Chapter 1: Aleksandar’s Perplexity
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

-- Aleksandar’s Point Of View --
[Bucharest, Romania. Fortnight before school starts at Hogwarts]

I made my way downstairs, hard-core rap was blasting, turned up loud enough to hurt my ears. I walked into the basement to find my twin Kistopher shooting some pool. One glace at him, and my suspicions from earlier today were confirmed.

“So, we have been assigned.” It was more of a statement that an actual question. Kristopher shut off the stereo, and glanced at me rewardingly, giving me a slight smirk. I grabbed the music remote and switched it to some calm piano music, Beethoven. I don’t mind rap, or anything, but I do have a liking for more peaceful music. Kristopher didn’t seem to mind the change in music preference.

“Yeah the usual- standard guarding stuff, maybe even some rest and relaxation if we are lucky.” He set up another shot, I let out a sigh, I had way too much energy.

“What’s our location?” I asked while picking up a cue stick, setting up my shot, my brother and I play pool using the mathematics of the game, it’s harder than just playing for fun, hence why we like it.

“Hogwart’s, we are looking after a certain young man, and the people he is closet to. They are being threatened by a wizard-who-has-repressed-childhood-issues-along-with-some-real-serious-comping-problems.” He said in all seriousness, I let out al little laugh at his analysis of the guy. Yes, I knew who he was talking about all too well. I took my shot and missed-growling slightly, Kristopher started setting up his next one.

“Hm, so the famous Lord Voldie-dork, is that you psychoanalysis diagnosis of why his is what he is, he’s depraved on account he is deprived?” Kristopher glanced right up at me, his eyes narrowing slightly.

“Bro, that guys issues have fucking issues.” He was right about that. “Oh, and the twins Zackaury and Naythaniel are backing us on this one.” He added, that was no shocker, I stopped playing for a second.

“This young man we are watching, its Harry Potter isn’t it?” I asked, Kristopher said nothing – his silence answered my question. We both knew James Potter when he attended Hogwart’s. Now I guess I should explain how we knew James, yet we don’t look a day past 25.

Kristopher and I, along with Zackaury and Naythaniel, are two sets of fraternal twins, that make up the ‘Sadidas’ . We are, to put it bluntly, highly trained vampire warriors, that (due to selective breeding) have frightening vast mental and physical stamina, plus, a remarkable healing rate. Examples, I could pick up a semi-truck if I had to. I can run fast, I have hit one hundred and seventy miles per hour. That is enough to blurr any human vision, so I guess it looks like we disappear and reappear. Vampires can dematerialize, but it takes work, and concentration. Mental abilities are levitation, and just simply moving objects without touching them. Mind control and hypnotizing are standard. But we can also mess with people’s memories, and can eavesdrop on a person’s thoughts.

But despite all that, people still have the most particular beliefs and misconceptions about us. Vampires are a complexly separates species from humans. No, we don’t bite people, or take blood. I won’t burn in the sun. I love the outdoors. But I’ll tell you one thing, I am ‘old’, Kristopher and I are 270 years old. Naythaniel and Zackaury are 192 years only I believe, so I have been around for a while.

Kristopher turned back on the rap music, and blast’s it, I get what he is feelings, along with his mood. We played the rest of the game in comfortable silence.

-- Hermione’s Point Of View --
[Hogwarts, England. Two Weeks Later]

I was having the worst time trying to find information on vampires. Harry, Rom and I were shocked to find out that Dumbledore had set up, having four vampires guarding the school. And more directly, guarding, Ron, Harry and I.

I have known vampires exist, but never had I met one before now. They were different from what I expected them to be like.

I had met them all, all four of them I mean. They were compelling and beautiful, but also absolutely terrifying. There was something ancient and primal, something very powerful –powerful beyond what I could comprehend...

“You have been going though books at least an hour now Hermione, what on earth are you looking so diligently for?” The voice shocked me out of my mental train of thought, startled I looked around, I saw the vampire...uh, Aleksandar I think, standing on the level above me, leaning against the railing, looking down at me. I felt myself turn red at the idea he had been watching me for the past hour.

“Don’t you have better things to do than watch me?” I snapped, out of embarrassment, not anger.

“Actually...no.” He said, then got this infuriating and utterly disarming smile on his face.

