Chapter 1: New School Night
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Chapter One: New School Night

Hermione breathed in the familiar smell of the Hogwarts Express. She was finally in her last year, but that meant NEWTs year too. This year was going to be different, very different. She had set herself two goals for the year. One: Pass NEWTS. Two: Don’t be too stressed with NEWTS and spend more time with Ron and Harry. She was so stressed with OWLs; she hardly spent time with them. This year was going to be different.

“Oh look! It’s that dirty mudblood.”

Hermione whipped around. Draco Malfoy stood there, his face in his usual smirk with Pansy Parkinson clutching his arm.

“And look, it’s the twitchy little ferret ,” she replied coolly.

Malfoy’s smirking face contorted in rage, he tried to reply, but Pansy answered for him instead.

“How dare you call Draco a ferret! He is a handsome boy!”

“Oh really? I always thought he was a ferret. Ferrets are supposed to be wimpy aren’t they?”

Someone behind Hermione roared with laughter. She turned around to see Dean and Ginny. Dean was holding onto Ginny’s arm for support, as he was laughing really hard.

“Ginny! Dean! It’s nice see you guy again! Where are Harry and Ron?”
“They’re looking for a compartment. They’ll be out soon.”

Sure enough, the minute Ginny finished her last word, Harry and Ron appeared next to Hermione. She squealed with delight, and gave them humungous hugs.

“Let them breathe Hermione. Harry’s turning purple!”
They all laughed at Harry’s purple face before turning back towards Malfoy, whom they had forgotten about for the past five minutes.
“Goodbye ferret!” they chorused together.

The delicious smell of the welcoming feast food wafted into Harry’s nostrils as he walked past the kitchens. His favourite part of Hogwarts were the delicious feasts. He loved the shepherd’s pie and the wonderful treacle tart.

“Come on Harry, stop daydreaming!”

Hermione pulled Harry’s arm, and they went into the Great Hall together. Ron had run of to meet Lavender. Sitting near the end of the Gryffindor table, they faced the front where Professor McGonagall was placing the Sorting Hat onto the first first year.

Harry’s eyes scanned across the staff table. A new head was visible between the familiar faces. Though she was new, she was familiar, very familiar.

“Narcissa Malfoy’s the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher!” he said through gritted teeth.

“I bet it’s going to be just the Dark Arts in her lessons,” Hermione answered back angrily. “What was Dumbledore thinking? Making her DADA teacher.”

“He must be getting too old.”

Dumbledore stood up and had his usual odd speech, before hundreds of delicious food appeared on the plates.

When everyone had devoured the delicious food, Dumbledore stood up.
“Welcome back to the old students and welcome first years to Hogwarts. First years are warned that the forest outside the grounds is forbidden, unless you wish to meet some violent creatures.” Dumbledore’s stunningly blue eyes twinkled as he went on with the rules. “Finally let us all warmly welcome back Professor Lupin whom will be taking Defense Against the Dark Arts.”

Question marks erupted in Harry’s head. What was Narcissa Malfoy doing here then? But it was answered shortly by Professor Dumbledore.

“And let us welcome Professor Malfoy whom will be taking over potions.”

It hit Harry, Snape was banished from Hogwarts last year when he had attempted to kill Dumbledore last year, of course there needed to be a new potions teacher. Harry’s eyes wandered to the Sytherin table, and was very surprised to see Malfoy very sulky.

Before he even could register it happening, Dumbledore had waved them of back to their dormitories. He was going to follow the line of Gryffindors when Dumbledore’s voice boomed over the chatter.
“Could all prefects, the head boy and girl and Harry Potter stay behind.”

Hermione and Harry both halted and walked towards the staff table.
“Now, as you know, Voldemort is once more on the loose, and Hogwarts could be in danger any minute. We need you to patrol around the school each night; but we have the timetable of where and when you guys will patrol.”

Dumbledore handed around sheets of parchment.

“Now off you trot prefects, Mr. Potter and the heads please follow me.”

Hermione, Harry and Ernie McMillan followed Dumbledore into a small hallway with many portraits.

“As you register, Mr. Potter you will need every precaution so this year your dormitory will be behind Jacques the Jumping Juggler, and Miss Granger, Mr. McMillan, you are responsible for helping Mr. Potter if he is in trouble and you would be responsible for every thing that happens to him. Do I make myself clear?”

“Yes sir, but what are all the other portraits for?”

“Ah, you see, if any death eater or Voldemort himself ever manages to get into the castle, he or she would have some trouble finding Mr. Potter in this. So other professors or myself would have time to come to your aid."

Harry gave a loud yawn, and Dumbledore smiled at him.
“Yes, you would be very tired after a long day. The password is Banglo Balomi.”

The three clambered into the chamber behind Jacques the Jumping Juggler and gasped. It was a splendid place. People would have given anything to live in a haven like this. There were comfortable armchairs and couches, with bookcases filled with books all around the walls, and the room was warm with the blazing fire. The curtains were a soft material of white. There were three doors. One said Hermione Granger, one said Harry Potter and the last said Ernie McMillan. Murmuring goodnight, they trooped into their rooms.

Harry was so sleepy he didn’t even look around, but fell on his bed and went into his dreams.

Chapter 2: Thoughts

Chapter 2:Thoughts

Harry awoke with a start; someone was knocking on the door. He walked over, head feeling very heavy, and opened the door. Hermione stood there her hair not tied up, her robes were not put on, and only one shoe was on her feet. It was obvious that she was dressing as she made her way towards Harry’s room.

“Harry quick, we’re going to be late. We forgot to set clock on the clock tower last night, so everyone’s going to be late, but the heads of houses are going to every house, but if you don’t hurry up, we’re going to be late!”

“Let me sleep some more,” he said angrily.

“No you can’t Harry, potions is our first lesson.”

“Good, I don’t want to see ‘Professor’ Malfoy, and I want some more sleep.”

“You don’t want to lose points on your first day do you? Because remember, she is a professor, and she can take away house points.”

“Oh bother.”

Hermione and Harry met Ron at the entrance to the dungeons.
“Where’ve you been? I was waiting for you guys in the common room, but you guys never came back,” he demanded as they made their way to the back of the room.

“We’ll tell you later,” Hermione said quickly as Narcissa made her way in the room.

“Good morning everyone, as you all know I’m Professor Malfoy, which means, I’m Draco’s mother.” She looked towards Malfoy who was avoiding her gaze. “So if I see any of you hurting or bullying Draco or his friends, you shall get the harshest punishment.”

“Honestly, she doesn’t even try and conceal her favourism towards Slytherins.” Hermione said angrily, 45 minutes later. “And Syltherins’ the one bullying, not Gryffindors’.”

Both Harry and Ron nodded vigorously.

“So, now can you tell me why you two didn’t return to the common room last night?”

“Harry needs to have his own ‘protective’ common room and dormitory.”

“Then why didn’t you return Hermione?”

“It’s my ‘responsibility’ as head girl to ‘protect’ Harry. So I have to stay with him.”

“What! You’re sharing the same dormitory?” he sad wildly, looking from one to the other.

“No, we all get our own rooms Ronald. Use your brains,” Hermione said restlessly.

“Oh, I thought that yo-"

“Are you guys ever going to move, or do I need to curse your heads off?”

They whipped around, and Malfoy was standing there smirking his head off. Hermione suddenly stood rigged, feeling breathless. Suddenly very horrified at the fact that she was feeling breathless around Malfoy, she pinched herself, which brought herself to normal.

“I’ll like to see you try.”

Malfoy made a move to get to his wand, but Harry got there before him.

“One move, and I’ll hex you.”

Pansy Parkinson glared at Harry, and Malfoy was backing away.
“You heard what my mother said, you’ll get punishments.”

“Ah, look, he has to rely on his mummy,” Ron said scathingly.

Malfoy stalked off, with Pansy Parkinson tottering after him. The trio laughed openly, and made their way to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.

Professor Lupin came into the classroom, and placed his tatty suitcase on top of the teacher’s desk.

“All of you will know me as I taught you guys in your third year, but for those of you with poor memory-“ a couple of people laughed; and the professor smiled himself, but he went on as if no one interrupted him. “ I will introduce myself. I am Professor Remus John Lupin, and I will be your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. It is my responsibility to help you to pass your NEWTS……”

Hermione wandered way in her thoughts. Draco has changed. He’s hair isn’t sleeked back, it’s parted in the middle, and he’s grown taller, fitter. He’s so handsome! A horrified look spread across her face. Shaking her head vigorously, and trying to forget about her thoughts, she dragged herself to present; and concentrated on the lesson.

“Hermione, is something wrong? You seem……… odd,” Harry said worriedly.

“Wha- no, no I’m fine!” she said quickly.

Ron narrowed his eyes, not believing her.

“Guys, look, I’m just a bit stressed with work.”

“Work? We’ve hardly done any work,” Ron said sharply. “You’re not taking extra lessons again, are you?”

“No,” she said simply.

“Then where are you getting this ‘work’?” Ron bent his fingers as he said work.

“I’ve been reading books over the summer-“

“Is that unusual?” Harry asked Ron.

“Don’t interrupt me!” Hermione snapped. “So, I was reading, and I noticed that books on Harry’s past were a load of dung. Not one single bit of it’s true.”

“Whaddaya mean?”

“They’re making up things, just for the sake of it.”

“How?” asked Ron, bewildered.

“For example, in one of the books, they said that Harry saved the philosophers stone by smashing the Mirror of Erised, and killed Quirrell, as he made for the door. They also said that he went and saved Ginny from the Chamber of Secrets, he blasted Tom Riddle to pieces; and that in his third year he went looking for Sirius, and killed the dementors with the patronus charm, on his way; which is totally rubbish. Dementors can’t be killed with a patronus charm. I don’t know why they even published it.” Ron opened his mouth to comment on it, but Hermione cut across him. “In his fourth year, they said that he took on Voldemort and his Death Eater’s at once, they didn’t even mention Cedric, and Harry’s parents came out from Voldemort’s wand. IN his third year, it said that Harry ordered the centaurs t take Umbridge away, and that he battled all the Death Eaters all at once when all his friends had fallen. They didn’t even mention Neville was still with him; and they also said that last year, Dumbledore took him to a haunted house, and he attempted to stop Snape when he tried to kill Dumbledore, but he was stunned by Fenrir Greyback.”

“So?” Ron said.

“So, I’m writing some books on the truth.”

“Are you just doing it so you can get some fame? Because all the things you mentioned all seem to not talk about you.”

“How dare you Ronald!” she screeched.

With one last withering look at Ron, she stomped down the corridor.

Hermione walked down to the Charms classroom with Harry. She was angry with Ron for saying those hateful words. So he had gone to the Charms classroom with Lavender. She and Harry found a seat for two, near the front, so they could avoid Ron. Harry too had said that Ron was a idiot, and that he agreed with Hermione that she should write books on the truth. Harry’s word for this was everything, so Hermione was quite happy with Harry.

Tiny Professor Flitwick was standing at the teacher’s desk, waiting for everyone to come in. Once everyone had seated themselves, he started the class.

“Good morning everyone, this month, we’ll be revising on spells we’ve done the previous six years that would most likely be in your NEWTS……”

As Professor Flitwick went on, Hermione’s mind wandered again, but this time, she found that it was harder to forget about her thoughts. Draco’s image kept popping into her head. No matter how hard she tried to forget it, she just couldn’t.

“Hermione! Hermione!” Harry’s voice popped into her thoughts.
She looked around to Harry and saw he had a deep look of concern on his handsome face. She looked around to the class, and saw several of them were laughing, no doubt at her.

“Professor Flitwick asked you to perform the summoning charm. He said it was bound to come up in NEWTS.”

“What? Oh okay, but what do I summon?”

More people behind her laughed.

“The cookies on Professor Flitwick’s table."

“Oh! Accio cookie!”

One of the cookies from Professor Flitwick’s table zoomed into Hermione’s outstretched hand.

“Good! Miss Granger here surely has mastered the summoning charm. Now Mr. Finnigan, lets see you try.”

45 minutes later, Harry and Hermione made their way out of the charms classroom.

“Hermione, what happened to you during Charms? You never daydream during class.”

“I don’t know what’s got into me Harry. I was daydreaming about Draco Malfoy.”

Chapter 3: Revenge
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I'll come up with chapter 4 ASAP!

Chapter 3: Revenge

Harry’s mouth dropped into a perfect ‘o’.

“You’re joking.”

Hermione regrettably shook her head.

“I don’t know what’s got into me. I just randomly started daydreaming about him.”

Harry stared at her for a full minute before saying, “come on. Let’s go to our common room. We can’t let anyone hear this, or you’re done for.”

Back in their common room, they sat down on the comfy couches.
“What were you thinking about him?”

“I was thinking that he was handsome, and his hair was better looking and ahh... what am I going to do Harry?”

“Don’t worry; I think it’s just the stress from your books.”

“Yeah, I guess.”

A tawny owl dropped a letter, and package in front of Hermione. She curiously and opened it. When she finished reading, she gave a loud squeal of obvious delight. She lifted her head up from the parchment, face glowing with pride.

“What does it say? I haven’t seen you like that for ages!”

Hermione handed Harry the parchment, and he it was a letter from the publishers:

Dear Miss Hermione Granger,

We are pleased to say that your book ‘The Truths of Harry Potter’ has been published. We have already made 100 books. The first 100 books have been sent to Flourish and Blotts. Depending on the income of the book, we will decide whether to publish anymore. Great to associate with you, and once again congratulations!

Joshua Spicer

“Congratulations!” he exclaimed when he finished reading.

She ripped open the parcel, and a gold and silver emblazoned book fell onto the table. Before she could take in the information, a second tawny landed in front of her with today’s Daily Prophet.

“Can I see this?” Harry asked. It was like his daily routine. Having that he received nothing everyday, he asked Hermione for her Daily Prophets. Hermione nodded while scanning through her book.

“Hey, look at this!”

Hermione’s name was on the front page headline. Hermione took one glance at it, and snatched it from Harry’s grip.

“Hermione Granger, Trying to Shine.

Hermione Granger, known throughout the seventh years in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as the best student of the year. However, her modesty has deceived her, and she can’t stand a bit of showing off. She has always been best friends with the famous Harry Potter, but knowing that he is famous throughout the whole of the wizarding world, she would want some fame. Who wouldn’t?”

Hermione looked up from the paper, she seemed close to tears, but she continued anyway.

“Hermione Granger published a book- The Truths of Harry Potter’. This book contains many hints that she was the heroic one, and not Harry Potter.”

Hermione’s voice cracked, she stopped, and burst into tears. Harry pulled her into a hug, and she sobbed into his shoulder. He looked at the newspaper again, and saw at the bottom of the page, it said Rita Skeeter.

“It’s that Skeeter woman again,” he said angrily.

Hermione lifted up her head up, her face was red and swollen from crying. Harry couldn’t help but notice, that she was very pretty.
“I’m going to let her see. It’s my revenge; she’s going to wish she never wrote those horrible things.”

Early next morning, Hermione and Harry both woke up at the crack of dawn. Meeting in their common room, they made their way towards the owlery. Harry was holding a piece of parchment with a letter to the Department of Magical News. Hermione was holding a photo of a beetle- Rita Skeeter’s animagus form.

“Here, let me see the letter again,” Hermione said anxiously.

She helped Harry write the letter, but had checked it through at least forty times. She read the letter through, twice before handing it back to Harry. Her brow was furrowed into a perfect ‘v’.

“I think it should be fine.”

“It is fine, and I think I’ll seal it now; or you’ll never let me seal it,” he said logically. “It’s fit for sealing!” he added hastily as she gave him a look.

Finally reaching the owlery, they went and found Hedwig. They found Hedwig resting under her wings, between to school barn owls. Attaching the letter with the photo, to Hedwig’s leg, Harry sent her off.

“Do you think it’ll alright?”

“Hermione,” Harry moaned, “I thought you were only like this after exams. Or haven’t I known you long enough to know that you do this when you’re nervous?”

Before Hermione had a chance to answer, the bell went.

“Omigosh! We’re late!” Hermione gasped.

Tearing down the stairs and into their common room, they grabbed their bags. Hermione dashed down the portrait hall with Harry bringing up the rear. Going up the stairs three at a time, they finally managed to get to the Transfiguration classroom.

“Ah, Potter, Miss Granger. You two are late,” Professor McGonagall said in a stern voice.

“Sorry professor, we were just sending letter, and lost track of the time.”

“Well I hope that you will be able to keep track of the time next time, or I will have to take points off. It would be a good idea if you took your seats.”

“Thank you professor.”

Ignoring some sniggering students, Hermione and Harry seated themselves near the back.

“Now, as I was saying, you would need at least four NEWTS, to be able to graduate from Hogwarts. Anyone who fails will need to read another year of NEWTS. I expect everyone of you to pass NEWTS, and I would be most ashamed if no one can receive exceed expectations in Transfiguration……”

Once again, Hermione found her mind wandering. No matter how hard she shook her head, Draco’s face stayed in her mind.

“Harry, it happened again. I was day dreaming about Draco again.”

“You know, you’re the one who need occlumency lessons.”

“It’s not a joke,” Hermione snapped.

Harry rounded to Hermione.

“You and I both know that you’re worried about the letter, and if Blackstrip will believe us, but we need to keep calm, and you’re not helping yourself by thinking about that letter.”

“I guess you’re right. Come on, we’ve got homework to do.”

Pulling the groaning Harry, Hermione made her way towards their common room.

A tawny landed in front of Hermione with the mornings Daily Prophet. Disregarding her letters from her parents, Hermione unscrolled the Daily Prophet and disappeared behind it. Suddenly her head poked out from the top of the newspaper, face glowing. She handed the paper to Harry, and he eagerly read the front page.

Rita Skeeter, best news reporter for the Daily Prophet, has been revealed that she is an unregistered animagus. “I was ever so astounded to hear that she is an animagus,” says Hepter Blackstrip, head of Department of Wizarding News.

It was all Harry needed to read. He looked up to Hermione’s glowing face. She had tears welling in her eyes.

“Hermione, do you cry for everything?”

“We did it Harry. We did it!” she was jumping up and down in glee.

She gave Harry a big hug, before skipping of to Arithmancy. She arrived just in time, and made for the front seat. She was happy and gleeful throughout the whole lesson, and found that she didn’t daydream the slightest.

“You know Harry, Ron, I think today is the best day of my life.”
“Why?” Ron who had come up to Hermione and Harry, had apologized to Hermione, was forgiven by Hermione immediately.
“I first got my revenge, then I got my named cleared by you, and I didn’t daydream about Draco at all!”
“What! You daydreamed about Malfoy!”
“Well if you didn’t say those hurtful words, and was with Harry and I, you would know the full story, but since you said those words, you might as well know that I daydreamed about Malfoy, but got over it.”
“Oh,” Ron grumpily said.
“I’ll tell you later,” Harry whispered in his ear.
Looking marginally more cheerful, Ron followed Harry and Hermione towards the dungeons.

Draco was sitting on the comfy couch in the Slytherin common room as Zabini Blaise walked in.
“What have you been doing these days? I haven’t seen for ages,” he asked.
“I’ve been with Matilda Nottingway.”
“She’s a Hufflepuff.”
“You’ve been going out with a Hufflepuff?” asked Draco, astounded.
“Just for a dare. I dumped just then. Bet you won’t do that. You’re too scared of sneering from other Slytherins.”
“Want a bet?”

Chapter 4: A Christmas Present
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Sorry for the wait between my chapters. I was unable to get to the laptop. Well, here’s my fourth chapter presented to my lovely readers!

Chapter 4: A Christmas Present

Draco decided to ask Granger. She was a mudblood for one, and she defiantly beat Matilda Nottingham. It was the Christmas holidays, and the prefects and heads had to stay for a Christmas ball. Granger was head girl and he was the Slytherin prefect- a perfect chance.

“Hi Draco!” Pansy bounded into the room.

Knowing that he would have to start his plan now, he replied in his meanest voice,” go away! Stop sticking to me like that. It’s stupid and annoying.”

Pansy burst into tears and ran up to the girl’s dormitory.

Hermione and Ginny were in Hogsmeade shopping for dresses for the Christmas ball. Ginny was excitedly jumping ahead. Bounding from one shop to the other, but Hermione was lagging behind. She was never interested into shopping. She would have preferred to be sitting on a comfortable couch, reading a book; but she did need a dress for the ball.

“Hermione, come look at this!”

Ginny was pointing at a shop window. Walking over, Hermione saw a beautiful dress of rich, deep purple, with sparkling amethysts made into a shape of a flower. Ginny bent down to see the tag more clearly.

