Draco and Ginny's relationship over the years. Songfic. But a different kind. Drinny story. I wasn't Expecting that by Jaime Lawson

Chapter 1: It was only a smile
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

It was only a smile but my heart it went wild
I wasn’t expecting that.

Draco looked around the Great Hall, searching for her cinnamon coloured eyes. He didn’t know when he started liking her it just sort of happened. Maybe it was the fact that she could deal with any situation, or possibly the fact that she was feisty and could do a mean bat-bogey hex.

He remembered the first time that they had exchanged words with each other; well second time but Draco didn’t count that time in Flourish and Blotts.

He was walking through Hogwarts in his third year. The bandage wrapped around his arm, even though he could have taken it off any time he wanted to, for the cut had healed a week ago, as he was looking for sympathy from passers-by. He heard loud footsteps behind him. He turned around wandering if it were Potter, angry cause the bird would probably die or Hagrid get fired. Draco thought amused. He saw red locks and a wand pointing at his throat, he went even paler if it were possible that is.

“How dare you Malfoy, you horrible no good evil little cockroach.” Ginny shouted face going as red as her hair.

“That Oaf was going to get fired in time anyway, I just made that time a little bit shorter.” Draco smirked.

“You are such a jerk Malfoy, how dare you, oh and by the way grow a set, you weakling.” Ginny said back with venom.

“How dare me, how dare you more like? Talking to superiors like myself, you filthy little peasant.” Draco sneered triumphantly. Then his nose hurt really badly and he was on the floor clutching it, as blood came oozing out. It was broken, but to make it even worse boogers were coming
out of his nose and attacking him.

“Don’t say a word against my family Malfoy, have fun eating St Mungo’s food.” With that said Ginny walked away.

End Flashback

So I guess that is when he started liking her really, even though she bat-bogey hexed him, and broke his nose. He liked how she stood up for what she believed was right. Like how she always stood up to people who were picking on Longbottom. Draco spent endless hours searching in the halls for her after that, with no luck of course. Then one day he saw her and followed her down to the library, were she sat huddled next to the fire.

Draco strode across the library to Ginny.

“Weasley, what are you doing this is obliviously my seat.” Draco lied.

“Sure, that’s why you followed me here was it? So your seat isn’t it.” She said sarcastically.

Then voices from behind him signalled the dream team had just arrived.

“Oi, Malfoy get away from my little sister.” Ron’s voice bellowed.

“Yeah, get away from Ginny, Malfoy.” Harry copied.

“Don’t sweat, I was just leaving.” Draco said as he turned around to face the angry Ron.

“You better had, or else.” Ron threatened.

“Or else what Weasel?” Draco said.

“Or else I’ll beat you up.” Ron answered.

“I’ve already been beaten by a Weasley; I don’t want to get beaten up again.” Draco winked evilly at Ginny; he glided behind a bookshelf and listened into their conversation.

“What did he mean by beaten up again Ginny?” Ron asked.

“Do you remember about 3 weeks ago Malfoy had a broken nose?” Ginny said. Ron nodded, and Ginny carried on. “I broke his nose after he insulted me, then I bat-bogey hexed him as well, for good measure.”

After Ginny had stopped talking Ron was beaming. He patted her back and said through his and Harry’s hysteria and Hermione’s stifled laugh.

“How come you didn’t tell us sooner?” Ron laughed.

“Because you never asked.” Ginny stated and then began to laugh along with them.

End Flashback

Draco loved Ginny’s laugh, although he’d never admit it. His only problem was recently Potter started to like her. His and Ginny’s wars had been going on since third year, and now he was in his seventh year, so really this was his last year to tell her how he felt. But he wasn’t exactly brave, so it might have to be after she graduated Hogwarts, unless she was with Potter by then.

As he looked once more at the Gryffindor table his eyes locked with hers and she smiled at him. He wasn’t expecting that.

AN: Should I do the rest of the lyrics to the song, review please and tell me if I should. I only own most of the plot. And the song is called I wasn’t Expecting that by Jamie Lawson. I’m currently working on a Ginny/Sirius Marauders based fanfiction. That should be up soon. Thanks. That’s all folks! (For now anyway).

