand and yelled, "Immobulus!" The fight immediatly slowed.

Go on, next chapter.

Chapter 3: Quidditch and Kisses
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognize. To make it even more clear, If you recognize it, I don't own it. The only things I own are Pheobe, Rachel, Maegan and Cassandra. Everything else belongs to J.K. Rowling, so don't sue me.

Now, on with my story. Its my first one, so be sure to tell me what you think . (Sorry it took so long.)

"Guys," She repeated, now that she had their attention. "Two things. Lily, you have a prefects meeting and Pheobe, James sent me to tell you about the quidditch practice you are missing."

"But James is on the quidditch team and he's head boy." Lily reminded Cassandra.

"I know. I guess he's gonna have to skip one." She replied shrugging.

"Three guesses which." Lily and Pheobe said at the same time.

But to her surprise, and his own, James Potter was at the prefects meeting when Lily arrived. He seemed to have been trying to impress her this year. It's not like he hadn't tried to impress her in previous years, because he had. But this year, he seemed maturer.

A part of Lily still couldn't stand him and yet, there was a part of her that could. And it was that part of her that was setting the path for things to come. For future occurrences that could not have happened without that part. Change was in the air , as well it should have been. Like it or not, Lily would soon fall for the boy she could, at one point, hate with a passion.

James Potter loved Lily Evans. He had since their second year at Hogwarts. At first it had been merely a crush. But his infatuation had ended long ago to be replaced with love. Every time he saw her, it was all he could do to keep from kissing her. But, if he did that, she would probably kill him. In his heart, James knew that he would never stop loving Lily. Never. He also knew that if he was ever going to win her over, like he had been trying to do for the past few years, it would have to be soon. This was his, and her, last year at Hogwarts. He would win her over. There was not a chance in Hell that he would just let her walk out of his life. Not a chance.

After the meeting, Lily walked to the library and started to do her homework. Pheobe was still at practice. She was halfway through her Arithmancy essay, when Pheobe came in.

"Hey." Pheobe said. "Quidditch practice was great. I think that Slytherin won't stand a chance."

"Hey yourself, why did we take arithmancy in the first place?"

"You took arithmancy, not me."

"What was I thinking?" Lily continued. "Do you realize that we have an essay in Potions, Transfiguration, Care of Magical creatures and Herboligy? And Now I have to finish an essay in Arithmancy as well." Lily sighed.

"So, was the meeting boring?" Pheobe asked. Lily thought for a moment. She was so preoccupied with her work that she almost didnt know what Pheobe was talking about.

"Spending an hour alone with Potter would have been funner. Wait, that didnt come out right." Lily said, stowing her paper at last into her bag. She felt a pair of hands on her shoulders.

"Did I hear my name, Lily flower?" Only one person would ever call her that.

"James Potter get your hands off me." Lily said furiously.