“Six galleons! Mum only gave me five!”

Hermione looked in her purse. “I’ve got ten galleons. I can lend you one galleon if you like.”

“No you keep it. I guess I’ll just get another one. Come on lets go in.”

The bell tinkled as they walked in. It was very warm, and scented with the smell of roses. Ginny pulled Hermione to the dresses. Scanning through the dresses with her bottom lip sticking out. Finally she stopped at a pretty dress of pale pink.

“3 galleons. Perfect! Come on Hermione, what are you getting?”

“I think I might get the one on display. It’s very pretty.”

Walking to the counter, she asked the lady to take off the dress for her. Waiting for Ginny to pay for her dress, she walked around the shop. A shiny object caught her eye. Walking over, she saw that the glint was coming from the gems on a beautiful bracelet, necklace and a pair of earrings. She squinted to look at the price.

“Three galleons.”

She called the lady and asked her to wrap it up for her. She paid the money, and walked out of the shop with Ginny, clutching her purchases.

“What else did you get Hermione?”

Hermione showed her the bracelet, necklace and earrings.

“They’re beautiful,” Ginny said breathlessly. “You always get the good things.”

Hermione smiled at Ginny’s pouting face.

“Come on, let’s go back. It’s freezing out here.”

Nodding in agreement, they made their way towards Hogwarts.

Finally in the warmth of Hogwarts, they both breathed a sigh of relief.

“I’ll meet you outside your dorm.”

Hermione skipped all her way to her dormitory. She was very happy with her purchases today, and was quite confident that she would be beautiful in them. She reached the great hall, and was walking through the door leading to her dormitory when a hand grabbed her arm. With great force, the owner of the hand pulled her around. Hermione came face to face with Draco Malfoy.

“What do you want Malfoy?” she said automatically.

“Why do you go through there? The Gryffindor Common room is up there, don’t you now where it is?”

“I know full well where the Gryffindor Common room is.”

“Then why do you go through there?” He pointed to the door at the end of the Great Hall.

“Why should I tell you?” And she walked off, surprised that she had actually made through a talk with Draco Malfoy.

She quickly dumped her products on the floor of her dorm, and quickly opened the portrait to let Ginny in. Letting Ginny in, told her about the conversation, and they spent the rest of the time that day talking about the possibilities of how it could have happened.

Early next morning, Hermione awoke to find a stack of presents on the foot of her bed. Ginny, who had slept in her room, was still sound asleep on the couch. There were presents on the edge of couch addressed to Ginny as well.

“I love Hogwarts magic.”

Ginny woke with a start. Rubbing her eyes, she looked at her stack of presents.

“Prezzies!” she jumped out of the couch and started ripping the topmost one.

“Wait for me!” Hermione bounded out her bed, and went to her presents.

Sitting on the floor with Ginny, they started opening their presents. There was a present from her parents- a new book from her favourite muggle author, there was a present from Harry- a hooded purple cloak. There was a present from Ron- a fluffy lilac cap. Hermione thought that the cap was probably part of the cloak, but she appreciated it anyway. The next present was from Ginny, it was new pair of diamond studded high heels.

“Thank you! It’s beautiful!” Hermione squealed to Ginny.

“No probs! Thanks for this!” she held up a pair of ruby earrings.

“That was no prob either!”

There was the normal package from Mrs. Weasley, but the net package made her yell, and drop it.

“What happened Hermione?” Ginny bounded to her, and gasped.

On the package was a label which said: To the prettiest girl in Hogwarts. Draco Malfoy.

“Ginny, what do I do?”

“Here, I’ll do it.”

Ginny opened the box, and thousands of flowers erupted from the box. Though Hermione hated Malfoy, she had to admit that the flowers were really nice magic. Ginny was staring, apparently transfixed.

“Hermione, what’s going on?”

“I don’t know. I seriously don’t know.”

Ginny looked into the box, and pulled out a piece of parchment. She read it through and handed it to Hermione.

Dear Hermione,

I know that you would probably think I am up to something. But I swear, cross my heart, that I mean no harm. I know that I have been a git in the past, but I hope you will forgive me. Merry Christmas!

Hermione snorted, and scrunched up the parchment.

“As if!”

She smiled reassuringly at Ginny who was looking anxiously at her.

“I would never forgive him. He’s the world’s largest git.”

Ginny breathed out a sigh of relief.

“I thought you were going to forgive him then.”

“You thought I would forgive just like that? Just a letter saying sorry? As if!” she snorted again.

Hermione scrunched up the parchment, and threw it into the already burning fireplace. Both Hermione and Ginny stared at the piece of parchment crumpling away into the fire.

Thanx for reading! I think it’s my best piece written yet! I loved the bit in the shop. It sounds so mysterious! But you might think not. So plz review- you know it’s important to every writer!

Chapter 5: At the Christmas Ball
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Wow! My longest chapter yet! Probably the best one too! It’s also the chapter where everything starts shaping. But you’ll have to wait to read the next chapter for all the action.

Chapter 5: At the Christmas Ball

Ginny and Hermione made their way to the Great Hall for lunch. They were extremely hungry after their snowball fight out in the grounds. Fortunately they didn’t get wet, but they were chattering, and shivering from head to toe.

“Excellent! It’s the Chinese food day,” exclaimed Ginny excitedly. “I love Chinese food day!”

Pulling the closest bowl of fried rice towards her, she spooned a whole spoonful, and ate it in one bite.

“Dis is dummy!”

“I beg your pardon?”

Ginny swallowed and said,” This is yummy.”

“Ohhhh…… I think I’ll try some honey chicken and spring rolls today.”

Hermione pulled the plate with honey chicken and spring rolls towards her, and picking up the chopsticks (she learnt how to use them when she and her parents went to Hong Kong when she was nine). Hermione bit into the spring roll, and the delicious juice squirted into her mouth.

“Mmmmmm…… This is delicious!”

“Hermione, Malfoy’s staring at you.”

Hermione turned around, and saw Draco Malfoy staring at her. When he saw her staring at him, he grinned at her. She shivered violently and turned back to Ginny.

“What’s he playing at? He’s gone all nice and stuff.”

“Hermione, is there something going on between you and him?”

“Ginny!” gasped Hermione. “How dare you say that!”

“Sorry! I was just suspicious. He is suddenly so nice.”

They both burst out laughing.

“Quick, lets finish our lunches. There’s only…” she checked her watch, “ about two hours left; and we’ll need at least an hour and a half to get ready.”

They finished their lunches and quickly went to Hermione’s dorm. It was bigger and closer so they could help each other with their clothing.

“Banana Soda.” The portrait swung back, and they clambered through the portrait, and walked through Hermione’s dorm.

“Oh shit. I forgot my purchases.”

“Here, accio Ginny’s dress, shoes and jewelry!”

The dress, all her shoes, and jewelry flew through the open door, and landed on the floor.

“Thanks Hermione!”

“No probs!”

They dressed into their beautiful dresses, and Hermione went to her walk-in-robe to get her new diamond studded shoes.

“How do you think these will look with my dress?” she asked Ginny, holding out the shoes.

“That’ll look beautiful !” she emphasized the last word. “Should I wear the earrings you bought me?”

“Yeah, that’ll look nice. Help Ginny! I haven’t thought about what I’m going to do with my hair.”

“Hmm… here, come over here. I think I know what to do.”

Hermione walked over and Ginny sat her down in front of the mirror. First she washed her hair with the aguamenti charm in the basin she conjured up. Then she dried it up. After that, she sleeked it with a tricky charm, and finally she brushed it into a loose, but tight bun on the side.

“There we go!”

Hermione looked at herself in the mirror, and gasped.

“Ginny, thank you sooooo much! I look so beautiful! What are you going to do with your hair?”

“I think I’ll let it down,” she said thoughtfully.

“Good idea, do you want me to wash your hair and stuff?”

“I was waiting for that suggestion!”

Half an hour later, they were dressed in dress robes, and their best jewelry. Hermione in the purple dress, diamond studded shoes, and the necklace, bracelet and earrings she got from the shop she got her dress. Ginny was dressed in her pale dress, Hermione’s present for her, and a pair of her shoes.

“Ginny, I just remembered that the ball doesn’t start until six, there’s still two hours left. There would be much more time if we didn’t have a late lunch.”

“Hermione, is there something wrong with your memory? You need to be down there in your dress robes to hours early to set up the Great Hall, then you need to stand at the door, to welcome the guests.”

“Oh, yeah right! Honestly, I’m losing my marbles. What are you doing down here earlier then? It’s only the job for Head Boy and Girl.”

“I decide to ask Professor McGonagall if I could come and help. It would be very boring to stay in my dorm until six.”

“Come on let’s go.”

They rushed out of the portrait and into the Great Hall. All the house tables had vanished, and were replaced by four round tables. Two in each side, and they were covered in white heavy cloths; and on top of the cloths were white silvery satin. On each table, there were six glistening, shining plates, with ivory knives and forks; but on two tables, there were seven sets of these marvelous cutlery. In the middle of the tables was a giant dance floor.

“Ah, Miss Granger. I would like you to-“ she stopped dead, having noticed Ginny. “Miss Weasley, what are you doing here?”

“Oh, I’m so sorry Professor. I was just wondering if I could help. I would be very bored, having that all my friends have left for Christmas and Hermione is my only friend left at Hogwarts, but she will be down here.”

“Very well, the more the faster we get things done. Now, can I get you two to conjure up some goblets for each set of cutlery? Bowls, and spoons would be greatly appreciated. After you are done with that, can you put up some decorations around the hall? It is rather plain at the moment. Now, where has MacMillan got to?” She walked of briskly, no doubt going to find Ernie.

Hermione and Ginny set of to work. Hermione went to the right side of the hall, and started conjuring up goblets, spoons and bowls. While Ginny stayed on the right side and did her magic. A while later, Ernie came in, practically shooed in, and started conjuring up some balloons. The balloons erupted from his wand, and floated up to the ceiling. Then he conjured up a banner flashing in all sorts of colours that said: Welcome to the HOGWARTS CHRISTMAS BALL!

“Very nice Ernie!” said Hermione

“Thanks!” he replied, blushing.

Meanwhile, Professor McGonagall conjured up chairs around the tables. About an hour later, the Great Hall was unrecognizable, and the three was staring immersed at their work.

“Very good!” They jumped at the voice. Professor Dumbledore came gliding into the Great Hall. He was followed by The Weird Sisters- the known famous wizarding band, Celestina Warbecks- a famous witch singer and The Heroine Harpers- a very famous wizarding choir and orchestra.

The Heroine Harpers, who were performing first, started setting up their instruments.

“You have outdone yourselves Minerva, Miss Granger, Mr. MacMillan and Miss Weasley.” Professor Dumbledore didn’t seem at all surprised to see Ginny here. “I Think there will be some very early arrivers, so would you three,” he gestured Hermione, Ginny and Ernie,” please stand at the door, to welcome our guests?”

“Yes, sir.”

Hermione, Ginny and Ernie made their way to the door. Hermione was sweeping, Ginny was walking gracefully, and Ernie was, for some reason, marching pompously like a soldier. There were no people coming until half past five. They were the professors. The second lot of people were the Hufflepuff prefects. Then there was the Gryffindor prefects, the girls were very surprised to see Ginny. Then the Ravenclaw prefects came in, the girls were giggling a lot. The Slytherin prefects didn’t arrive until six fifteen. They finally came, and Hermione, Ginny went over to sit with Parvarti and Padma. Professor Dumbledore stood up and boomed over the talking voices.

“Good evening prefects and Heads. Hogwarts this year has decided to set up a ball for all of you. I believe some of you have been at the Yule Ball. So you will know how to use these menus.” He lifted up a little menu. “For those who do not know you very simply look at the menu, and say what you want from the menu to the plate very clearly. Like so” He looked at his plate and said,” roast chicken!” Roast Chicken appeared on his plate.

Dumbledore beamed around the room.

“Tonight’s ball will have a few rules” A few people groaned. “Firstly, for the ladies, if a gentleman asks you to dance, we will not be accepting no. Secondly, you shall not be permitted to ruin any of our beautiful decorations made by our Head Boy and Girl, and Miss Ginny Weasley. Lastly, have fun!”

On the last word of his speech, everyone picked up their menus, and shouted to their plates. “Lamp chops!” “Mashed potatoes and gravy!” and so on. Hermione was enjoying her pork chops until Ginny said, “Hermione, he’s staring at you again.”

She whipped around to see Draco Malfoy staring at her again.

“Oh will he just stop doing that! It’s so annoying!”

“What? What happened?” Parvarti asked.

“It’s Malfoy. He keeps staring at Hermione,” Ginny said before Hermione could say anything.

“And it’s freaking me out!”

“Look, Hermione, that’s probably what he wants,” Padma said knowingly.

“I guess.”

They ate the rest of their dinner while chatting about random stuff. Soon, people were finishing their dinners. Once again, Dumbledore stood.

“Now that we are all fed and watered, will our Heads please open the dance? People will be free to join in after.”

Hermione and Ernie walked to the dance floor and began the dance. Sooner or later, people were joining in. When the song finished, Hermione walked back to her table. Ginny was dancing with Dean, and the Patil twins were dancing with a Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw prefect. She sat down on a chair watching the dancers. Draco Malfoy walked over and held out his hand.

“May I have the honor to ask this lovely lady to dance?”

“Go away Malfoy,” she snapped.

“Ouch! I won’t take no as an answer. Professor Dumbledore agrees too.”

“Oh fine.”

He took her hand and leaded to the dance floor. Many people were looking flabbergasted at them. It was a known fact that they were arch enemies, and would not go 1 meter close to each other. When the song ended, Hermione tried to detach herself from him, but he clutched to her, and would not let go.

“Let me go! I’ve already danced with you for one song!”

She tried to escape, but he clung onto her tightly.

She tried to pull his hand of her, but he swung her into his arms.

“Malfoy!” Hermione pushed his chest, but she found herself not using all her might. Before Hermione could say anything, he bent his head, pushed his mouth onto hers. It was a very rough and quick kiss, but Hermione was stunned.

This time, Hermione did use all her might, and pushed Malfoy away from her. He didn’t protest, or say anything. Hermione stormed out of the hall. She didn’t wait for Ginny; she couldn’t see Ginny anywhere anyway.

Hermione stormed out of the hall into the Portrait Room.

“Banana Soda.”

The portrait opened, and she climbed in. Tears were cascading down her cheeks. Plopping herself down onto her bed, she took out a thin book from her bedside drawer. It was a rulebook she had written herself for herself in her first year.

The Rules of Hermione Jean Granger

I, Hermione Jean Granger, will set this rulebook in order to prove I would never ever do the following. If I break any of these rules under special circumstances, I would still not forgive myself easily, but will punish myself on level 1 on the punish meter. If I break the rules purposely, I shall punish myself on level 5 of the punish meter.

1. Never ever break friendship with Harry James Potter, Ron Bilius Weasley or Ginny Molly Weasley.
2. Never help go to Malfoy’s side
3. Help Harry with the ‘Defeating Voldemort’s’ plan if he wishes for help
4. Never bully first years
5. Never ever love or LIKE Malfoy
6. Never become Malfoy’s girlfriend
7. Never EVER kiss Malfoy

She stopped; she had broken one of her rules, not under any circumstances. She kissed Malfoy, she didn’t do it, but she still had kissed Malfoy. The book dropped from her lap, and onto the floor.

She cried, and cried, and cried. She couldn’t stop. She was ashamed of herself.

“Hermione? Ginny’s head poked around the door.

“Hermione! What happened? I just went to the bathroom, and when I came back, you had gone!”

She walked over, and put a comforting arm around her.

“Ginny, oh, Ginny! I- I- I- I- I kissed Malfoy!”

“You did not!”

“I did! I didn’t want to. I was just sitting there, and he comes up to me and asks me to dance. I didn’t want to of course, but you know how Dumbledore said we had to say yes; but after that song, he wouldn’t let go, I tried to escape; and then, he kissed me!” She started crying again.

“Don’t worry, it was just a mistake.”

Ginny patted Hermione’s arm, but she wouldn’t stop crying. Hermione just sat there, crying into Ginny’s shoulder for the rest of the night.

Hermione pushed his chest, but she found herself not using all her might. Isn’t that sweet!
I know! I know! I copied ‘Now that we are all fed and watered’ from the books, but it is a useful sentence.
This is my favourite chapter. Defiantly. Plz review. You know it’s important to every HP Fan Fiction writer!

Chapter 6: Forgiveness and Letters
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Sorry about the wait! I was really busy with school work. We were given heaps and heaps! I was sure I wouldn’t get them finished!

Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 6: Forgiveness and Letters

Hermione awoke, and found herself still in the dress robes she was wearing last night. Ginny was sleeping deeply in Hermione’s couch. Hermione got up and tiptoed to her closet, walking the carefully, trying not to wake Ginny. Unfortunately, she accidently bumped her knee on the post of her bed. It would have alright if she hadn’t howled in pain.

“Huh? Hermione? What happened?”

“No, no, I’m fine! I just accidently bumped my knee.”

“Oh, I thought there had been an attack or something!”

“Come on, let’s go and have some breakfast.”

They go dressed, and went out to the Great Hall. BY the time the post owls had already arrived, Ginny had stuffed herself with toast. An owl landed in front of Ginny, and stuck out its leg. Hermione got the letter of, and handed Ginny it. Ginny swallowed and opened it. Her eyes scanned the letter and groaned.

“What’s up?”

“Here,” she handed Hermione the parchment.

Dear Ginny,

I believe that the Christmas Ball has passed, and that there would still be some days left of the Christmas holidays. Can you please come back for the Christmas holidays.

“So, are you going home?”

“Well, I’ll have to. I’m sorry Hermione. I really want to stay with you, you know. But when mum says she wants me to go back, she means it. I don’t want to die of young age!”

“Er, I get the message.”

Hermione walked aimlessly around the corridors. Ginny left in the morning, so now she had no one to talk to. It was really boring, so she decided to go to her favourite place- the library. She turned the corner, and shivered. This was one of the gloomiest corridors in Hogwarts.

She screamed because someone grabbed her arm. The person who grabbed her slapped a hand over her mouth.

It was Malfoy.

“What do you want this time Malfoy?”

“Look, I didn’t mean to kiss you at the ball. It’s just that I was really frustrated that you didn’t want to dance with me.”

“Yeah, likely story.”

She tried to tug his arms off her, but was unsuccessful.

“Please! Can you please forgive me?”

“Fat chance,” she said.

“Please!” his voice was sounding desperate. “I really want you to forgive me.”

“Yeah, forgive you? You’re dreaming.”

“Look, I know you hate me for calling you a mudblood, and the other things I’ve called you. I’ve been a downright git.” Finishing his sentence, he punched himself. “I really want you to forgive me. I didn’t mean to you know, the others sort forced me.”

“You expect me to believe you?”

“I swear I didn’t want to. I, Draco Malfoy, swear to Hermione Granger, that I had no intention of calling her names.”

Hermione’s heart slowly melted. She was stunned at his words, but she wasn’t a hundred percent sure she wanted to forgive him. She didn’t even have a chance to think, because his lips attacked hers again.

Hermione tried to detach her from him, but he held onto her tightly. She tried punching him, but it was no use. Her moves, slowly stopped, she noticed that he was a great kisser. His lips weren’t dry like Viktor’s lips. They were slightly damp, but they weren’t too wet. Slowly she kissed him back.

About a minute after, they detached themselves from each other, staring at each other.

“Does that mean I’m forgiven?” he grinned sheepishly, very unlike himself.

“I have to go,” Hermione smiled herself and walked off.

Well, this is it, I’ve forgiven him. There's no going back now.

She came into the library, and she breathed in the familiar smell of the Hogwarts library. She went to the nearest aisle of books and started scanning through the books.

Half an hour later, she emerged from the library with a week supply of books. She went into her room. She had the whole place to herself having that Ernie also left after the ball.

“Great. I wish I haven’t finished all my homework now,’ she said to herself.

She was still deciding what to do when she heard a tap-tap-tapping sound. She turned around to see Hedwig tapping at the wall. Hermione walked over and opened the window. Hedwig fluttered in, and landed on the coffee table. She stuck out her leg with two letters attached.

“Thanks Hedwig.” She stroked Hedwig softly. Hedwig hooted and flew out of the open window.

The two letters was from Harry and Ron. She opened the one from Harry first.

Dear Hermione,

I hope you’re well. Both me and Ron are very well. We have had a really good Christmas. How was yours? I hope Malfoy isn’t bothering you any way. If he is, send an owl to me and Ron, we’ll think of something to get him back!