Chapter 2: Just a delicate kiss
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

AN I only own most of the plot. Lyrics by Jamie Lawson, the songs called I wasn’t expecting

Just a delicate kiss anyone could have missed I wasn't expecting that

He was still looking at her, even though she turned around and was talking to Potter, damn him! She was laughing at something he said, it made Draco sick when he followed her around, like some lovesick puppy. Not that Draco was saying he looked like a puppy; lovesick troll was what Draco thought of. But anyway the lovesick troll was constantly around Ginny, his Ginny. Well, not really his Ginny, but he liked to think of her as his.

No one had seen Draco so angry than the Halloween ball. It was about a week ago he was so livid that he snapped at everyone, he broke 5 glasses with his hands and people didn’t go near him. It was only today that he had calmed down, a week later! You see Ginny had gone with Potter to the ball. All he did was stare at Ginny all night. What made him angry was he was about to ask Ginny straight away, when he heard that the ball was going to happen. He seen her in the halls and was about fifteen feet from her, when Potter came running down the hall, pushed him out the way and asked Ginny to the ball.

To add on to that she was dancing in Potters arms and he looked like he was never going to let her go. Another thing was that Ginny looked like a goddess. She was dressed as an angel; she had the wings and everything. Over the summer Ginny had gotten a job at madam Malkin’s and learned to sew and take measurements. So Draco found himself going there very often. Meaning he now had nine new dress robes that he had no purpose in wearing.

That night he knew he had to ask her quite soon. But she was always playing Quidditch or with her friends, and then that lovesick troll was following her around. Would he ever get a chance, there was a reason he wasn’t in Gryffindor, he didn’t exactly have that much courage that’s why for the past four years he hadn’t asked her out.

Then he looked back at the table she was gone, and Potter was still there like the lovesick troll he was, watching her walking out of the Great Hall. Draco couldn’t exactly say he wasn’t lovesick about her either, but he was a lovesick puppy, not a troll like Potter, or maybe a dragon, yeah, he was a lovesick dragon!

He saw her long red hair flow gracefully down her back, as she was walking out of the Great Hall. He of course had permission to watch her, but Potter didn’t. Oh, no Potter was not allowed to even look at her, Draco was thinking he should make that a law; no other man was to look at Ginny.

He decided to follow her out of the Great Hall. She was walking towards the Black Lake, one of her favourite places; Draco knew this because he followed her out here multiple times. As she was laying still in the grass, her brown eyes filled with the gleam of the stars that she was gazing at. She heard him behind her. She didn’t even look before she said.

“Hello, Malfoy.” Ginny smiled up at the stars, Draco same to lay beside her.

“How did you know it was me?” he asked.

“You always follow me about don’t you? Don’t act like you don’t, because I turn around and your there.” Ginny turned to look at him, the first blush Draco ever had rose in his cheeks, turning as red as Ginny’s hair. Noticing this Ginny smirked his smirk, at him.

“Hey, that’s my smirk.” He almost smiled.

“But I make it work.” Ginny said teasingly back at him.

They both stared at each other for a long time. Then Ginny kissed him, very delicately, so delicate if you were not that close you would miss. He wasn’t expecting that.

Chapter 3: Did i misread the sign?
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

AN Lyrics by Jamie Lawson. I only own most of the plot.

Did I misread the sign?
Your hand slipped into mine
I wasn’t expecting that

Draco hadn’t seen Ginny in a week. He thought for sure that she regretted it. He knew that for a fact. Saint Potter was constantly with her even more this week. He walked her to and from classes into the Great Hall, out of the Great Hall. Quidditch Practice, Hogsmeade, even hanging around with her friends.

2 days after that kiss, Draco knew that if he was going to ask her, he needed to make sure she trusted him, he wanted for nothing else but for her to love and trust him, but Potter wrecked everything. So 2 days after the kiss Draco asked Albus Dumbledore if he could join the order to fight against Voldemort, to fight against his family. He’d be disowned for sure, but for her he’d do anything.

He wasn’t regretting it, even though she hadn’t spoken to him, as he sat at the Slytherin table, watching Ginny as per usual, but then he heard loud echoes from outside the Great Hall. Then the door burst open. There stood Bellatrix Lestrange, Lucius Malfoy, and about the whole Death Eaters. Then someone screamed, and Voldemort’s loud voice rumbled around the Great Hall.