I swear, I only blinked once, now he was standing in front of me, smiling still, I looked at him dumbfounded, then I noticed that he was holding something, a old leather bound book titled ‘Vampires’. How did he? When? How? Huh?

“You know if you have any questions, you can ask me, I am somewhat of an expert on vampires, being one and all.” Now I was beyond mortification, I looked up into his eyes, and felt myself become calm. He gave me a slow, intense, head-to-foot once over.

“Hermione?” He said, in a low, deep, just purely male voice.

“Yes?” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

“You have no reason to fear me or any of the others, we are here to protect you, and it would be wise to remember that.” I couldn’t say anything to that, be he broke the eyes contact, yet the calm and relaxed feeling stayed. How did he do that? It wasn’t that I was scared of him, so to speak, but I respected him, respected what he is.

“Come on... let me walk you back to your…” He started to say when another vampire was standing right before us. The one named Zackaury.

-- Aleksandar’s Point Of View --

I was just about to escort Hermione back to the Gryffindor common room when Zackaury showed up.

I have known him for a long time, he has been in the Sadidas with me from the start, I care and love him as a brother can without reservation. If it came down it, I would die to protect him. But despite that, him and I have always had a... philosophical difference of opinion. And I find him at times to be prideful, moody, and hot tempered. His twin, Naythaniel on the other hand, is calm and reserved, it’s hard to believe they come from the same mother.

“Afternoon brother.” He greeted me, and then looked at Hermione. “Afternoon Hermione,” He added with a nod of his head. Aw yeah, did I mention his formality makes me want to kick his ass into the next turn of the century?

"Just wanted to ask if you wanted to patrol the surrounding grounds with me later?” He asked, my hostility dropped at the care in his voice. I smirked. “Sure thing.” I said, he nodded and was on his way. Hermione looked down at my wrist, and looked at Zackaury’s before he left. We had the same snake tattoo around our wrists – the snake was eating its own tail, a never ending circle.

“Does that mean anything?” Hermione asked, touching my hand, sending some interesting feeling through my system. When her skin made contact with mine, I felt, sweetness almost, running though me.

“Oh, it’s our symbol.” I responded, referring to the tattoo. She smiled, satisfied, we continued on our walk, and my mind was still musing over why I had gotten such an odd feelings when she touched me.

Authors Note; Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoy the vampires guys, they are going to make this year in Hogwarts very interesting.

What do you think of them?

Chapter 3: Zackaury’s Vigil
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

-- Zackaury’s Point Of View –

I stood on the roof top of Hogwarts, looking around at the grounds. I was patrolling tonight, alone, I wasn’t sure where my twin was, or the other two. I have been up here, watching in my vigil for hours, just scanning the area. My twin Naythaniel and I are Highlanders by birth, and this county side reminds me of my first home. I inhaled deeply, closing my eyes. My acute senses picked up on many things, one stood out among the rest. Human, girl, witch.

I looked over my right shoulder, my eyes, adjusting themselves into a spectrum not unlike inferred. I saw a girl walking across the courtyard, she was about to walk out into the back, near the forbidden forest. It took me a moment, but I identified her. It was the little sister of Harry Potter’s friend Ron, Ginny her name was I believe.

Before she had a chance to walk out the back, under the area that I was on. I jumped off the roof, falling the some-hundred feet down. Landing right in front of her, couched, one hand on the ground. I landed lightly, vampire abilities at their finest.

She jumped back, letting out a startled yelp, reflexively her hand flew to her chest as she tried to calm herself down. I could sense that her heart was working almost triple time, and her adrenaline was really soaring.

“Aw, I’m sorry; It wasn’t my intention to startle you.” I purred. That was a flat out lie. She glared at me, I felt her irritation grow.

I can be a real asshole at times, I know it. It’s not one of my most attractive qualities, hell, it was more of a compulsion than an actual personality trait.

“What do you want?” She questioned, not masking her annoyance. I drew myself up to my full height, crossing my arms over my chest.

She shrunk away from me, fear building in her.

I felt like I had been slapped. Normally fear wasn’t something that bothered me. I normally would like scaring or pissing someone off. But... not her.

I was overwhelmed by my sudden flow of emotions. I unfolded my arms, my temper and agitation diminished. She relaxed a little, no doubt reading my sudden change in body language.