Write back soon!

P.S I hope you liked the Christmas present I gave you. Mind you, it was supposed to be a cloak and cap, but Ron took the cap and said he couldn’t find anything.

Hermione finished the letter, grinning. She knew the cap was part of the cloak. Hermione opened the second letter, which was by Ron.

Hi Hermione!

I hope you enjoyed your Christmas. I enjoyed mine greatly! I loved my presents. Though I wish Lavender gave me something more useful. Anyway, I hope Malfoy isn’t bothering you anyway. If he does, give him a peace of your mind.

Write back!

Hermione finished the letter with an exasperated sigh. Every letter he wrote to her was like this. So enthusiastic. Both letters were similar so Hermione only took out one piece of parchment. She also took out a quill and a pot of ink. With everything she needed, she began writing her reply.

“Hurry up Harry!”

“Ok! I’m trying!”

Harry was thinking furiously. He and Ron were playing a game of chess. Ron, as usual was winning, so Harry was thinking furiously for a plan to win. Unfortunately he was interrupted by an owl tapping on the window.

“Oh! What is it?” he said angrily.

“It’s an owl. I think its Hermione’s reply.

“Oh!” Harry’s gloomy face immediately changed into a bright, happy face.

He bounded over to the window, and opened the latch. The owl flew in, and landed onto their chess board, which messed everything on it.

“Look what is done!” Ron complained.

“Don’t worry! We’ll just start another game!” Harry said brightly.

He ripped open the letter he had detached from the owl.

“Hey look! It’s a reply from Hermione!” he exclaimed.

“Don’t be so excited! It’s just a reply.”

“Here, I’ll read it out to you:

Dear Harry and Ron,

My Christmas was great! Apart from something I’ll tell you guys when you come back!
What does Hermione mean, why can’t she tell us now?”

Ron shrugged and gestured for Harry to keep on going.

I know you will be thinking why I’m not telling you now. It’s because, I don’t really want anyone to know this, and in case this falls into the wrong hands. Ginny know, but I don’t want anyone else to know.

Malfoy hasn’t been bothering my anyway, so I don’t need to give him a piece of my mind Ron! I also loved your presents. I knew the cap was part of the cloak!”

At this point, Ron’s ears turned pink. Harry smirked at him, and continued with the letter.

“I can’t wait until you guys come back! There’s only two weeks!

“Can we start a new game Harry?” Ron asked as soon as Harry finished the last syllable.

“I don’t really feel like it. Plus, I want to write back to Hermione. Ask Ginny.”

“Blimey Harry, I thought you liked chess. Oh well, I’ll ask Ginny.”

He went out of the room to get Ginny. Harry got a piece parchment, a quill and a pot of ink.

Dear Hermione,

I’m glad to hear that Malfoy hasn’t been bothering you. I can’t wait to see you again. Even if it that means starting school again! I’m glad you liked our presents.

Hope you have fun for the rest of the holidays. Stay away from Malfoy.

Hermione walked down the corridor to the library. Three days had passed after Harry’s last letter. She was really bored, and read a whole week worth of books. She entered the library, and went to a random shelf. She pulled out a random book, and read the title.

“The Mystery of Mysteries, what an odd name. Oh well, it seems interesting.”

She reached out for another book, and pulled in down the shelf.

“The Mystery of Mysteries. Huh?

She looked across the shelf. They were all ‘The Mystery of Mysteries. She opened the first book, and read the first sentence. It was the same sentence as ‘Hogwarts: A History’.

“There’s defiantly something wrong,” she said out loud.

“Very clever Mudblood,” said a snide voice behind her.

She whipped around to see Malfoy standing there, hands in pockets. Hermione’s face turned into snarl. She thought Malfoy had meant it, she was tricked. Again.

“I thought you were sorry.”

Malfoy burst out laughing. He doubled up with laughter. Hermione’s hands clenched into a fist, and she grinded her teeth.

“Hermione, you are soooo funny. Can’t you even stand a joke?”

Hermione relaxed.

“Why are you so mean Malfoy?”

He clutched his heart, with a painful expression on his face.

“Ouch! I’ve been calling you Hermione all this time, and you still call me Malfoy?”

“Fine then, Draco.”

Well, I hope you like it!

Plz review! (You know it’s important to me!)

Chapter 7: Civilized, Making Out and Returning
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I’m so sorry for the wait! I wenton camp, and I’ve been really busy with graduation.
Well I hope you can enjoy chapter 7!

Chapter 7:Civilized, Making Out and Returning

They emerged from the library, chatting at random. Draco decided that this would be the best time to ask Hermione out. He thoght about kissing her again, but decided against it. Asking’s the best he thought silently.

“Hermione, can you go out with me?”

Hermiones facial expression turned suddenly very alarmed. I don’t think so Draco thought bitterly.

“Er, Draco, I highly think that this isn’t exactly the time to talk about this.”

“Er, okay. Im sorry.”

They walked back to Hermione’s dorm in awkward silence. Before Draco and Hermione even reached the Great Hall, the world was turned upside down.

“What the hell!”

“Don’t panic! Harry told me about something like this after he competed in the third task of the Tournament. Just take a step forwards and I think it would be alright. I’ll try first.”

Hermione took one step forward, and Hermione suddenly was standing the right way, but to Draco, she was upside down. Draco placed one foot in front of him, and he landed on a heap on top of Hermione.

“I’m so sorry! I didn’t know that’ll happen!”

“No need to be sorry Hermione.”

She tried to push him off her, but he slipped on something slimy on the ground; and their lips banged against each other. Draco finally he managed to stand up again, and he helped Hermione up.

“Whew! Thank Draco.”

“No need.”

“I think, Peeves, you can come out now,” Hermione said angrily.

Cackling, Peeves zoomed out from behind a suit of armour, and flew off, still cackling.

“I really wish that he can disappear,” Hermione said sadly. “Um, now that we’ve got him out of the way, I’ve got to go and reply Harry’s letter. Well, bye!”

“Bye!” Draco tried his best to sound cheerful, but he knew he was failing greatly with his plan. “Granger’s too hard. No one has ever rejected me,” he said silently to himself.

“You seem to be in a right fix Dracol,” Blaise was looking at him, smirking. “Or have you just no been trying?”

“Shut up.” Draco hated Blaise when he said he wasn’t trying.

Draco went back to his dormitory and sat on his bed. That mudblood, will be the first, and last person to reject me. I swear I will make her say yes.

Hermione was sitting on her bed, staring into space, unbelieving what Draco had said. She rejected him straight away, but now when she thought back at the matter, Hermione realised that she was regretting it. Draco was slowly becoming nicer, and he hadn’t called her mudblood, or even Granger, for two months.

Hermione, will you go out with me? Will you go out with me? Hermione said this through over and over and over in her head.

She finally made up her mind. She stood up and yanked open the door, slightly harder than normal. She crawled through the portrait, and bumped straight into Draco.

“Oh! Hi! I was just coming to find you Draco. I need to tell you something.”

“Hey! Me too!”

“ You can go first.”

“No! No! You can go first!”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah! Sure!”

“Um, I just wanted to say,” Hermione’s face was bright pink. I just wanted to say…… I just wanted to say, that I agree to go out with you.” Hermione’s face turned bright red. “ Er, what did you want to say?”

“Um, I think you’ve just answered what I was going to ask.”

“Oh! Um……”

There was a pregnant pause between them.

“Um……” Hermione broke the silence betweenthem. “I just wanted to do something.”

Hermione stood up on her toes, and kissed Draco on the lips.

“Hermione, why do you always hang out in the library?”

Draco was swinging on one of the chairs in the library, apparently bored.

“Books on’t bite you know. You can learn everything.”

“I’m surprised you haven’t read the whole library. You’ve been readig since the first day you came to this school.”

“Here’s another person who hasn’t read Hogwarts: A History . If you’ve even bothered to read Hogwarts: A History , you will know that the Hogwarts library can never be read entirely by any student. Just say, someone read the whole library, it will refill itself with books. Hey! Where are you going?”

“Getting something.”

Draco returned a short while later with a book in his hands.

“Yep, exact wordings. I really admire you. How do you memorise these passages?”

“I just do, I don’t know how I do it.”

Hermione and Draco were sitting together at the Gryffindor table, receiving a lot of surprised looks fom some people. Though they have been doing this for some time, a lot of people still stared at them. Especially the seventh years they knew the hatred going on between the two for the past six years.

“Draco, have you ever wondered what we are going to do when everyone comes back tommorow?”

“Well, seeing that everyone whose stayed for the Christmas holidays, has seen us like this, I say we just go on.”

“But what’s Harry, Ron and Ginny going to say? They’ll freak out!”

“Fine, how about we still act like enemies, but we can secretly meet at night.”

“What about the people who stayed for Christmas? What will we say?”

“I’ll have to be really rude to you Hermione. I’m sorry.”

“I guess,” sighed Hermione.

“You need to make sure Potter never catches you when you’re coming out to me at night.”

“I never said I’ll meet youat night.”

Hermione burst out laughing at Draco’s face.

“Honestly, you’re the serious one now Draco.”

“Since when, have you started to joke?

“Hmm… let’s think, since I started going out with you.”

“Harry! Ron! Ginny!”

Hermione was running across the platform of Hogsmeade Station. She flung her arms across Harry, before giving Ron and Ginny a hug too.

“How have you been? I’ve missed you guys so much!”

“Me too Hermione. Has Malfoy been bothering you?”

“That’s good! Very good!” piped up Ron.

“But what if I say I’m ging out with him?”

Hermione doubled up with laughter at the sight of their faces.

“Come on guys! Can’t you guys even take in a joke?” Hermione looked around at them, their exressions were very anxious. “What’s up?”

“Nothing. It’s just that I haven’t heard you joke for six years.”

“Well I guess times change. Come on, I need a laugh as well.”

“Come on guys, we’re blocking the traffic,” said Ginny.

“It’s great to be back,” said Harry.

“I think I can see Lavender! See you guys later!”

“Honestly, he’s getting too enthusiastic!”

“Come on, we need to put down our trunk.”

“See you guys in the Great Hall!”

Ginny walked towards the stairs, while Hermione and Harry walked through the Great Hall, chatting feverently.

“How was your holidays Harry?”

“Great! It was excellent!”

“Excuse me! Coming through!” A familiar voice echoed around the Great Hall. Hermione and Harry whipped around and saw……

“Elaine!” Hermione squeeled and ran towards Elaine Ebonsky- a former student ofHogwarts. She was in her final year when Hermione started her second year. She only knew Elaine because she was one of the helpers for Madame Pomfrey, and she was the one helping Hermione after she was ‘unpetrified’. So after a while, they became really good friends. Hermione finally got to Elaine. “What are you doing here?”

“Have you wandered what you were going to do for the rest of the year without a Arithmancy teacher?” replied Elaine, grinning.

“Are you teaching Arithmancy? Oh my god! That’s awesome!”

“Hermione, calm down,” Hermione jumped, she had forgotton totally that Harry was still standing there.

“Harry! I need to introduce you to my friend from our second year. She was the girl helping me after I was ‘unpetrified’. Her name is Elaine Ebonsky.”

“Hello! No need to ask who you are! Plesure in meeting you, Harry Potter!”

Hope you’ve enjoyed!

Chapter 8: Telling Them the Truth
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I am so sorry for making you guys waiting so long! I’ve been extremely busy with my graduation speeches etc.

I thought about this chapter before I’d even written chapter one!

I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 8: Telling Them the Truth

“Good evening everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas holidays.”

At this point, Hermione glanced across the room, making sure no one saw. Draco was staring at her direction too. They grinned quickly, before turning back.

“It is heartbreaking to announce, that our lovely Arithmancy professor, Professor Vector, announced to retire on the last week before the Christmas holidays. I am sure that she has told her lovely Arithmancy students. So I am very pleased to announce our new Hogwarts professor. Professor Elaine Ebonsky!”

A loud cheer and applause erupted from the Great Hall, as Elaine stood up.

“It’s great to be back at Hogwarts! I left Hogwarts just a few years ago. I hope that you and I will all be very great friends. If you have any problems, please do not hestiate to come to me. I will be very happy to help you out. If you have any questions, I will give you best answers. Thank you!” The applause erupted again, and Hermione was one of the loudest of all.

At the end of the feast, Hermione hung back with Harry, Ron and Ginny, waiting for Elaine.

“That was a brilliant speech!”

“Thanks! I was quite nervous.”

“It went brilliantly! I have to more friends to introduce you to. Ron Weasley and Ginny Weasley.”

“Hello! Hey, weren’t you the one who was taken into the Chamber?” she asked Ginny.

Ginny’s face turned just as red as her hair.

“Yeah,” she mumbled really quietly.

“I think that you were prefectly brave. There is no need to be embarrassed,” Elaine said in a slightly pompous manner.

“Thank you, Professor Ebonsky.”

“Call me Elaine. I feel really awkward getting called that.”

“I think you guys need to go to bed now, I don’ t to take points off you guys on the first day back from the Christmas!” Her face transformed into a strict expression.

“Rightio! Goodnight!”

“See you tommorrow!”

Ginny and Ron went towards the Grand Staircases, whilst Harry and Hermione went into the portrait room, to their dorm.

Fernream Gasfeam. Professor McGonagall told me,” Hermione said knowingly.“Well, goodnight Harry, see you tommorrow.”

Hermione walked into her spacious room. Since the start of the school year, she had never slept somewhere else. She loved this room. With the lovely soft bed to sleep on,the giant walk-in-robe for all her clothes, the big study desk to put her school books on, the very high bookcase that reached the ceiling for her large supply of books, the comfy sofa to read on and the white marbled bathroom with a large spa to relax in.

Hermione tied her hair in a loose bun, and had a quick shower. Then she got into bed with Beyond the Darkest Magic If Voldemort was searching for Harry, she, Hermione Granger, as Harry Potter’s best friend, will have to know about Dark magic and help Harry. The minute she read the first paragraph, she was absorbed into the book.

“Harry, you look dreadful! What happened?”

“I stayed up late studying for our NEWTs; it’s only a week away. I need to study hard to graduate from school.”

“OH MY GOD! I totally forgot about NEWTs! I forgot that they made the exams a month earlier. I’ve been so busy with looking up spells to repel Dark magic! I haven’t been myself lately; I should’ve started studying last term! I need to do some studying before our first lesson. Bye! See you guys later!” And she was off, running to the library. Again.

Harry, Ron and Ginny sat down and ate their breakfast.

“Honestly, Hermione is getting a bit…” Ron put a finger up to his ear, and twirled it around.

“Ron! You know Hermione is a study freak, and you know she starts studying two months before exams,” Ginny said supportively.

“Oh look, the post is here!”

And sure enough, owls were swooping down everywhere. A handsome tawny landed in front of Harry; but it was addressed to Hermione.

“I’ll go give this to her,” said Harry.

Harry detatched the note from the owl’s leg, and walked down the aisle. It was a very small note. So Harry guessed it was from someone at Hogwarts. WHAM! Harry was concentrating so hard on the note that he didn’t see the pillar in front of him. Harry dropped the note, which landed on the side of the actual note. Harry saw the note as he picked it up.

Meet me in the NorthTower at 12:00.

Harry’s head started spinning even more. Why did Malfoy want to meet Hermione in the North Tower at midnight? And why did he write Draco? Harry accidently walked right past the library, and had to walk back.

Harry found Hermione in the area with the Charms books. Her head was bent so low into the book Harry was surprised to see that her neck wasn’t cracked. She was also so absorbed in the book that Harry had to call Hermione’s name several time before she finally lifted her head up.

“Oh hello Harry. I’m sorry, but I really need to do some studying before the first lesson.”

“I was just going to give you this letter.”

Harry handed Hermione the letter.

“Um, I accidentally saw the massage, and I was rather surprised.”
Hermione looked down, and Harry saw her face contort in rage. Before Harry could even say something, Hermione stormed out of the library. Harry quickly followed Hermione. She was outside the Great Hall, yelling at someone Harry couldn’t see. He walked closer.

Harry was even more alarmed than before. He never saw Hermione lose control before. Now, Hermione was pulling out her wand. Harry quickly went up, and put her arm down.

“Don’t, if you’re going to hex him, you’ll get in trouble, and he’s not worth it.”

“Yeah, Granger. If you’re going hex me, you’ll get in trouble. Or do you think I’m worth getting in trouble?”

This made Hermione explode again. It took Harry several moments to calm her down; but he was too late, she already punched him in the nose.

“Great move Potter, or else this Mudblood will have a lot to put up with.” His hand was put over his nose, which Harry supposed was bleeding, because blood was splattering down his robes. Malfoy cast one last look over at them before running into the dungeons.

“Wow Hermione. I’ve never ever seen you lose control like that.”

“It’s just the fact that I hate people who do things to me to make me lose my friends.”

Hermione slowly opened her door, making sure it didn’t creak. The minute she was out of the portrait, she ran along the corridor. Hermione checked her watch it was 11:58. The North Tower was silent. Hermione checked her watch again it read 12:00.

“Draco?” she whispered the name loud enough for anyone in the room to hear.

“I thought I was a ferret, and I’m trying to break your friendship with Potter and Weasley?”

Hermione jumped at the voice. She turned around and saw Draco walking our from the shadows.

“Draco! How’s your nose. I’m so sorry!”

“My nose is fine. It’s not as fragile as you think it is.” His voice was much colder than usual.

“Draco, I’m so sorry, I had no choice. I had no choice. I had to convince Harry we weren’t going out, or it would tricky to explain. But you had your faults too. You shouldn’t have said you were worth getting in trouble for. And you did call me a mudblood too”

“You could’ve at least hit me less harder. And I only called you a mudblood because you called me a ferret first. ” His voice was still very cold.

Obviously he wasn’t going to forgive her easily. So she went up to him and kissed him. After several moments, they broke apart.

“Will you believe that I didn’t want to hit you and call you a ferret?”

“Yeah, I do. I'm sorry I called you a mudblood.”
“It''s fine. It was m fault I called you a ferret. Draco, I think we should tell Harry and the others about our relationship. I don’t want to hit you again just to keep this relationship quite.”

“You know what Hermione? I’ve been thinking about that too. I don’t want to get hit again.”

“When should I tell them then?”

Hermione plonked herself down at the Gryffindor table. She decided to tell them in the morning. She wanted to get over the bound-to-come (yells, disbelieving expressions etc.).

“Hey Hermione.” Harry greeted her cheerfully. A pang of guilt hit Hermione. She was going out with her best friend’s worst enemy.

“Hey guys. I’ve got something to propose to you.” When no one looked up, she added, “it’s important.”

Ginny looked up from the toast she was playing with, her eyes full of concern. Ron, who was sitting with them for the time in months, went on chewing his cornflakes. Trying to ignore the distracting crunching noises, Hermione took a deep breath and began slowly, choosing her words carefully.

“I don’t know how this happened, it is like as if I’d lost my marbles, but when I think now, I don’t fell like I lost my marbles…”

“Hermione,” Harry cut her off. “ Can you just quickly say what you have to say? You’re worrying me now.”

Hermione took another deep breath, and said very quickly,” meanMalaregoout.”

Harry and Ginny shared quizzical looks before looking at Hermione. Apparently bewildered. Ron was still eating his cornflakes.

“Me and Malfoy are going out.”

Harry chocked on his cornflakes while Ron stared at Hermione mouth opened, a new spoonful of cornflakes halfway towards his mouth.

“You are not!” gasped Ginny.

Hermione shook her head slowly. She told them the story. How Draco asked her to dance the Christmas ball, and then kissed her. How Ginny left and he told her the feelings he had towards her; and everything that happened between them during the holidays. By the time she was finished, Harry and Ginny were gaping at her (Ron was still staring at her with his mouth open and his spoon was still half way towards his mouth).

After what seemed like hours of silence between them, Harry finally spoke in a extremely small voice.

“Don’t Hermione.”

“Don’t what?”

“Don’t go out with him.”
“And why, may I ask you would I not go out with him?”

“He’s going to hurt you.”

“Harry, he wouldn’t. He loves me.”

“So just a word of ‘I love you’ you believe a foe of yours for six years, an you won’t believe your friend for six years? Or have I never been your friend?” Harry’s voice was dangerously quiet.

“Of course you’re my friend, and you always will be, but he did seem very honest.”

“He could be acting.”

“You’re just jealous Harry.”

“JEALOUS! HE’S GOING TO HURT YOU! HE’S JUST PLAYING WITH YOU!” Harry had lost his control and he was standing up. A few people looked in their direction.