Then the Death Eaters attacked. Seventh and Sixth years would stay and fight, the rest would go to the Dungeons, with some staff to look after them. Draco looked for Ginny; she was duelling against his aunt Bellatrix and his father Lucius. Draco ran over to Ginny, his aunt and farther looked disgusted, he didn’t care he only wanted Ginny to be safe.

Ginny and Draco won, Lucius and Bellatrix were dead but not from the killing curse, but from other spells. Then there were explosions, the Great Hall split in half, the walls were collapsing, dust was filling the air, it was impossible to see clearly. Draco escaped but he couldn’t find Ginny anywhere, the dust was way too thick.

The order showed up, when Draco and Ginny were duelling against Lucius and Bellatrix. They made it out. More Death Eaters showed up by the dozens dead students were hauled into the court yard. Everybody lined up, Potter was duelling against Voldemort. The duel was over Voldemort was dead Harry Potter had won.

After hours all that Draco could think about was Ginny’s body, underneath the rubble of the Great Hall. He’d gone through all the dead students that Ravenclaw Chang had died, that annoying Gryffindor with the camera Creevey, Ginny’s brothers Percy and Charlie and dozens more. They had started the repairs already. Next they were repairing the Great Hall, as they lifted the rubble, Draco stood by the doors. They lifted the rubble and Ginny wasn’t there. A huge weight was lifted from Draco’s shoulders.

Later that day he went to go sit by Ginny’s favourite spot by the Black lake. He’d looked everywhere for her, but he didn’t see her. Then all of a sudden a hand slipped into his. It was Ginny, he smiled so wide the sides of his mouth hurt. He wasn’t expecting that.

Chapter 4: You spent the night in my bed
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

AN Lyrics by Jamie Lawson. I only own the plot. Scenes of mild sexual nature.

You spent the night in my bed
You woke up and you said
Well I wasn't expecting that
It had been a week since Voldemort was dead; Hogwarts was back as it was before. Ginny was still upset about the whole ordeal. Draco never left her side, Potter was sad because Ginny didn’t choose him, he gave her a speech about how he’d always be there for her, through everything and he just wanted her to be happy, stupid scar head. Draco was still Head Boy and had his own quarters. Ginny and Draco studied a lot over the past week there.
Draco didn’t know what love felt like; he’d never loved anything before in his life. But he felt butterflies in his tummy when he was around her, even though it was risking his life even talking to her.

Yes her brother Ron was after Draco. Let’s just say if they are still together, he won’t be looking forward to visiting the Burrow. He’d had letters from the rest of the Weasley’s warning him if he broke Ginny’s heart he wouldn’t see New Years. Ron still didn’t approve though. The first letter was from Bill.

Just writing to warn to you that if you break my little sister Ginny’s heart you will have me, and the rest of the Weasley’s to answer to. OK. Otherwise congratulations and I hope you make her happy, and when you come to the Burrow for Christmas we will have a chat about your intentions with her.

Draco was shocked that was an invite wasn’t it to spend Christmas at the Burrow. He would probably be murdered just looking at Ginny there. He was dreading that interview mainly because he knew that he’d have them with all of the brothers and the farther. Oh God! After that were the twins, as soon as he opened the envelope orange bomb exploded in his face, dyeing his hair a Weasley colour, and his face. He spent ages trying to rub it off but it wouldn’t come off, he was lucky that he was in his private headquarters. He gave up after so long, and read the letter instead.

Did your new product work by the way? We have tested it before on Lee Jordan it worked, but not in red, please owl us back about it. It should fade in about twenty four hours. That’s not why we are writing this letter though it is because you are now as we have heard dating our little sister Ginny. Don’t you ever break her heart though because if you do, you will be the tester of all of our products, even if they are dangerous. We will be having a word with you over Christmas about the subject.
Fred and George
P.S Don’t mention the Christmas chat to Ginny. She’ll know we sent you this letter.

Draco hadn’t been out of his headquarters all day. He was starving, and was wandering would Ginny notice. Then there was a knock on his door. He opened it.

“Were have you been I’ve……” she stopped as she looked at him, “Twins.” She laughed

“Yeah, got there letters this morning.” Draco said.

“Oh, come here.” She said as she hugged him.

Then they broke apart and kissed…

Ginny woke up in Draco’s bed. And she said I wasn’t expecting that.