“It’s late Ginny, what are you doing outside, alone?” I asked, my voice soft, like the way I would talk to a frightened animal. Now she was really taken aback, glancing down at her feet, she let out a sigh.

“I...I just wanted a moment, you know?” She looked up at me, It took me a moment to read her eyes, wow, she did have lovely eyes... ok, off track. Shaking myself. I got a grip on reality.

“Sometimes it’s good to get way, you can go, but I’m going to be near you, making sure you’re out of trouble.” I reasoned, being a guardian was my job first and foremost, I have to honor that. Surprisingly she gave me a smile.

“Would you like to walk with me?” She stammered.

Something emotional started to rise in my body, all though I’ll be dammed if I knew what it was. I beat it back.

“Yes.” I answered simply.

Ginny and I walked in silence, she felt wary having me near her- I could feel it, it was a normal response people have to our kind.

She stopped hear the lake, sitting herself down on a large rock; I had the sense she had been here before.

She just looked out into the darkness, and said nothing, nothing at all. So I filled in the silence.

“Long I stood there wondering, fearing doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before..” I recited; she turned to look at me, shocked. She recovered herself quickly.

“Edgar Allen Poe, the Raven.” She responded, standing up she took a step closer towards me.

“Tiger! Tiger bringing bright, in the forests of the night, what immortal hand or eyes. “She recited clearly, with no pause.

I felt my whole body react, was she challenging me? She was looking at me with a sly smile. I sensed no fear in her now, just playfulness.

I was stumped, this was taking me longer than it should have.

Looking down, she bit her lip, thinking. I took a moment to admire her again, she really was stunning. Finally it clicked.

“William Blake, Tiger, Tiger.” I answered, she gave me another smile.

“Very good.” She said, her voice gave away that she was surprised by that.

Only then my vampiric sense picked up on another vampire. This one wasn’t one of my brothers.

My fangs elongated and my eyes turned black and I growled. Now, all this I did involuntary, its instinct when a vampire feels threatened.

Ginny jumped back, letting out a little gasp, I didn’t look at her, I kept looking in the direction of where the other vampire was, and I didn’t want her to see me in this state. I said as calmly as I could.

“Ginny, it’s ok, there is something out there, please, go back to Hogwarts... please.” I said, she didn’t move, I turned around to look at her.

“Go now.” I barked, she then turned and ran from me, back in the direction of Hogwarts. I turned and advanced.

Who was this? I didn’t recognize them at all.

Chapter 3: Naythaniel’s Premonition
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

-- Naythaniel’s Point Of View –

It took me entirely off guard when I was walking down transfiguration hallway not expecting anything, let alone anyone at this time of night. Only to have Ginny Weasley come running around the corner at top speed, heading in the opposite direction. Reacting fast, I grabbed her by her waist, picking her up, spinning her around in a circle to slow down her sheer momentum, I could feel the fear and dread coming off her like waves against the shore. That was very unsettling. She was so frightened that she couldn’t even cry out in shock when I grabbed her.

“Ginny whoa, slow down, what’s wrong?” I questioned gently, I sensed she didn’t need to be interrogated. She must have gotten some semblance of a grip on herself because she answered the question.

“Zackaury…woods…maybe someone, something ….” She stammered.

I mentally added a few adjectives and came up with, “Zackaury is in the woods, and there is someone or something else there with him.” Judging by her frightened expression, that ‘someone else’ wasn’t a good someone else. I met her eyes; it was hard to do, because she wasn’t focusing very well on anything in front of her.

“Thank you Ginny, I’ll see what is going on, so go back to you room where it is safe.” I lectured, softly pushing her in the other direction. She ran away from me. Turning around, I broke into a run and in less than 5 seconds I was outside, in the ‘forbidden’ forest, right behind Zackaury.

“Zack, bro?” I cautiously asked.

“There was another vampire here, not in any of the recognizable clans I might add… female I think.” He responded annoyed.

“You sure you couldn’t tell the clan?” I checked it was disconcerting that he didn’t know what clan it was; there are thirty four clan’s that could be in this general area. But if it wasn’t one of them, then they were an outsider, and they could be trouble.

“Positive.” He relayed, turning to look at me, I was about to breech the topic of ‘only fools are positive’ but the other brothers made an appearance.