“JUST BECAUSE HE’S BEEN MEAN TO YOU FOR THE PAST SIX YEARS, DOESN’T MEAN HE WON’T LOVE ME!” Hermione was also standing up, and she was also yelling. They received a few more curious looks.

“He didn’t want to. He had no choice, or people would’ve been suspicious.”

“’I was forced.’ YOU BELIEVE THAT?”

“Then you’re no friend of mine.” With that, he stormed out of the Great Hall, leaving Hermione and Ginny staring after him.

Ron, who seemed to come back to his senses, gave Hermione one last sweeping look before chasing after Harry.

Hermione sat back down. She felt tears leaking out. She hadn't expected it to go so wrong. Ginny, seeing the tears, put a comforting arm around Hermione.

Harry stormed out of the Great Hall, not knowing where to go. He was so angry at Hermione for being so stubborn.

“Harry! Stop!” Ron’s voice suddenly boomed out from behind Harry.

Harry did not obey; he continued to walk as fast as he could.

However, he was no match against Ron. His legs were longer than his, and before Harry even knew what was happening, Ron’s and clasped onto his arm.

Harry tried to escape from his grasp, but Ron was too strong for him.

“Harry, stop! Will you just listen! I know how you feel…”

Harry stopped. Leaving ringing silence between them.

Chapter 9: The Truth Behind the Apology
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Finally I got a new laptop! That means I can write more often, and get chapters published more often!

Anyway, I hope you can enjoy Chapter 9 of Truth or Dare.

Chapter 9: The Story Behind the Apology

After what seemed like hours, Ron finally opened his mouth.

“Why didn’t you say before? She wouldn’t have anything to do with Malfoy-“

“But enemies,” Harry interrupted angrily.

“Yeah, but enemies, if you told your feelings you had towards her. You guys might even be going out now!”

“What about you Ron? If we went out, you would be left out. Especially since you broke up with Lavender.”

“How did you know I broke up with Lavender?” Ron asked with a tone of amazement in his voice.

“You sat down with us instead of her. Normally, you would sit down with her. If you didn’t break up with her why else would you be sitting with us?” Harry finally grinned. “So, any reason?”

“As a matter of fact, yes. Luna seems lonely.”

“Is it out of pity?”

“No. Look, why can’t you forgive Hermione?”

“You can be so thick sometimes. How would you feel if Luna started going out with someone? Would you forgive her easily?”

“Yes. When you really like someone, you would want that person to be happy, and you wouldn’t be selfish by wanting that person all to yourself. Though you would want them to be with you, but sometimes, it can’t be achieved.” Ron ended with a sigh.

Harry stared at Ron, flabbergasted.

“If you’ve got a sister who knows everything about it, you will know too,” Ron said quickly, seeing the look on Harry’s face. “So, now are you going to forgive Hermione?”

“Fat chance. Come on Ron. I will if she’s going out with anyone else, but seeing as it’s Malfoy…” Harry ended his sentence, not exactly finished, but there was a sort final tone his voice.

“Don’t you know? Girls don’t give up on their boyfriends or crushes easily. Look at Ginny.”

“You’ve got a fair point there.”

Harry and Ron spent the rest of the morning before their first lesson chatting about ‘stubborn girls’.

Slytherins and Gryffindors had DADA, Potions and Charms together. Draco noticed that during all of those lessons, Hermione sat by herself. She didn’t put up her hands up as much, but stared down at her books. Slightly worried about this, Draco tried to pursue her after Potions, but got stopped by his mother, who turned out to be asking him, if he was being well fed without his usual sweets she sent him.

After Defence Against the Dark Arts, Lupin called him back to clear up the mess he made while trying to defend off the Forngether. Finally after Charms, he had the chance to go find Hermione. Draco found Hermione sitting at the foot of the Grand Staircase.

“Hermione, did something happen?”

“I told Harry, Ron and Ginny about you know, our relationship.”

“How did it go?” Draco asked, very eager to hear their reaction.

“Ginny was perfectly fine with. She was a bit shocked at first, but she got over it pretty quick. Ron, I don’t know, but Harry is the problem. He went a bit hysterical, and we had this giant fight. “

“You know, I’ve always wondered, why does Potter always have to ruin things? Always!”

“He can’t help it. It’s he’s nature. Too easy to frustrate.”

“Don’t worry Hermione. I swear, by the end of the week, he’ll be saying sorry. If he doesn’t use his chance, then I’ll make him. I’ll give him my chance.”

Three days had passed since Draco told Hermione that he’ll make Harry say sorry. Nothing happened. Every time they passed each other, Harry would walk right pass her. As if she was wearing an invisibility cloak.

However, on Friday evening, Hermione was sitting by the fire, reading quietly. When Harry came through the portrait, and sat opposite to her.

“Hermione? Can you stop for a while?”

Hermione looked up from her book.

“What do you want?”

“I just wanted to say, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I was out of my mind. I think Malfoy truly loves you. I think he even changed a bit for you. If he hasn’t, I know he will”

“Um, okay. I accept your apology by the way. I know you didn’t mean to say that.”

“Thank you for forgiving me. I deserve to be never forgiven.”

“Not that harsh! If you’re never forgiven, who’s going to check your homework? Surely Ron will be on the same line?”

“Draco! You’re amazing! How did you do that?”

“Do what?”

“Make Harry forgive me. You didn’t do anything against the school rules did you?”

“The how did you do it?”

“Ah. It wasn’t as simple as I thought. It cost me this.” Draco pointed to a burn on his arm.

“Oh my gosh! Are you okay Draco?”

“I’m fine. You’re worth it, I wouldn’t do it for anyone else.”

Harry walked out from Transfiguration, gnashing his teeth furiously together. He had earned himself extra homework. Ron walked beside him, equally annoyed.

They walked turned around the corner, and saw Draco Malfoy talking to Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle. Harry darted behind a suit of armor, and pulled Ron behind as well.

“Do you think Potter will apologise to Hermione? I’m really worried about her. Not herself these days. If I don’t hear from Hermione that Potter has said sorry to her in three day’s time, I’ll hex him.”

“I never knew you would do anything for that Mudblood,” said Blaise

Pernaticlous! ”Giant banana shaped like things erupted all over Blaise’s face. “That’s for calling my girlfriend a Mudblood.”

Harry turned towards Ron.

“You know, I think I owe Hermione an apology.”

“You never know, that ferret could be acting.”

“Yeah. I’m going to keep a close watch over him for the next few days.

Harry tailed close behind Malfoy under his invisibility cloak. He was walking very fast. Harry had to make sure he didn’t make any noise on the stone floor as he walked.

“Potter is going to be dead today.” Draco said to Crabbe who was huffing and puffing behind him. “Three days, no apology.”

“Did you want me ferret?” said Harry taking of his cloak.

“As a matter of fact, yes. I’ve come to give you a little late Christmas present.

The spell bounded of the shield in front of Harry. Malfoy ducked just in time.

They both ducked. The spell nearly hit Harry by inches.

Petrificus Totalus!

Draco, unaware of this sudden attack, felt something burn on his arm. He flicked his wand, and it Harry, who thought Draco was injured and could duel no longer. Harry froze on the spot.

“See? That’s what you get for not apologizing to my girlfriend, and for not trusting me. And come to think of it, her.”

Draco turned to go, but as he walked, he flicked his wand back, and cast the counter curse on Harry. But Harry still stood on the spot. Draco Malfoy didn’t go out with Hermione because he wanted to hurt her feelings, but he had true feelings for her.

“Oi!” Harry ran down the stairs. “Malfoy!” Draco turned around, he was wearing his usual smirk again. “Do you truly love Hermione? Will you do anything for her? Even change yourself to a different person?”

“If she wants me to do that, yeah. I want her to be the luckiest girl in Hogwarts ever.”

“Yeah okay, listen. If I ever hear something about you doing anything to hurt Hermione’s feelings, you will never ever be alive to walk out of this castle. Is that understood?”

“Then that means, I’ll always be alive then?” He turned around, and went into the dungeons.

I hope you enjoyed. I’ll get the next chapter published ASAP!

Yes, I made up Pernaticlous.

In the meantime, please let me have some reviews to read, so I can then probably make this story better!

Chapter 10: Potions and Detention
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Here is my tenth chapter, dedicated to all my lovely readers.

Chapter 10: Potions and Detentions

“Oh my gosh! I can't believe that NEWTS are tomorrow! What if I fail, I'll have to stay at Hogwarts and study for another year,” Hermione was walking back and forth her dormitory common room, a book in her hands.

“Will you just rest for a while. When you've gone and graduated from Hogwarts, I'll have stay for another year.”

“You won't fail Harry. As long as you try your best of course.”

“That's encouraging,” Harry said huffily.

“Well, it is true.” Hermione checked her watch, there was only three minutes until Arithmancy. “ I have to go to Arithmancy. Bye Harry, see you in Potions.”

Hermione ran along the corridor to Arithmancy. She made it just in time.

“Hello class! You're NEWTS will be tomorrow, and Arithmancy is one of the hardest subjects. Many people were unable to pass the OWLS, but I'm sure you will all do very good in your NEWTS. Seeing that there is no point starting a new topic just before the NEWTS, we shall revise the work Professor Vector and myself did with you this year.”

Elaine is such a good teacher! Hermione thought as she opened her book.

“Ron , you're doing it wrong again. You're supposed to add wormwood, not nutwood. Honestly, you're going to fail the Potions exam if you do this during the exam. This is the most important potion in the Potions exam, and the Potions exam is very important, especially if you want to be an auror.”

“Okay, okay! It's just a wrong ingredient.”

“It's not just a wrong ingredient. If you put in one wrong ingredient, you're Cure for Pimples, will actually do the opposite effect.”

“Which is....”

“You get more pimples,” Hermione said simply.

“Uh oh. Um, I already put in some nutwood before you stopped me. Didn't Malfoy say that she was going to drink the potion afterwards to test if we've done them correctly?”

“And she also said that we should all do it correctly, seeing we were able to pass the OWLS. And if we don't do it correctly, we lose twenty house points, and if we do it correctly, we get twenty house points, ”said Harry, who made the same mistake as Ron, but he put in munnwood.

“Great, we're dead.”

“What are we going to do?” Harry groaned.

“You know, it's lucky, you apologised Harry, because, I know what to do to fix up your problem.”

“Potter, your turn now. Bring a sample up to me, and I'll drink it.”

Harry ladled some potion into a flask, Hermione wished him good luck (Ron was too nervous to say anything, and Harry took it up to Narcissa Malfoy. She took it from him, and smirked at him. Harry tried not to look at her smirking face. It nerved him a lot but he couldn't help not looking at her drinking down the potion.

When Narcissa drank the last drop of the potion, Harry and everyone else in the room stared attentively at her face. Slowly, the pimples Narcissa Malfoy conjured on her face, started popping, no blood came out, and the scars faded. The Gryffindors whooped, as the Slytherins groaned.

“Weasley, bring yours up now.”

As Ron put his sample into the flask, Narcissa conjured up new pimples on her face. Ron slowly walked to the front of the room, and handed Narcissa his sample. Once again, everyone stared at her face once she finished the potion. The popping noises once more filled the room, which meant Ron had succeeded too.

The Gryffindors applauded as Ron sat down. The Slytherins merely scowled at him. Other students went up one by one. When Narcissa Malfoy drank Neville's potion, her face grew more pimples than ever.

“Twenty points of Gryffindor, you add fairy wings, not pixie wings,” she snapped at him. “Now, Miss Granger.”

Hermione picked up the flask she already filled, and walked up to Narcissa. She took it from her hands, and drank it. Instead of the normal popping noise, there was no sound; but all of the pimples were growing smaller, smaller, smaller and finally gone. All the Gryffindors cheered, but the Slytherins, who thought she had failed, were groaning.

“Ten points of Gryffindor.” Immediately, the cheering and groaning ceased. “You were told to do the basic one, not the extensive one.”

The Slytherins were cheering, but one.

“That's unfair. Any reasonable teacher will give her points and not take away points if somebody in their class does the extensive way of doing something.”

The Gryffindors and some of the Slytherins gaped at Draco Malfoy. Never in their life had they dreamed of Draco Malfoy, the Slytherin Prince, would ever stand up for the Gryffindor Princess, also know to him, the filthy, little Mudblood.

“You always listen to the teacher. The teacher tells you to do the basic potion, and you do the basic potion. The teacher tells you to do the extensive potion, and you do the extensive potion. You never do the opposite to what the teacher tells you to do.”

“Even so, it's not fair. I've read the book, and the extensive potion for the Cure of Pimples is extremely hard. Many fully qualified wizards fail to do it.”

“If you say anything once more, I'll have to put you in detention Draco,” barked Narcissa. Her face had the pink tinge Draco had when he was embarrassed.

“Then put me in detention. I welcome detention.”

“Don't make me Draco.”

“Go on! Put me in detention!”

Everyone could see that Narcissa was battling between whether or not she should put her precious son in detention. Finally, she made up her mind.

“You shall have your detention tonight at 7:00 in my office.”

Five minutes later, Hermione chased after Draco. With Harry and Ron lagging behind.

“Draco! Draco!” He turned around. “I'm so sorry I landed you in detention. I didn't mean to. It's just-”

Draco cut her off.
“It's not your fault. I was just being fair.”

“No, it is my fault. If I did the basic potion and not the extensive one, you wouldn't have to go to detention tonight. I'm such an idiot.”

“Hermione, you are not an idiot.”

“I am. You must really hate me now-”

“It's just detention.”

“Just detention? Yeah, but from your own mother. You probably do hate me no-”

“You know Hermione, you're perfect and all, but the thing I hate most about you is that you go ranting on and on about something,” Draco said, slightly annoyed.

“Oh I'm so sorry, I don't mean to, but it all just sort of comes out and then-”

“And there she goes again.”

“Erm Hermione, can we go to lunch now. I need food!”

Hermione jumped. She nearly forgot that Ron and Harry were still with her.

“Oh okay. Should we go together.”

“Um...” Hermione could tell that Harry's hesitation was because of he and Draco's 'past'.

“Come on Harry. Draco isn't going to just whip out his wand and hex you or something. We're just going to lunch together.”

“If you're thinking that I'll be sitting with you guys,” said Draco seeing Ron's expression, “the you're wrong. Of course I want to sit with Hermione, but the holidays are over, and if you haven't noticed, I've got friends as well.”

“Right.” Harry and Ron said in unison.

“Er, should we go to lunch now? I thought you needed food Ron?”

“Yeah lets go.”

As the four entered the Great Hall, many people stared at them in alarm. It was pure knowledge that Slytherins and Gryffindors never got along. Especially Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. And now, they were walking to lunch together.

“Bye Draco. See you later!” Hermione gave Draco a peck on the cheek (which received even more alarmed looks from people who weren't here in the Christmas holidays) before going to sit down with Ron and Harry, who had left without saying goodbye.

“You guys are really polite. Going without saying goodbye.”

“Why would we want to say goodbye?”

Hermione was saved by Ginny.

“Hey! So made up with each other have you?”

“Yeah, just about,” Ron said.

“What do you mean 'just about'?” Ginny asked sharply.

“Well she's forcing us to say goodbye to that git now.”

“Ronald! I am not forcing to say goodbye. And he is not a git!”

“I think that's a bit hard to prove. Remember when said bad things about Hagrid? Remember when he gave nasty, little interviews for Rita Skeeter?”

“Yeah well, that doesn't mean he won't change.”

Ron opened his moth to retort, but Harry spoke first.

“That's true Ron. He said he will change for Hermione.”

Seeing defeat, Ron shut up.

Draco knocked on Narcissa's door.

“Come in.”

Draco opened the door and sat on the chair without being told to.

“So, may I ask you Draco, why you stood up for that Mudblood?”
“It' s just the simple fact that I'm going out with her and I love her.”

Narcissa raised her eyebrows disbelievingly.

“Okay, I have to admit, at first it was just a dare from Blaise. He said I was too cowardly to go out with someone that isn't pure blood. So I chose Hermione. She gave in very easily, and I thought this would be a hell lot easier, but turns out it isn't.”

“Well you see mother, all the time I was with her, saw that behind the nerd and Gryffindor Princess, I saw that she needed true love. She's not as brave as she looks when it comes to love. I also noticed that she not like all the other muggle-borns. All those muggle-borns, don't even act like a wizard. They just go talking about their stupid muggle life. But Hermione doesn't do that. In fact, she told me once, that she doesn't like being in a muggle family at all. Since she came to Hogwarts, she asks the same question pure blood wizards ask., How do muggles live without magic?

“You've changed Draco. You've understood what is love. Before you use to just hang out with a different girl each week, and now you've changed so much for Miss Granger.” Narcissa started sobbing with joy.

“Mother, can you calm down?” Draco was very alarmed, but when his mother didn't stop, “MOTHER! CAN YOU STOP CRYING!” His mother ceased, and stared at him.

“It's just that, didn't you once mention, that you can do something for someone you truly love. Just say, you can change your attitude or that they don't like you, and like someone else, you can give up on that person, or help that person so they can be with the person he or she likes?”

“Oh Draco, it's like you've suddenly gone from twelve to seventeen.”

“Don't start crying again! Can I go now?”

Draco went out of the office. He lied to his mother. True, he loved Hermione, true, he will change for Hermione, but Hermione did like living with her muggle parents, some muggle- borns did act like wizards. Sometimes Hermione didn't act like a witch and Hermione never asked the same question the pure blood families asked.

Draco only lied to his mother, because he didn't want his mother to know, that he, Draco Malfoy, had fallen in love with Hermione Granger, a muggle-born girl, for no reason at all. He didn't want his mother to know, that he had fallen in love with the muggle-born he had been tormenting since the first day at Hogwarts, Hermione Granger.

I hope you liked it!

You know it is important to every HPFanFiction author to review.

Chapter 11: NEWTS, and Civilising With the Enemy
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

This chapter is NEWTS, Hermione's greatest fear, and come to think of it, every seventh year's fear!

Hope you enjoy Chapter 11!

Chapter 11: NEWTS, and Civilising With the Enemy

Hermione woke in the morning, butterflies fluttering in her stomach. Today is NEWTS. I have to do well, or I won't even be able to graduate from Hogwarts, or get a good job.

Hermione hopped out of her comfy bed, and had a quick shower. She got out her freshly laundered robes, and put them on. She checked her reflection in the mirror behind her walk-in-robe. She looked refreshed, and clean. Hermione checked her watch, there was some time to have a quick breakfast, and some last minute revision before her first test. Herbology.

Hermione grabbed her bag, and stuffed her notebook and some books she might need into it. Then she rushed out to the Great Hall, which was wafting the delicious smell of eggs and bacon. She loved eggs and bacon, but she was too nervous to eat, but she forced some bacon down before retreating to the library.

Hermione took out her notebook with all her minute notes she took during her lessons, and sat down at the Herbology section in the library. She took The Most Dangerous Plants in Britain from the shelf, and started her 'revision'.

Hermione stood with Harry and Ron outside the Great Hall, waiting for Professor McGonagall to call them in for the Herbology written paper exam. It was exactly like taking OWLS, except Hermione was much nervous, and the fact that she knew the exam would be difficult. Much more difficult than OWLS.

“Seventh years, please make your way into the Great Hall, and find a seat.”

Everyone went into the Great Hal slowly, not wanting to do the exam so soon. The only person who walked normally was Hermione. She wanted to get over with it, and get over with the nervousness. By the time Harry and Ron found a seat near, Hermione was already sitting down, adjusting things.

Hermione finished adjusting her papers, and looked around. Ron and Harry were sitting right behind her, and Pavarti Patil was sitting in front of her. To her left, was Luna Lovegood, staring mistily into space. When she looked to her right, she gave a small yelp. Draco Malfoy was sitting there, smirking at her.

“Hi Hermione! Nervous?”

“Draco! Why aren't you with your friends?”
“I am. “ He tilted back on his chair, so Hermione could see beyond him. Zabini Blaise was sitting next to him. Also smirking. “So, nervous Hermione?”

“Very. What if I fail?”

“You won't be Hermione, I probably will,” Ron said from behind her.

“You won't. None of you will.”

“Silence please!” Professor McGonagall barked from the front of the room. “You have two and a half hours, and your time starts.... now!”

An immediate rustle of parchment told them that everyone in the room
were turning over their parchments hastily to start the exam. Hermione started immediately, but Harry and Draco thought for a long time before starting the test. Ron just stared at the questions not understanding a word of it.

The sand on the top of the hour glass slowly thinned, and finally...

“Times up! Please put down your quills. Accio! You are free to go.”

