Chapter 1: Prologue

For every person there comes a moment when everything in their life changes. When their life takes a turn for the best or worst. I call it the moment. The moment that you never forget, the moment that you look back on after years and years and still don’t believe that it happened. It could be anything from getting the perfect marks in your exams to failing, from falling in love to losing a loved one. And in each experience people feel different emotions. Some are happy, elated and some are left with sadness and pain.

But in my case, all I felt was numb. A numbness that took over my entire being. The pain came later, yes, devastating amount of pain, anger, loss and heartbreak. But at first, I couldn’t believe that it was happening to me, my mind couldn’t process the events that led to the moment. The moment when everything changed for me. The moment that led me on a path of love and loss and friendship and betrayal. The moment that person entered my world and changed my idea of the world.

It became clear that everything I have worked for my entire life didn’t matter anymore. And what I believed in was never the whole truth. That was the moment my world turned around.

When I realized that I was never alone.