“What is going on here?” Aleksandar demanded, typical, sometimes his ‘pack leader personality’ as I call it aggravates me.

“He sensed another vam…” I started in but all of our attention was suddenly drawn to our left.

Kristopher growled. “Do they have some kind of an inability to stay where they are safe?”

No kidding, it was starting to seem like it, we all sensed that Hermione, Harry and Ron were taking a little stroll in the woods as well.

“Should we confront them, or should we…” Zackaury was not able to finish his sentence because Aleksandar decided for all of us when he ran to them; so I guess we’re going to confront them. Kristopher rolled his eyes tolerantly, as we all followed suit. We surrounded them; to say they looked frightened when we appeared in front of them seemingly out of nowhere would be a huge understatement. That fact didn’t bother me; it was better to scare them into staying where they were safe, then being soft and kind with them and have them wander off like this.

“Need a bit of fresh air do we?” Aleksandar asked, a little less then nicely.

“We…I…” Harry stammered.

“We just wanted to get out for a while; we really were just going for a walk.” Hermione boldly declared, stepping up to Aleksandar, invading his personal space.

Nothing could distract me from what was obviously happening right now, I saw in his eyes the moment Hermione talked, something shifted behind them. And his whole damn tough guy persona dropped and he was looking at her with the most adoring expression I have ever seen on his face.

I wanted to say something regarding that, but now was not the time or the place; I was still trying to grasp the fact that he was looking that way at anyone, let alone a human witch. Aleksandar let out a sigh, I exchanged glances with Kristopher and Zackaury, they saw it as well, we would all approach him about it later.

What happened next took place so fast that I almost couldn’t track what was going on. Aleksandar took a pace towards Hermione, talking about it being ok to take a walk but she shouldn’t be out here at night alone. Then something caught his attention just behind Hermione’s shoulder, roughly he grabbed her, putting her behind him. I watched in transfixed horror as a knife with what had to be a 12 inch blade, which obviously had been thrown, went into his left shoulder, with such force it knocked him off his feet.

-- Zackaury’s Point Of View –

Harry, Ron and Hermione had their wands out and ready to attack quicker than I thought they were capable of. Not that magic would help any.

Kristopher, being exceedingly good with weapons, has a way of hiding knifes on his person and you would never know he had them; the moment Aleksandar hit the ground, without missing a beat Kristopher pulled out his eight inch blade from the holder on his back, and threw it in the direction that the other knife came in. It didn’t seem to hit anything, whoever was there seemed to have left the area as quickly as they had appeared. However, my base senses told me that something was out there, but my eyes couldn’t see it and it was frustrating me.

Kristopher was rigid, eyes scanning; he is fiercely protective of Aleksandar (I think he is the oldest, they have never told us that detail). He was mad, an icy kind of anger that scared the hell out of me. He stood there, and no one dared moved. Aleksandar gasped, sucking in air. He was having trouble breathing. We needed to get that blade out of him as quickly as we could.

Kristopher gathered himself. “Whoever it was, they are gone now; let’s get back to Hogwarts…” He stated simply. Turning, he picked Aleksandar up in his arms as if he was a baby, and practically dematerialized he moved so fast.

“Come on, let’s get out of here, now” Naythaniel commanded.

We started making our way back to Hogwarts. We kept Ron, Hermione and Harry between us, protecting them from the unknown would-be assassin. After winding our way thought the woods we came to the clearing that opened up into the grounds outside of Hogwarts.

Right before we escorted them inside, Hermione, who had been buzzing with worry, turned to me “Do you think Aleksandar will be alright, I’m really worried about him?” She questioned. No one could have picked up on the hormonal reaction of anger both Harry and Ron had at her asking that. In spite of the circumstance, I had to stifle a smile.

Naythaniel answered her for me. “I’m sure he will be fine, he has had worse actually.” He cracked a smile; she didn’t seem at all comforted in spite of the honestly of that statement. I wasn't really in a mood for chit chat, so I high tailed it to the room that we had been given. Naythaniel joined me just moments after, no doubt saying good bye, and excusing me for my behavior, as usual.