A scraping of chairs filled the room. Some people even ran from the hall. They all wanted to do some quick revision before the other tests. That was the difference between OWLS and NEWTS. All the written paper exams were in one week, and all the practical exams were in the other.

The next test was Charms. It was just as difficult as the Herbology exam. The week went by very slowly. Each day with two very difficult tests. Finally the week ended, and while everyone looked forward to the weekend, the seventh years had to use the time for revising time.

“How did it go boys?” Hermione was leaning against Draco. It was Saturday, and Ron was visiting Harry, and Draco was visiting Hermione, or rather, Hermione invited Draco knowing that Ron was visiting, and wanted them to civilise.

“I think Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts went well, but Potions was lousy,” Harry said.

“I'll probably get Outstandings for at least five. I'll be very surprised if I don't.”

“Still a nasty show off are you Malfoy?” Harry said scathingly.

“Will you guys give it a rest,” Hermione interrupted. “Well, Ron, how did you do?”

“Probably failed everyone of them.”

“Don't be thick. No one can do that,” Harry said encouragingly.

“Yeah, with a thick skull like yours Weasel, I think you'll achieve that.”

“MALFOY! HOW DARE YOU!” Harry stood up, and raised his wand. Draco imitated him, still smirking.

“Guys,” Hermione said wearily. She was tired of this. “ Can't you just civilise, at least in the same room? I think it was nasty of you to say that to Ron Draco, and I think, Harry, that you should try and control your temper.”

“I will if he does.”

“Excuse me Potter, but I believe, I did not jump up from the couch and yell at you,” Draco said coolly.

“I mean, as in none of your snide remarks.”

“Shake hands boys, shake hands,” Hermione said, like a professor

“WHAT! We have to shake hands?” Draco yelped.

“Am I telling you to kill yourself Draco?”

“You technically are. I don't shake hands with people. I never have, and I never will,” Draco said stubbornly. He knew it was a very ridiculous comeback.

“I thought you were going to change for me? Or was it something you just said to get Harry away?” Hermione asked.

“Wha- no, no it wasn't. Of coarse it wasn't. Okay, I'll shake hands, but just this once. Okay?” Draco said, finally giving in.

Harry and Draco shook hands very quickly, just like Sirius and Snape back in their fifth year.

“Ron, I ought think that you should civilise with Draco too.”

“Hang on!” Harry said sharply. “Does shaking hands mean civilising? Civilise? With him?” Harry spat.

“Potter, I don't really want to either, but I don't want to lose my girlfriend you know.”

“I'll never civilise with that ferret.”

“Please Harry. For me?”

Harry looked at Hermione. All the rage quickly faded away, and was replaced by sympathy. He knew Hermione must be in a very bad place at the moment. Should she choose her friends, or her boyfriend?”

“Fine, just for you Hermione.”

“Thank you!”

“So Weasel? Are you going to civilise?”

“My best friend has already gone to your side, I guess I have to.”

Draco and Ron also shook hands. They let go just as fast as Harry and Draco. Hermione beamed at all of them.

“You know, I don't expect you to become friends straight away. But if you don't fight every time you see each other, you might become friends!”

“Hermione, are you expecting a miracle?” Ron asked, disgusted from her suggestion.

The first practical exam was Potions, and once again Hermione was right. The first potion they had to make was the Cure for Pimples. Everyone had the choice to do the basic or extensive potion. Predictably, everyone but Hermione did the basic one. At the end of the two hours, nobody really finished entirely, but only Hermione got the tomato red, which they were supposed to have. Draco Malfoy was just one step away, his potion was a very pale red.

“I got to a sort of fleshy pink,” Harry said to the others once they were free to go. “What did you guys get?”

“I got the tomato red Professor Tofty said we should have,” Hermione said modestly.
“I think I'll get at least an Outstanding for that. Mine was a pale red,” Draco said.

“Yeah, you didn't get as tomato red like Hermione,” Ron piped up.

“Then when what did you get Weasel?” Draco asked him coolly.

Hermione gave a loud cough.

“Weasley.” Draco said hastily.

Ron's face turned bright red, very much like his hair.

“I got a murky blue,” he mumbled.

Draco looked like he was going to laugh, but he caught Hermione's eye, and stopped.

“Ron, I'm sure it's alright. You've still got other exams you can pass.”

“Yeah I guess. What do we have next?”

“I think we've got Transfiguration.” Hermione took out her timetable from her bag. “Yeah.”

“Should we go to the library?” Harry asked.

“Yeah, let's go. Draco? Are you coming?”

“Nah. I'll be with Blaise.”

The Transfiguration exam was much easier than Hermione thought it would be. She needn't have practised the flesh colour changing spell and the bone removing spell. She only needed to change her examiners face into a badger face, grow whiskers on his face, and switch the snake she got into a lizard.

Hermione walked out feeling very happy. She defiantly got on Outstanding. She did all her tasks perfectly, with no mistakes. Charms was slightly trickier. She had to dissect a fish using just one spell of her choice. Then she had to stop a frog from eating a particularly large fly. Finally, Hermione had to make her examiner float in the air, using a non-verbal spell. All in all, Hermione thought she did reasonably well.

Herbology was pretty good. They had to get ten pods from the plant without getting any cuts (Neville managed to get only one cut). Ron however, went very badly. Not to mention accidently setting his fire tree on his examiner, he also got many cuts. Hermione caught some of the examiners shaking their heads sadly.

The rest of the week went by considerably well. Finally after their last test (Defence Against the Dark Arts), they were really free to go.

That night, the seventh years got to use the Great Hall for a party.

“You know, being in seventh year isn't so bad after the NEWTS,” Ron said to Harry and Hermione.

“It would be sad to leave Hogwarts though,” Hermione commented.

“Yeah. Imagine staying with the Dursleys until I got a job or something,” Harry said, shivering at the thought.

“You know, I've been thinking, once we graduate from school, maybe we could open a shop or something in Hogsmeade, then Ginny can visit us when they have Hogsmeade trips. Also Harry, you could live in the shop if you don't want to live with your aunt and uncle,” Hermione said thoughtfully.

“Where do we get the gold? And what type of shop do we open?” Harry asked.

“Well, I'm my favourite niece of my uncle, and he gives me anything I want, including money. I could ask him for some money, then change it to galleons, sickles and knuts. And as for the shop, you know how I published a book earlier in the year? Well we could open a bookshop with books just about the truth of Harry's life.” Hermione replied.

“Can I interrupt for a moment? Why are we talking about after graduation? We've still got another month. Two of the weeks, still random studying, and on the second last week, we get our NEWT result, and on the last week we'll be doing graduating stuff,” Ron suddenly said.

“Good point, come one lets dance,” Harry said to Hermione.

Hermione was rather taken aback, but she danced with Harry for the first song, or, at least until the Slytherins came. Hermione went over to Draco.

“Been ditched?” Ron smirked at Harry.

“Just about,” Harry said grimly. “Anyway, why don't you go ask Luna to dance?”

“I was going to. See you Harry. Good luck on asking someone to dance!”

Harry sat down on one of the chairs that was conjured by the professors. He watched Ron and Luna dance for a while before watching Hermione and Draco. Hermione was laughing, while Draco laughed with her. A sharp pang of jealousy hit Harry. If only he asked Hermione out before Draco Malfoy. He would be the one Hermione was dancing with, he would be the one Hermione was laughing with.

Harry looked away from the now kissing couple, and retreated to his dormitory, seen by no one. Not even by his two best friends.

[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I'm very sorry for the wait!
This chapter is mainly about getting ready to fight, nothing about Draco/Hermione. I swear, the next chapter I'll have something about Draco/Hermione or Harry/Hermione.

Hope you can enjoy!

Chapter 12: Ready to Fight

Two weeks had passed since their NEWTS. And there was only one more week left of school. That very week, the seventh years would find out their NEWT results. The atmosphere was tense, and everyone could feel the tension between each other. Everyone went around to each other, asking the same questions each time. The Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws gave positive comments, and none of them were stupid enough to ask a Slytherin.

Hermione was particularly nervous. Wherever she went, she would be caught chewing her bottom lip anxiously. She jumped at random people and asked if she would pass, even Slytherins. Everyone would say she will pass, she was after all, the smartest witch in their year (though the Slytherins did not admit). The Slytherins would reply to her rather reluctantly, but they weren't stupid enough to go against Draco Malfoy's girlfriend.

On Thursday mid-morning, Hermione was sitting in the library reading her favourite book- Defensive Spells for Defence when Draco came storming in.

“Hermione! Quick go!”

“What? Draco, what's happening?”

“The Death Eaters are attacking Hogwarts, the Dark Lord has come to get Potter! Go, run!”

“How did you know Draco?” Hermione asked, wanting to make sure.

“Hermione, my father is a Death Eater, and they get notices straight away. Plus their children.”

“So you mean no one else knows?”

“Yes, maybe a few other Slytherins; other than that, no one else knows. Now go, go away from Hogwarts. I don't want you hurt. You’re a muggle-born, and they’re second on the Death Eater’s list of wanted.”

“Where will you be?”

“I have to go to the Death Eaters, or you will most defiantly never see me again,” Draco told her. “Unless you dig up my grave,” he added.

“This isn’t a time for joking Draco,” Hermione said, suddenly stern.

“And this isn’t a time to do your job as Head Girl,” Draco answered back. “You have to escape, now. Before the Death Eater’s arrive.”

“No Draco, I'm not leaving the Hogwarts grounds alone. I've still got my friends. I can't leave them alone.”

“Stop being so loyal. You have to stay safe, I want you to stay safe.”

“I know, but I just can’t leave Harry, Ron, Ginny, and all the others, and you. I can sacrifice myself if it is really desperate.”

“No you can’t,” Draco raised his voice slightly. “You’re my girlfriend, and I want you to always be with me.”

“I want to be with you too Draco, but if I was to choose between losing my friends and death, I’ll choose death.”

Draco knew there was no point arguing. Hermione's Gryffindor spirit was swelling to the size of a hot air balloon.

“Fine then. But promise me, and stay safe.” He gave Hermione a soft kiss on the lips.

“You too Draco,” Hermione ran towards the library door, but stopped at the door.

Hermione could feel tears welling up at her eyes. She couldn’t bear parting with Draco. She ran back to Draco, and brought his lips to her own. Hermione hoped with all her heart this wouldn’t be their last kiss.

Draco kissed Hermione back equally passionate. He never remembered being kissed so passionately. True, he had many girlfriends previously, but not one of them kissed him liked this, and he never kissed anyone like this. Draco hoped with all his heart that this wouldn’t be their last kiss.

They finally broke apart, panting slightly.

“Stay safe love, stay safe,” Draco said, his voice a bit hoarse from the kiss.

“I will, you have to keep safe too.”

“I will.”

Hermione slowly started walking away, still facing Draco; then she turned around and ran out of the library. Draco stared at her for as long as he could see her.

Wherever you are Hermione, my heart will be with you, cheering you on, and loving you. I love you Hermione.

Wherever you are Draco, my heart will be pounding, cheering you on at your hardest times, and it will always be loving you. I love you Draco.

Hermione arrived at Professor Dumbledore’s office. She tried to remember what the password was. Cockroach Clusters? No, that was last weeks. Drooble’s Bubblegum? No, Dumbledore hates bubblegum. Chocolate Cauldrons? No, he already used that. Pumpkin Pasty? No, he used that too. Liquorice Wands? Yes, she was pretty sure…

“Liquorice Wands!” she called at the stone gargoyle.

The stone gargoyle leapt aside, and Hermione bounded onto the steps. She ran up the stairs, and by the time she was at Professor Dumbledore's office, she was out of breath. Clutching her side, she knocked on the door.

“Come in!” Professor Dumbledore's voice called from inside. “Ah, Miss Granger!”

“Professor, Voldemort and his Death Eaters are attacking the school. You've got to get everyone into safety.”

“Miss Granger, where did you get this piece of information?”

“Draco told me!”

“Of course. Being the son of a Death Eater, it is quite hard to not know the Death Eater's plans. Well, thank you Miss Granger, can I get you to go and tell Professors Sprout, McGonagall and Flitwick to get their house into the Great Hall? I believe Narcissa Malfoy would joining the Death Eaters in no time. Afterwards, please retreat to the Great Hall yourself. In the mean time, I shall call the order.”

Hermione could not understand why Professor Dumbledore was sounding so calm. But she did not stop to think. She was already bounding down the steps and tearing down the corridor. She tore out of the school, and sprinted down to the Greenhouses.

“Professor, please! Professor Dumbledore told me to tell you to tell your house that Voldemort and his Death Eaters are attacking the school.”

There was an immediate uproar between the first years. They panicked, and it took Professor Sprout several loud bangs from her wand to stop them.

“Please return to your dormitories and wait for your heads of houses.”

The first years scrambled towards the door, and Professor Sprout thanked Hermione.

“No worries Professor!” Hermione exclaimed over the noise.

Hermione pushed passed several first years to get to the door. She went to the other three teachers, and in every class, the students panicked. Finally she went to the Great Hall, and sat down at the Gryffindor table. Soon, the whole school was coming into the Great Hall.

“Hermione, what happened? McGonagall told us that you told her that Professor Dumbledore wants the whole school in the Great Hall,” Harry asked, as he, Ron and Ginny fought over to her.

“It's Voldemort, he's attacking the school.”

“How are you sure?” Ginny asked.

Before Hermione could even answer, someone else answered for her. Voldemort's clear, cold voice boomed all over the Great Hall.

“Teachers and students of Hogwarts! Your hands hold Harry Potter, and if you are wise, pass him over. If he is not passed over in a hour, your lives shall end. I give you only a hour to think. If you want your lives, pass him over, and you shall be spared. Unwise enough to not pass him over, you lose your life. Only one hour I will give you.”

The booming voice stopped, and left ringing silence in the Great Hall.

“Can the Heads of Houses please take their houses to the seventh floor where you will find some portkeys to evacuate from the school. It should all lead you to Diagon Alley, the biggest and safest place from Hogwarts ,” Professor Dumbledore called from the front of the hall.

“What if we want to stay and fight for Harry Potter?” Ernie Macmillian called from the Hufflepuff table.

“If you are seventeen or over, yes, you may stay. But under seventeen, please go with your Heads of Houses. Now, can the Heads of Houses, take their students to the seventh floor? Slytherins, please go with Professor Ebonsky.”

The Slytherins immediately stood up and went towards door. Several Ravenclaws left, while a bit over half of the Hufflepuffs left. Nearly everyone in Gryffindor stayed. Only the first, second and third years left.

“Absolutely not Gryffindors. Fourth, fifth and sixth years come with me,” McGonagall exclaimed at the Gryffindors.

A few more Gryffindors left. Now all the seventh years, Ginny Weasley and Colin Creevey were left.

“Miss Weasley, Creevey, please stop being so stubborn.”

“I want to stay!” Ginny retorted angrily, close to tears. “My whole family is going to be fighting. I can't stand not knowing,” Ginny said to Professor McGonagall.

“Minerva, Miss Weasley may stay. She has done more than any of the sixth years, and I'm sure she wouldn't want to not know what is happening to her family, ” Professor Dumbledore said to McGonagall as he strode down from the front of the hall. “But, Mr Creevey, I'm sorry to say, but you'll have to go. You do not understand what it is like. You have not gone through as much as Miss Weasley.”

Professor McGonagall lead all of the Gryffindors to the seventh floor, half pulling the struggling Colin. When all every member of the order and everyone had settled down, Dumbledore once more stood at the front of the hall.

“I guess you know why you've all stayed.” The whole group of people nodded aggressively. “Well then, first we need some people to block all of the secret passageways.”

“Come on George,” Fred said, who also turned up with George.

“Coming Fred, “ George replied back.

And the two walked out of the Great Hall, followed by Lee Jordan who had turned up with some other old students.

“Next, we need four adults taking another group in every tower.”

“Kingsley, Minerva, Filius and I can do that,” Lupin said looking around to all of the other three he pointed out. They all nodded in approval.

“Can the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students follow them, and Minerva, you can sort them into small groups. Gryffindors, spread yourselves across the school, and get ready to fight.”

A great shuffling told everyone that they were moving to their rightful places.

“Harry Potter!” Dumbledore’s booming voice called out in over the shuffling. “Please stay behind. Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley may stay if they wish.” Harry, Hermione and Ron battled their way back to Professor Dumbledore.

“Harry, do you still remember about the Horcruxes.”

“Yes sir.”

“I have been searching for them for the whole year, and have destroyed a few of them. Four of them remain, and I hope you can destroy them. You two will be very welcome to help.” He looked at Hermione and Ron

“Professor, what Horcruxes remain?” Hermione asked Dumbledore.

“I cannot be sure, but I believe, Rowena Ravenclaw's lost diadem, Voldemort's snake Nagini, Voldemort himself, and the last one, still remains unknown.”

“Professor, how are we supposed to find Ravenclaw's lost diadem?” Harry especially emphasised the 'lost'.

“I believe you will find it somewhere in this school,” Dumbledore said plainly.

“Sorry to interrupt, but exactly what is a diadem?” Ron asked completely bewildered.

“It's something like a tiara.” Hermione answered immediately. “You know what a tiara is.”

“Yeah, I don’t know what a tiara is,” Ron replied sarcastically.

“Now that you all know what it is,” Dumbledore gave Hermione a smile, “ you need to know what it looks like. Follow me,” and waved his hands, gesturing to let them follow them.

Harry, Ron and Hermione followed Dumbledore to the Ravenclaw Common Room. He knocked on an eagle shaped knocker. Instead of asking for a password, a cool, female voice asked,” Where do vanished objects go?”

“What do you three think?” Professor Dumbledore asked.

“Isn't there a password?” Ron asked, satisfied from the other way of getting into a common room.

“It's so they can learn new things,” Hermione answered.”It's all in Hogwarts: A History,” she added, seeing the surprised looks on Harry and Ron's face. “Hmmm, I think that vanished objects go into non-being. In other words, everywhere.”

“Excellent answer,” the female voice said as the door swung open.

“Well done Miss Granger,” Professor Dumbledore said to her as they walked into the Ravenclaw Common Room.

I tall statue of Rowena Ravenclaw towered over Professor Dumbledore, Harry, Ron and Hermione. A tiara like object was on top of her head. Harry, Ron and Hermione moved closer to see the words etched on the diadem closely.

“Wit Beyond Measure Is Man's Greatest Treasure,” Harry read out loud.

“Yes, Ravenclaw's very personal motto,” Dumbledore said from behind them. “Now, I think you guys can start searching, or you'll never get anything done. Please be careful, and good luck.”

I nearly cried when I wrote that bit. (I’m a bit emotional)

And I know, I copied the bit where Ron asks what a diadem is from the book (chapter ‘the lost diadem’ pg. 470 in the deathly hallows), but I had to make sure someone asked what a diadem was, so Dumbledore could take them to see. And Ron isn’t that intelligent (sorry to all of the Ron Weasley fans!) so……
I also copied the question to go into the Ravenclaw Common Room, because it’s a cool question, and I really like it.

Okay, there was some Dramione, maybe I was a bit too carried away. Don’t forgot to review. I love reading comments. Even bad ones!

Chapter 13: War and A Diadem

Harry, Ron and Hermione walked out of the Ravenclaw Common Room, stopped and looked at each other.

“Have any of you got any idea whatsoever where we are going to find the diadem thing?” Harry asked.

“Nup!” Ron and Hermione said in unison.

“What help do we have, if we know what it is and what it looks like?” Ron asked.

“Well it would help. At least we know what it is we are actually looking for. I mean if I tell you to go and find the Gurston Cupmore right now, would you have any idea about what I’m talking about?” Hermione asked Ron.

“No,” Ron said truthfully.

“So, what exactly is a Gurston Cupmore?” Harry asked.

“The Gurston Cupmortoria, more commonly known as Gurston Cupmore, is-“

“Hermione, we’re not in class,” Ron interrupted rudely.

“Whatever. It’s a special herb that’s filled with juice which can make a deadly poison, or any potion that isn’t friendly into clear water.”

“Cool, if only I had some of that, I wouldn’t have to check any drink I get sent from ‘admirers’.” Harry held two fingers, making quotation marks.

“They’re really rare though.” She smirked at Harry’s sarcastic falling face. “Can we get back to the important topic?”

“Yes we can!” Harry said as if nothing happened.

“First of all, we need to think back, and see if we’ve ever seen a tiara like object at Hogwarts,” Hermione told the other two.

