'Hey you.' she whispered softly, she sounded so weak that I wanted to cry, but I was a Malfoy. We do not cry. 'I want you to meet our son.'

Chapter 1: In loving memory of

I will never forget the day my entire life changed, it was both the saddest and happiest day of my life. It was three years after the final battle had taken place and I was still undecided about which path to take. My wife, Melissa Malfoy was at St Mungo's, I paced anxiously in the waiting room for the nurse or doctor to tell me what was happening, it had been Forty-three hours already! I wanted to know that my wife was OK. Finally, I saw the door open. A solemn looking nurse walked towards me, I knew the news was not good.

'Mr Malfoy, please come with me.' The doctor had said there might be complications in the pregnancy given Melissa's family history. I had begged Melissa not to go through with it, that we could adopt but she wouldn't hear of it. I nearly smothered her with me being so careful around her, I couldn't bear the thought of her not being in my life. Everything had been fine up until the night before last, Melissa woke up screaming in pain, I brought her straight here.

In the room I was blinded by the bright lights that hung overhead. Melissa lay on the bed smiling so slightly that I wasn't completely sure if she was. I walked over to her and grabbed her hand, she was freezing. I frowned, worry already filling my every being.

'Hey you.' she whispered softly, she sounded so weak that I wanted to cry, but I was a Malfoy. We do not cry. 'I want you to meet our son.'

I sat down and looked at her, her eyes were filled with pride and happiness from what she had accomplished. I nodded, never taking my eyes from her. I heard the nurse bustle behind me and then bring a little package over. After having been placed in my arms I looked down, in my arms was the most beautiful baby boy I had ever seen, his big blue eyes starred back at me in wonder. His hair was so white that it looked like he had none for a moment. I felt my heart swell with love, I would never be like my father. I would never neglect this little angel in my arms. I would die to protect this child before anything ever came close to hurting him. I looked up at my wife a huge grin on my face.

My grin faltered for a second then fell completely. Her eyes had closed, she had a small smile on her face but her breathing had stopped. She was gone. I looked down at the baby in my arms, tears streaming down my face now. My one true love had died giving birth to my son.

That day had been exactly five years ago today. From across the room I watched my son opening his birthday presents, Melissa's family had become closer to us after her death. In an hours time we would go visit his mum like we would every year on his birthday and he would lay a single red rose on her grave and tell her what he had gotten for his birthday. Although it was probably to much for a boy his age. I would put down a letter I had written her. I walked to my son, Scorpius and sat behind him giving him a hug. I watched the joy on his face as his aunt Christina handed him a present. Ripping off the glossy silver paper to reveal a beginners broom. His face lit up and turned to me happier than I had seen him in a long time. He blamed himself for his mum's death. He didn't quite know why she wasn't here or what happened but he knew it involved him. I tried my best to tell him it wasn't his fault but I think he still felt a little guilty.

He got up and ran out to the back yard, he was a natural at flying, despite my telling him not to go too high. As it turns out there was no need to worry, the broom wouldn't allow him to take it any higher than a few feet off the ground. I couldn't help but wish Melissa was here now to see our son. She had helped me to become a better person than I would have thought possible. Even though she had been a pureblood herself, she made me see that bloodlines didn't matter at all. Since her death I had tracked down everyone I knew at Hogwarts and apologized for the way I had treated them. For some of them I got a well deserved door slammed in my face but others could see I had changed and accepted my apology.

My son had changed my life too. From that first moment I saw him I had known that inside I was good. I wasn't meant to be evil like my father. I don't think there is anything more powerful than a parents love for their child. I know how proud Melissa would be of Scorpius now.

'Daddy? Is it time to go see mummy yet?' A little voice asked from in front of me.

I knelt down and hugged him. 'yes son, it is. Why don't you go get your suit on?' I spoke gently.

Five minutes later I grabbed my cardigan and apparated with Scorpius to Melissa's grave site. It was a beautiful private garden. A few minutes later I heard the cracks as Christina, Katie and Tania appeared, Melissa's sisters. I picked Scorpius up and put him on my shoulders. We reached the grave stone five minutes later and stopped. When I put him down he knelt beside it and placed a single red rose. I placed the letter down under it and once more read the curly writing on the outside

'P.S – I miss you.'