Aleksandar was on the floor, the blade had been removed. His body could heal itself, but it hurts something awful. Kristopher was bringing over a cloth that had been dipped in vampire-synthesized type of pain killer. He could still feel pain, even when he was ¾ in a coma. I watched worried as Naythaniel reach out and touch his skin.

That’s when it happened, again.

Naythaniel has a gift of sorts (or a curse as he says) of sometimes having ‘visions’. In particular, his visions were almost always of the future. It’s rare for a vampire to possess this ability of foresight. In my opinion, it’s actually one of the main reasons why Naythaniel is so withdrawn and keeps to himself.

Naythaniel jumped back, as if Aleksandar’s skin burned, looking down, pain etched deeply in his face, he held his head in his hands. We knew better than to touch him or talk to him when he got like this. If I did, I run the risk of him attacking me. Theses visions take his mind somewhere…else, even if it’s only for a few seconds

-- Naythaniel’s Point Of View –

The vision hit me like an ice pick to the cerebellum, when my eyes cleared I looked at the scene in front of me in awe.

I was in the courtyard of Hogwarts, at least I thought it was the courtyard, sort of looked like the entrance courtyard.

People were standing around, teachers and students, comforting each other, what had there been a huge fight or something? Because the area around me was in near ruin.

My eyes were drawn to the ground. There Zackaury and Aleksandar were both lying there, Ginny was next to them, sobbing into a young man’s shoulder, who had his arms wrapped around her in comfort. I soon recognized him as the Slytherin student Draco, his blond hair, and gray eyes were a dead giveaway. Wait? Didn’t he hate Ginny and her family?

It took me half a second to realize that neither Zackaury nor Aleksandar were breathing.

I stumbled back in shock and disbelief, it’s true that vampires are immortal, but they still can be killed if you can figure out how.

As quickly as the image came it was gone. I found myself back in the room with my brothers, all of them very much alive. Still reeling I dropped down on my knees, holding my pounding skull in my hands. I could tell the others wanted to ask, but they knew better, they knew I reserve the right to tell anyone what I see.

Furthermore, the really jacked up thing about my visions is I know they take place sometime in the future, but I can never pinpoint when. Worse, I could hardly do anything to alter the outcome.

-- Ginny’s Point Of View –

I was sitting with my legs drawn up on the couch in the Gryffindor common room, just staring blankly into the fire. I felt a little bit calmer than I had before. I know Zackaury is a vampire, he can handle himself, yet I was still concerned for him. Although considering I told one of the other vampires what was going on, I’m sure they got it all sorted out.

My attention was diverted from my brooding when Hermione came bursting in, I turned to face her and saw that she was upset, almost crying. I immediately stood up and wrapped my arms around her neck. She hugged me back.

“Hermione what’s wrong?” Slight panic edged my voice.

Hermione chocked out an answer, “Aleksandar got hurt, someone threw a knife at him, and he looked really bad.” Truthfully the first thing I wanted to ask was if Zackaury was alright, I fear that asking it might offend her somehow. I continued to hug Hermione back; I didn’t know how to make her feel better.

-- Zackaury’s Point Of View –

[The Following Day]

I was the one designated to watch Aleksandar through the night. The moment that I woke up from a short nap I instantly felt that something was off. Glancing over at him my initial feelings proved correct.

His breathing was labored, and shivers racked his body.

“Aleksander…ALEK!” I cried dashing over beside him, his eyes were closed and he was out cold. I gently pulled back his eyelid, his eyes were dilated, and his pupils had a white sheen color to them.

I shook his sholders, still no response. I removed the bandage over his wound… it wasn’t healed over, I didn’t understand, it should have healed hours ago.

“Kristopher!” I cried in alarm, he was in the room next to mine. He came in quickly, the moment that he came into the room and saw Aleksander he cursed under his breath, doing as I did he checked his twin’s eyes. He looked horrified, tears seemed to be forming in his eyes, yet there was no shock in his expression.

“What’s wrong with him?” I questioned.

“He’s been poisoned with Millenniumtoxin.”

I blanched. Millenniumtoxic was one of the five deadliest poisons you could use against a vampire, the blade must have been dipped in it, which means someone knows about us.

“Wh..whats going on?” A stammering feminine voice came from the doorway. I didn’t even sense Hermione approaching, if I had I would have stopped her from coming in. Something told me this was the last thing that she needed to see.