Harry obeyed. He started from his first year. No, nothing of that sort. Second year. No, it couldn’t be in the Chamber of Secrets. Chamber of Secrets? The Basilisk? Harry suddenly remembered Dumbledore telling him what could destroy horcurxes.

“Not many things can destroy horcruxes, but there are a few rare things that can destroy them. For example, Fiend Fire- the most dangerous fire in the whole world. Basilisk Fangs- the poison in the fang, seeps the ‘container’, and kills the horcruxe. And, Godric Gryffindor’s Sword.

“Gryffindor’s Sword? How?” Harry asked, flabbergasted.

“You see Harry, Godric Gryffindor was a very powerful wizard. Much more powerful than the Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. He knew that one day, evil would spread across the world. Knowing this, he put some powerful spells that can break anything onto his sword. These spells could also make sure nothing evil could penetrate it; such as horcruxes. The spells would only be broken when there is no truly worthy Gryffindor left in Great Britain.”

“I’ve got it!” Harry exclaimed.

“You know where the diadem is?” Ron asked, excited.

“No, but I know what can destroy it. Come on!”

Hermione and Ron followed behind Harry. He seemed to be leading them to Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom. Sure enough, they ran along the newly painted wall that bore the messages five years ago and into the bathroom. Moaning Myrtle was absent. They supposed the ghosts were taking part in the battle too. Harry walked to the sink that held the entry to the Chamber of Secrets.

“Open,” Harry said in parseltongue.

After a few minutes, the deep tunnel was once more in front of Harry.

“Let’s go in,” Harry said hurriedly.

Hermione nodded and walked up to the tunnel, but Ron stopped her.

“Harry, have you ever thought about how we are going to go back up? We had Fawkes five years ago, but we’ve got nothing here this time.”

“Good point. Accio brooms! ” After a few seconds Harry chanted the spell, Harry and Ron’s brooms flew through air, and stopped at their owners.

“And may I ask, how am I supposed to get back up?” Hermione asked.

“You can come on the back of my broom,” Harry told her. “Come on, lets get down there now.”

Harry and Ron clambered onto their broom, but Hermione stared at Harry.

“Harry, I’m going to fall of the broom if you sit right in the middle.”

“Oh right sorry.” Harry moved forwards a few inches, and Hermione clambered on the back.

“All set? Let’s go!” Harry and Ron kicked off from the ground, and dived into the tunnel.

“Arghhhh!” Hermione clutched onto Harry so tightly, that he could hardly breath. Partly because Harry was already a bit breathless. He and Hermione and never been so close…

The ground came into view, and they were going to fast, if they didn’t jump right now, they would crash.

“Ron, Hermione! We have to jump, or else we’re going to crash!” Harry called to the other two.

“What!” Hermione exclaimed, thinking that she had heard wrong.

“Just do it!”

Harry and Ron jumped at the same time. Harry landed perfectly, but Ron stumbled slightly. Hermione still hadn’t jumped.

“Jump Hermione! Jump!”

Hermione closed her eyes, and jumped. It would have been alright if she hadn’t accidently pushed over an unaware Harry and landed on top of him. They stayed in that position, blinking at each other, slightly bewildered about what had happened, until…

“Oi! Are you going to stand up, or stay like that forever?” Ron’s voice called from the corner.

Harry and Hermione came back to presence, and Hermione quickly clambered off Harry.

“I’m really sorry.”

Harry opened his mouth but before he had chance to speak, Ron told them to hurry up. They walked in silence, but when they arrived at the Chamber, Hermione let out a gasp. The Basilisk looked just as frightening as five years ago. They quickly went over to the Basilisk and attempted to pull out some of it’s fangs. Unfortunately, the fang’s seemed to harden, and was extremely hard to pull out.

Ron stepped into the mouth, and pulled with all his might.

“This damn thing just won’t move!”

Hermione pulled out her wand and pointed it to a fang.

Relashio! ” Nothing happened. She tried several more spells, but none of them worked. “ Bombarda! The spell collided with the fang, and it exploded with such force, that Hermione backed into Harry, who was busy with another fang. “I’m so sorry Harry! It was the spell.” She looked at the scattered pieces of the fang. “ Reparo! ” The pieces moved together, and closed up the cracks.

“Well done Hermione!” Ron called from ‘his’ fang.

“Will it still work though?” Harry asked.

“It should,” Hermione said, frowning slightly. “Because the Basilisk fang is filled with poison, and it is enclosed in every part of the fang. It only seeps out when the tip of it hits something. So that’s how it kills the soul in the container.”

“How did you know that Hermione?” Harry asked.

“Well, I read don’t I?”

Harry, Ron and Hermione flew back up through the Chamber fifteen minutes later, loud crashes could be heard from inside the toilet. This only meant one thing. The battle had begun.

“Now our problem is- where are we going to find the basilisk fang?” Ron asked Harry and Hermione.

“I think we need to ‘think back’ again,” Hermione stated.

“Yeah good idea. I remembered about the basilisk fangs, so maybe I can remember if I’ve ever seen a diadem!” Harry alleged.

“Yeah, let’s see if you can get lucky. Maybe you can be the lucky person who can get an old, useful potions book again,” Ron smirked.

Harry scowled at Ron, but a light bulb suddenly clicked in his head.

“The old potions book!” he exclaimed.

“What about it? I was just joking,” Ron said, taken aback.

“Where I hid my old potions book! A statue of an ugly warlock with a dusty tiara on his head! It’s there!”

“Harry, calm down,” Hermione said, getting excited. “Are you saying that where you hid your old potions book has a statue of an ugly warlock with a dusty tiara on his head nearby?”

“Yes! I hid it in a cabinet, and I put the statue on top of the cabinet so I could find it again!”

“Then what are we waiting for, let’s go to the Room of Requirement now!”

They ran along the staircases to the seventh floor, dodging the flying spells. Finally they managed to get to the picture of Boris the Bewildered. I need to open the place where everything is hidden. I need to open the place where everything is hidden. I have to open the place where everything is hidden! Harry thought desperately. A door evolved slowly on the blank wall, and Harry, Ron and Hermione bounded in.

“I think we should go in different directions, it’ll be quicker. When you find the statue, set up orange sparks,” Harry said to Ron and Hermione.

Hermione and Ron nodded to Harry, but just as they were about to move their feet, a voice called from the shadows.

“Who’s there?” Draco Malfoy stood out from the shadows. “Hermione?”

“Draco!” She ran up to him, and tackled his mouth with hers. Draco was a little bit surprised, but soon he was in spirit too, and dove his tongue into her mouth.

“Hem, hem,” Harry ‘coughed’ to try and get them back to presence. When nothing happened, but Draco just clutched onto Hermione even tighter, Harry lost his patience. “OI! THERE’S A WAR HAPPENING OUT THERE RIGHT NOW! SO IF YOU DON’T MIND, LEAVE TO SHARE YOUR EMOTIONS TO AFTER!”

Draco and Hermione detached themselves from each other.

“So, what are you doing here Malfoy?

“The Dark Lord told me to stay here. He wouldn’t tell me why though. Now can you tell me why you are here?”

“Well, we’re looking for a diadem actually,” Harry and Ron stared at Hermione disbelieving that she had just told Draco Malfoy about the diadem.

“When are you two going to believe that Draco is trustworthy?” Hermione asked, seeing the looks on their faces.

“When we die,” Ron replied.

Hermione gave them a non-approving look and turned back to Draco.

“Draco, are you alright? Have you been hurt?”

“Nah, I’ve been waiting in this room since the start of the battle. What about you Hermione, are you hurt?”

“Well, we met Antonin Dolohov on the way. He gave me this cut here,” she pointed to a cut on her arm, “but he was stunned by Harry before he could do anything else.”

“Hermione, we need to find the diadem. Now,” Harry impatiently said.

“Oh, right.”

“Um, if you must know, I was rather bored when I was in here, and I explored the room a bit-“

“Thought you technically lived here last year,” Ron said scathingly.

“But I really paid attention to the Vanishing Cabinet. Anyways, I was exploring, and I saw a statue with a tiara like object on his head behind that wall over there,” he pointed towards a wall with a hole just as big as a normal house door.

Harry walked through the ‘door’, and after a few minutes, there came an excited call behind the wall. “I found it! I found it!”

He came running back with a dusty tiara looped around his arm. Ron walked over, and dusted of some dust.

“Wit beyond measure, is man’s greatest treasure. That’s it! Yes!”

“Thank you so much Draco! Thank you!” Hermione said to Draco.

“So why exactly do you want a diadem?” He asked, completely bewildered.

“Voldemort split his soul into seven pieces, each by murder. That’s called a horcruxe, and unless all of the horcruxes are destroyed, he’ll never die. Dumbeldore told Harry, that Voldemort loved historical objects. So we believe, and so does Dumbledore, that Voldemort tracked down where Hufflepuff’s Cup, Ravenclaw’s Diadem and Slytherin’s locket was, and made them each, a horcruxe; because they are defiantly, priceless, historical objects. Dumbledore destroyed some of them, and now he wants us to destroy this one,” Hermione said knowledgeably.

“So! How would like to do the honers?” Harry asked.

“Well, if you don’t mind me saying, I think I should do it. After all, if I hadn’t said my word, you might not even have it right now,” Draco piped up.

“Excuse me, but this is concerning about killing Voldemort, in other words, your master,” Ron particularly emphasised the ‘killing’.

“My master?” Draco laughed. “You still don’t get do you? I’m not a Death Eater, no matter how much people think I am. The Dark Lord, only orders me around, because of my father. Who says,” Draco snorted, “that I should be ordered around now, so I can know the feeling of being a Death Eater.”

“Being a Death Eater?” Harry said quizzically.

“When I’ve graduated from Hogwarts, I have to be branded with the Dark Mark. Which, I’m not looking forward to,’ he added. “So, how do I destroy this thing?”

“After a sudden flashback of my memory, we’ve worked out that only three things can destroy a horcruxe. One of them, is hard to produce, another one of them is currently unavailable, and the last one I here.” Harry picked up a Basilisk fang that Hermione had dropped, and handed it to Draco. “On the count of three, you’ll stab the diadem with that,” he pointed to the fang. “Okay. Three, Two, One, Stab!”

Draco moved to stab the diadem, but a new, but familiar voice spoke. “I never know you’ll betray the Dark Lord for a Mudblood Draco.” Blaise Zabini walked through the door.

“Blaise! What are you doing here?”

“To keep an eye on you. The Dark Lord knew you couldn’t be trusted anymore. Heshma Esfiend! ” Great balls of fire erupted from the tip of his wand.

Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco dodged the fire, but the diadem that none of them where quick enough to pick up, was hit by the flames. They could see the diadem slowly crunching up, and finally burst with an ear-piercing scream. They all stared at the place where the diadem stood for a few minutes, dazed, not knowing what had happened. Finally Hermione realized what had happened.

“Fiend Fire! The second thing that destroys horcruxes! That’s why the horcruxe was destroyed !”

Draco laughed out loud. “Well, who’s the traitor now?”

Blaise imitated Draco and laughed out loud. “You’re saying I’m the traitor?”

“Well I suppose you know what horcruxes are? Seeing that you know how to produce Fiend Fire,” Hermione said scathingly.

“As a matter of fact, yes I do. What does that have to do with anything?”

“That diadem you just destroyed is one of Voldemort’s horcruxes. Get the message?”

Blaise backed into a table littered with old belongings of previous Hogwarts students. He looked terrified, and Draco had his usual smirk plastered on his face. At the moment, the scene was very odd. Draco Malfoy and Blaise Zabini had been best friends for many years, but now they were like enemies for years. Blaise was shaking, scared at the fact that he just destroyed a part of his master’s soul. And Draco was smirking so much, his eyes were reduced to slits, or if possible, even smaller.

None of them noticed that the Fiend Fire was expanding, from the size of a palm, it was now to the size of an small table. Ron was the only one who noticed this and let out a strangled yelp. Everyone looked to where he was pointing, and panicked. Harry thought fast, and grabbed the his and Ron’s broom from the floor. Harry, Draco and Hermione hopped onto Harry’s broom, whilst Ron and Blaise hooped onto Ron’s broom.

They quickly pushed off from the ground and escaped from the room filled with giant flames. Hermione could feel Draco’s hot breath on her neck, he was breathing deeply, due to his fear of getting hit by the flames. Hermione looked down, and saw they were far from the ground, she shivered slightly, but didn’t feel as scared as she used to be. She felt oddly relaxed with Draco and Harry around her.

Draco finally felt fresh air up his nostrils; they finally escaped the smoky atmosphere. He quickly hopped off Potter’s broom, and dusted off some dust of his robes. The others followed suite.

“You do a poor job Potter, if I was flying the broom, I’m sure I wouldn’t get all this dust on our rob-“

“Draco,” Hermione said raising her eyebrows. “Do you really want to fini-“

She was cut off by a cry coming from down the corridor.

“Let’s go and see. Someone might be hurt!”

They all ran down the hall and saw Luna Lovegood, Dean Thomas, Ernie MacMillian and Seamus Finnigan fighting two tall Death Eaters. I spell flew right over Luna’s shoulder, and left a sing there. Ron gave a cry of fury, and bounded forwards to help them. Harry and Hermione also joined in to help them. Draco stood at the sides watching anxiously (Blaise had run off ages ago), not knowing whether to join them.

He was still making up his mind when one of the Death Eaters slashed his wand over her arm, and left a red, shiny burn. Hermione dropped her wand in pain, and fell to the ground. The Death Eater walked towards her, but before he could make his second step, he was stunned by Draco. Every wand stopped, and stared at him (especially Luna, Dean, Ernie and Seamus).

“I knew you would betray the Dark Lord one day Draco,” an icy, familiar voice said from underneath the Death Eater mask. “A hand gripped the mask, and pulled of his mask. It was Antonin Dolohov. Obviously, Harry’s stunning spell had been lifted. “When Lucius said to the Dark Lord, that you shall serve him like your master, I knew that you won’t last long. You are too much of a coward.”

“I am not a coward,” Draco said, clenching his fists tightly around his wand.

“You are not a coward? Then why are you helping these filthy Mudbloods? You should let me finish her off.”

“Never-call-Hermione-a-mudblood-in-front-of-me,” Draco said every word clearly.

“On first name terms are we?” Dolohov laughed out loud.

Stupefy! ” Dolohov dodged the unexpected spell just in time.

Crucio! ” Draco, with the excellent reflexes of a seeker, dodged the spell nicely.

Now, it was just a battle between the two, and everyone was watching cautiously. At one point, Harry tried to help, but was stopped by Draco. He wanted to do this alone.

Petrificous Totalus!

Avada Kedavra!

Draco moved to avoid the deadly curse, but he didn’t even have the chance to move his wand, and was hit by a second spell. The last thing Draco heard before falling to the ground was Hermione calling his name.

Chapter 14: The End of War
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

 To my lovely readers,

Here is your fourteenth chapter. The end of the war.

PS I have rewritten the last part. It seemed very unVoldemorty.

Chapter 14: The End of War

A deadly battle was happening between the four. Wands were slashing so fast they were blurred, and sparks were flying everywhere around them. Draco Malfoy, Hermione Granger, Antonin Dolohov and Walden Macnair were all battling their hardest. Macnair and Dolohov were fighting, fighting to kill.

Dolohov and Macnair thought they had an easy battle ahead them, but obviously they were wrong. Hermione and Draco were much more powerful than what they expected them to be. They were more than seventeen year old seventh years, they were two young adults, knowing more spells than ever.

Avada Kedavra!

The green jet of light that erupted from the tip of Macnair’s wand missed Draco’s shoulder by inches.

“Need some proper ‘aiming’ lessons Macnair?” Draco yelled. “

Macnair protected himself with protego.

Meanwhile Dolohov and Hermione was in a right state. Dolohov had cuts and bruises all over his face. Hermione’s eye was swollen, and she was panting deeply, like she had just ran around the Quidditch pitch three times.

The spell hit the panting Hermione squarely on the chest, and she screamed. A scream that could be heard all along the corridor. And that made Harry and Ron, who were searching for her at the end of the corridor to come rushing towards them.

“Hermione!” Harry didn’t think twice, and ran to Hermione’s aid.

Together they fought Dolohov, and Ron helped Draco.

A red jet of light burst from Harry’s wand, and hit directly towards Dolohov. Dolohov’s wand flew from his hands, and Harry, with the skills of the youngest seeker who made it into the team, caught the wand at the tip of his fingers.

Thick ropes burst from Draco’s wand and they bound themselves tightly around Macnair. He struggled to get free, but he was tightly bound, and could not move one bit. One down, and one more to go! Dolohov was in a panic now, he’s partner was down, and he was wandless, in other words, he was useless. He cared no more, and punched Harry with all his might in the stomach. Harry, who doubled up in pain dropped Dolohov’s wand. Dolohov quickly picked up his wand before either of them could get it, and pointed it directly at Hermione.

Avada Kedavra!

The green light zoomed towards Hermione, but she jumped out of the way, the spell hit the wall, and several heavy framed paintings came crashing down. One of the paitings was really close to hitting Draco, but Hermione stopped it.

“Wingardium Leviosa!”

“Thank you Hermione!”

“No prob-“ Hermione didn’t even have a chance to finish her sentence, and she was hit by Dolohov’s second spell.

She stopped in mid-sentence, and fell slowly to the ground, her face with a frightened expression.

“No Hermione! Hermione! No! No!”

Draco opened his eyes, he was struggling in his bed, but he noticed that he was in the hospital wing. Hermione, Harry and Ron were all around him, watching him anxiously. Hermione was clutching his hand, and when she saw him opening his eyes, she felt a burst of happiness erupt in her.

“Draco! You’re alive! I’m so happy!” She hugged him very tightly.

Draco hugged her back, and gave her a kiss behind the ear (there came a loud cough from Harry).

When Hermione finally released Draco, he finally managed to croak in a feeble voice, “ yes, I’m alive Hermione. What happened anyway?”

“Dolohov hit you with a spell, and you passed out for hours. We all thought you were dead.”

“Not that it wouldn’t do us any help,” Harry muttered in Ron’s ear.
Ron sniggered, and quickly stopped when Hermione shot him one of her best death stares before she returned back to Draco.

“I you feeling better now Draco?”

“There are some sore bits, but, I’m otherwise, feeling quite okay.”

Hermione gave a dry sob, and hugged Draco tightly again.

“Hermione! Let me breathe!” Draco gasped through behind her.

“I’m so sorry!”

“What has happened to the Dark Lord? The Death Eaters? Are they still attacking the school? Why is it suddenly so quiet?”

“Voldemort sort o-“

Before Harry could even finish talking, a great crash vibrated throughout the whole school.

“Great! He’s attacking again. It must’ve been a trick!” And with that, Harry and Ron sprinted out of the hospital wing.

Draco tried to get out of his bed, but Hermione stopped him.

“No Draco, you’re not fit for fighting. Not just yet.”

“Let go Hermione! I have to go! What would you think will happen if I ’ve suddenly disappeared? They could attack me, murder me in this bed! How would you think how I would feel not knowing what will happen?”

“Yeah, but…”

“Hermione, there’s no way you’re stopping me.”

Draco yanked his thin blanket off him and glided out the room, Hermione staring at his back, before coming to her senses and sprinting after him. She found him duelling with a masked man.

The man ducked very violently to avoid the red jet of light hurtling towards him, but in the flurry of movement, his mask fell off. It was Lucius Malfoy. Draco Malfoy was duelling with his own father, and Hermione registered that it was all for her.

“No!” Hermione sprinted towards them and jumped in between them. “Draco! How can you do this? To your own father!” she cried, completely wild. “If this is all for me, I’m not worth it.”

Draco stared at Hermione, and lowered his wand.

“Well, I must say, a stinky, little Mudblood can actually stop a stupid boy from killing his father,” sneered Lucius Malfoy.

Petrificus Totalus!

Lucius Malfoy’s arms snapped to his body as his legs snapped together, and he fell onto the stone floor.

“Draco!” Hermione screeched. “How could you attack your own father!”

“That’s what anyone gets for calling you a Mudblood,” Draco spat.

“Hermione, he’ll come too. Come one.”

Draco clutched Hermione’s hand, and ran towards the darkened grounds.
“Draco, where are we going?”

You’re going away from Hogwarts. It is even more dangerous here now. Voldemort has come into the school himself! My father would know that!”

“No way. There is no way I am going from the school.”

Draco hadn’t even opened his mouth to say something else, and Hermione had already ran back into the castle. When he followed shortly, he found her reunited with Harry and Ron. Everywhere Draco looked, wands were blurry from the flurry of them. He rushed over to Hermione and Weasley who had suddenly crowded around Potter.

“What happened? What’s up with Potter?” he asked.

“Harry’s scar is hurting. You-Know-Who must be coming.”

As Ron spoke, Voldemort was backed into entrance hall by the spells Dumbledore was firing at him.

“You’re losing old man! You’re losing!”

Dumbledore smiled. “That is because Tom, I have to lose. I am not the one to kill you.” He opened his arms. “I welcome death, but bear in mind Tom, you will never be the greatest sorcerer in the world.”

With a scream of fury, Voldemort casted the spell that killed many others. Before falling to the ground, his wand clattered to the floor and Voldemort summoned it to himself.

“NOOOOOO!” Harry bounded forwards.

“The boy who lived finally decides to show his face! But you are brave. You decide to face the greatest sorcerer in the world!”

“Did you not listen to Dumbledore? You will never be the greatest sorcerer in the world. Even if you hold the elder wand.”

“The elder wand is the most powerful wand, and I, Lord Voldemort killed the last master, which makes it mine!”

“Dumbledore wasn’t the last master. There was a new master since last year on the clock tower. Until now, he probably didn’t even know he was the master of the elder wand. Draco Malfoy is the master if the elder wand.”

“But does it matter? I can attend to him after I kill you. Yes Harry, you are going to die. Tonight! Avada Kedavra!

Both jets of light hit each other, and Harry’s face contorted in concentration as the green light slowly moved towards him. Knowing he had to do something, Draco jumped forwards.

With the power of two spells, the red lights moved towards Voldemort. His face turned into a snarl.

“Draco how dare-“

He could not finish for the lights hit his wand. His wand flew out of his hands and Draco and Harry caught it at the same time. The rebounding green light hit Voldemort squarely in the chest. And Lord Voldemort fell backwards onto the marble floor.

The dark wizard whom had been known by every wizard and witch for nearly eighteen years was finally dead.
I was killing myself writing the Dumbledore dying part.
Now, you know what to do. Review please!!

Chapter 15: NEWT Results and a Present
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Sorry for the very short chapter. I will try and make the next chapter longer. And I am very, very, very sorry for the long wait. I have been busy with the school work as well as beginning my new Dramione story. Everyone needs love. I will let you know when I have posted it! Hope you can read it!

Chapter 15: NEWT Results and a Present

Hogwarts returned back to normal after three days. Except it felt odd without seeing Dumbledore around the school. On the second day of the war, there was a funeral. Every single wizard or witch or creature Dumbledore knew was invited.

“So let the wizard who fought Lord Voldemort remain in our hearts forever.”

These were the words that sent almost every girl crying.

“I can’t believe Dumbledore’s dead. He was such a, a, a wonderful headmaster,” Hermione said after the funeral.

Harry, Ron and Draco all nodded solemnly. Two girls walked passed them and they kept staring at Draco and Harry, giggling.

“Oh please, stop staring!” Hermione snapped at them.

Draco and Harry had become the heroes who killed Voldemort. It was always known that Harry would be the one, but it was very unnatural for Draco. Especially a Slytherin who was constantly fighting with Harry Potter. So, since the war, Hermione would be constantly seen snapping at people to stop staring at her boyfriend. Harry and Draco also got on better terms. Seeing they defeated Voldemort together, but they were still not friends, or anything. They were just much more politer towards each other.

Because of the war, the NEWT results were delayed to the week after, and the seventh years, were unfortunately not able to have a proper graduation ceremony, but they did not care. Lord Voldemort was finally dead, and that was every Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw’s biggest wish.

One day into the last week for the year sevens, their NEWT results came. Every seventh year was told to stay behind in the great hall after lunch that day, and Professor McGonagall called them one by one in roll order to go up and receive their results. After Harry, Hermione, Ron and Draco (he had been spending a lot of time with them since the war) all received their roll of parchment with their results they all retreated to Harry and Hermione’s common room. It was very tense between all of them, and they all just stared at each other in silence.

Hermione broke the silence.

“Erm, do you guys want to open it now?”

“Yeah, we’ll quickly get over and done with. On the count to three, together then?”

Hermione, Draco and Ron nodded in agreement. Draco was paler than usual, Hermione was shaking so that her piece of parchment nearly fell out of her hands. Harry was breathing very deeply and seemed to have lost his voice. Ron looked very green and looked like as if he might puke all over them.

“Well, good luck. One,”

They all looked down at their piece of parchment.

They readjusted their parchment so that they could see the seal sealing the parchment closed.

There was a shuffling as the pieces of parchment opened.

Hermione looked down and quickly scanned it. She nearly fainted.

Wow, he had gotten two outstandings, and he passed all his subjects. Harry could not believe it. Harry turned to Ron, who was still looking at his parchment, with a horrified expression on his face. Harry had a feeling this wasn’t good.

“Ron? Are you okay?” Ron said nothing, but thrust his piece of parchment under Harry’s nose.

Harry looked at Ron, who looked back at him.

“Just one step. One step away and I wouldn’t have needed to stay another year,” Ron swore.

“Good try Ron. You nearly got there,” Harry replied sympathetically.

Hermione, who was hugging Draco and congratulating turned around.

“What happened?” She asked concerned.

Harry handed Hermione the parchment. She furrowed her eyebrows as she read it. She looked back at it and her expression changed. Her eyes widened. Draco also turned to look. He looked as if he was about to laugh, but Hermione nudged him in the ribs.

“Ron...I’m so sorry.”

“No, there’s no need. If I wasn’t so thick in the first place..”

“You’re not thick.” It wasn’t Hermione or Harry who had spoken that. It was Draco. Harry, Hermione and Ron all looked at him in surprise. “ You just didn’t try your best.”

Harry, Hermione and Ron all stood there flabbergasted. None of them had ever thought he would say something not criticising to Ron. Soon, they all recovered.

“Um well…” Harry began.

“Oh well, I’ll just stay another year. There could be some ups staying at Hogwarts again!” Ron tried to sound cheerful, but nothing could hide the sadness.

“Think on the bright side Ron! You still have Ginny!” Hermione said as brightly as she could.

“Yeah right. She’ll probably just make fun of me.”

“No she won’t!” Hermione said defiantly.

“And, Hermione and I, can open the shop we talked about after the exams, then you can come visit us, and vice versa!” Harry said, also trying to sound cheerful.

“Yeah I guess… Where are you going to get the gold though?” Ron asked.

“From me of course.” They all turned to Draco again. Surprised.

“In case you haven’t noticed Weasley, my family is very rich. Father and mother give me anything I want. Including money.”

“Draco, that’s really sweet of you. But I can always just ask my uncle. He gives me anything.”

“Well, think about it. If I give you the gold, you can save up the bother to change the money. In fact, it would be even more simple if I just bought a shop for you.”

“There’s no need for that!”

“Yes there is, I have just noticed, since our relationship began, I have not given you anything. Please take it.”

“For me?”

“Please?’ Draco looked at Hermione, almost with pleading eyes.

Hermione looked back at him for a few seconds.

There you go, there’s the fifteenth chapter of the story.
Please review!

Chapter 16: Tears
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I am sooooooooo sorry for the wait. I've been busy with production performances which lasted three night (not to mention costumes, make-up, props etc.) and then the chapter got rejected. Anyway, here's the sixteenth chapter.

BTW, this chapter is a little sad, but you might need to read it to understand the rest of the story.

Chapter 16: Tears

“Hermione, we need a shop name,” Harry said very suddenly to Hermione during dinner.

Hermione was very surprised at the sudden comment, but recovered quickly.

“Yes, I agree too. We need to be organised before we graduate.”

“We also need more books. We need books other than the book you published earlier than this year. I mean, how weird would it be if there was only one book in the whole store?” Harry also added.

“Well, I’ve got that all sorted!” Hermione said brightly, when Harry looked at her confused, Hermione went on. “I published two more books throughout the whole year, and no one’s said anything about it because they don’t think it mattered much. Only Rita Skeeter, that old hag, would report something on that.”

“But three books aren’t enough to open a book shop Hermione,” Ron had gotten over the fact that he had to stay at Hogwarts for another year, though sometimes he still went a bit moody.

“Then we can put in some other books.”

“About Harry of course, I’m sure there are some books that are correct. We can also do a small corner of muggle books,” Hermione replied. “For muggleborns,” she added when she saw Harry and Ron’s expression of bewilderness.

Shortly afterwards, Ron went to find Luna at the Ravenclaw table, and Harry and Hermione stood up.

“Er, Harry, you go, I just need to go to the library.”

“Hermione,” Harry groaned. “The exams have finished.”

“Yeah, I know, but I just need to get a book.”

Harry rolled his eyes, but he turned around nonetheless. Hermione turned around into the gloomy corridor that led to the library when someone slid their arms around her waist. Knowing who it was, she smiled as she turned around and faced Draco.

“Hello love.”

“Hi Draco. I haven’t seen you all day,” Hermione whispered to him. “And I’ve been wanting to do something all day…”

Hermione leaned up to Draco and met her lips with his. Draco kissed her back. It was a soft kiss, but passionate nonetheless. Draco’s tongue played around at Hermione’s lips, obviously asking permission to enter. Hermione opened her lips and Draco’s tongue immediately dived in. And their tongues held a fierce battle.

Suddenly, there was a loud shriek. They broke apart and Pansy Parkinson stood there, looking horrified at them.

“Draco! Why are you kissing that Mudblood?” Hermione winced. No one had called her a Mudblood in ages.

“For your information Parkinson ” Draco added emphasis on ‘Parkinson’, and now it was her turn to wince. “Hermione is my girlfriend, and I have every right to kiss her.”

“Don’t make me laugh. You only even started dating her as a dare from Blaise!”

Ringing silence was left behind her. Hermione turned around slowly, and stared at Draco. Draco however, was staring at Pansy with utmost disgust on his face.

“How dare you,” his voice was low and cold, it actually scared Hermione a lot. “Get out of my view, and I never want to see you again.”

Pansy’s eyes were streaked with tears.

“Are you choosing the Mudblood over me Draco?”

“So what if I am?”

Pansy ran off, face streaked with tears.

“Draco, I think you should go explain. Even if I do hate her a lot, I still think you should go explain, I mean, she did look really upset,” Hermione said.

“No. She really only likes me for my money. That’s all,” Draco growled. “She is just an absolute bi-“

“Draco! Even if that is the case, maybe just go explain?”

“There is nothing to explain. I never loved her, she never loved me, she only loved my money.”

Hermione pouted her lips. “Hmph! That’s not an excuse. Oh well…”

Hermione and Draco both entered the library together. A voice came from behind them.

“Draco, we need to talk.”

Hermione and Draco turned around, Blaise was standing there.

“Oh, you survived the war did you? You didn’t die?” Draco asked coldly.

“Yes, as you can see, I am very much alive. Anyway, Pansy tells me you’ve made some,” Blaise looked towards Hermione. It was not unnoticed by either of them. “Decisions.” He finished.

“She came to you quickly. Was she crying her head off?” Draco’s voice was still cold.

“Close to. She’s gone back to the common room now, and I need to talk to you right now.”

“Well then spit it out. I’m listening.”

“Fine. Wait for me here,” he told Hermione.

The boys left, no doubt to go to a nearby classroom. Hermione went to find some books, but she found herself unable to concentrate. Finally, curiosity overwhelmed her, and she went to find the boys. She heard angry voices coming from a classroom.

“She’s a Mudblood!”

“Do-not-call-her-that-in-front-of-me,” Draco said each word clearly.

“I can call her whatever I like thank you very much. Have you forgotten it was a dare?”

“I know it was a dare, and it still is!”

"Still a dare? Yeah like you act it. You like her Draco Malfoy, you like her."

No I don't. I don't like her. I-"

Hermione could listen no further. She had been tricked, Draco was lying. He still thought her as a Mudblood, he didn’t love her. Harry was right. Draco was only playing with her feelings. All those kisses, hugs, and even petrifying his father was just to gain her trust so he could hurt her more. Tears brimmed Hermione’s eyes. Before she knew it, she was crying. She ran back to the library and grabbed her bag. Then she ran back to her common room. Harry was sitting on the couch.

“Hi Hermione! What took you so long?”

He turned around and was alarmed to see the silent tears pouring from her face.

“Hermione! What happened?”

He quickly ran over and put an arm around her, then he guided her over to the couch.

“Harry! Oh Harry!” Hermione sobbed into Harry’s shoulder. He patted her back and comforted her.

Finally, Hermione’s tears ceased. Although she would occasionally hiccup.

“Harry! It was all-hic-all a trick! He-hic-was lying t-hic-to me!”

“Hermione, what do you mean? Is it Malfoy?”

Hermione nodded. “You wer-hic- were right! He wa-hic-was playing with my fee-hic-feelings! I heard him-hic- and Blaise talking abo-hic-about it. He was ly-hic-lying to me all alo-hic-along!”

“What!” Harry stood up, his fists clenched. “I’ll show that ferret, I’ll show him!”

“Harry, please.” When Harry did nothing but clench his fists tighter, Hermione went on. “Please! Harry for me. Don’t get yourself in trouble, please. I need you,” Harry’s expression softened.

He sat back down and put Hermione’s head into his chest, as she started crying once more. After a while, she stopped. Harry looked down at her, and she looked up at him. Their heads were very close together, so close. Without thinking, Harry bent his head and closed the distance of their very close heads, and kissed Hermione.

She kissed back, it was a tearful kiss, but still, somehow, passionate. She had to show Draco the consequences of lying to her. She had to.

Sorry for the very short chapter, but I needed to get this part over and done with to continue the story. Nevertheless, please review!

Chapter 17: Breaking Up
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I am so so so so so so so so sorry about the long wait, I got some problems with internet.

Please enjoy this chapter!

Chapter 17:Breaking Up

Harry woke to someone kissing lightly on his lips. He looked down and saw Hermione smiling up at him. It took Harry a while to notice that he had fallen asleep with Hermione in his arms.

“Hermione!” Harry jumped up from the couch. “I’m really sorry about last night, you were all sad and upset and oh, I know you’re going to really hate me, but please, please forgive I didn’t mean any of it…”

“You didn’t?” Hermione asked with an upset tone.

“No, no, no! Course I meant it but I know-“

“Okay, you don’t need to go on about it again. But I really don’t hate you for anything, I can never hate you.” Harry relaxed. “Come sit down,” Hermione patted the spot next to her and Harry fell into the seat.

“What are you going to do Hermione?”

“Do what? Oh! Um, I don’t know. I really don’t know,” Hermione sighed.

“Come one, let’s go get some breakfast first,” Harry suggested.

“Good idea. I can never think with an empty stomach!”

Harry and Hermione walked into the Great Hall, holding hands. Hermione looked towards the Slytherin table immediately. She expected him to be sitting with Zabini and all the other people again, but she was surprised that he was sitting well away from Zabini. Several people spluttered and stared. It was not as bad as when Draco and Hermione first showed public affection, but this was just as bad.

“I thought they were friends ?”

“I thought she was dating Draco Malfoy.”

“Well it was a matter of time he dumped her. Don’t even know what he saw in the first place.”

“Do you really think so, well if she lost her chance, maybe I can give it a go?”

People were muttering things about them and Draco and what was more, the girls seemed to be not care whether Hermione heard what they were saying about pursuing after Draco or no. Ever since the final battle, Draco had become famous within the female population. He had everything. Looks, money and in the case of the war, the bravery to stand up to the Dark Lord.

Harry and Hermione joined Ron at the Gryffindor table, who was also goggling at them, but in a happy-for-them way.

“Finally! It was a matter of time you asked Hermione out mate,” he said slapping Harry across the back.

“Ouch! Yeah I guess…” Harry didn’t want to go on about his affections for Hermione.

“What do you mean it was a matter of time before Harry asked me out?” Hermione asked, eyeing them suspiciously.

"What! You didn't tell her your crush?!" Ron asked wildly, looking form Harry to Hermione then back to Harry.

“No…” Harry mumbled.

“Oh my gosh! Harry…” Hermione pulled Harry into a hug, causing several people to wolf-whistle.

When they broke apart, they were both red in the face, and Ron was smirking broadly.

“So, what did happen?” he asked.

“Well, I was crying and not really myself-“

“Crying? Why were you crying Hermione?” Ron asked.

“Um, erm, cause um, well I kind of heard Dr-Malfoy’s chat with Zabini and well,” Hermione’s voice cracked. “Well, he was lying to me all along,” she finished trying to make herself sound like she didn’t even care. “It was all a trick.”

“HE DID WHAT!” Ron roared. Several people looked their way in alarm. A few first years sitting close by scuttled to the other end of the table. “I’ll show that bastard. I’ll show him for lying to my best friend.”

Ron stood up, rolling up his sleeves.

“Ron, please, calm down,” Hermione pleaded quietly, slapping herself mentally for telling Ron at breakfast time.

“Mate, come on sit down. We can deal with the ferret later.”

Finally, Ron calmed down and sat back down again.

“What are you going to do?”

“I don’t know. Just make him jealous and show him that I don’t care about him one bit I guess,” Hermione sighed. “Other than that, I don’t know. I really don’t know.”

“Hermione? Can I have a word?”

Without even turning around, Hermione knew who this was. Just hearing the voice made her heart split in a thousand tiny pieces.

“I don’t have anything to talk to you about Malfoy.”

“Malfoy? Since when have we been back in last name terms?”

“Since the minute you decided to admit that you were using her as a bet. Now piss off Malfoy,” Harry said angrily.

“Bet? What are you talking about Potter?”

Hermione lost it.

Finishing the last syllable, Hermione ran out of the Great Hall, tears pouring down her face. Harry immediately hurried after her.

Draco was stunned. Obviously Hermione had heard what he said to Blaise yesterday. Goddammit, she didn’t finish listening and now she was angry with him. Bloody hell. Draco was so deep in thought he didn’t notice a fist coming closer and closer before making contact with his cheek. Draco heard a crack.

“Bloody hell! What was that for Weasley?”

“For playing around with Hermione’s feelings. You never how much she loved you did you? She was probably already planning on telling you her feelings, but you, you bloody ferret just hurts her feelings just like that. I’m warning you Malfoy, if you ever touch her, or even attempt to touch her, you’ll have me to go through.”

Casting a disgusted look at Draco, he also walked out the hall.

Draco did not move from the floor. He was too stunned at what he had heard. Hermione loved him. He always knew she had deep feelings for him, but never in his dreams did he even dare think that she loved him. Just as how he had done for her……

Hermione sat at the foot of the stairs, crying. It pained every part of her body to break up with Draco, but she had to. She couldn’t let him use her as a puppet anymore, no. Never.

It was Harry.

“Harry! Oh, Harry, I’m such a weak person aren’t I?”

“No Hermione. Quite the contrary. You’re too tough, if you’re really hurt, it’s normal to cry. I know how much you loved that ferret.”
Hermione broke down again.

Harry held Hermione in his arms, trying his best to calm her down when some footsteps could be heard. Ron turned the corner and saw the couple sitting at the steps.

“Hermione, it’s fine. I bashed that git up.”

“What! Ron! Why on earth will you do that?”

“Well, I didn’t exactly bash him up, I just punched him and gave him a warning.” When Hermione did nothing but stare at him in alarm, he added, “well, it serves that git right.” He said shrugging.

“I guess you’re right,” Hermione sighed, leaving an awkward silence between the trio.

“So!” Harry burst out suddenly, causing Hermione and Ron to jump. “Erm, sorry. So, what’s the plan?”

“Plan? What plan?” Ron asked turning from Harry to Hermione then back to Harry then his gaze returned to Hermione again. Hermione simply gave him a just as bewildered look and turned to Harry.

“You know, to get back at Malfoy,” Harry said as if obvious.

“First off, there was no plan, and secondly, I don’t want to get back at him-“

“But Hermione,” Ron whined. “I think he deserves something more than just yelling and punching. He deserves something much more than that.”

“Ron, you didn’t let me finish. I meant to say before I was rudely interrupted by a certain rude person, I don’t want to get back at him as if I actually want to, I want to do it unintentionally,” Hermione said smirking. “And you’re going to play the main role in this Harry.”

“Yes madam!”

The next few days for Draco was unbearable. He always seemed to walk on to Hermione and Potter showing public affection. Such as this morning, as he was walking to Charms, he saw Hermione and Potter snogging the lives out of each other, and didn’t even notice him walking past them quickly. No, this is it, I’m just going to go and talk to Hermione. But that didn’t work.

“Erm, Hermione, can I talk to you?”

“Harry, do you hear someone talking?”

“No, all I can see is a ferret who plays with girls’ feelings. And is a complete idiot,” Potter replied.

Draco felt his blood boil. So he was a ferret that played with girls’ feelings and was a complete idiot was he? Feeling too angry to retort, Draco stormed off. Hermione and Potter were laughing behind him.

“Draco,” crooned an annoyingly sickly voice came from around the corner. Draco closed his eyes before he really did actually explode.

“Yes Pansy?” he said as calmly as possible and putting a fake smile as he turned around to her ugly face.

“I was wondering that now that the Mudblood is out of the way-“

“JUST SHUT THE HELL UP PARKINSON!” Draco roared, losing his

Pansy blinked. “Am I Parkinson now?”

“Yes you are, and you will always be. And never call Hermione Mudblood again, or you’ll have me to talk to. Is that understood?” Draco said in a dangerous voice.

Pansy seemed to shrink and quickly walked away. Draco slumped onto the floor. He was devastated with his and Hermione’s break up. He wished Potter would disappear so he and Hermione could go out again. No, Potter doesn’t need to disappear, he would get Hermione’s heart back himself, with no help. He had to.

Chapter 18: Graduation
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I am soooooooooo sorry for the long wait *dodges the garbage thrown*. But please still read the rest of the story. Please!

Chapter 18: Graduation

“I can’t believe it, I really can’t believe it,” Hermione started crying.

“What the hell Hermione? Why the hell are you crying because you’re leaving school? At least you don’t need to stay behind for another year,” Ron said.

“I just can’t believe we are actually leaving Hogwarts,” Hermione sobbed.

“Oh get a grip Hermione. Stop crying for goodness sake.”

“Ahem, I don’t appreciate you speaking to my girlfriend like that Ron. Please stop,” Harry said in a very proper manner which cause all three of them to burst out laughing.

“Come on Harry, we need to practise our speeches still,” Hermione said suddenly serious. “It’s very important.”

“Oh come on Hermione!” Harry whined. “We’ve practised that bloody speech at least a thousand times!”

“Practise makes perfect.”

“Exactly, and you’ve practised it a thousand times so it is perfect,” Ron said as though obvious. “Now come, you two should enjoy what you can of Hogwarts before it’s too late.”

“Fine, whatever,” Hermione grumbled.

“Now everyone please welcome our Head Girl!” McGonagall called over the cheers after Ernie’s speech.

Hermione stood up and cheers erupted from the Gryffindor graduates.

“I remember the first time I found out I was witch. I screamed,” several people laughed. “Yep! I couldn’t believe it, but after a few short days, I had read all of my textbooks and another few days allowed me to memorise them.” People who knew Hermione well let out exasperated laughs. “On the first few weeks I had no friends. Not a single one; but then I got two of the best friends I could ever have. Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. After seven years with them and magical classes I think I am finally ready to face the big world. Of course I will always always always remember everything about this wonderful school. Thank you.”

The cheers began again as Hermione went off the podium and sat down. The great hall was deafening when McGonagall called on Harry.
“Hi everyone. I came back this year with a very big fear- Voldemort. Well actually I didn’t fear him, I was just depressed that the demented loon still hadn’t died.” Everyone laughed while teachers gave disapproving looks. “But I stood up against him and finally the idiot died and the world has peace. But I would not have gone through everything this year, both school work and the Voldemort problem without my two best friends Ron and Hermione. “ Everyone applauded and Hermione and Ron went red. “ So I would just like to say that even though you’re leaving school, you will never be leaving behind your best friends. Thanks. “ Harry sat down as everyone cheered and whistled. When finally the noise had died down, McGonagall stood up.
“Could we please now applaud for Mr Draco Malfoy.”

“What the hell? Why is he doing a speech?” Harry and Hermione asked at the same time.

“At the start of the year, I expected it to be the same kind of year just as it had been for the other six years it has been at Hogwarts with me. Yeah, all of you know as the great, big bullying got who’s pushed everyone around for years, but then you might’ve all noticed this year that I changed half-way through the year. That’s because of a girl I dated and I fell in love with her, so I decided to change for her. In the past six years we were never friends, enemies if you had to say, but I only noticed this year how wonderful she was and I really wanted to be her friend- I got to. Then things lead to another and we were boyfriend and girlfriend, but then a small misunderstanding happened and she was heartbroken. Her heartbroken-ness led me to have the worst pain in my heart, I really want her to hear me out, but I think I really lost my chance. Even so, I want this girl who stole my heart to know that I will always love her. Always from even when I leave this school, always.”

Malfoy finished speaking he looked around the hall and found Hermione. Their eyes met briefly for a second before Hermione quickly turned away and Draco walked of the podium. Half the girls were actually crying, Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout’s eyes were slightly red and frankly Hermione was really touched by what he said. But she knew she couldn’t give in, it could have just been bluffing, or did it?

Harry observed Hermione. She had very quiet throughout the rest of the graduation ceremony, ever since Malfoy said his speech. This told Harry a lot. Malfoy was in love with Hermione. If he never loved her, Malfoy would never even continue with this ‘I-love-you’ crap. And yet he did. Of course, he could be bluffing but… as if Harry thought.

“I now present you all, teachers and parents, this year’s Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry graduates!” Professor McGonagall called to the hall of people. Roars and cheers erupted from the hall, the group of young adults were the loudest. After seven years of learning and education, they were finally ready to face the world on their own. “I give you… Hannah Abbott!” Hannah stood up and her Head of House, Professor Sprout handed her her certificate. “Susan Bones…”

The rest of the people slowly received their certificates and finally when Blaise Zabini got his certificate, everyone went into pleas of joy and cries of happiness and some even started crying. Everyone walked around hugging their friends though Gryffindors still Slytherin and vice versa. Then everyone ran off the podium to find their parents to celebrate the joy with them. Hermione grabbed Harry’s hand and dragged her to her parents.

“Mum! Dad! I’ve graduated! I’ve finally graduated! I’ve finished all my years of education!” she exclaimed when she came in eyesight of her parents.

“Yes, well down darling! I’m so proud of you!”

This kind of thing went on for a couple of minutes and Harry wished that he had parents to share this great moment with. But thanks to Voldemort, he didn’t.

“Mum, dad, this is Harry,” Hermione introduced. “And Harry, this is my parents. Jean and Thomas Granger.”

Harry and Hermione had been friends for six years, but Harry realised that he had never actually met her parents.

“Hello Mr and Mrs Granger. I’m Harry, Harry Potter.”

“You must be one of Hermione’s best friends, she talks about you a lot you know, “ Mr Granger said to Harry.

“Actually dad, he’s my boyfriend now,” Hermione said.

“Oh! Well it’s certainly come as a surprise, but I’m really happy for you two.”

The weird, forced, polite conversation went back and forth until Ron came battling through the crowds of crying people.

“Well done guys! Knew this day would for you,” Ron said with a forced happy tone.

“Ron, don’t worry. Harry and I have already got the shop. And we’re going to open it as soon as possible okay?”

“Yeah mate don’t worry, we’ll have enough fun during the holidays and then we can keep having fun when you go to Hogsmeade next year, okay?” Harry said.

“Fine,” Ron grumbled.

“Come on lets go-“

“Hermione? Could I have a word?”

Hermione froze on the spot, she would know that voice anywhere.

“What do you want Malfoy?” she said as calmly as she could.

“Please,” Malfoy pleaded. “It won’t take long.”

Hermione looked at Harry who nodded encouraging her to go with Malfoy. She followed him through the crowds of people and up the marble staircases she knew would be the last time she walked on. Hermione followed Malfoy to the stone gargoyle that protected Dumble- sorry, McGonagall’s office.

“Dumbledore,” Malfoy said to the gargoyle, it leapt aside.

“How did you know the password?” Hermione said harshly.

“I had a talk with McGonagall and she told me,” he said simply.

They walked up to the office and Hermione watched Draco take a silver bowl-like object. This was obviously the penseive. Harry told Ron and Hermione a lot about the mysterious object that could let you see your own memories but she had never actually seen it.

“So this is the penseive,” she said observing the bowl.

“Yes,” Draco replied, pouring some silvery substance into it. “And I want to show you memory, please watch it. Please?”

Hermione hesitated. Finally after a few seconds she nodded.
Well there you go, theirs is the eighteenth chapter of Truth, or Dare and I’m very sorry to say that the story is coming to an end. But nevertheless please review!

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Memories
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

This chapter is from all the previous chapters so if you can't be bothered reading it you don't really need to, but please do! It's got what Draco said to Blaise!! :)___________________________________________________________
Chapter 19: Memories

Hermione landed in a room that was dark. There was some people sitting at tables doing what looked like homework, with a jolt she saw Draco sitting, or rather lying on a couch.

“What have you been doing these days? I haven’t seen for ages,” he asked Blaise Zabini when he walked in.

The scene changed and Hermione was standing this time in what was no doubt the Slytherin boys dormitory. Draco was sitting on his bed and was muttering a spell into a beautifully wrapped box. With another wave of his wand a note appeared and attached itself to the box. Hermione walked over and read it. To the prettiest girl in Hogwarts. Draco Malfoy And then it hit Hermione. This was the present Draco gave her at Christmas. The scene dissolved again and when it appeared, Hermione was standing in the shop she and Ginny went dress shopping for.

“What the hell?” Hermione murmured. As far as she could remember, she never saw Malfoy there. “Why the hell am I here?”

Just as she asked it, her question was answered. The door opened with a tinkle and Draco walked in, he was holding a small package and a very large package.

“Mr Malfoy, what a surprise to see you here!” said the shop owner, bowing low.

Hermione rolled her eyes. Did everyone know the Malfoys? Apparently yes.

“Whatever, listen I need you to get a girl in my year with curly, wild, brown hair to buy these two things. Bewitch it, charm it, force her, do anything to make her buy this dress and this set of jewellery okay?”

The shop owner looked rather alarmed but nodded all the same. She took two packages from Draco and ripped off the wrappings. There it was. It was the beautiful dress Hermione wore to the Christmas ball, and when the owner ripped off the second wrapping, Hermione saw the set of necklace, earrings and bracelet she matched with her dress. So all of these had been from Draco… a tear rolled down Hermione’s cheek. She rubbed it away and when the world was no longer blurry, Hermione registered she was at the Christmas Ball. She saw herself pushing away Draco and running of to her dormitory, leaving Draco standing along on the dance floor; his hands were balled into fists.

“You runaway Granger, runaway. But I swear I will make you to pounce yourself on me one day.”

Again the scene changed and Draco, Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle were all huddled together. So just go with the plan okay?”

“His coming,” Blaise quickly said. Hermione turned and saw Harry walking towards them, gnashing his teeth. Both he and Ron looked very annoyed.

“Do you think Potter will apologise to Hermione? I’m really worried about her. Not herself these days,” Draco quickly said. “ If I don’t hear from Hermione that Potter has said sorry to her in three day’s time, I’ll hex him.”

“I never knew you would do anything for that Mudblood,” said Blaise

“DON’T- CALL –HER-A-MUDBLOOD! Pernaticlous! ”Giant banana shaped like things erupted all over Blaise’s face. “That’s for calling my girlfriend a Mudblood.”

Hermione looked at Harry who turned towards Ron.

“You know, I think I owe Hermione an apology.”

“You never know, that ferret could be acting.”

“Yeah. I’m going to keep a close watch over him for the next few days

The scene dissolved but came quickly.

Pernaticlous!

The spell bounded of the shield in front of Harry. Draco ducked just in time.

They both ducked. The spell nearly hit Harry by inches.

Petrificus Totalus!

It looked like Draco purposely let himself get hit by the spell, but didn’t let it hit him fully, instead he got a burn on the side of his arm. He flicked his wand, and Harry froze on the spot.

“See? That’s what you get for not apologizing to my girlfriend, and for not trusting me. And come to think of it, her.”

Draco turned to go, but as he walked, he flicked his wand back, and cast the counter curse on Harry. But Harry still stood on the spot.

Hermione closed her eyes, trying to take in everything she just saw, when she opened them again, she was in the dungeon with Draco and Narcissa Malfoy.

“So, may I ask you Draco, why you stood up for that Mudblood?” Narcissa asked coldly.

She's not as brave as she looks when it comes to love.” Suddenly it went misty and Hermione could hear nothing, but it returned back to normal as quickly as it came.

Two fat tears came tumbling down Hermione’s cheek. When she brushed them away, she was standing in a small unused classroom and Blaise and Draco were arguing. Hearing the first word of this conversation made her realise this was the conversation that she eavesdropped on and broke her heart. She didn’t want to listen, but she forced herself to listen.

“Why in effing hell are you kissing Granger in the middle of the hallway? Do you know how sad Pansy was?”

“She loves my money and my name, she would just love everyone to call her ‘Mrs Malfoy’.”

“At least she is pure-blood!”

“Who cares if Hermione’s pure-blood or not? She’s my girlfriend and that is that!”

“No I don't. I don't like her. I admit, I did really hate her at the beginning of the relationship, but then I noticed that she can be really sweet and cute and before I knew it, my heart was hers. I’m in love with her.”

“You blood-traiting bastard!” Blaise spat and walked out of the classroom.

Hermione felt herself floating upwards until she landed back in McGonagall’s office. She stared at Draco who was still standing next to the table.

“Draco-“ she started, but was cut off by him.

“Hermione, I can understand if you still can’t forgive me, but I just really want you to know that I love you no matter what.”

He moved to kiss Hermione, but she stepped backwards.

“Please Draco, I need to think about this, I’m with Harry. I think I need some alone time.”

“Okay,” Draco breathed raggedly. “Okay, I understand, you go.”

“I’m sorry,” Hermione whispered before stepping out of the office and leaving Draco standing alone in the dark office.

Well, how was it? The next chapter will actually be the last chapter. So I would like to thank before the end to all the people who have been following along with this story and reviewing it. Thank you!

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The End
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

Here is the last chapter for Truth, or Dare. Please read!!

Chapter 20: The End

“Hermione?” It was Harry. “Hey, how long have you been sitting in front of the lake?”

“One hour and forty minutes and nineteen seconds,” Hermione replied.

“Whao, I didn't expect that answer but anyway. You were gone ever since Malfoy asked you to go with him, what happened?”

“I… I don’t really want to talk about it. I’m sorry Harry.”

“Okay then. Well, I need to talk to you.” Hermione looked at Harry quizzically. “Look, I know Malfoy loves you. Don’t interrupt! I know loves you- the speech, the way he looks at you and etcetera. And I know you still love him,” Hermione didn’t reply but merely stared guiltily and her feet. “You’ve been trying to forget him, but you’ve failed pretty bad, no offence. I know you still think about him everyday, I’ve heard you calling his name in your sleep. I fell really bad, because even though I love you very much, but I still interfered with your relationship and I thought about this for a long time, but I want you to pursue it back.”

Hermione’s head snapped up.

“What did you just say?” she whispered.

“I said, I want you to pursue back the relationship you and Malfoy both deserve.”

“Do you really want me to get back together with Draco again?”
Hermione’s voice was below audible now.

Harry nodded. “I want you to be happy.”

“Thank you Harry!” Hermione squealed and gave Harry a hug. “Thank you!”

And she sprinted up to the castle, but she stopped suddenly and turned back to Harry.

"We'll still be best friends right?"

Harry smiled. "Of course, you'll always be."

Harry stared at the water. True, he did want Hermione and Malfoy to get back together, but it still really hurt him to let her go like that. He blinked away the tears that threatened to fall.

“Hey mate, you feeling okay?”

Ron sat down next Harry.

“Yeah, I’m fine! Come one, lets go pack.”

"No you're not," Ginny came and sat on the other side of Harry. "You never feel fine when you just dump someone.

"Oh come on, I didn't dump her. We hardly even went out anyway!"

"But you did like her," Ron pointed out.

"What you need right now, is a right potion for broken hearts," Ginny said.

"What!?" Harry yelped. "I don't have a-"

"Just shut up and follow me."

Ginny dragged Harry into a standing position and lead him up to the castle with Ron right behind them.

Hermione stood without moving. Where was Draco? She checked the dungeons, the Great Hall, all the classrooms, asked some boy to check the bathrooms, the kitchens, the Astronomy tower, the Clock Tower and even her dormitory, but he was nowhere to be found. Where could he possibly be? Don’t tell me he’ s still in the Headmistress office… She sprinted off to the office.

“Oh what’s the password again? Er... um... er... oh! Dumbledore!”

The gargoyle leapt aside and Hermione hurled onto the steps, she didn’t even knock on the door but yanked it open. What she had been expecting was not this. Draco was certainly there, but he was lying on the floor and he looked unconscious.

She ran over to him and kneeled down next to him, tears started falling down non-stop down her face.

“No! No please, wake up Draco! Wake up!” She buried her face in his chest. “Please wake up! I love you Draco!”

“You do?” a croaky voice said.

“Draco! You’re alive!” Hermione exclaimed.

“Who said I was dead? I just-“ Draco broke off and fainted.

Hermione quickly levitated Draco and sent him to the Hospital Wing.
“Madame Pomfrey!” she called the nurse who quickly bustled out from her office. “Quick Madame Pomfrey, I don’t know what happened but Draco just randomly fainted!”

“Please calm down dear. Put him on a bed,” Hermione obeyed and waited around as Madame Pomfrey examined him.

"Mr Malfoy is fine. Someone must've played a prank on him and performed a nasty hex on him, do you have any idea who might've done it?"
"Well it matters not, becausse I have given him a potion and he will be fine right. Mr Malfoy can leave when he wakes up."

“Thank you!”

“It was no problem dear,” Madame Pomfrey said kindly and then walked off to her office.

Hermione sat down on the bed next to Draco, holding his hand. After a few minutes Draco started stirring. He opened his eyes slowly.

“Draco you’re awake! Thank god!” Hermione hugged him.

"Get away from me Granger! Why the hell are you hugging me?"

Hermione pulled away, tears in her eyes.

"Do you not know?"

"Of course I don't! When I wake up from being unconcious, i would've expected a kiss not an effing hug!" Draco laughed at Hermione's face.

"It's not funny Draco! Do you know how worried I was?"

"You still can't take a joke Hermione," Draco shook his head.

"Stop making jokes then!" Hermione said hysterically.

Draco laughed, but hugged Hermione all the same.

“Hermione, do you really love me Hermione?” Draco asked seriously when he pulled away.

“Yes I do.”

“What about Potter then?”

“Harry’s talked to me and he said I should pursue back the relationship you and I both deserve.”

“Did Potter really say that?”

“Yeah he did.”

“Wow, who would have known. Can I get out of this bed now?” he said, impatiently trying to get up.

“Madame Pomfrey did say you can go once you’ve woken up so I guess so.”

Hermione and Draco walked all the way to Hermione’s dormitory hand-in-hand, Hermione was going to climb through the portrait when Draco stopped her.

“You know, this is the place where we first officially became girlfriend and boyfriend even though at that time I didn’t like you?”

“Did you really have to mention that? Hermione said, annoyed.

“Sorry, but I just really want to do this…”

Draco leant down and kissed Hermione. Lightly at first, but the kiss became more heated. Draco’s tongue played around at Hermione’s lips asking for entrance which Hermione happily granted. Their tongues held a furious battle and when they finally broke apart, both were panting heavily.

“That, was the best kiss ever!” Draco and Hermione both laughed.

“Yes Draco?”

“I love you.”

Hermione smiled. “I love you too.”

Harry, Ginny and Ron walked up to McGonagall's office, or rather Ginny was -Harry and Ron were getting dragged along.

"Ginny why are we doing this?" Harry hissed.

"I figured you might want to play a prank on Malfoy to release it out of you and I saw Malfoy lead Hermione into the office," Ginny said matter-of-factly.

"I do not!" Harry said stubbornly, though he knew deep down he did.

The opened the door cautiosly and Malfoy was indeed up there, his back was turned to them and Ginny made Harry pull out his wand.

Helio Drecream! "

Immediately Malfoy fell on to the floor and Ginny, Harry and Ron made a run for it.

"Well that was... fun."

What Happened Afterwards

Draco, Harry and Ron all slowly became good friends which made Hermione very happy and together Harry, Hermione and Draco opened the book shop.

Harry finally felt his feelings for Ginny and they got together after Draco and Ron pestered him to ask her out.

Draco and Hermione had a fight for three months but then all the others went back and fourth between them and finally got them back together.

After dating for another two years after the fight Draco finally got the guts and proposed to Hermione who happily accepted Draco’s hand of marriage.

Hermione was Draco’s fiancé for another year as they planned their wedding and Harry was Draco’s best man and Ginny was Hermione’s maid of honor. Harry and Ginny and Ron and Luna all got married not long after.
